Take a look at our Persona 5 Tactica beginner cheats and tips to get help in this tactical role-playing game that is a spin-off from the Persona series, itself a part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise.
Persona 5 Tactica takes place concurrently with the events of Persona 5, depicting the Phantom Thieves of Hearts as they are transported to an alternate world overcome with war and oppression, prompting an alliance with a group of freedom fighters known as the Rebel Corps to stage a revolution against the tyrannical Legionnaires.
Don't worry too much if you find yourself getting into a bind as Persona 5 Tactica has a generous undo button that can be used an unlimited amount of times. You simply have to open the 'Pause' menu at any point during gameplay and hit 'Undo' to reset the game to your previous turn.
Take advantage of this feature to reposition your characters if they take more damage than you had anticipated during a battle or you get unexpectedly ambushed by enemies.
In Persona 5 Tactica you only have three Phantom Thieves on a team instead of four like in the mainline Persona games. You must choose your team wisely making sure each member's skills and abilities work well together. You also need to take into consideration the goal of the mission as certain characters will be more appropriate than others.
Remember that in Persona 5 Tactica you do not have to include Joker in your party. If his Curse skills with Arsene aren't what you need, you have the option to remove him from your party and bring someone else as your third.
In Persona 5 Tactica it is crucial whenever possible that your Phantom Thieves end the turn behind cover to prevent being defenseless and vulnerable to critical attacks, which always grant a One More action for the attacker. Ensuring your characters end the turn behind cover you will limit your enemies' movements.
Even if an enemy has ended their turn behind cover you will still be able to knock them out into the open by attacking them with a Persona. Doing this will result in leaving them defenseless for a follow-up move by another of your Phantom Thieves.
Another way to target the enemy if there is no clear shot at them because they are behind cover is to hit them with an elemental attack as this will render them defenseless, allowing for a seamless follow-up move from another member of your party.
Just like most Persona games the All-Out Attack is your go-to strategy which you will employ on nearly every turn during a fight. Unlike in Persona 5 where you have to knock down every enemy on the field with a critical hit, you only have to strike down one and have your team in a triangle formation across the map in Persona 5 Tactica.
After you critically damage an enemy you are allowed to move characters around and make the triangle formation. The trick here is that you can swap between both the critical hitter and their team before activating an All-Out Attack.
This means you can position your three Phantom Thieves so they are spread out in such a way that your attack encompasses a large area and it only uses one character's turn to do so. Movement on its own does not take up a turn, so if you are trying to set up an All-Out Attack, spread that triangle out as far as you can and catch as many enemies in the blast as possible.
There is no need to waste time watching the turns of low-level enemies in Persona 5 Tactica. If the fight is not important you can fast-forward through enemy turns by speeding up their turns. This is done by pressing R on your Joy-Con, or the equivalent on the system you are playing on.
Each of the Phantom Thieves has a powerful special move that uses the Voltage that is charged up with each turn. Keep in mind that although these are high-impact moves the Voltage charges up quickly so you should take advantage of them whenever possible. If you are using them early and often, you can set off several of these moves over the course of the fight.
