                                     @@@@@@@@@@@@

Welcome to the Shaman Class! Shamans are one of the three "Jack of All Trades"
classes in World of Warcraft, and one of the most versatile. Shamans can tank,
heal, do ranged DPS, as well as do melee DPS! While not being able to do any
of these EXTREMELY well, Shamans have a median between as they can (usually)
perform any of these roles at any time.

                          (2) - CREATING YOUR SHAMAN
                                @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Shamans are available to three races on the Horde side, and one on the Alliance
side. These races are: Orc, Tauren, Troll, and Draenei. The Shaman is one of
the few classes that actually benefit somewhat heavily from your Race.
Taurens give you a 2sec AoE stun, which really helps out since the class lacks
any real form of CC. Orcs add +15% Stun Resist, which helps out against Rogues.
Trolls with Berserking will increase your attack AND casting speed. Draenei
add +1% chance to hit with spells as well as a Heal over Time spell.

Depending on if you'd rather PvP or Raid will dictate your racial choice,
outside of choosing between Horde and Alliance, of course. For PvP, Orcs/Tauren
are superior. For Raiding, Draenei/Troll have an edge. Of course, player skill
overcomes all, so the Race just adds a little to your Shaman.

                         (3) - SHAMAN SPELLS/SKILLS
                               @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Ah yes, Spells and Skills. The major part of playing any class. Shaman control
the four elements (Earth, Fire, Air, and Water) through the use of Elemental
Totems. They only use three Elements for their damage spells, however, which
are Nature, Fire, and Frost. These damage spells come in the form of Lightning
Bolt, Chain Lightning, and Shocks, which are on a 6-second cooldown (It can be
lowered to 5 seconds with the proper allocation of Talent Points), and provide
an additional effect to their damage. Shaman also employ the use of Weapon
Enhancement spells, which will imbue your weapon with certain Elemental
aspects for 30 minutes. Shaman also have Healing spells, for the ever-important
recovery of lost hit points.

While being able to fulfill a variety of roles, Talent Point allocation causes
you to become greatly better in one form of the Shaman class while lowering
your ability in the other two forms. However, you will never render any certain
ability useless, and almost always you will find a use for every skill in your
repretoire.

                              (3A) - TOTEMS
                                     @@@@@@

A major aspect of the Shaman Class, and the one aspect that sets you apart from
the other two Hybrid Classes, is Totems. Totems are Elemental "items" that you
summon to assist in battle. They do a wide range of things, such as buffing
the party with Strength, Agility, extra Spell Damage, they can restore Mana
and Health, and later you'll have Totems to summon Elementals to assist
in battle! Knowing which totems to use at the right time makes you a GREAT
Shaman, and will assure you a spot in a group/guild.

To summon a Totem requires you to do a Quest involving the Element of the Totem
you are after, usually something such as cleansing a body of water for Water
Totem, Paying your respects to the Earth for your Earth Totem, etc. After
completing the quest, you will aquire the Elemental Totem, and it must be in
one of your bags in order for you to summon totems of that Element. Now, I'll
give you the steps through the Totem Quests. I use Coordinates for the exact
location of the quest givers. You can obtain these from a simple addon called
CMiniMapCoords. You can download it at:

                               @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

This quest starts from Firmanvaar at the Crash Site, coordinates 80,49, and is
obtainable from level 4. You must go Northwest to the Sacred Grove and speak
with Spirit of The Vale, who is a large Rock Elemental. He is at coordinate
72,40. Head there, and speak with the Spirit. He asks you to slay 4 Restless
Spirits of Earth, which you find surrounding him. After killing the 4, talk to
him again. He asks you to return to Firmanvaar, who will then give you the
Earth Totem, and the Stoneskin Totem spell. Return to him and get your Totem.

                       (3AB) - FIRE TOTEM - DRAENEI
                               @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Your Fire Totem quest starts at level 8, from Tuluun at Azure Watch, at the
coordinates of 48,50. You asked to talk to Temper, a large Fire Elemental in
Emberglade, an area which is Northeast of Azure Watch. Temper is located at
coordinates 59,18. After speaking to him, he asks of you to retrieve a
Ritual Torch from the wildkin inside Stillpine Hold to the west. Stillpine Hold
can be found at coordinates 47,20. Travel inside and kill the Wildkin until
they drop the Ritual Staff. Upon looting it, return to Temper. Now, Temper
asks of you to slay his crazed brother.

Travel to Silvermyst Isle, which is the small island on the Southwest corner of
the map. Go to coordinates 11,82 and use the Ritual Torch on the Wickerman you
see. This will summon Temper's brother Hauter, which you must kill. Loot the
ashes from his body, then use the Orb of Returning to warp back to Temper. Turn
in the quest. Temper asks you to bring the ashes to Tuluun at Azure Watch.
Go to Tuluun. After speaking with Tuluun, she informs you that Prophet Velen
in The Exodar has learned of your trials and wishes to speak with you. Travel
to The Exodar, which is directly west and a bit north of Azure Watch. Go inside
and go to The Vault of Lights sector, and speak with Prophet Velen at the
coordinates of 32,54. After speaking with him, he asks to yet again travel to
speak with another person. You must now travel to The Crystal Hall, and speak
with Farseer Nobundo at 31,28. Speak with him and you'll FINALLY get your Fire
Totem.

                        (3AC) - WATER TOTEM - DRAENEI
                                @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

The Water Totem quest is obtainable at level 20, from Sulaa in The Exodar, at
coordinates 36,27. She asks you to speak with Prophet Velen at coordinates
32,54. Speak with him, and he informs you that a powerful water elemental named
Aqueous has requested your presence. Travel north to Bloodmyst Isle, then
continue North/Northwest to around coordinates 33,19. Use the Water Breathing
potion if you need to, but there are bubbles around him which allow you to
breath underwater. Aqueous asks you to collect 6 Foul Essences from the water
spirits in The Foul Pool, at 31,35. Travel there and collect the Essences, then
return to Aqueous. You are now asked to travel to Ashenvale and fill a Bota Bag
with water from The Ruins of Stardust. To get there, take the boat at the
south-west of The Exodar to Auberdine, then travel south through Darkshore into
Ashenvale. You'll find the Ruins of Stardust at 33,67. The fountain is inside
a small hut structure. Return back to Aqueous after filling the bag.

Aqueous now tells you he has determined that a person named Telathion is the
one behind the corruption of the Fool Pool, and asks for you to destroy him.
Travel back to The Fool Pool and just southwest of it, at coordinates 25,40,
you will find his camp. Click on the barrels to destroy them, and he will
appear and attack you. Some Water Elementals help you out in the fight. Kill
him and loot his head, then return once more to Aqueous. Now, Aqueous gives you
a Flask of Purest Water, and you are asked to take it to Farseer Nobundo inside
The Exodar at 31,28. Travel there and speak with him, and you recieve your
Water Totem.

                         (3AD) - AIR TOTEM - DRAENEI
                                 @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Now for the fourth and final Totem, the Air Totem. Pick up the starter quest
from Sulaa, inside The Exodar, at 33,24. She commisions you to speak with
Farseer Nobundo, at coordinates 31,28. Nobundo tells you speak with Velaada,
at the top of Wildwind Path, which is the north part of the mountain into which
The Exodar has crashed into. Exit The Exodar and follow it's perimiter all the
north and it will curve West. Eventually you will find the path. Follow it and
speak to Velaada. After speaking with her, turn directly around and talk to
the large Air Elemental named Susurrus. He gives you a portion of himself, and
asks you to return to Farseer Nobundo with it. After accepting the quest, he
will send you back down the mountain. Enjoy the ride, then travel back to
Nobundo. Turn in the quest and obtain your Air Totem.

                        (3BA) - EARTH TOTEM - ORC/TROLL
                                @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Alright, Orcs and Trolls. Time to get your first totem. This quest can be
obtained from Canaga Earthcaller, your Shaman Trainer in the Valley of Trials,
and can first be obtained at level 4. She asks you to bring her 2 Felstalker
Hooves. You can find the Felstalkers inside the Burning Blade cave to the
north. Get the hooves, and come back to Canaga. He now gives you some Earth
Sapta and asks you to locate Spirit Rock and then drink the Sapta. The entrance
to Spirit Rock can be found at 41,73. After following the path you should find
a stone structure here. Use the Sapta and speak to the Minor Manifestation of
Earth that appears.

The Manifestation gives you a Rough Quartz, and asks for you to take it to
Canaga Earthcaller, back in the Valley of Trials. Go back back and speak with
him, and he rewards you with your Earth Totem and the Stoneskin Totem spell.

                                @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
                        (3BB) - EARTH TOTEM -TAUREN
                                @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Here's your first Totem Quest, Tauren. AT level 4, you can get it from Seer
Ravenfeather, your Shaman Trainer in Camp Narache. You asked to obtain 2
Ritual Salves from the Bristleback Shamans inside Brambleblade Ravine, to the
east. Sorry, no Coordinates on this one. The Shaman are located all throughout
the cave, mostly in the back though. After looting the 2 Ritual Salves, return
to Seer Ravenfeather for the next step. You asked to locate Kodo Rock and
drink the Earth Sapta. Kodo Rock is located at 53,80. Stand next to the stone
structure and drink the Sapta. Speak with the Manifestation that appears for
the next step.

The Manifestation gives you a Rough Quartz, and asks for you to take it to
Seer Ravenfeather, back at Camp Narache. Go back back and speak with him, and
he rewards you with your Earth Totem and the Stoneskin Totem spell.

                   (3BC) - FIRE TOTEM - ORC/TAUREN/TROLL
                           @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Now for your second Totem, the Fire Totem. This quest starts at Level 10, from
any Shaman Trainer. You asked to find Kranal Fiss in The Barrens. He is
Northeast of The Crossroads, at coordinates 55,19. Speak with him, and you are
asked to take the Torch of The Dormant Flame to the Shrine of The Dormant
Flame and have it set ablaze. You can find the entrance to the Shrine at
coordinates 36,57. You'll see a black rock marking it. Follow the path up and
speak to Telf Joolam at the top. He asks you to bring him 1 Fire Tar and 1
Reagant Pouch. For the Reagant Pouch, you can get it easily from the Razormane
Geomancers to the east of The Crossroads. The sapta is going to be harder.

For the Sapta, Leave Razor Hill via the North exit, and IMMEDIATELY, right
after the log fence, hang a right/go east. If you went on the road and passed
the last guards from Razor Hill, you've gone too far. Once you went right/east
immediately after leaving Razor Hill, walk for a little bit, then go
left/North, then in the distance you'll see the cave you want, after walking a
bit more. The coordinates for the cave are at 51,26. The Pouch seems to have a
very low drop rate. I've cleared the cave 5+ times before, before I got it.
Return to Telf Joolam after getting the two items.

He gives you a Fire Sapta and the Torch of The Dormant Flame. Use the Sapta
next to him, then walk the rest of the path up. Fight the Fire Manifestation
at the end. Loot the Orb from his body, then click on the shrine behind him to
light the Torch. Now, return to Kranal Fiss at 55,19, to get your Fire Totem
and the Searing Totem spell.

                    (3BD) - WATER TOTEM - ORC/TAUREN/TROLL
                            @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Your third Totem Quest is obtainable at Level 20, from any Shaman Trainer. Go
to 65,43 and speak with Islen Waterseer. She asks to speak with Brine in The
Barrens. You can find Brine at 43,77. She asks you to fill the Empty Waterskin
at the pool below her hut. Run down there and stand in the pool and use the
Waterskin. Go back up and talk to Brine again. She asks you to go to Tarren
Mill in Hillsbrad Foothills to fill the Empty Red Waterskin. To get there,
take the Zepplin from Orgrimmar to Undercity. Run West from Undercity to The
Sepulcher, grab the flightpath. Continue south through Silverpine Forest until
you run into Hillsbrad. Run East through Hillsbrad to Tarren Mill, fill the
Waterskin at the small well in the center of town. Get the flightpath and fly
back to UC, then Zepplin back to Orgrimmar and return to Brine.

You are now asked to fill the Empty Blue Waterskin in Ashenvale. To get there,
go to The Crossroads and go North until you reach Ashenvale. Follow the path,
and go to the right when it forks into Splintertree Post. Get the Flightpath,
then leave. Go back to the fork and go left. Go to The Ruins of Stardust at
33,68, and obtain the water from the small fountain. Return to Brine, and now
she gives Vial of Purest Water and instructs you to return to Islen Waterseer.
She asks you to to Silverpine Forest and defeat the Water Manifestation. Go to
Orgrimmar and take the Zepplin to The Undercity, then take the wind rider to
The Sepulcher. Go to 38,44, and you'll find a Rock Structure like on the other
Totem Quests. Drink your Water Sapta and many Water Elementals will appear.
Kill them until you obtain the bracers from them, and then click on the shrine
towards the back. Speak with the Water Manifestation that appears, then return
to Islen Waterseer for your Water Totem and the Healing Stream Totem spell.

The fourth and final Totem Quest, the Air Totem, is obtained at level 30 from
either Searn Firewarder in Orgrimmar, at coordinates 37,37, or from Xanis
Flameweaver in Thunder Bluff, at coordinates 25,20. He asks you to speak with
Prate Cloudseer in Thousand Needles. To get to Thousand Needles, travel all the
way south through The Barrens, and take the Great Lift down. You'll find Prate
at coordinates 53,42. Speak with her and recieve your Air Totem. Very easy. It
must have been made like this because of the insanity you went through to get
your Water Totem.

                            (4) - SHAMAN TALENTS
                                  @@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Talents are the part of every class that sets you apart from other players of
the same class. Each class has three different Talent Trees that are radically
different from each other. Starting at level 10, you will gain one Talent Point
each time you level up, and you may of course put it into any Talent Tree you
wish. You can reset your Talent Trees at any time by talking to your Class
Trainer and paying a fee. The fee starts at 1G, then 5G, then 10G, then
continually goes up by 5G each time you reset, capping at 50G. The price does
come back down over time, however.

Shamans experience the smallest change from their talent specs in comparison
to other Classes, however the Talent Spec you choose does make your Shaman
more proficient in that Tree's specialization nontheless. You will not be as
effective in the specialization of the other two trees if you spec heavily into
one tree, but you can still use all aspects of the Shaman Class. Hence the
beauty in the amount of versatility that Shaman's possess.

This is the main shining point of the Shaman Class, in that while speccing a
certain way, you are still much a threat in PvP as well as PvE as all of your
abilities are disposable at your will. In my opinion, speccing Restoration is
the best way after you are at level 70 (60 for the Non-BC owners, but TBC is a
near must), as it offers much more than Elemental and Enhancement in terms of
PvP and what you bring to a party.

However, playing a game is all about YOU having fun, not what others think.
Feel free to spec whatever you like and feel comfortable with, of course.

Elemental is the Shaman's Psuedo-Mage tree. This Tree deals specifically with
the offensive spells of the Shaman Class, mainly by buffing the damage and
efficency of your Shocks and Lightning Bolt/Chain Lightning spells.

                       (5) - Equipment Guide
                             @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Equipment, the 2nd most important aspect in dictating a character's
perfomance (The foremost being the aforementioned skill of the Player). As
Shaman have three different roles they can fulfill (Spell DPS, Melee DPS, and
Healing), all three are always available to the Shaman, and as a result many
Shaman carry around multiple peices of Gear to help them fulfill these roles.

It is not uncommon to find an Enhancement Shaman in Healing Gear to help out
on Healing, or a Restoration Shaman to don his +Spell Damage Gear and assist
in bringing an enemy down. In this section I will show you viable pieces of
gear for each Shaman Talent Spec, as well as hopefully giving you the ideas
on to what types of gear you should search for.

                              @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
                       (5A) - Enhancement Gear
                              @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Enhancement is the Melee DPS version of the Shaman. Having good weapons is the
main focal point to begin with. You'll mainly be using gear that is directed
towards Hunters, so it's mostly a focus on straight Attack Power. As long as
you aren't sacrificing a ton of other stats (Stamina and Intellect are both
very important), you can go for straight Strength as Shamans get 2 AP per point
of strength. At it's current point, Dual-Wielding is the way to go for both
raiding and PvPing Shamans.

If you are Raiding, you might want to consider Blacksmithing for a Drake-Fist
Hammer. The proc for increased Haste rating is VERY valuable, especially since
it can proc off of Windfury procs. You'll want somewhere around 19% Hit.
I know that seems hard to obtain, but you get 9% Hit through talents, which
makes your Main-Hand a 1% chance to miss (The cap, of course). Your Offhand
will pretty much always have a high miss chance since the cap is hard to reach
without sacrificing other good pieces of gear.

As for PvP, it's pretty much the same gear-wise, except you will want to focus
on as much Stamina and Resilience as possible until you hit the Resilience cap.

                              @@@@@@@@@@@@@@
                       (5B) - Elemental Gear
                              @@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Elemental is the Spellcasting DPS version of the Shaman. Spell Crit and Spell
Damage are your main points. Spell Crit is easier to deal with because you get
11% Crit on Lightning Bolt/Chain Lightning through Talents, with an 3% Hit/Crit
from Totem of Wrath if you choose. You need 16% Hit to reach the Cap for PvE,
which is somewhat easy since you get 9% Hit through Talents, with an extra 3%
from Totem of Wrath giving 12% alone without gear. Of course, I don't get the
3% Hit from Resto since I don't have the points after getting 5% Crit and such.
Of course, if you totally skip on PvP you don't really need Healing Focus so
you could get it. You'll be focusing on Intellect as your third stat since it
gives Spell Crit AND more Mana, which are both very important. The sad thing is
that Elemental gear-itemization plain BLOWS. Almost all of your gear will come
from Heroics (There's 4-5 crafted Items you can make as well), for Mail,
anyways. In raids you'll be stuck fighting for the Cloth Spell-damage pieces
if you're allowed to roll on them, until you reach Black Temple/Mount Hyjal
anyways. Since you shouldn't be taking frontal damage, you can feel free to use
a Staff instead of a 1H/Shield here.

For PvP, you only need 3% Hit, so pretty much 1 point in Elemental Precision
and you're done. Statwise, you're going for Stamina and Resilience again, along
with spell damage of course. PvP is all about survival, and it is STRONGLY
recommended that you use a Shield in PvP. Even if it grants lower stats, you'll
do tons better against physical-damage classes due to the extra damage
reduction. Of course, you could always switch back to a 2H if you see you're
facing all spell-casters.

                             @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
                       (5) - Restoration Gear
                             @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Restoration is the Shaman's healing talent-spec. As you can probably guess, you
will be focusing on +Healing mainly, with Intellect in a close second followed
by Spell Crit and Stamina. Spell Crit is important since only the Draenei
Shamans have a Heal over Time spell, albeit on a cooldown. Just like Elemental,
you can use a 2Hander instead of 1H/Shield.

For PvP, a Restoration Shaman once again focuses on Stamina/Resilience, with
+Healing mixed in. And once again, using a 1H/Shield is strongly preferred.

You'll want to have Water Shield up at ALL times, for all specs. For Elemental
you'll want to use Lightning Bolt mainly. Use Chain Lightning when you have a
Clearcasting proc, or when Elemental Mastery is available. Enhancement will
want to use Windfury on Main-Hand with Frostbrand on Off-Hand, and spam
Stormstrike. Use Flame Shock and only recast when the duration is up.
Restoration plays exactly like Elemental. For all specs, you drop what totems
you feel comfortable with. I usually don't bother with it unless I'm having
multiple pulls in a small area since it'll conserve mana.
