[1.01] Differences in Christmas Party Pack

When Maxis and EA decided to release this party pack, they actually released
two versions. Well, I think you should all know that much by now. Anyway, when
they released it, the two editions both have the same content but they cost
different. Okay, the Christmas Version has well, The Sims 2 base game and the
Christmas Verison already added onto it. That means, you do not have to have
The Sims 2 (TS2) to play it because the base game (TS2) is already in it so
there. The other version is the Holiday Party Pack. This pack is for those
who ALREADY and I repeat, ALREADY have The Sims 2 and want to buy the
Christmas stuff without having to buy the base game as well. As far as pricing
is concerned, The Christmas Version, having the Christmas stuff and the base
game will be MORE expensive as it contains the base game. Also, for those who
want an easier approach, the Christmas Version is in WHITE and the Holiday
Pack is in GREEN. Before you start, if you live in America, you can easily
obtain your game. In Europe, you also can get the game. But for those who live
in my country, Australia, there are ways for you to obtain the game. Check the
K-Mart stores because I got mine there. You can also pay the money online at
the EA website and you can download the installation files there. It is about
78 megabytes I think. Also, wherever you live, you can get this game Online
from any good online retailer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1.02] Version History

Version 0.1 [30/12/05]
This time last year, I started my first FAQ, The Sims 2. I'll start another
one same time so here.

Version 0.2 [5/1/06]
New Year! Update! Added a fair chunk to the guide.

Version 0.3 [14/1/06]
Another update.

Version 0.4 [8/2/06]
Another Update.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.01] Santa Cookies

Okay, everyone likes cookies right? Well, with one cooking skill point, anyone
can make them. These cookies are easy to make with only one skill point in
cooking and from a 3D angle, they look kind of yummy to eat as well. The plate
consists of Green Christma Tree cookies, snowmen cookies and some white
Christmas tree cookies. Okay, there are several things that make these cookies
very unique. First of all, they last a lot longer than regular food. Most of
the regular food will start to get some files after about four or more hours
while these cookies will last at least 6 hours. The precise time I do not know
because I have better things to do than to time how long the cookie takes to
start getting files over them. Next important things about the cookies is that
they can summom Santa to your house. I'll explain this later okay? Anyway, the
final thing about this cookie is that they can be served at ANY time of the
day. This includes the morning and at lunch. I figured this out when my Sim
checked the fridge at 8:28am in the morning and found the dessert option. Then
I clicked it and there is was, Santa Cookies. For those who have 10 cooking
skill points and Nightlife Expansion Pack, there will now be about 5 desserts
you can cook. Gelation, Layer Cake and Baked Alaska from the original base
game, Crepe Suzette from Nightlife and now Santa Cookies. Yummy! And sidenote,
after you eat a serving, it starts to look like Santa's legs!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.02] Holiday Roast

Now, many people will find it hard to make the holiday roast. Even those with
10 cooking points cannot cook it. Why? Because, for the first time, you
actually need an item to cook a holiday roast. The tricky producers at Maxis
and EA decided to give the gamers a little more than just a easy meal, they
decided to make the whole thing so confusing that they could laugh at us. Now
you ask, what item do I need to cook this. Well, you need to have *drumroll*
"A Touch of Autumn Cornucopia" Where is it? Under the decorations section but
more on that later. Anyway, the Holiday Roast, is a roast so, like a turkey,
you cannot make a single serving of it because that would be a waste so you
have to serve it. For the low, low price of 7 cooking points, you can easily
serve this wonderful meal. Unlike the cookies, this roast can only be served
at dinner. Well, it has to be dinner because you are not exactly going to eat
a whole holiday roast during breakfast are you? The holiday roast looks like a
sack, no don't laugh, because it actually does. It looks like a meat sack with
some carrots, mushrooms and something else (garlic perhaps?) on the side. When
you serve it, it is actually 3 large chunks of meat and some vegetables on the
side. Have fun eating it!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[3.01] Santa Klaus

Look every bit like the jolly old man while wearing the santa suit. This suit
is only available to males (ever heard of a female Santa? No? You're right)
and can be found in the everyday section of the clothing department. Note that
you can only wear it if you are an adult. Maxis also released a hat and a
beard to match the suit and make you look like the full Santa.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[3.02] Mrs. Klaus

Now, you can look like santa's wife with this santa outside for the females.
This suit is availble to females (because males don't have Mrs. as a title)
and is under the everyday section.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[3.03] Father Time

You can now look old like father time, with his new outfit, the father time
outfit. Only available to males, for obvious reasons.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[3.04] Toddler New Year

Toddlers can wear a new outfit, the same outfit that Toddler New Year wears,
and it is a formal suit. Nice eh? For safety reasons, the toddler outfit will
only be available to toddlers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[3.05] Hats and Beards

The holiday pack included several beards, long beards so that you can re-enact
Santa Klaus and Father Time. And there are Santa Hats that you can wear so
that you can have the full Santa suit. Beard and all.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.04] DinCo's Fountain of Fiery Jubilations

makers of fine china and quality explosives, provides only the very best to
ensure your family minutes of boundless entertainment! Let DinCo's shower
your loved ones in fiery brillance.

Warning: Do Not Eat"

Cost: 75
Motive: Fun 5
Skill Increased: None

Ever seen a bottle light up with a flair. Well, now you can. This bottle
actually allows you to unleash a party, all in a bottle. For those who want a
brief rundown, it is like a fireworks display, all in a single bottle. What
great value is that. Excellent value! It is possible to blow this bottle up
and boom with your Sim with it. It will basically, destroy your hygiene bar
and give your Sim some nice burns. Too bad Maxis didn't decide to pack some
more powerful explosives.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.05] DinCo's Crackers

Exclusive to the Holiday Pack

"Crack! Pop! Bang! DinCo's crackers are a surefire way to blast life into your
dying party! DinCo's the makers of fine china and quality explosives, want
only the very best for your families entertainment needs. Let DinCo's explode
into your lives!

Cost: 50
Motive: Fun 5
Skill Increased: None

Ever seen Chinese crackers on a Chinese New Year, well, these are exactly it.
They stick to the ceiling and await for your Sim to light it up. When you do,
there are two results. One, your Sim, the one lighting it up will go, light it
and run away like mad. Then, the Crackers ignite and kaboom!, crackle here and
there and turn up the sound. The second alternative is, well, more dangerous.
Since your Sim is running up with a gas lighter, the same gas lighter used in
the sprinker prank from Sims 2 University, a little too much fire might not
work well with *clears throat* EXPLOSIVES. Guess what happens? Sure, it
ignites, the whole lot of it and your Sim with it. What happens would be that
your Sim ends up with a lots of singed clothing and a drop in all motives.
Have fun, and try not to blow it up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.06] A Touch of Autumn Cornucopia

Available on the Exchange on 11 November 2004

"In Greek mythology, the cornucopia is the horn of Amalthaea, the she-goat
nymph who nursed the infant Zeus. It is said that the cornucopia would
continuously fill with fruit, meat, or whatever its owner requested. Also
known as The Horn of Plenty, the cornucopia is the traditional symbol of an
abundant harvest. Crafted in high density industrial wax, our version lets you
experience A Touch of Autumn any time of the year.

Cost: 73
Motive: Environment 1
Skill Increased: None

This is the item needed to get the ability to make a holiday roast. That is
the sole reason that I actually bothered to list it. Other than that, the
object looks like a shoe.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.07] Super Stuffer Mantle Warmers

Available in Great Holiday Giveaway on December 13

"Are you tired of the high prices you are forced to endure for simple
ornaments each holiday season? Are the holidays spent in loneliness and
isolation? Cheer up the place with these affordably priced, pre-stuffed faux
stockings. Nylon shell resists dust while epoxy strip on underside keeps
stockings in place. All the memories and warmth- without the hassle.

Cost: 30
Motive: Environment 1
Skill Increased: None

Like the cornucopia, this item is only listed because that you need it to
summon Santa I think. These items have to be placed on a fireplace so the
word Mantle actually has a purpose. There are 4 stockings, great for the ideal
nuclear family.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.08] Gingerbread House

Available in Great Holiday Giveaway on December 1

"Sugar, almonds, ginger, nutmeg, tiny silver balls that crack your teeth ...
its just doesn't feel like the holidays without them does it? Yet just a few
hundred years ago these spices were unknown to Europeans until Medieval
Crusaders brought them back from their "travels." Catholic monks created
elaborately craved and spiced "cookie boards" depicting saints at Christmas.
Ironically, the modern gingerbread "house" instead of "saint" was invented by
the Puritians, who rejected traditional Christmas images."

Cost: 60
Motive: Environment 1
Skill Increased: None

Yum, gingerbread. Anyway, you can't really eat this, because of health issues
issued by the SimCity Board of Health. Looks good to eat though.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.09] Christmas Tree

Available on the Exchange on 16 December 2004

"Since Roman times, trees have been decorated with lights to honor the gods of
harvest and light. Northern Europeans later adapted these ritual to fancy, new
Eastern religions. Made even more popular in 19th century Germany, some
contend the tree is a really a throwback to the mythlogical Norse tree named
Yggdrasil."

Cost: 295
Motive: Environment 2
Skill Increased: None

Another items that really serves no purpose. Available in traditional green or
with snow white. You choose. If you turn this thing on for too long, it will
go on fire. Be sure only to leave it on for a short while.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[4.10] Funky the Snowman

Exclusive to the Holiday Pack

"Raise the roof (and a few hollow chuckles) with this cleverly animated,
holiday decoration. Sure, its gyrating belly taunted you at the drugstore -
but that's nothing compared to the joy it will bring you at home. Especially
jovial in multiples, uniquely popular with children and "kidults"

Cost: 99
Motive: None
Skill Increased: None

All it does is play some Christmas tunes, nothing more besides that. Have
fun with the snowman stereo.

[5.01] Summoning Santa

The main point in this game is summoning santa. Santa can be summoned in one
simple way. Between 7pm and 10pm, every night, you have to bake some Santa
Cookies. Buy baking santa cookies, between that time, you enable the ability
to summon santa. But theres more. You also need a Christmas tree, and there is
much debate whether you need some stockings and the fireplace or not. But,
have the cookies done and before 10pm, make sure that every member of the
household is in bed. When do, Santa will warp back to the tree and go and
eat some Santa cookies. I don't think that he actually eats it the cookies but
he makes sure that he will only get the finest of cookies. If the cookies are
burnt or have the green cloud over them, do not even think about getting a
present, all you get is a lump of coal. But more on that later. Anyway, Santa
will come from the tree, test the cookies, head back to the tree and dump you
a present if the cookies are of a good quality. Presents depend but more on
that topic later. When he dumps you a present, he will leave. He normally
leaves through the tree, as in warping, but there are times that he will walk
out of the premises and walk away completely. There are reports that when
Santa goes back to the tree to dump the present, between dropping the present
and going home, his path is blocked, making him a very unwelcome guest.
Because when he cannot leave, he will sit down, use your toilets (a lot more
than what is needed, how much milk did he have on his way?), eat basically all
of your Santa cookies and worst of all, he will keep booming "Ho Ho Ho", not
very nice when he is basically that worst housemate of all (wonder how Mrs.
Klaus handles him.) And note that Santa is Santa Klaus not Santa Claus which
is the real spelling. Most of the time, he will sooner or later walk off your
premises but if he doesn't, be prepared to use the moveObjects on cheat to get
rid of the old man. I don't know about the consequences of using the cheat
though, it might end up becoming the time where you cannot vampire Mrs
Crumplebottom from the Sims 2 Nightlife due to the error that she is not
actually a person but an object in the game database. And there you go, the
whole sequence of summoning Santa. Santa will not come eariler than 10pm
however and I, myself have never seen him come after midnight so bake the
cookies in the evening before 10pm and make sure everyone is in bed. Then he
will come. Apparently, it is more likely that he will turn up if the Christmas
tree and the Santa cookies are in the same room. Don't know if it is true or
not but even though my tree and cookies are not in the same room, or on the
same level for that matter, I can still successfully summon this fat man. You
can be best friends with Santa, and even get a memory from it. Its like making
a normal family friend, just a helluva of a lot of conservations. However, you
cannot call him or WooHoo him for that matter but if you decide to kill him,
it has been confirmed that your game will most likely freeze or crash. If it
does, don't say I didn't warn you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5.02] Giving Gifts

When Santa come along and gives you your presents, he will give one present
for the entire household (stingy old man). That gift depends on several
factors. The gift will only be for the base game, so do not think for a second
that you are going to get a University or Nightlife gift, espically for those
who don't have the expansion packs. Its like giving a person a AAA battery for
a Gameboy which requires AA batteries, doesn't work. The gift will be ranged
on the amount of daily and lifelong relationship points GAINED in that day.
Basically, it is like a score. Daily points are worth less than Lifetime
Relationship points. Any loss in relationship points are also counted and
deducted. So basically, as a summury, Dailys are worth 1, Lifetime 2, losing a
Daily is -1 and losing a Lifetime is 2. Simple? Should be. If you don't
understand what lifetime and daily relationship points are, two options. Read
the manual, or go and buy the game and then read the manual. That is basically
how Santa give out his gifts. The more relationship points gained, the better
the gift. The more relationship points lost, the crappier the gift in
essence.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[5.03] Coal

When Santa arrives, he expects his daily meal of Santa Cookies to get him
through the night. If you don't feed him his cookies, he gets very upset and
gets nasty. Thats where the coal comes in. When Santa arrives, there are
several ways to get coal, and it all has to do with the Santa Cookies. If you
burnt the cookies, leave it there and Santa gets the burnt cookies, he didn't
like that and that will earn you coal. If they are old batches of cookies,
ones with green eh cloud over it and flies, which takes a very long time, you
will get cookies if you give that to him. If he arrives and you gratefully
dispose the cookies before he can get it, he will give you coal for your
kindness. If hungry family members eat the cookies before he does, he will
give you coal for your greediness. When he finds out that the bunch of cookies
are a fraud, he will go to the tree and leave a lump of coal behind, with a
message.

"I must be dealing with some rookies
Given the lack of decent cookies,
Whip up another batch of batter,
You might not get some old plant matter."

Great warning eh? Of course, the coal is disposable or you can view it. How
you can find coal interesting, beats me.

[6.01] New Years

In this party pack, there is a new holiday party option. You now have the
ability to throw a New Year's Bash. Unlike normal parties, there are two
guidelines, opposing the usual one, time. You can only throw the party in the
hours of 9am and 8pm inclusive. Second, the party does not start immediately,
unlike regular parties like the toga party, sports party, house party, etc.
The party will only start AFTER, and I repeat AFTER, 8pm. I'll highlight the
fact that you do not need an item to start the party, unlike obtaining the
holiday roast. When your guests arrive, they will make a fair amount of noise,
which is normal, since normal humans celebrate new year with a BANG! While in
the party, an old man will arrive, standing with a long, white beard, shaggy
white clothes and a belt. He will arrive at about 10pm with the name of Father
Time. You have the option of talking to him or calling him over. And he does
not have any hair, he is bald. At about 11:30, he will pull out an hourglass
and shake it. At midnight, the old man will change into a toddler, well,
actually disappear and gets replaced by a toddler, Toddler New Year. He will
start dancing and will wear a black top hat, a white sash and a diaper. He
will disappear later on, you can't expect him to stay forever. Other than
that, it is a regular party, with the party score and timer. When the old
Father Time changes into the toddler, everyone will come and watch. Remarkable
really.

[6.02] Others

People claim to have hosted Christmas Parties. You can only host Christmas
Parties if you have a regular party and pretend it is a Christmas party.
Although there are Halloween and Easter Items, you cannot celebrate those
parties, just to clarify that up.

[7.01] Poking Fire

Okay, I'm not sure about these two. If they were included in Nightlife, the
Holiday Pack, Sims 2 Base or University, I'm not sure. But for safety reasons,
they belong here. When you light a fire at the fireplace, you can interact
with the fire. Of course, you can view the fire, but you can also poke the
fire, for no real reason, or you can warm self where essentally, you point
your rear end at the fire to warm yourself. Meh.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[7.02] Calling

Another one I'm not so sure of. When you serve, you can call to meal. You can
have the selection of Guests, Household or Everyone. Guests will call only
guests in the house to dinner. Household will be everyone that you can play
in the house. Everyone is everyone. I know for sure that you need a guest in
the house, to get the option guests. Others, I'm not so sure of.

[--.01] Questions

Q. Is it possible to get Christmas Parties
A. Some say it is possible but others (mainly on the Sims 2 BBS) say that it
is confirmed not possible without mods, which are not Maxis approved. Not
   my problem.

Q. When can I get it?
A. Well, Maxis will be selling the pack until January 24th I think. After that
deadline expires, I don't think that they will sell it anymore. Oh, and
the year the deadline expires is 2006.

Don't write in sloppy English. I mean, who the hell would understand "Hwo Od
Yoi Di Tjih Ni Tje Sdgs?" Don' be too formal, a question is not a freakin
business agreement so don't say "Dear Sir, In accordance to your Walkthrough
to the PC Game, The Sims 2, ..." it makes me wonder if I'm talking to a freak
the President of the United States of America or Bill Gates or Donald Trump.

I will credit you if your send me information about this game that is not in
the FAQ. I will also be grateful if you see this FAQ somewhere else other than
Gamefaqs or a site which has my permission. If you do, tell me so I can kick

Technical Problems I will not answer as they should be sent to Maxis not me.
I didn't design the game so I shouldn't know what's wrong with it, its your
