To biuld a Star Base you need to reseach either a deep space constructor(TEC/Advent) or an ability for the colonizer ship(Vasari), but either way that ship is consumed is the construction of the star base. Star Bases are semi custumizable becuase unlike a capital ship where you have to level up but you can get all the abilities you pay in resources and can only uprage 8 things. they also Take 100% of enemy ships anti-matter and 33% of their total health(without research) when they phase jump away from the gravity well it's in. Some of these upgrades need research to upgrade like the merchant bays and you can only upgrade 3 different areas without reseach. Anyway let's get to the Star Bases. (Note:the Damages and hull/shields are without research.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [TECSB] Faction:TEC Build Time: Cost:1000 Credits, 100 Metal, 125 Crystal Constructor:Raloz Heavy Constructor Starting Hull Strength:3000 Starting Shield Strength:2000 Starting Squadron Capacity:0 Starting Weapons:Laser Cannons:Damage:117 Starting Trade Income:0 Starting Shield Restore Rate:3.0 Starting Hull Restore Rate:1.5 Starting Armour:6.0 Max Hull Strength:13500 Max Shield strength:7250 Max Squadron Capacity:14 Max Weapons:Laser Cannons:Damage:117 Beam Turrets:Damage:112 Rockets:Damage:119 Max Trade Income:3 Max Anti-Matter:300 Upgrades:Weapons:Level 1:Beam Cannons are installed giving the star Base a short range attack. Each Faction Has two types of mines exept the TEC who only have one type. One Faction can only have 150 mines per gravity well. Mines come in sets of 10. Stars can have 500 mines ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [TECMN] The TEC only have one type of mine which is deployed in the Tactical Structures menu on a planet you control. The constructor will activate the mines. Name:Proximity Mines Faction:TEC Cost:510 Credits, 130 Metal, 55 Crystal Activated by:Constructor ship Hull:25 Notes:These are the cheapest mines which have the same Attack strength, Hull Strength, and Accuracy as The Vasari Explosive Mines, but can only be placed at planets you own so really the TEC and Vasari Explosive Mines are Equal(cost and the Variety of places you can place them cancel each other out in my mind). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [VASMN] The Vasari are the best mine wise in my opinion, they can lay both of their mines anywhere unlike how the TEC and Advent each have 1 type of mine only available from Planets/some units the Vasari Mine layer(the Ruiner)can phase jump to different planets. The Vasari Have Two different types of Mines, There are the normal mines and Gravity Mines, normal mines are, well, normal, they Explode when an enemy comes close. Gravity Mines prevent acceleration and movement for a while. Name:Gravity Mines Faction:Vasari Cost:570 Credits, 135 Metal, 70 Crystal Activated by: Ruiner Hull:25 Notes:Stops all Movement and Acceleration also Apparently it makes the ships have trouble hitting your ships to. Name:Exposive Mines Faction:Vasari Cost:570 Credits, 135 Metal, 70 Crystal Activated by: Ruiner Hull:25 Notes:Basicly the same as the TEC Mines but more expensive(mabey for the ability to be placed any where). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ADVMN] The Advent have one mine type, Homing Mines. Homing mines are deployed by Hanger Defences and Aria Drone Hosts, then after one of creates a Homing mine squadron, you can click on the squadron and you will have the option of deploy mines, then after you click that you can place the mines and they will go there and set up. These Actually only come in Groups of 9. Name:Homing Mines Faction:Advent Cost:530 Credits, 120 Metal, 65 Crystal Activated by:Homing Mine Squadron Hull:25 Notes:These are the most effective mines when it comes to accuracy, since they Home in on enemies that get to close, but cost similarly for 1 compared to Vasari costs for 1 mine(even though you place them groups of 10). Over all this is the best Mine since it is slightly cheaper than Vasari Mines and is most likely to hit so I recommend this mine over the other explosive mines. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STRAT] This is for situations that will happen in game and what to put into your Star Bases and where to put your mines if you're each faction and you think it will happen/it has happened. Situation 1 Enemies come through a worm hole. TEC:Biuld a Star Base at the wormhole(near the worm hole itself so it can attack anything that comes out) and upgrade all Squadron Capacity, weapons systems, and 2 Structural Integrety upgrades, leaving one upgrade available for future use. Add in some Hoshico Robotics Cruisers, Kodiak Heavy Cruisers, some Light Carriers, and one or two Command Cruisers. Vasari:Build a Star Base and move it to the worm hole. Upgrade All Squadron Capacity, all weapons, 1 structural Integrety, and 1 of either Phase stabilizer arrays(if you have a Fleet at a planet with a Phase stabilizer),Frontal Delfector shield, or Debris Vortex. Move a Fleet there unless you took the Phase Stabilizer Arrays. Finally lay some mines around the wormhole and when the enemy comes if you chose the Phase stabilizer move your fleet to the worm hole. Make sure to lay a balance of Gravity and Regular mines. Advent:Build a Star Base next to the worm hole. Upgrade All Squadron Capacity, all weapons, 1 structural Integrety, and 1 Meteor Control. Finally lay some mines around the wormhole and move a small fleet to the worm hole. Situation 2 One of your/your allies planets is commonly Assalted by enemies. TEC:Biuld a Star Base at the planet(near the planet itself and orbital structures so it can attack anything that come near)and upgrade 2 Squadron Capacity, all weapons systems, and 2 Structural Integrety upgrades, and 1Auxilaury Government leaving one upgrade available for future use. Add in some Hoshico Robotics Cruisers, Kodiak Heavy Cruisers, some Light Carriers, and one or two Command Cruisers. Vasari:Build a Star Base and move it to the Planet. Upgrade All Squadron Capacity, all weapons, 1 structural Integrety, and 1 Enforced loyalty. Move a Fleet there then Finally lay some mines around the wormhole and when the enemy comes if you chose the Phase stabilizer move your fleet to the worm hole. Make sure to lay a balance of Gravity and Regular mines. Advent:Build a Star Base next to the Planet. Upgrade All Squadron Capacity, all weapons, 1 structural Integrety, and 1 Enduring Devotion. Finally lay some mines around the Planet and move a small fleet to the Planet. Situation 3 You get Hit by a Korusto Cannon shell. Every One:If you find your enemy has one of these or you think they might have one always keep small forces of ships(2 Light Frigates, 3 Long Range)at every planet. This will take alot of fleet supply, but if a planet gets hit you can grab the ships from nearby planets and pull them to that planet. Other than That All I can say is keep a stash of resources(set something you can't go below when spending)so you can rebuild quick. Also Upgrade your Star Bases Health and Hull+Shield Research(in the Military Tree). Situation 4 You get Hit by a Novalith Shell. Every One:If you find your enemy has one of these or you think they might have one Upgrade the health(Emergancy Facilities)of your Planets, and Build Star Bases on your planets and get 1 point in Auxilary Government/Enduring Devotion to prevent the loss of the planet, and try to destroy the Novalith(but remain well defended so that you will survive a moderate attack). Situation 5 You get hit by a Advent Super Weapon Shell Every One:If you find your enemy has one of these or you think they might have one Keep a strong Culture by putting it on every other planet you own(or if you want to be really cautious put 1 on one planet, then 2 on the next, then 1, then 2, and so on, to prevent severe loss of culture, also put Capital ships near each planet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [-FAQ-] FAQs: none right now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [CREDS] Credits:-StarDock & IronClad for making the game. -Me(Alex Harvey/CanadianSheldon) for writing this, and finding all this about each Star Base. -You the reader there's no point to writing something no one will read. -GameFAQs, SuperCheats, and Neo Seeker for hosting this. -Some people on the GameFAQs boards for Info on Posting a guide. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [VRHIS] version|DD/MM/YYYY|What was Added ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.50 |11/02/2010|Title, Table of Contents, Introduction, FAQ, Credits, | |Contact, Copy Right, Format for Star Base Information, Most | |TEC Informatation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.55 |18/02/2010|Some Advent and Vasari Information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.60 |24/02/2010|Comparison Table and over all ratings,More Information on | |each Faction, Finished TEC Star Bases Information. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0.80 |25/02/2010|Sections on Space Mines,Stratagy Section, Completed | |Infromation on Vasari Star Bases. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.00 |27/02/2010|Fixed part of the space Mines Section, Completed Information | |for the Advent and TEC.
