 1) INTRODUCTION TO WALKTHROUGH
********************************

Welcome to my very in-depth and extensive walkthrough for Quake
II. I know this walkthrough is about ten years late in the making and
I decided to write a guide for it because I haven't seen many homemade
walkthroughs posted for this game on the internet, which is surprising
because of the popularity of this game. Now that Quake 4 is out and
has this game and its two expansions on it as a bonus, this game will
probably rise in popularity once again, if only a little. The biggest
reason I want to write a walkthrough for this game is purely nostalgic
and I feel like going back to my roots for this was the very first FPS
game I ever played and it was on and poppin' from there, I've been
hooked on FPS games ever since. This game is great and was destined to
be a classic the day it was released. Plenty of fun, a nice size
arsenal of weapons at your disposal, a tremendously high body count,
decent size levels, tons of secret areas to try and find, not too short
a game, and of course let's not forget all of the violence. Here in
2007 this game may seem graphically challenged, straight forward, and a
bit too basic but this game was the absolute shit when it came out.
Here's some interesting food for thought: the U.S. Marines used to use
this game (and several others) to desensitize our soldiers to killing
humans so they wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger in combat. For
real, no bullshit.

 3) YOUR MISSION
*****************

The Strogg is an alien race of cyborgs hell bent on taking over
Earth and converting all of us humans into cyborgs so they can
incorporate us into their race. Your mission is to go to the planet
Stroggos and stop them before they head out on a mission to Earth to
end civilization and the human race as we know it.

INCOMING MESSAGE FROM TCM MARINE COMMAND:

We have cleared the interplanetary gateway between Earth and
Stroggos. In exactly three hours operation Alien Overlord will
commence. As I speak to you, your pods are being fueled and all
systems brought online. The following intel brief will provide you
with your military objectives, terrain information, arsenal and
equipment details, and enemy analysis. Never before has there been a
greater challenge to life, liberty, and civilization. This is a
crusade in which we will accept nothing less than victory. No matter
how long it may take us to overcome the Strogg's barbaric assault, the
people of Earth in their righteous might will win through to absolute
victory. Today we will make very certain that this form af barbaric
treachery shall never endanger us again. With confidence in you, and
with the unbending determination of our people, we will gain the
inevitable triumph - so help us God. So go forth and kick ass
soldiers!

OPERATION ALIEN OVERLORD:

GEOGRAPHY: The core of the Stroggos civilization is the capital city
of Cerberon. The highly defended complex is built into the base of an
enormous crater named Crater Majoris. Between the northern plains and
the southern sea of Stroggos, Cerberon contains the major defense,
communication, and political controls for Strogg civilization. At the
southern tip of Majoris is a second crater called Crater Minor. Crater
Minor contains the defense base complex for the city of Cerberon.

POLITICAL STRUCTURE: The Strogg civilization is governed through a
system of Warlords. Each is given strategic command and control. A
single leader, called the Makron, is chosen from the Warlords. He
commands Stroggos from within the palace city located at the northern
end of Cerberon. Losing him would leave the Strogg confused and in
turmoil as the Warlords battle internally to determine a successor.
This would remove any chance Stroggos has for creating a well organized
strike or defensive position.

DEFENSE SYSTEMS: Guarding Stroggos is a defense system we refer to as
the Big Gun. This defense system detects and destroys any ship over a
few meters in length. Also, to protect against ground assaults, a
deadly laser security grid surrounds the entire capital city.

ENERGY RESOURCES: Bluish crystals called Steedium are the source for
most of the energy that powers Stroggos. The energy gained from
processing these crystals provides them with power to run their entire
civilization as well as their planetary defense weapons systems (a.k.a.
the Big Gun).

MILITARY OBJECTIVES:

Your primary objectives are to establish a communications uplink,
destroy the planetary defense systems, disable the interplanetary
gateway, and assassinate the Makron commander. Once the communication
link is made, subsequent communications will guide troops to their
primary targets, destroy targets of opportunity, and provide necessary
ground support for the follow-up air strike.

COMMUNICATIONS UPLINK: Your first objective is to establish an uplink
between command and the Strogg communication computers. These are in
the exterior military base south of the main capital of Cerberon. This
will enable continued communications, location information, and combat
analysis beyond the base complex. Failure to establish this uplink is
not an option. Once on the planet, the combat situation may change
quickly. It is imperitive that you regularly check your computer
systems for updated orders.

DESTROY THE BIG GUN: From the base make your way past the security
systems and move north to destroy the Big Gun located on the southern
outskirts of the city. Further intel will provide information to
achieve this objective.

DISABLE THE GATEWAY: Disable the interplanetary gateway between Earth
and Stroggos. Shutting down the gateway will prohibit the Strogg from
launching further attacks against Earth.

ASSASSINATE THE MAKRON: Finally, locate the Strogg commander somewhere
within the capital palace. Assassinating the Makron will assure
complete and total disarray within the enemies ranks and hamper any
well organized strike or defensive position. Good luck.

useless.

5) COMBAT SUITS AND FLAK JACKETS: Adds 15 - 50 to your armor, cannot
collect if above 200 armor.

6) BODY ARMOR: Adds 75 - 100 to your armor, cannot collect if above

=======================================================================

************
 5) WEAPONS
************

1) BLASTER: Just a common futuristic handgun that doesn't quite cut it
against the Strogg.

2) SHOTGUN: This is a pretty weak weapon and the range is short so
don't use this on distant enemies.

3) SUPER SHOTGUN: A very powerful futuristic Shotgun that will drop
the Strogg like ten ton bricks. The range is a bit further than the
Shotgun but it's more effective at close range, preferably point blank
range in the chest.

4) MACHINE GUN: This compact weapon is quite effective against the
weaker Strogg. Your accuracy decreases with distance and you'll have
to wrestle the controls to keep your sights on target 'cause this
little gun has a nasty kickback and will vibrate all over the place to
throw you off target.

5) CHAIN GUN: The same weapon Jesse Ventura used in "The Predator" and
Arnie use in "Terminator 2". This weapon kicks serious ass and is very
effective on all of the cyborgs running around and will shred them up
like tissue paper. You can blow through 200 rounds in about five
seconds so shoot this off is short bursts.

6) GRENADE: Just a simple time delayed grenade, hold down the trigger
for a few seconds to throw them further and to cook the grenade. If
cooking you have about four seconds to throw it or it will blow up in
your face to take it off.

7) GRENADE LAUNCHER: For some reason all grenade launchers suck in
FPS's, with the exception of this one. Very effective if you shoot an
enemy right in the face with a grenade, just aim kind of high as
they're running towards you to stop them dead in their tracks.

8) ROCKET LAUNCHER: This is a really good weapon and will take out the
bigger Strogg with just a couple of rounds. The blast radius is quite
large when a round explodes so don't use this weapon at close range.
It takes some practice to master this weapon, it's really easy to miss
a Strogg firing this.

9) RAIL GUN: This weapon fires hollow depleted uranium slugs at super
high velocities like that weapon in the movie "Eraser." This weapon is
quite powerful against the tougher foe and one round will cut through
several enemies at once if they happen to be in a straight line.

10) HYPER BLASTER: This is one of the most powerful weapons in the
game and cuts through all the Strogg running around like hot knives
through butter. As like the Chain Gun you can waste all of your ammo
for this by holding down the trigger, short bursts are all you need to
kill a Strogg.

11) BFG: The BFG stands for "Big Fuckin' Gun" 'cause this thing is
huge and causes utter devestation. As you can probably guess by its
name, this is obviously the most powerful weapon in the game. It
shoots a big green plasma like sphere that will shoot laser beams to
lock onto a room full of enemies and then splatter them all into bloody
little chunks that are just the right size to season and stew in the
crockpot, those MREs just don't cut it after so long.

=======================================================================

************
 6) ENEMIES
************

1) GUARDS: They are the weakest of the Strogg and kind of look like a
certain Star Wars character who is way overated. They are armed with
blasters, shotguns, or machine guns and go down quite easily with your
primary Blaster, a Shotgun blast to the chest will also drop these
morons with one shot.

2) ENFORCER: These muscle bound cyborg bullies are armed with chain
guns to rip you a new bung hole. They are fairly powerful Strogg and
will prove to be quite the menace, especially when they get right up in
your face and pump you full of lead. If you blow their heads off then
the Chain Gun on its arm will go ballistic so try not to get wasted by
the stray bullets zinging around.

3) GUNNER: These are fair size Strogg that like to charge right up to
you and start blasting you in the face with fully automatic gun fire
and pelt you with grenades from a distance. Take these out from a afar
with the Rail Gun or a blast to the chest from your Rocket Launcher.

4) BERSERKER: They are about the same size as Gunners but they don't
shoot at you. One of their arms is a hammer and the other is a sharp
spike and they will run right up to you and slash/bash you to throw
you back about ten feet. Your best defense here is a point blank Super
Shotgun blast in their face, problem solved.

5) IRON MAIDEN: Female cyborgs hell bent on killing men. These chics
are absolutely brutal and are armed with a Rocket Launcher that will
piss all over your parade. If they get upclose to you they'll begin to
slash you with their claws, how ironic. The Rail Gun and Hyper Blaster
are good defenses while fighting these PMS rampaging cyborgs.

6) GLADIATOR: These things are quite big, get around on huge robotic
legs and are armed with a Rail Gun that will surely ruin your weekend.
These cyborgs are pretty fast considering their size and they will be
all over you within a matter of seconds if you don't take them out
quickly. The Rocket Launcher is one of your best defenses here, the
best defense is to strafe left or right after you fire a round their
way.

7) PARASITE: These are basically Strogg pets and attack you with their
really looong tongues to inflict massive damage. The best way to deal
with these are to stand at least twenty feet back and launch a couple
of grenades at it.

8) MEDIC: These Strogg are really quick and will kill you faster than
Star Jones can suck down a pack of twinkies so use anything heavy you
have in your arsenal to take them out. They are quite large and walk
really low to the ground and since they have incredible speed the
crouching makes them rather hard targets from afar.

9) BARACUDA SHARK: These vicious fish have insanely sharp teeth and
are obviously only found in water. The Shotgun works quite well
against these things.

10) BRAINS: Freaky cyborgs with tentacle arms that stretch out your
way and cause massive damage if they happen to wrap around you, they
also have some sort of protective shield around them. The Super
Shotgun is a good choice to take them down, so is the Hyper Blaster.

11) TECHNICIAN: These flying cylinders are actually tiny brains
suspended in some kind of preserving fluid. These things are nearly
silent and will always seem to surprise you. The Hyper Blaster will
shred these things up in half a second.

12) MUTANT: The only entirely flesh enemy in the game. They usually
hang around in caves and can leap across entire rooms to land on your
head to slice-n-dice you. These things are really quick and grenades
or rockets from a distance is the best defense when you see them.

13) FLYER: These are little cyborg bird/planes that will seriously
piss you off at some point in the game. They mostly hang around
outdoors and whenever you're outside always keep an eye in the sky or
they will sneak up on you and shit all over your parade.

14) ICARUS: Strogg idiots flying around on jet-packs. Use the Chain
Gun to send them spinning like a top until they explode. Use the Super
Shotgun if they get up close and personal with you.

15) TANK: Besides bosses these are the biggest, baddest, meanest,
toughest, and deadliest Strogg around so be careful while you fight
them. They are extremely tough and brutal opponents and will inflict
massive damage if you let them for they are armed with a Rocket
Launcher, Chain Gun, and Super Blaster. You can always hear their
hydraulic legs moving from a distance so keep your ears keen. Use
anything heavy in your arsenal to take them down, a blast from the BFG
right to the chest and a Rail Gun slug in the face will do the deed
with ease.

=======================================================================

*************************
 7) HINTS AND STRATAGIES
*************************

     - Take your time while exploring and enter rooms or areas very
slowly. If there are Strogg in the room and they start attacking you,
back out of the area and they will almost always follow you. Try to
lure them out of the rooms a few at a time instead of charging right
in. Or perhaps maybe you're like me and can deal with hairy situations
and charge into every room and wreak havoc. If you do it the way I
choose you'll improve your overall FPS gaming skills.

     - A vital key to your survival is to keep moving while under
attack. Don't just stand there like an idiot and try to act like Rambo
and let the Strogg charge up to you. Back up and strafe all over the
place while fighting these cretants and whatever you do, don't back
yourself up into a corner. And don't forget that you can strafe
diagonal. Strafing diagonally is highly effective dodging numerous
enemies gunfire, especially if raining down from above.

     - Take cover behind anything you can find when fired upon with the
exception of expolding barrels and crates. Common sense I know but a
lot of people out there don't have one shred of it.

     - You will want to use corners to your advantage while fighting
the stronger Strogg. Strafe around a corner and launch a round and
quickly retreat until the return fire stops, repeat this process to
avoid taking tons of damage than by doing the alternate choice of
charging down a corridor head on into a Tank 'cause you'll lose.

     - You will also want to use elevated positions to your advantage.
In this game you'll come across numerous situations where you'll be on
a ledge high above a room full of Strogg. In most FPS games you will
always have an advantage firing from an elevated position without too
much worry about accurate return fire so keep this mind and use this
tip wherever the situation calls for it.

     - Explore every nook and cranny on every level. You would be
surprised at all the stuff lying all over the place just waiting to be
found that you would never know about if you don't explore the realms.

     - Try to save all of the health and armor until you absolutely
need it. It's a pain in the ass back tracking to it but it is well
worth it. Weak characters don't stand a chance against the Strogg.

     - Use all of the explosive barrels and crates found throughout the
game to your advantage. Wait for the Strogg to go near the barrels or
crates and then blow them up to wipe the Strogg out with ease.

      - Launch grenades around corners to kill enemies without the
damaging return fire.

     - Save in-game items like the Quad Damage, Invulnerability, and
Power Shields until the later levels. Trust me, you'll be very sorry
if you waste all of the in-game items as soon as you get them.

     - You should always try to swim as far as you can before equipping
a Rebreather, 90% of the time you can make the swim no problem without
a Rebreather so keep this in mind.

     - In the earlier levels some enemies hang around alarms and will
sound them if they see you to make more Strogg come out to play. Kill
these alarm sounding Strogg immediately, you'll be one sorry mug if
they sound the alarm let me assure you.

     - When possible jump into the water and stay below the surface to
avoid being hit by enemy gunfire. Just look around for Baracuda Sharks
while you're in the water because they are very sneaky.

     - This next strategy works well and is the top piece of advice I
can give any FPS gamer. While strafing near an enemy you can circle
him buy strafing left or right while keeping your sights locked on him
as you strafe left or right. It takes some practice to master but once
you do, use it on all your friends in multi-player, they'll hate you
for it! This stratagey works in every first person shooter out there
so remember it and use it in all of your FPS games. If you're playing
this game on the N64 console to pull this move off you must hold down
the R button as you strafe around the enemy, or so I was told.

     - And most importantly, don't ever give up and believe in
yourself. By doing so you can master this, or any game, in no time.

 8) GAME WALKTHROUGH
*********************

NOTE TO PC PLAYERS: This game is old school and to be able to use the
mouse to look around you must go into the options menu and change FREE
LOOK to yes.

SECOND NOTE TO PC PLAYERS: If you happened to pick up an old copy of
this game used at a yard sale or a video game store and are using the
Windows XP OS on your computer, you will have problems installing the
game. The only way you'll be able to is to manually install it. If
you have Quake 4 and it came with Quake II on it as a bonus, installing
this game will be no problem. Here's how to manually install the game:

STEP 1:

Click Start, then click all programs, then click accessories, open the
command prompt by clicking on it, this is DOS in case you're not
familiar with computers and you can access any program or file on your
computer by using DOS alone.

STEP 2: TYPE THIS IN DOS LINE FOR LINE (in case you're computer
illiterate don't type in the parenthesis or what's insinde them, do the
action):

cd\ (hit enter)
md (space) quake2 (hit enter)
cd\quake2 (hit enter)
xcopy (space) e:\install\data\*.*/s/e/v (hit enter)

Files will begin to copy, this may take several minutes for slower
computers. Note that in the last line e: is the designated letter for
most CD/DVD drives and if yours happens to be different just type in
the letter for your CD/DVD drive. After the files are done copying
type in exit and hit enter, this closes DOS.

STEP 3:

Click on the C: drive (or whatever drive the game went to) and open the
Quake 2 folder. Right click on the quake2.exe file, copy the file
(it's the file with the Quake symbol OR a white window with a blue bar
on top). Close the window and on your desktop right click and paste
the shortcut to Quake 2. Right click on the shortcut and select
properties, when the properties window opens select the short cut tab.
The third line down is a line called Target. DON'T DELETE WHAT'S
ALREADY TYPED IN THERE! At the end of the target line add this:

(space) +set (space) cddir (space) E:\install\data (space) +set (space)
basedir (space) C:\QUAKE2

So there's no confusion or errors note that in the above lines +set,
the first + is a plus sign, the last t is the letter t. Also note that
E: should be whatever letter your CD/DVD drive is and
C: should be the letter of the drive where the game installed to. Now
you can run the game and have fun. If for some reason this manual
installation doesn't work for you (it should no problem if you didn't
screw up the target line or the letters for your drives), you'll have
to contact Activision technical support at www.activision.com/support
and they should get you up and running in no time. They'll most likely
tell you to do the same thing I just did.

                      ***********************
                      * NOTE TO ALL PLAYERS *
                      ***********************

If you use this guide I want you to know that I fail to mention a
ton of enemies so be on constant guard, I don't want to be a total game
spoiler on you. I will also fail to mention lots of health and ammo
since these items are everywhere so keep your eyeballs peeled. You'll
also notice that I have missed a lot of secret areas, I will add them
in here if I ever find them. If you guys find the ones I missed and
want to e-mail their locations so I can add them to this guide it will
be greatly appreciated, I will of course credit you for the find.

--------------
~ OUTER BASE ~
--------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Establish communication link to command ship.

  Secondary Objective:
- Locate base installation elevator.

  Secret Areas: 2/3

As soon as you start there will be barells in front of you, shoot
them to cause an explosion to reveal a doorway. Approach it and go to
the left just before it and go down the incline collecting some
Stimpacks. A doorway leading into a corridor is in front of you and a
hole is in the wall on the left. Crouch into the hole and grab a Flak
Jacket worth 25 armor. Walk down the narrow path you're now on and
climb over a broken pillar on the left when you get to it. Grab a
couple of Stimpacks on the right and drop down into the hole where
another broken pillar fell and look for a Shotgun by a stack of crates
along with some ammo for it, be weary of the Guards down here. Behind
the crates are some barrels, go shoot them to reveal a cracked floor
beneath them, shoot the crack to form a hole and drop into it. Crouch
down, head left and MAKE sure you keep the wall to your left, it's very
dark in here and you can use your Blaster rounds to lighten the place
up a little. Continue left keeping the wall on the left and go into a
corridor that will appear on the left, continue along and grab the
Adrenaline, then climb the ladder on the right. Climb up onto the
crates you'll see and you'll be back where you started the game.

Head right and go through the corridor and grab some Armor Shards
on the left and blast away at some more Guards. There will be a
doorway on the right leading outside, go out there and head down the
stairs. Go and crouch under the stairs to find a secret area with a
Silencer. Go back up the stairs and continue down the corridor on the
right, you'll see an open window on the right and you can jump through
it to grab a few Stimpacks on the left. Continue down the corridor and
go through a door, you'll see stairs on the right, enter the room and
get ready to meet a couple of Enforcers. These Strogg are very deadly
and tough opponents, your arsenal is pathetic right now so it will take
a few shotgun blasts to take them down. If you shoot their heads off
then 90% of the time the Chain Gun on its arm will go ape shit so watch
out. Collect the ammo and look for a yellow switch on the ceiling
behind the stairs to reveal a secret area with grenades in it, now head
up the stairs and follow the corridor to an elevator on the left, step
into it and press the button to end this level.

~ INSTALLATION ~
----------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Establish communication link to command ship.

  Secondary Objective:
- Use sewer tunnel to gain access to Comm Center.

  Secret Areas: 1/2

As soon as the elevator doors open blast away at some Guards.
Grab all the ammo, health, and shards lying about and go through the
doorway, head left and you'll run into a control panel, press the red
button to the left of it, this will lower the gate to the left so you
can grab the Machine Gun and some ammo for it. It will take you a
little practice to get used to firing this weapon due to its kickback,
just shoot short bursts until you can control the kickback. Kill some
more Strogg, grab the ammo and health in here if you need it and then
step into the elevator in the back right corner. To your right is an
open doorway, don't go through it yet, follow the walkway to the left
all the way to the end to collect a bunch of ammo, health, and shards.
Turn around and follow the walkway back to the doorway you didn't go
through, on the way back you'll find a Flak Jacket inside of a wall
that opened. Continue down the corridor and go through the open
doorway on the right to be outside once again. Go right past the
broken bridge and head down the stairs, you'll see a large sewer pipe
to your right, to the left of it is a small tunnel. Go into the watery
tunnel, not the sewer pipe, and you'll be in a large room with a bunch
of pillars all around and a doorway leading into another water filled
room. Look for a cracked wall to the right of the doorway and shoot it
for a secret area and grab the Shotgun. Return to the sewer drain and
enter it, press the button on the wall to open a large grate next to
you, drop into it for the next level.

~ COMM CENTER ~
---------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Establish communication link to command ship.

  Secondary Objective:
- Locate Comm Center.

  Secret Areas: 1/2

Head forwards to a doorway, drop into the water on the left and
quickly swim under the grate to find some grenades. Surface and go
through the doorway, follow the corridor to a large room with more
water in it, waste all the creeps and you'll spot a closed door, don't
go through it yet. Walk around the room and grab the Rebreather, this
allows you to breathe underwater for 30 seconds, grab all the ammo past
the Rebreather and do a cannon ball into the water. There are two
holes in the floor, one is located at the bottom of some stairs and one
behind the stairs. Go through either one and swim through a long
corridor (you can make it without the Rebreather if you're fast enough
so don't waste it) and surface into a secret area. Go through the hole
in the wall and step into the elevator in front of you for a secret
level.

_______________________________________________________________________

------------------------------
~ SECRET LEVEL: LOST STATION ~
------------------------------

  Objective:
- Locate a powerful weapon.

  Secret Areas: 3/6

Grab the shells in front of you and snag that Flak Jacket behind
the crate on the right. Continue down the corridor and a locked door
will be on the left, so go through the door on the right and you'll see
a trolley car, wait for it to go away and then jump into the water
beneath it, swim down the tunnel on the left for a secret area, in here
are some Stimpacks, another Rebreather, Armor Shards and ammo. Press
the green button on the wall to unlock the previously locked door, it
opens so head through the door in front of you and take a trolley ride.
When it stops, get out and wait for it to go away, don't go through the
closed door yet. There are three sets of water, one directly below the
trolley, one to the left of the trolley, and another one to the right
of the trolley far below. Go into the water left of the trolley and
kill some Baracuda Sharks. There is a strange yellow button on the
wall, shoot it to make a wall open at the other end of the tunnel.
Swim in there and surface into another secret area. To the left is an
elevator, hop on and ride up to some ammunition, shoot the Guards
across the way by the Red Key. Ride the elevator back into the water
and go left and surface, kill all the enemies and grab all of the items
you see.

Swim back to where the trolley dropped you off and surface, then
head through the closed door. You'll start walking up an incline, walk
up it about ten steps and turn around, shoot the yellow switch above
you and you'll raise up there, grab the Red Key you just saw a minute
ago. Go back up the incline to the top of the stairs and go through
the door, there's a closed door ahead of you and a passage to the
right, grab the shards on the right and follow the passage. You'll see
a yellow switch above you, shoot it and then quickly retreat until the
trap stops firing. Go back down the passage and through the opening on
the left and drop into the water below, search for a secret area with
some Adrenaline in it. Ride the elevator back up and go through the
closed door you didn't go through a minute ago, follow the corridor to
another door and walk on through. Head left or right to emerge into a
large watery area with a large pillar in the middle of the floor. Kill
all of the Strogg, grab all the Stimpacks and ammo in the water, then
approach the pillar and ride the elevator to the top of the pillar.
Put the Red Key in the console to lower a bridge, go across it and head
through the door to find a Super Shotgun and complete the objective for
this level. This weapon kicks serious ass so make sure you put it to
good use. Now make your way back to the previous mission being weary
of all the Strogg hunting you down.

~ COMM CENTER REVISITED ~
-------------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Establish communication link to command ship.

  Secondary Objective:
- Locate Comm Center.

  Secret Areas: 2/2

From the elevator head forwards and drop through the hole in the
floor to be back in water. Swim through the tunnel and surface, go
through that door you didn't go though the last time you were in this
area. Kill all the Strogg in this room and head up the stairs wasting
some more. Don't go up the incline yet, walk around to the left and
take some Stimpacks, hop onto the crate to snag the Quad Damage (use
the barrels, don't shoot them) and head up the incline at the top of
the stairs to enter a room with a hole in the floor, down there is an
acid pit so don't jump in. Head into the corridor to the left of the
pit and follow it outside, there will be a locked door across from you
and it requires a Blue Key to open, head through the door on the left
and step into the elevator on the right. Take a ride up and follow the
corridor wasting Strogg everywhere and you'll come to a window on the
right, shoot it out and kill the Gunner that's in the room behind it,
go in there and approach the computer console and use its keyboard,
this will complete your main mission objective and a Blue Key will
appear next to the computer, grab it obviously and your secondary
objective will get updated. Head back to the locked door and keep your
eyeballs peeled for an Enviornment Suit sitting atop some crates, jump
onto it. If you want you can equip it and jump into the acid pit for
some Adrenaline but it's a waste of the suit so don't bother. Go back
to the locked door that needs the Blue Key and head through it to
update your objective. Enter a room with some grenades in a little
container, crouch in there to get them and step onto the elevator, head
through the door ahead of you for the levels exit.

_______________________________________________________________________

----------------
~ INSTALLATION ~
----------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Completed.

  Secondary Objective:
- Locate unit exit and kill all resistance.

  Secret Areas: 2/2

Pull the lever in front of you and you will see a bridge lower
through the grate in front of the lever. Head left and follow the
corridor to emerge outside, blow up those annoying Flyers shooting at
you and you'll spot a broken bridge, DO NOT DROP INTO THE AREA BELOW,
you'll be back near the start of the game if you do and you'll have to
fight your way all the way back up here. Enter another corridor on the
right and follow it around to the bridge you just lowered, cross it and
head through the door. In this corridor look for a hole to drop down
into on the left, do so. Go to the right and you'll find a secret area
on the left with a Super Shotgun. Kill all of the Guards that come
charging after you and look for some stairs to climb. After you do,
climb up the crates on the right to find another Quad Damage, you
should now have two if you didn't waste the other one, save these for
the later levels, you'll be sorry if you don't. Go into the elevator
on the right to exit the installation.

--------------
~ AMMO DEPOT ~
--------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the Strogg logistical train.

  Secondary Objective:
- Find enterance to Supply Station.

  Secret Areas: 2/3

Head forwards and grab the health lying about if you need it, drop
into the area below if you need a Super Shotgun, if not then head
through the door on the right. A locked door is ahead of so go right
and press the button on the wall to open it. Kill all the Strogg and
head through the door they came out of and you'll see another locked
door to the left, press the button next to it and head through it.
There will be enemies above and below you so take them all out and
press the button on the left and step onto the elevator to ride down to
the room below. Down here is another button under a locked door high
above it, press it and go back to the elevator and take a ride back up.
To the left is another elevator, go step onto it and take a ride up,
press the button on the left to make a bridge extend below it, drop
down onto it and head straight through the door to have your first
encounter with a Berserker. A Super Shotgun blast point blank range in
the face is the best way to kill these.

Follow the line of Stimpacks to a door blocked by a force field,
charge into the room left of it and let the slaughterfest begin. When
it's over look for a yellow switch to shot in the room behind the
forcefield to disable it. Go through the now open door and press the
button on the console to make an exploding barrel smash through a door.
Look for another button to press behind you, this will make a secret
area open to your left with some items in it. Go through the door you
just blew open and follow the corridor through a few more doors, you'll
enter a room with a bunch of crates below, grab the Flak Jacket ontop
of one of the crates and drop into the room below. Go through the door
down here and you'll come across a locked one, press the button next to
it to open the door and step onto the elevator. When the ride is over
you'll see two crates hanging by hooks in front of you, press the
button on the console to lower them. Continue to another locked door,
press the button next to it to open it and take another elevator ride
down. Go through the door and you'll spot a bridge going across the
lava, there's a button on the right that lowers the bridge into the
lava but you don't need to press it.

Cross the bridge and drop onto the ledge below just before the
doorway for a secret area, there is a hole down here, drop into it and
step onto the elevator to find the Chain Gun, a really good weapon this
thing is but shoot it off in short bursts or you'll blow through 200
rounds in five seconds if you hold thr trigger down. Drop down to the
bridge below and go through the doorway at the end of the bridge you
didn't pass through before, follow the corridor to a room with water
and crates floating all around, there is a button on the right and a
locked door to the left. Jump into the water and use the crates to
get to the button on the right, this will open up the door across from
you so go through it, just jump along the floating crates to get there.
Follow the corridor to another button, press it to lower yet another
elevator, step on and take a ride up. Go through the door on the right
and follow the corridor passing through several doors and you'll come
to a split, to the right is the Warehouse and to the left is the Supply
Station. To play around in the Warehouse you need Power Cubes so go
into the Supply Station. Blow up the crate on the right and drop into
the hole it was blocking only if you need ammo and health, if not then
go through the door ahead of you to end this level.

_______________________________________________________________________

------------------
~ SUPPLY STATION ~
------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the Strogg logistical train.

  Secondary Objective:
- Collect 4 power cubes to restore back power to the warehouse.

  Secret Areas: 1/3

Kill all the Guards and drop into the area below and go through
the door to the left of the elevator for a secret area with a Combat
Suit. Ride the elevator back up, go left and through the door on the
right. You'll be in a large room with a big crate moving around around
below you. Go right and press the button on the console to make a
crate explode, drop into the room below and climb onto the ledge on the
other side of the room, press the button up here to open a door below
you. Drop down and head through the door, in this room is a bunch of
crates and Strogg, kill them and look for some crates to climb with
some Adrenaline on it. Drop off the crates and head straight to
another button, press it lower an elevator, hop on and take a ride up.
To your left are some laser beams blocking the corridor, take the Power
Cube on your right to disable the lasers.

Head down the corridor the lasers were blocking, head through the
door you'll run into and grab that Flak Jacket on the crates, go step
into yet another damn elevator to take a ride down. There are two
locked doors to your right and a button on the left, press the button
and wait for a moving crate to go through one of the locked doors,
follow it through the door. To your immediate right is a moving
conveyor belt, follow it through a door to see the Strogg logistical
train. Use one of its cars to jump to the other side of the room, kill
the Gunner that's trying to kill you and then press the button you see
on the console to destroy the train and complete your primary
objective. Just past this console is another button, press it to raise
the second Power Cube and take it. Go and crouch under the train car
that exploded to spot a button in the floor, go stand on it and climb
the ladder that drops to find the third Power Cube and a bunch of Armor
Shards.

Go through the wall that drops next to you, follow this vent shaft
to a cover, approach it and it will open so drop down into a room.
Look for a ladder to climb on the left and do so, head into a large
room with crates to your right and kill all the Strogg in here. Look
for a button to press on the wall behind some crates, this lowers some
stairs next to you so go down them. Step onto another elevetor on the
left to take another ride down, kill the Gunner in this dark area and
climb up the ladder you'll see. Press the button on the left to make
two platforms start moving in the room below, go stand on one and take
a ride up. Jump off at the top, go right and through the door to find
the last Power Cube and your objective will get updated, back to the
Ammo Depot we go. Go through the door on the right and clear the room
of Strogg. Climb up a ladder you'll see and press the button on the
console up here to open a door below you, drop down and head through
it. Step onto an elevator and then go up some stairs, follow the
corridor to more stairs going down, continue along to a door and a
button, I think you know what to do. Head through the door to be back
in a room you were in earlier with the moving crate. Go ride the
elevator directly across from you, go through the door on the right and
follow the corridor back to the Ammo Depot to end this level.

-------------
~ WAREHOUSE ~
-------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Completed.

  Secondary Objective:
- Restore power to key Warehouse components.

  Secret Areas: 2/2

Run straight until you enter the Warehouse, open the panel on the
left and insert one of the Power Cubes to restore some power. Ride
another elevator up and enter the Warehouse on the right. Now we're
officially in the Warehouse. The room is pitch black, head forwards
and then down the corridor on the right, open the panel on the wall and
insert another Power Cube to brighten the place up. Take another
elevator ride up on the left, kill the Berserker and continue along to
some stairs, descend them and clear the room of Strogg. In this room
is a conveyor belt and an open doorway, go through the doorway, follow
the corridor to yet another elevator, hop on and take a ride down.
Enter the room with stacks of crates all around and get ready to make
some more scrumptious cyborg jelly for your breakfast bagel. Look for
a Power Cube console and insert a cube to restore more power, turn
around and step onto the platform at the top of the stairs. Now the
conveyor belt is moving you saw a minute ago, step onto it and then go
through the now open door at the other end of it, kill a couple of
Enforcers and hit the two buttons next to you, one to open a door and
the other to lower a platform. Go step onto the platform and go
through the door, then another one to be high above the room on a
ledge, you can see a conveyor belt across from you. Drop into the room
below and insert the last Power Cube into the panel on the wall, this
restores the Warehouse to full power and your objective will get
updated.

Ride the elevator back up to the ledge above you and use the now
moving platforms to jump to that coveyor belt you saw a second ago. Go
across the conveyor belt and hang a left, kill the Gunner and then
press the button behind it, this makes a crate deliver an exploding
crate in front of a door. Shoot it to blow a hole in the door, head on
through and follow the corridor to a button, press it to make a winding
staircase appear in front of you. Go down the stairs and shoot the
first window out when you see it, look behind the crates below to spot
a yellow switch, shoot it and this makes another staircase going down
appear. Go down them to find a secret area, in here is a Flak Jacket,
Adrenaline, and a bunch of health and ammo. Go back up the stairs and
head through the door next to the crates, enter another room with
crates all around and get ready to meet Tank, one bad ass mother f'n
cyborg. Just blast away at it with the Chain Gun and lob some grenades
at it and it shouldn't give you that much trouble, remeber to use
corners to your advantage while fighting a Tank. When it keels over
and dies, go and use the computer he was guarding to unlock a door near
where you entered this room. Go through it and kill the Strogg across
the way, in the room below is a bunch of crates with lots of items on
them, go into the little room on the left and press the button to make
a platform start moving across the room. Look up and you'll see a
yellow switch in the ceiling, shoot it to lower a ladder and then climb
it to find Quad Damage, another ladder is in front of you, ignore it
'cause nothing's up there. Go and jump onto the moving platform and
use it to jump to the ledge on the other side of the room and head
through the door. Press the button on the left and then go through the
door on the right, walk up to the exit sign and press the button, go
onto the conveyor belt in front of you and take a ride to end this
level.

-------------
~ MAIN GATE ~
-------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the security grid surrounding the industrial region.

  Secondary Objective:
- Penetrate the outer jail defenses.

  Secret Areas: 0/2

If you want that Flak Jacket in front of you ontop of the crate
then don't shoot the barrel for that is how you get to the jacket. Go
through the door on the right and kill a couple of Gunners, don't drop
into the water below. Follow the corridor past the Armor Shards and go
through the slamming doors, emerge into a room and kill all the
cyborgs, head outside to the left and then drop into the water below.
Swim through the tunnel you'll see (swim along the surface so you don't
waste a Rebreather if you happen to have one) and you'll emerge into a
large circular room with a tunnel beneath you blocked by spinning
blades. Surface and climb out of the water, grab the Silencer and kill
the Gunner through the slats and shoot the red bar you see on the wall
to stop the spinning blades in the tunnel beneath you. Go and swim
through the tunnel, you may have to crouch in-between the blades, and
then surface, get out of the water and follow the corridor around to
the left to find a bunch of Armor Shards, health and ammo. You'll see
a ladder, shoot the grate off above it and climb it, take the Gunner
out from behind and step onto an elevator straight ahead. Up here is a
switch, go stand on it to make a large door open beneath you. Look
down and kill the Enforcer manning a really big cannon and drop down to
where it is and head through the door that just opened, press the
button and ride the elevator to end this level. The corridor to the
right of this elevator just takes you back near the start of the level
and is loaded with Strogg to piss all over your parade, there's nothing
to find that way but pain and misery so don't bother going to check
shit out.

~ DETENTION CENTER ~
--------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the security grid surrounding the industrial region.

  Secondary Objectives:
- Locate the blue Key Card.
- Use the key card to gain access to Detention Center.

  Secret Areas: 0/2

Go right and grab the probably well needed shells, contine down
some stairs and through the doorway to kill another Tank who is
guarding the door you need the blue Key Card for. Take the Bandolier
(this increases the ammount of ammo you can carry) by his dead body and
go down the stairs on the left, follow the corridor to some more
stairs, head down them and kill another Gladiator, take the blue Key
Card and your secondary objective will get updated. If you need armor
then go into the watery area past the card, if not then back to the
door you need the card for and head on through and your secondary
objective will be updated once again. Go left or right and emerge
outside, to the right is the door you need the red Key Card for,
straight across is an elevator, and left is a closed door. Step onto
the elevator and take a ride up, kill the Gladiator across the way and
waste the Gunner below you. Drop down to the Chain Gun and a bunch of
ammo for it. Drop off of the ledge you're on and go through the door
on the right, then go down the corridor on the right and a Berserker
will come charging after you down some stairs, press the button on the
wall just to the right of the stairs. Go up the stairs and take
advantage of the elevated position and kill the Gladiator down below,
drop down to where it was and you'll see a bunch of fellow Marines
locked in cells. Press the buttons on the walls next to the cells to
open them for ammo and health. After you search the cells (some
Marines leave behind ammo if you kill them) go through the doorway and
press the green button, go left or right and you'll meet a Medic, fast
little freaks so watch out. Go through the door with the green light
in it to end this level for now.

--------------------
~ SECURITY COMPLEX ~
--------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the security grid surrounding the industrial region.

  Secondary Objective:
- Locate the red key card.

  Secret areas: 0/1

Kill the Gunner in front of you and you'll see stairs ahead of
you, a tunnel to the right of you, and a door to your left. Go into
the tunnel on the right and kill the Tank at the end of it by the
yellow lasers. Exit the tunnel and go up the stairs on the right and
follow the corridor to a large room with stairs going down and stairs
going up to your left and right. Go up either set of stairs and go
into the corridor with a bunch of Stimpacks, continue along to the red
Key Card and take it, your objective will get updated and you need to
head back to the Detention Center. On the way back go down the stairs
you didn't before and crouch under them to snag another Bondolier, also
crouch into a container down here for two Quad Damages. Continue back
to the Detention Center.

~ DETENTION CENTER REVISITED ~
------------------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the security grid surrounding industrial region.

  Secondary Objective:
- Find the yellow laser control computer.

  Secret Areas: 0/2

Make your way back to where the door is that requires the red Key
Card to open, do so and head on through. Go through the corridor and
take the Flak Jacket you'll run into if you need it. Continue along
into a room with a grate in the floor, go through the door on the right
and there will be a corridor directly ahead and stairs to your left, go
up them and then down another flight that will be on the right to
finally find another weapon, the Grenade Launcher. This weapon is
quite effective, aim kind of high when you lob a round. You may also
notice that the Strogg are getting to be more heavily infested the
deeper you go into the complex and the game is starting to become a bit
more difficult. Cheer up, you haven't seen nothing yet, wait about
five more levels for some really hairy situations. Go back up the
stairs and through the corridor on the left to an elevator, ride it up
to see some yellow lasers on the right, go use the computer on the left
to disable the yellow lasers and your objective will get updated.
Seems we have to go back to the Security Complex so do so to end this
level.

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the security grid surrounding industrial region.

  Secondary Objective:
- Open control pyramid and locate security pass.

  Secret Areas: 0/1

Go into the tunnel on the right and continue to where the yellow
lasers were blocking the computer console the last time you were in
here, use the computer to make a bridge appear on the right and you'll
have your first run in with an Icarus, the Machine Gun works well on
them. Cross the bridge and head through the door, go down the stairs
and enter a room with another Tank in it, blow his ass up and then head
through the door with the green light in it to end this level for now.

~ THE TORTURE CHAMBERS ~
------------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the security grid surrounding industrial region.

  Secondary Objective:
- Retreive the Data CD from cell block A and gain access to cell
  block B.

  Secret Areas: 1/3

Go down the corridor and kill another Tank, after he drops go
behind where he was standing and go right to find a secret area with a
Hyper Blaster, put this bad boy to use immediately, you should have
plenty of ammo for it. Go back to where you killed Tank and step onto
the button in the floor to lower the elevator in front of it, take a
ride down and face the button on the wall. Go down the corridor on the
left and head down some stairs, you'll come across another set of
stairs going down, don't go down them. Continue along and you'll see
two signs on the wall, cell block A to the right and cell block B to
the left. Go into cell block A and follow the corridor to a cosole
with the Data CD, press the button and grab the CD, step onto the
platform next to you and ride up. Go through the door to see a dude
about to get chopped in half by a saw, grab the Armor Shards on the
right and then through the door on the left. Drop down onto the ledge
below and head into cell block B. Take out another Tank and you'll see
more Marines locked inside of cells below you, drop down there and
search all the cells for a bunch of Stimpacks, inside one of the cells
is a hole in the floor, drop into it. Grab the Rebreather on the right
and head towards the large pipe and it will open, jump into the water
and swim through the very long pipe and surface, get out of the water
and blast some Guards away, use the console you see and your secondary
objective will get updated. Grab the Security Pass by the console and
go through the door, then use the computer console in front of you to
open a door on the right. Head down the corridor and then go through a
door on the right to see an exit sign on the wall, continue along and
go through another door on the right to end this level.

---------------
~ GUARD HOUSE ~
---------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the security grid surrounding industrial region.

  Secondary Objective:
- Find the pyramid key card and return to the Security Complex.

  Secret Areas: 2/3

You'll only be in the Security Complex for a minute so head right
and go through the door, keep following the corridor until you get to
another Tank. After you blow it up drop into the area below and grab
the Power Shield by the downed aircraft next to the door with the green
light, go through the door to enter the Guard House. Search the cells
to your left and right and kill the Marines for some ammo. Go step
onto the platform and take a ride up, follow the corridor to the left
and continue along to some stairs going down into a room, shoot the
barrels to revel a hole in the wall, crouch into the hole for a secret
are and probably a well needed Ammo Pack. Continue down the stairs and
head through a door to emerge outside, grab the Stimpacks on the left
and keep left to find some more and some armor. Drop onto the walkway
below you and go through the door with the Mutant behind it, enter a
room with some cracked doors on the left. Crouch through the door with
hole in it and shoot the cracked wall in front of you for a secret
area. Leave here and go back out the doorway you entered and jump into
the water to find a Mega Health on the bottom. Get out of the water
and go through the doorway to snag a Hyper Blaster, be careful not to
fall into the spike trap below, if you do then just climb the ladder
back up here. Step onto the platform on the left and take a ride up,
continue through a door and follow the walkway to some stairs going up
ahead of you and some stairs going down to your right, go down the
stairs. Shoot the exploding crate to find another Super Adrenaline,
grab the armor in here and follow the corridor to emerge outside and
waste all of the Strogg running around. After you've layed down the
law you'll notice a corridor blocked by a force field, go up the stairs
Tank was on and press the button on the wall to disable the force
field. Head down the stairs by all of the Armor Shards to find another
Power Shield. Go through the now open corridor and continue along to
the pyramid key, your secondary objective will get updated. Make your
way all the way back to the Security Complex to end this level.

Head straight and through the corridor, follow it through a door
and then go up the stairs on the left, this place should look very
familiar by now. Continue along and go down some more stairs, head
straight and you'll be at the pyramid, put the key in the console and
the pyramid will open up, ride the elevator down and head through the
door, press the button to take another elevator ride to enter Grid
Control. Go up the lighted staircase in front of you and to your left
and right are pillars with disappearing lasers, you can go in-between
them for some armor and a Grenade Launcher. Head down either corridor
at the top of the stairs and go left or right. You'll come across some
more laser beams, wait for them to disappear and slowly make your way
down the corridor. When safely down the corridor go step onto either
elevator on the left or right, immediately take out the Tank, after it
croaks qiuckly take down another one. The ground will begin to shake
and the first boss will make an entrance, a Tank Commander, the Hyper
Blaster and straving are your best defenses. After the commander has
fallen, climb down the ladder in the middle of the arena and follow the
pipe along the ceiling to a large blue laser, step onto the elevator
across from the laser and take a ride up. The door in front of you is
blocked by a force field so turn around and look for a green button to
press, do so to expose a large blue diamond laser thing, destroy it to
finally complete your main mission objective. The door that was
previously blocked by the force field is now open, go down the corridor
to exit this area.

  Secondary Objective:
- Toxic conditions found in lower mines. Activate ventilation
  System.

  Secret Areas: 0/2

Grab the Flak Jacket in front of you and follow the corridor on
the left and you'll enter a large cavern with a path going up to the
right, a big grinder type machine in the floor and an elevator to the
left of the grinder. Go up the path on the right to find the Rocket
Launcher, a very good weapon against the stronger Strogg so put this to
good use, just make sure your sights are on target before you fire this
weapon 'cause it's relly easy to miss the enemy. Go step onto the
elevator and kill all the Guards lurking around when the ride stops,
there's a lot of 'em so be quick or be dead. When they're all dead
look in the hole in the floor to spot some Adrenaline, drop down to it
if you want. If you do drop down there, drop down another hole to land
on the grinder and take massive damage, then just step back onto the
elevator to be back up here. Go down the corridor up here and kill a
Gladiator, head left and up the stairs and continue along through
another corridor and eventually emerge outside. Kill the Icarus'
flying around and you'll notice a large hole in the ground with stairs
leading down to a corridor and a large fan blade, don't head down there
yet. Go down the tunnel on the right and continue along to some armor,
go up the tunnel on the right and you'll see a Rocket Launcher in-
between some pillars. Continue along to a button on the floor, stand
on it and go up the stairs on the right, you'll emerge into a large
area with a path on the right and a large steel structure ahead of you,
go towards the structure and walk across the bridge, enter the
structure and press the button on the wall to complete your secondary

Gunners and step onto the button to make a bridge extend, cross it and
go right and follow the corridor to that big hole in the ground. Go
down the stairs and enter the tunnel on the right, take a ride down on
the elevator and then head through the door on the left to end this
level.

a right and follow the corridor to some more stairs, head down them and
clear the room of Strogg. Check under the stairs for a secret area
with some armor and rockets. You'll see a hole in the floor, ignore it
for now. Head through the corridor and waste a couple of Gladiators,
eventually you'll come across two buttons, press them to activate the
drilling machinery and complete your secondary objective. Go back to
the hole I told you to ignore and drop down into it. There are two
tunnels, go down the right one and when you get to an area with slats
across from you, look under the walkway to find a Quad Damage. Turn
around and follow the tunnel back to where you dropped into the hole
and go through the other one to emerge in an area with a couple of
Berserkers, waste them and step onto the elevator to take a ride up.
Drop through the hole in the floor and go through the corridor on the

Head forwards and go down the stairs on the right, waste some more
Strogg and continue through the corridor on the right and crouch under
some slamming doors. Keep following the corridor to waste another
Gladiator and Gunner, pull the lever they were guarding to lower a
bridge and complete half of your secondary objective. Go all the way
back to the start of the level to the elevator you rode down on, press
one of the buttons on it to take a ride down, head through the door and
waste the Gunners. Shoot the red bars on the wall above the Gunners to
lower a large steel door. Search the room for items and head through
the door, follow the tunnel and kill a couple of Mutants, grab the Flak
Jacket on the right and continue along down the tunnel on the left.
You'll come across a huge drill type thing, use the lever on the other
side of it to make a hole appear beneath it, drop down into the hole to
end this level.

---------------
~ LOWER MINES ~
---------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Navigate mines and find entrance to the Factory.

  Secondary Objective:
- Unstable conditions ahead, proceed with caution.

  Secret Areas: 0/0

Head forwards and you'll have your first encounter with some
Technicians. Kill them and pull the lever on the other side of the
room to make a platform start moving across from it. Go and ride the
platform up and hop off in the first room you get to, waste the
Technicians and Gunner, go up the path the Gunner came down and you'll
come to a lever, kill the Tank below, you can use the lever to drop a
large boulder onto the Tank. Drop down to where the Tank was and grab
the Quad Damage he left behind as a wonderful parting gift and press
the button on the drill, this makes a laser blow a hole in the wall.
Go through the hole in the wall and you'll see a Rocket Launcher on the
right, grab it and QUICKLY go back through the hole or you'll get
pushed by a huge drilling machine right into a wall and die. After it
passes by, follow the tunnel it went down and cross the bridge on the
right, be careful not to fall off 'cause the ground starts shaking
really bad and can throw you into the lava far below to a fiery grave.
Continue down the tunnel to a platform, ride it up and continue along
to a door, go through it to be back in the Drilling Area. Head
forwards, kill another Tank and step through the exit to complete your
main mission objective and enter the Factory.

--------------------
~ RECEIVING CENTER ~
--------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Shut down alien Processing Plant.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Find entrance to Processing Plant.

  Secret Areas: 2/4

Kill the Guards ahead of you and go into the corridor they were
in, to your left are some laser beams blocking the corridor, to your
right is a closed door. Go towards the lasers and look on the right
wall for a button, press it to mak a large grate open next to you
leading down into a pipe, drop into it to land in some water. Follow
the pipe and you'll enter a large room filled with lava, look down and
kill the Guard below, then drop down to where he was and press the
button on the wall to lower a bridge. Cross the bridge and then pull
the lever on the right to drain the lava. Drop into the now empty lava
pit and press a button on the wall to open up a pipe above you. Climb
the stairs out of the pit and go down the corridor on the right to a
platform, ride it up and jump into the pipe you just opened. Follow
the pipe and climb the ladder to have your first encounter with a
Brain, kill it and head into the corridor to find a button, press it
and go back to where you climbed out of the pipe and ride the middle
platform you see up to a Flak Jacket, drop into the room below. Head
up the stairs on the left and go through a door, cross the bridge and
hang a left to spot a button on the wall, press it and go through
through the door next to it to be at the other end of the corridor that
was behind the laser beams at the start of the level, they're now
disabled. Go right and you'll be on a bridge full of Stimpacks, you'll
spot a waterfall, jump into it to find a secret level called Sudden
Death (thanks Nemesis452 for sending me this secret). In here you'll
have 30 seconds to grab as many items in here as you can; there are a
lot of Stimpacks, Armor Shards, ammo, weapons, and even some Bandoliers
and Heavy Packs, there's even a Hyper Blaster in here, one of the best
weapons in the game. When the 30 seconds are up you'll be back on the
bridge, drop into the water below and head through the corridor down
here to find a secret area and the Rail Gun, wait until the Strogg get
a taste of this bad ass weapon. A walkway lowers so head up it and
test your new toy out on the Parasite charging you. Head straight to
the end of the corridor and go through to kill a Guard and two Gunners.
Strafe left and try to kill that Guard across the way before he runs
onto the bridge to explode it. It's hard to do and if you're playing
the PC version of this game like I am then quick save/load is a
wonderful thing right now. Cross the bridge and blow up the crates to
snag another Quad Damage, go left and waste a Gladiator, you'll see a
room on the left with lasers on the floor, head through the door on the
right to end this level for now.

~ PROCESSING PLANT ~
--------------------

   Main Mission Objective:
- Shut down alien Processing Plant.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Shut down all machines.

  Secret Areas: 0/3

Straight ahead is a winding staircase with Stimpacks on it, to
your left is a locked door, and to your right is a corridor blocked by
laser beams. Go up the winding staircase and collect all of the
Stimpacks, kill a copule of Gunners, grab the Flak Jacket and press the
button on the wall to disable the lasers blocking that one corridor.
Head through the now open corridor and a Tank will rise out of the
floor on a platform, waste it. To your right is an area with bloody
water (don't jump into it or you'll lose health), wait for a moving
platform to rise out of the water and hop on to take a ride up, jump
off at the top and you'll see a locked door ahead of you, press the two
buttons on the left and right to open the door and head on through. Go
down the incline and press the button on the console you see to shut
down the first machine, go through the door to the left of the console
to enter a large room. Waste all of the Strogg running around and go
down the stairs on the right by a locked door or ride the platform on
the left to get down into the room below. There's a large pillar type
thing in the middle of the room, shoot the cracked panes of glass on
the wall in front of the pillar to find another Flak Jacket, go into
the room on the left to be in the pillar and press the button on the
wall to disable the second piece of alien machinery.

Go back up the stairs and head through the now open door at the
top of them, follow the corridor and go through a door on the left,
kill the Parasite chasing you down and cross the bridge it was on and
go through the door. You'll see a fast moving conveyor belt in front
of you, use it to jump to the other side of the room and go right, use
the conveyor belt once again to jump to the button on the right. Press
the button to disble the third piece of machinery, step onto the
platform next to you and take a ride up. Go through the door in front
of you to enter a heavily infested room and start laying down the law.
When all the Strogg are dead you'll notice two locked doors and a
platform in the floor, go step onto the platform to take a ride up,
press the button on the wall up here to deactivate the fourth piece of
alien machinery. Go back down to the previously locked doors and head
through either one to some stairs, go down them and press the button on
the console to disable the fifth piece of machinery. Follow the
corridor next to the console to an elevator, step on and take a ride
up, then go down the corridor on the right and head through a door.
Kill the Guards in the room and press the button you see to deactivate
the sixth machine. Go back through the door and head straight to jump
across a room full of bloody water and head through the door, press the
button on the left to deactive the seventh and last piece of alien
machinery to complete both of your objectives. Go down the corridor by
the button and head through the door and ride down on the moving
platform, press the button on the wall to open the door next to it and
head on through to be back where you started the level, head through
the exit on the right and go back to the Receiving Area.

~ RECEIVING CENTER REVISITED ~
------------------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Completed.

  Secondary Objective:
- Find entrance to the Power Plant.

  Secret Areas: 2/4

To your right will be a room you should remember with the laser
beam floor. Platforms are now moving around the room so jump onto one
and use it to get to the corridor across the way. Head through the
corridor and then through a door on the left, go down the staircase and
follow the room around to the areas exit. Just before the exit look
for a yellow switch recessed inside of a pillar on the left wall, shoot
it and head back down the corridor and look for a secret area on the
right with a bunch of ammo and health. Head through the exit to enter
the Power Plant.

---------------
~ POWER PLANT ~
---------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Infiltrate and destroy Strogg main reactor.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Find reactor. Expose reactor core.

  Secret Areas: 1/2

You'll start the level off in a large open area outdoors and you
can hear a Tank Commander rolling around below. Stay on the ledge
above the arena and kill the commander from the elevated position.
After the commander falls, drop into the arena below and look for a Red
Key to snag. After you do look for a ladder you must climb down, do so
and follow the corridor to a platform, ride it up for some Body Armor
worth 75 armor. Head forwards to meet a couple of Iron Maidens, these
chics are brutal opponents and the Rail Gun from a distance works quite
well on them. Shoot some exploding barrels on the left to expose a
secret area, go through the hole in the wall and step onto a platform,
raise up and follow the corridor to find the BFG, the best weapon in
the game but each round requires 50 units to shoot so save this bad boy
for the tougher opponents like Tanks and Gladiators, or to take an
entire room of enemies out with one blast. Turn around and go back
into the room where you met the Iron Maidens, go through the red door
and down the corridor on the left to a door that requires the Red Key
to open. Head on through and clear the area of Strogg and be careful
of the pits spewing explosive debris, collect all of the health and
probably well needed ammo and go back to where you've found the BFG.
Climb out of the window on the left and try to jump onto the paltform
below with the closed door on it, if you don't make it you'll have to
make your way back up here to try again. Go through the door to enter
the next level.

---------------
~ THE REACTOR ~
---------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Infiltrate and destroy Strogg main reactor.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Find reactor. Expose reactor core.

  Secret Areas: 1/1

Kill the two Gunners in front of you and head down the corridor on
the left (to the right leads to a locked door that requires the Data CD
to open) and waste another Gladiator. After you kill it go through the
door behind it and follow the heavily infested corridor to some stairs,
go down them and clear the area of cyborgs to open up a gate leading to
the Data CD, go grab it. After you snag the cd more enemies appear, go
up to where the Iron Maiden is to find some more Body Armor worth 100
armor, whoo-hoo. Go down the corridor directly across from the cd and
head through another door, kill the Gladiator and head through the door
on the right. As soon as the door opens shoot the wall to expose a
secret area, climb up the ladder for a couple of Armor Shards and
Adrenaline. The corridor below takes you to a door blocked by a force
field that you can't disble yet. Go back down the ladder and back
through the door, straight ahead takes you to the Toxic Waste Dump that
you can't access yet so go back to the door that requires the Data CD
to open and go on through. Kill a couple of Gladiators and one will
leave behind a Quad Damage, continue along through a laser booby
trapped corridor and waste all the Gunners at the end. Head right and
ride the platform up, continue along and go through the corridor on the
left and keep going to an elevator, hop on and take a ride down. Head
through the corridor down here and go through the door to be at the
reactor core. Pull the lever on the left to expose the core and your
secondary objective will get updated. Climb down the ladder by the
lever and down here are two corridors on either side of you and a
platform leading up to the door leading to the Big Gun area which you
can't open yet. Go down the corridor on the left (the right one takes
you back to the force field that was previously blocking the door, it's
now disabled), and head through the door with exit sign.

--------------------
~ COOLING FACILITY ~
--------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Infiltrate and destroy Strogg main reactor.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Activate cooling pump and lower coolant around reactor.

  Secret Areas: 1/3

Head forwards and drop into the pipe, follow it outside and
destroy a bunch of foe, a blast from the BFG would be great right about
now. Try not to blow up the barrels on the left, use them to get onto
the the crate with the Chain Gun, press the button up here on the wall
to open to the floor beneath you, don't drop down there. Go up the
stairs across from where you started the level and follow the corridor
to some more stairs, head up them and clear the area. Go and drop into
the hole you just opened up a minute ago to be in a sewer. Try not to
go into the water because the current is really strong and if you want
some Adrenaline then don't go into the water yet. Walk along the outer
edge to the left to enter a circular room with a bunch of Stimpacks and
Armor Shards. Walk along the left edge of the waterway and round a
corner, slowly walk down the incline and climb down the ladder on the
left for a secret area with Adrenaline in it. Climb back up the ladder
and go down the incline to a room full of ammo and enemies. Continue
down the waterway to end up in a large pool with some platforms moving
up and down to the right and straight ahead. Go up either one and
waste a couple of Berserkers, go through the door up here and then
through another one to be in a large room with a big pipe ahead of you.
Go turn the valve on the pipe to complete half your secondary
objective, go climb onto the crates and jump onto the now moving
platform in the pipe and take a ride up. Jump to the button across
from you to complete your secondary objective, you will be given a new
objective of returning back to the Reactor.

Next to the button are some crates, climb onto them and then jump
onto the piston moving up and down, jump onto the next one and follow
the corridor up here to a platform, hop on and take a ride up. Follow
the waterway ahead of you to a place you were at near the start of the
level. Head forwards and drop through the hole in the floor that
wasn't there before, head through the door to be back at the Reactor.
Head forwards and drop through a hole and your secondary objective will
get updated and we need to go to the Toxic Waste Dump. Go through the
corridor on the right and follow it all the way past the reactor core
and keep going straight to enter a large outdoor area. There's a BFG
on the right, go into the pipe on the left and follow it all the way to
a hole, drop into it to enter the Toxic Waste Dump.

--------------------
~ TOXIC WASTE DUMP ~
--------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Infiltrate and destroy Strogg main reactor.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Activate pumping stations one and two.

  Secret Areas: 1/2

Head forwards and you'll see a Hyper Blaster on the right, jump
across the acid if you're in need of the ammo. Continue along and kill
a few Guards and emerge into an outdoor area with an acid lake, don't
step into it. Step onto the platform on the rught and take a ride up,
follow the walkway and head through the door on the right, waste the
Iron Maidens and search the room for a bunch of Stimpacks. Climb the
flight of stairs in this room and take out all of the enemies along the
corridor, including another Tank. Hop onto the platform the Tank was
guarding and take a ride up, step off of the platform and turn around.
You'll see a Ammo Pack on a ledge to your left. Go to the right and
jump to the pipes going across the room, now jump up to the Ammo Pack,
this will refill most of your ammunition for all of your weapons. Go
down the corridor at the top of the moving platform and head through a
door, you'll see a bridge, there is a waterway beneath it flowing with
acid, if you have an Enviornment suit then drop down to the waterway
and follow it into a secret area with another Enviornment Suit. Go
back up the acid waterway (you have to continuously jump into it due to
the strong current) and drop down below and make your way back up to
the bridge. Go through the corridor on the other side of the bridge
and make a left, waste all of the enemies and take notice of all the
branching corridors leading off of the one you're in. The first
corridor leading right leads to a locked door you can't open yet. Go
down the first corridor on the left and blow up some barrels on the
left to blow a hole in the wall leading to a button, go press it to be
able to access pumping station one. Head forwards and drop into the
hole to enter Pumping Station one.

_______________________________________________________________________

-----------------------
~ PUMPING STATION ONE ~
-----------------------

   Main Mission Objective:
- Infiltrate and destroy Strogg main reactor.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Activate pumping station one.

  Secret Areas: 1/3

Go down either corridor and clear the room of Strogg, go up the
stairs on the right to kill some more and step onto the platform to
take a ride up. You've probably noticed that the game is increasingly
getting more difficult and will continue to do so. Go up the incline on
the left and shoot out the wall just above the crates to the right to
find a secret area, go in there and jump through the hole to land in
some water. Follow the pipe to an elevator, step on and take a ride
up, grab the Adrenaline on the ledge and drop into the pipe directly
below it. Swim through the pipe and you'll emerge outside, climb out
of the water via the rocks and head through the door next to the BFG.
Follow the darkened corridor and head through another door, head right
for some Stimpacks and a Combat Suit. Drop into the room below to be
back where you blew a hole in the wall, go down the passage to the
right of the hole and you'll see the exit leading to Pumping Station
two. Pull the lever on the right wall to active pump number one, head
through the door to enter the second Pumping Station.

_______________________________________________________________________

-----------------------
~ PUMPING STATION TWO ~
-----------------------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Infiltrate and destroy Strogg main reactor.

  Secondary Mission Objective:
- Activate pumping station two.

  Secret Areas: 1/4

Follow the corridor and go up the incline, continue along and
there will be a locked door on the left that requires a Blue Key to
open. Head through the corridor on the right and go through a door and
waste two Tanks, pull the lever on the left to activate the second pump
and your secondary objective will get updated and the orders are to go
back to the reactor. Drop into the hole in the floor and you'll be in
a tunnel. Up the incline is an elevator, don't step onto it yet. Go
down the tunnel the other way and continue along to a square room with
a bunch of pipes everywhere. In here is a ladder and a corridore,
ignore the ladder for now and head through the corridor to a BFG, to
the right of it is some acid. Equip your Enviornment Suit and quickly
run through the acid for a secret area with Adrenaline, now go back and
climb up the ladder you just ignored to find a Mega Health, make your
way back to the elevator at the top of the incline and take a ride up.
Snag the Blue Key and drop into the room below where you activated the
pump, head to the door that requires the key to open and head on
through.

Follow the corridor and you'll come up to an acid pit, go through
the pipe on the left to find an Enviornment Suit, you can go into the
acid down here and look for a pipe to go into with some Body Armore in
it. Go and jump across the acid pit and go through the door on the
right to exit the Pumping Station. Kill the Tank on the right and
proceed up the incline on the right, press the button on the left to
extend a walkway to the right. Go across the walkway and follow the
corridor to a place that should look familiar 'cause you were in here a
couple of levels ago. When you come to a split, go right and snag
another Enviornment Suit. Go left and all the way to the end of the
corridor, head left to exit the Toxic Waste Dump. Step onto the button
in front of you to extend a bridge, go across it and head down the
steps on the right, follow the corridor on the left to some acid. Walk
the thin line on the right all the way through to the door at the other
end of the corridor, continue along when you get to the Reactor go up
the platform on the right and head through the door to enter the Big
Gun area.

-----------
~ BIG GUN ~
-----------

  Main Mission Objective:
- Destroy the Big Gun.

  Secondary Objective:
- Eliminate all resistance.

  Secret Areas: 0/0

Head towards the door in front of you and grab that Combat Suit on
the crates to the left, head through the door to see a large diamond
shaped object shooting a red laser beam into the sky. There's a locked
door across from you with a red light in it and a locked door to the
left of you. Approach the door on the left to spot a platform just to
the left of it, hop on and take a ride up to make another boss appear.
This thing looks like a giant robotic fly and is incredibly tough, use
your BFG and Rocket Launcher to take it down. After it dies your
secondary objective will get updated and now we must lock the laser in
place. Head through the now open door with the red light in it. Go to
the right and head down the stairs and you'll see a laser beam to your
left. Go through the doorway on the right to a platform, ride it up
and continue along wasting Guards everywhere. When you enter a room
with a button on the left DON'T PRESS IT YET! Continue along and kill
the rest of the enemies to eventually wind up on the other side of the
laser beam you saw a minute ago, now go back to the button you didn't
press. When you press the button you will lock the laser beam you saw
near the beginning of the level, you'll then have about fifteen seconds
to high tail it out of this area or you will die. Face the button and
after you press it run down the corridor to the left of it, head
straight and slightly left to drop down, head right and then go up the
incline on the left, go right again and through the door on the left,
then run through the door on the right and high tail it through the
corridor and enter the ship on the right to destroy the Big Gun and
advance to the next area.

Use the computer console in here to close the bay doors, go search by
the doors for a Combat Suit, Bandolier and ammo. Head back to the
corridor you just passed and head down it to enter a large area with a
hole in the floor, another gigantic robot fly will appear so waste the
thing. After you kill it look up and you'll notice the communication
dish above you, jump up into the four switches on the ceiling to lower
the dish and it will be destroyed and your objectives for this secret
area are complete. Go back into the room where you closed the second
bay door and ride the elevator to resume your previous mission.

Shield atop the crates a little further left. Head down the stairs on
the right and clear the area of Strogg, this will make a vault like
door open in the back of the room so head through it and then another
one. Drop through the hole in the floor and the fan below will push
you up into an area high above. Use the computer console up here to
turn of the Turbine. Grab the Combat Suit below you and head through
the door to be back in the room you started the level in. Drop down
and head through the door to be back at the spinning blade which is no
longer spinning so drop into the hole in the floor to land on the

land on the beam directly below. Drop onto the ledge around the
Turbine and grab the Armor Shards and ammo, drop into the water below
and wait for the slow moving Turbine to revel a room, head in there and
kill the Berserker and Gunners. You'll spot three round storage
crates, blow up one of them for a secret area with some Quad Damage.
Head through the corridor next to the Quad Damage and you'll come
across a large watery area with three large square platforms moving
about the water.

Jump onto the first one and then use it to jump to the second one
and ride it to a button you must press, jump to the third platform and
ride it to a ledge with some ammo and a Rebreather on it, also press
the button on the wall up here to lower a few platforms above the
water. Use the moving platforms to jump up to the platform hanging in
the middle of the room and it will lift you up to a corridor above.
Follow the line of Stimpacks and drop into a hole, you'll see a moving
gear ahead of you, go stand on it and then jump to the one spinning
below you. Ride around and look for a Power Shield to snag on a little
ledge, ride the gear around to the corridor and follow it and head left
or right when you get the chance to emerge into a room. There's a
doorway leading out into a large water filled area, kill another giant
fly and drop down to the button below, go stand on it to extend a
bridge across the water. Jump into the water and look for a secret
area below the switch you just stood on for a secret area with
Adrenaline in it. Go into the little room under the bridge to find
another Combat Suit, look for a button in here to press, do so to raise
a ladder behind you and obviously climb it. Head across the bridge you

Makron will be to your left, start shooting it with your heaviest
artillery and watch out for all the rounds it lobs your way, it's armed
with everything you have in your arsenal, including the BFG, and if
you're playing the game on hard this Makron will be one brutal and
tough opponent to drop and I wish you luck. After you shoot the Makron
so many times it'll fall out of the giant robot its in, wow this thing
got way smaller. Just continue blasting away at the Makron until it
keels over and explodes in half. Now head back to the escape pods you

Congrats on your victory Marine, I hope you have enjoyed my guide and I
was of some assistance to you.

>>> CREDITS:

    - Activision
    - ID Software
    - Nemesis452 for sending the secret level Sudden Death in the
      Receiving Center

>>> E-MAIL RULES:
    [email protected]

   - DO NOT SOLICITE! I don't care what your crappy little product is
all about or how cheap you're selling it, I don't want it!

   - NO CHAIN LETTERS: I will not send them on and if I go bankrupt,
get a horrible disesase, an anvil drops on my head, I die, blah, blah,
blah, because I don't send the letter on, oh well. I'm not a
superstitious fool.

   - NO FAN CLUB CRAP! I don't care what your geeky little club is all
about, I will not join.

   - NO MONEY MAKING SCHEMES! That means you EXCEL (not Microsoft
affiliated for all you who don't know about this scam artist company
Excel) and all of you other bullshit scam artists out there.

   - NO JUNK MAIL! If you write a crappy newsletter, send me political
jargon asking me for money instead of my vote, ask me to join some
pathetic singles website with nothing but supposively extremely hot
single chics in my neighborhood who want to hook up and get all
freaky, news about how Paris maxed out her dramatically life changing
23 day county jail sentence, celebrity bullshit about who's fucking
who (and who cares anyways?), or just feel like sending out trash to
me DO NOT FEEL FREE TO DO SO! If you do then I'll send you a virus.
How does that appeal to your server?

   - If I don't know or trust you I will not open up any attachements
so don't bother to send me any. Even though I state this it's amazing
all the idiots out there that still send me attachements.

   - I don't care what kind of language you use just don't swear
directly at me. If you do well then "Fuck you too" in advance because
you won't be hearing from me.

   - If the answer is in the walkthrough you will most likely not get
a response from me, maybe a smart ass comment depending on the mood
I'm in at the time. I have better things to do than to answer
questions that have clearly been answered. Go back to the third grade
and take up some Reading Comprehension classes, I think it's time to
renew your subscription to Highlights magazine. Hooked on Phonics
worked for me, maybe it'll work for you too.

   - And as long as we're talking about e-mail I'll most likely
ignore, please write ledgible e-mail's without all these modern day
acronyms all you tennie boppers, and adults who still think they are,
IM and text eachother with, I'm old school and aren't hip to all their
meanings and don't ever plan on being.

   - And another thing: I KNOW THERE ARE TYPOS in this guide. I typed
it in word pad and if you knew anything at all, then you should know
word pad doesn't have spell check, plus I'm only human and thus not
perfect. When you type in a million plus characters you're bound to
make a bunch of typos. It's amazing all these anal retentive asshole
yuppies out there who e-mail me and make a big deal because I didn't
use proper grammer or spelled a word wrong. Get a life you pathetic
morons and get back to eating your Tofu! Maybe someday I'll notice the
typos and fix them, then again maybe I won't just to piss you off!

   - NO PORN! Some low life porn companies must have gotten my e-mail
address from my posted guides because I literally receive HUNDREDS of
porn offers a week and I'm getting really sick of it. If you mother
fuckers keep on sending me this shit then I will hack into your server
and drop the worst virus known to computers into it so don't fuck with
me. Your anti-virus software doesn't have jack shit on me for this
virus will whipe out your entire operation and I know damn well you
deviants don't want that to happen. If you happen to get up and
running after my mega virus I'll just drop in another modified one.
This process will be repeated until you're reduced to sucking dick in
an alley on the side of a bar just to make ends meet. I'm almost to
the point of filing a lawsuit against you scumbags for harassment so
stop sending me this shit. I don't mean to sound so ignorant here but
if it was happening to you I'm sure you'd be just as aggrevated over
this matter as I am. This is the only language these kind of pukes
understand. And no, I'm not one of those anti-porn yuppies. Everyone
has their breaking point and these assholes lobbed a brick right
through my plate glass window.
