It converted me into a pc gamer for life!!! The first thing I did after finishing Max Payne 1 was to check if it had a sequel or not. Praying to the Gods of gaming, I clicked into the Max Payne website and with a sigh of relief, I found out that the sequel to the most stylish and coolest game ever made was already out. Not knowing that it was going to push Max Payne hard for the No.1 spot in favorite games list, I went ahead and purchased it. The protagonist of this game, Max Payne, has been freed from police custody for whatever he did in the previous installment of the game, with the help of one of the characters he had made a deal with. Now, the entire world perceives him as some kind of a hero who helped the city in its fight against the unlawful citizens of the city. This game has been promoted as a film noir love story and it tries really hard to be one. The story of Max Payne, like the previous one, has been told through a number of cut-scenes and graphic novels (ala Sin City). The writer, though loses the humor, still manages to create an intense and dark atmosphere of the first one, which, in turn, keeps the players at the edge of their seat through out the length of the game. But, there is a difference in the way graphic novels and cut-scenes have been implemented this time around. In the previous game, you were able to click on various items (including TV news, radio, telephones, etc.) through out the level, which triggered graphic novels. In this sequel, however, you can't click on anything during a level to trigger a graphic novel. Graphic novels are strictly there to begin and end the levels. Everything else during a level has been told in live action or cut-scenes. What can we say about the game-play of max Payne??? It still remains the biggest highlight of this franchise. Like the previous installment, it once again has been incredibly well done and extremely enjoyable to play. With the return of the franchise returns the Bullet time and shoot dodge. These unique features make the game really stylish and fun to play. But, there have been some major changes to its key features like Bullet time, placement of painkillers, and the like. Previously, bullet time was more useful when used with shoot dodge. Now, bullet time has been modified to complement standing and gunning people. It doesn't pay to shoot dodge since it takes a long time to get back up which always proves calamitous. Now, you can take on 5 or even more people at the same time with the help of Bullet time and standing up. If you try to shoot dodge while taking on so many people, you will always lose the battle. The screen goes yellow when you use bullet time in this game. The longer you use it, the more powerful you will become, since you will pick up speed with each passing second while your enemies will progressively become slower. Another new cool effect of Bullet time is the reloading style while in Bullet time. If your gun runs out of ammo while you are still in bullet time, then Max will bend halfway downwards and does a 360 degree spin. By the time you face the enemy again, your gun is reloaded. This feature, however, may become tiresome after a while. Another new addition to the game play is the ability to play as another character in a few levels. You will get to play a couple of levels through Mona Sax's perspective, which blends perfectly with the storyline. Even when you play as Max, Mona will be there in a few levels to help you as a NPC. This helps the storyline too, by showcasing there relationship. There are other characters too who help you to kill enemies without you actually controlling them. Then, there is this thing about the HAVOK ENGINE!!! The enemies will no longer fall in only three or four ways like in the previous game. The rag- doll effects in this game are amazingly life-like. The bodies of the enemies will fall in real fashion depending on where the bullets hit them. The movement of their arms and legs and other body parts will crash into things like they would in real life. They will get entangled into things and or hang from ceilings with their arms still flapping. It all looks wonderful in a combat. You can even play with bodies by shooting it and blowing it up in the air. The game objects too are affected by these effects. If you crash into fans, crates, etc., then be sure that they will move and fall. It is a journey that will blow you away with its style and classiness. It seems as if one of the underworld don, Vinnie Gognitti, has made a deal with some one high above. A hit has been put on Max Payne's name along with a few more people. They will again come after you once they spot you. Occasionally, they will camp in stead of following you. This does make for great combat set pieces though. But, it looks dumb when they hurl a misdirected grenade at you and then walk into it. Graphics: 10/10 Quite easily, one of the most beautiful looking games out there in the market!!! The level textures and models all look really detailed and realistic too. The level designing is perhaps the best you will get to see over a long period of time. The buildings, explosions that send the bodies and walls flying, the burning effects of the building, blowing up of places, all pack a punch. It all looks so real and awesome that you spend a lot of time just looking at them. The explosions and flames all do well to lend themselves to creating a great and intense atmosphere in the game. There is a wide variety of levels which all showcase the hard work and the dedication of the developers. No expanse has been spared. Right from the Police HQ, big Manors, decaying buildings and neighborhood, to the garage and a funhouse, etc. all look so detailed, that it's a crime not to stop and behold the beauty for a few moments!!! Weapons, character models, weapon reloading, environment, etc. all look fluent and realistic. The Molotov and grenades, explosive canisters, smoke, thunder & lightning, create an intense atmosphere suited to the franchise. Carnage by bullets and explosions are permanent which can make any place look like a war zone in no time. The new Bullet time also add to the beauty!!! When in bullet time, the screen turns into a beautiful golden colour, a sight to behold!!! The re-modeled characters and their clothes are all good too. They are all extremely detailed. Max now looks more real, and he looks like a man who has been through a lot in life. But, in lieu of creating a more believable Max Payne, the developers have lost the ever-so-famous grin of the earlier Max Payne, which is a pity really. The scars and cuts of the character remains with Max right till the end, which shows off the amount of hard work that's been put in. The issue of death-animation restriction of the first one has been resolved here. The rag-dolls look great and more importantly, are convincing!!! But, another issue of lip-syncing for the characters still hasn't been answered in this one. They still look odd during cut-scenes. Sound: 10/10 The main theme of the first one has been retained, but it's been created using a different instrument which suits the film noir style more. It gives a feeling of the events as they unfold. It also does well to conjure up an image of the tragic protagonist, and creates a wonderful atmosphere. The combat music of the first one was better though. This game also has a very good end credits song 'Late Goodbye' by the 'Poets of the Fall', which easily surpasses any song ever heard in any game. Like with the previous installment, the voice-acting is top-notch once again. The voice-over actors of the first one have been retained for the sequel as well. And they have done a great job of it too. The guns, Molotovs, and grenades all sound realistic. The enemies yell a more variety of curses at you during fire-fights than in the first one, which add to the atmosphere. The breaking of walls, blowing up of buildings, screeches of cars, sounds of thunder & lightning, etc. all combine their forces to create an unbelievable aura of realism. Controls: 10/10 Even if you haven't played the first one, it won't be a problem to get into this game. This game is incredibly easy to control and operate. The features are very well implemented and the players find it very easy to learn the moves. You can also change the control set up for the game to any keys you want to. Play time This game can take you anything between 7-9 hours to complete in your first play through. However, this game has various difficulty modes to beat. Replayability: 8.5/10 Like its predecessor, its game-play too is also very strong so that you can play it multiple times without getting bored. Once you beat the game for the first time, you can try to beat the game in higher difficulty modes, which are unlocked one-by-one as you beat the previous difficulty modes. The game has three difficulty modes which make the game progressively harder to beat. In addition to these three difficulty modes, it also has a timed mode to contain with. In addition, there is also a new game play mode called 'DEAD MAN WALKING'. In it, you will have to kill re-spawning enemies who keep on increasing with time. Basically, you will have to survive for as long as you can. There are a total of six maps plus two more official maps waiting to be downloaded. Plus, there are hundreds of DMW maps made by fans of the series, which you can download. Modifications The game has quite a few good mods for you to play. And the mod community for the Max Payne games has gained momentum off-late. So you can get a few hours game-play out of them. Overall: 10/10 Recommendation This game is a worthy successor of a great game. A must-buy if you don't mind the short length of the game. It has the fastest rate of fire among the three shotguns. Drawbacks: Can hold only two shells, not efficient at long ranges. Clip size: 2. Total ammo: 140. It will take sometime to get used to it as its reticule moves a bit while sniping. But, it is still very accurate. It has a very good rate of fire too. Drawbacks: Takes a bit of time to get used to. It looks good but doesn't feel as good as Kalashnikov. It, too, has a good rate of fire, more accurate than Kalashnikov and good for killing a bunch of enemies at one go. Drawbacks: None. It's not as accurate as the Sniper Rifle but has a nice rate of fire. Only Mona Sax gets to use this weapon. Drawbacks: A liability at short ranges, not as accurate. Clip size: 10. Total ammo: 100. Now get moving player. ============================================================================= ============================================================================= ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5) Hints & Tips (500) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================= 1) Always collect weapons after killing an enemy. 2) Always explore all cabinets, rooms, crates, top of crates, out-of-way places for goodies. 3) Use painkillers and bullet time extensively. Bullet time automatically fills-up when you're not using it. 4) If you have used up your entire Bullet time, then wait for it to refill itself before progressing forward. 5) Unlike the previous game, shootdodges are not very useful. Now, bullet time has been modified to complement standing and gunning people. It doesn't pay to shoot dodge since it takes a long time to get back up which always proves calamitous. Now, you can take on 5 or even more people at the same time with the help of Bullet time and standing up. If you try to shoot dodge while taking on so many people, you will always lose the battle. 6) Rolling sideways/backwards/forward isn't really useful, since you can't shoot while doing it. Try not to perform them. They are not worth it. 7) Quick saves are a must in your first play through. Always quick save after a tough fire-fight or before venturing into the unknown (new rooms). 8) Always peek into the room before entering it, using the left or right side of the doorways. It's always useful to know rather than to speculate the danger awaiting you. 9) If there are too many enemies, then wait and watch their movements and think out a suitable strategy. 10) If an enemy is holding his position, and you're not in a condition to attack, then use cover, show yourself and hide to make him fire at you. And make your move when your enemy is busy reloading. 11) If an enemy is coming towards you, let him come and take cover, attacking when he is near. 12) If you get your enemy in a state of suppression fire (i.e., shot him and he is not in a position to shoot back while taking damage) keep firing with a rapid firing weapon till the enemy's down and out. 13) If you are using a wall or a door as a cover and enemies are charging at you then follow the following mantra to stay fit: Step out-shoot once or twice-back to hiding-repeat till all of them are dead. 14) Once an enemy spots, he will come after you. Be ready for some action. 15) If you are in a hole, then you can always entice enemies into following you. Take cover and let them have it once they come after you. 16) Always try to aim for the head. 17) Keep check of your ammo and bullet time. 18) Make sure to turn off Bullet time as soon as your enemies are dead. Don't wait for them to fall to the ground. Waste too much Bullet time. 19) Make a habit of reloading after every fire-fight. It can save your life. 20) Use the environment to your advantage. Dive behind sofas, chairs, take cover behind walls, doors, pillars, etc. during fire-fights. 21) You need not shoot al the enemies that you see. These unique features make the game really stylish and fun to play. But, there have been some major changes to its key features like Bullet time, and the like. Previously, bullet time was more useful when used with shoot dodge. Now, bullet time has been modified to complement standing and gunning people. It doesn't pay to shoot dodge since it takes a long time to get back up which always proves calamitous. Now, you can take on 5 or even more people at the same time with the help of Bullet time and standing up. If you try to shoot dodge while taking on so many people, you will always lose the battle. The screen goes yellow when you use bullet time in this game. The longer you use it, the more powerful you will become, since you will pick up speed with each passing second while your enemies will progressively become slower. Another new cool effect of Bullet time is the reloading style while in Bullet time. If your gun runs out of ammo while you are still in bullet time, then Max will bends halfway downwards and does a 360 degree spin. By the time you face the enemy again, your gun is reloaded. This feature, however, may become tiresome after a while. The bullet time will help you through thick-and-thin situations right through the game. The whole idea behind this concept is to make the gameplay more stylish and fun to play. The bullet time will fill up all by itself while you are not using it or you can regain bullet time by killing more and more enemies. You can activate bullet time in three ways: 1) While moving and pressing bullet time/shootdodge combo, you will perform a shootdodge in slow motion. Bullet time will end when you stand up again. 2) While standing still and pressing bullet time/shootdodge combo, you and the world will go into bullet time. You can stop it by pressing the same button again or performing a shootdodge. 3) Or you can do it by pressing the bullet time only button and stop it by pressing the same. Another wonderful addition to bullet time is shootdodges, which you can use either with bullet time or separately. Shoot him and take the other door. Dual 9mm Pistol!!! A cut-scene. Take the door on the left of this room, turn right, and right yet again. Watch the TV if you feel like it and take the lift. Check the black van ahead for goodies. Go to right side of the white car and through the fence door into a small alleyway. At the very end of the passage, turn left, climb the stairs and through the door leading into the building. Turn left and then right. Keep on going ahead. A cut-scene. Watch the TV or smash it and exit. Turn left from the small cabin (TV) go forward and u-turn around the shelves and crates. Don't go near the collapsible gate. Climb the crate near the wall and use the crates to climb onto the top of the shelves behind you for some Ingram ammo. Now, go back to the crate near the wall, and onto the second one. Jump onto the crate on the opposite side. Now, use the crates to climb onto the shelves to find an Ingram and a painkiller. Back to the collapsible gate and through it. A cut-scene. Kill the cleaner now or wait for him to open the door ahead, if you want to watch a cut-scene. Another will come for you, kill him too and enter the next room. Go to the small crane-car and press the control to lift the plank. Use the plank to climb on top of the crates for goodies. You found some grenades!!! Head to the other door of the room and press the panel to open it. Exit and check the closet for painkiller. Enter the next room and kill the two cleaners on the left. Collect the ammo and through the next door. Exit the new room via door on the left, and up the stairs. Shoot the explosive canister next to the cleaner on the top. Go to the top, shoot the cleaner on the right, and enter the new room. Go through the next door, check the two cabinets, pick up the phone and exit the room. Check the last locker on the left for goodies and enter the room on the right. Check all the drawers, cabinets and lockers for goodies. Head to the other side of the room and go near the door on the right. A cut-scene. Kill the two cleaners and check the room for goodies. Now, you have Dual Ingrams and Sawed-off Shotgun too!!! Two cleaners have appeared on the room outside. Kill them and exit the room. Turn right and enter the next room. Three thugs will enter from the next door. Kill them using Sawed-off Shotgun and bullet time to kill them all. Check all the lockers and exit via the second door. Go to the end of the passage. A cut-scene. Someone has just risen from the dead!!! Press the lift button, and check the door on the right side if you want to kill two more cleaners on floor below the ramp. Take the lift to the bottom floor and head right. Into the next room, kill the thug there, and through the door on the right. Kill the cleaner on the crane-car, go in to bullet time, turn right, and kill the three cleaners there. Into the next room on the right, quickly take cover behind the pillar on the left, the shelves will fall on top of you killing you if you don't move quickly to your left, and then kill the cleaner on the other side. Exit through the door on the far left corner. A cut-scene. New York City. Last Night. Vladimir's Restaurant 'Vodka' ('Ragnarock' a Nightclub). "I felt elation, but with it, fear that all the past evils had come along for the ride." A cut-scene. You enter the building from the backdoor. Check the corridor on the right side for a couple of painkillers and climb the stairs. Hide behind the crates and watch. Three thugs will notice and come for you. Use Ingrams or Shotgun to take them down along with bullet time. Collect their ammo and climb the stairs. You will meet another thug on the stairs, kill him and come back down. Go to the room on the right side. Check the second cabinet on the right for a couple of painkillers. Pick up the phone, and then check the mike on the left side. Exit and go to the next floor. A cut-scene. A new character, he will help you in your quest to kill the bad guys. I, on a personal level, kill that guy and take his Kalashnikov, since the game is already so easy!!! Anyways, you stick with him if you want to. Go to the next floor and watch the TV if you fell like it. Take the corridor on the left and peek inside the room on the left. There are three guys there and lots of goodies for you to collect. Kill them all and take them all. Don't forget to check the cabinet. Take the corridor at the end of the room behind the shelves. There is a door to the left at the end of the walkway, which closes when the thugs there see you. Go to the top of the stairs and kill the lone thug there. Save. Enter the door on the right and kill the thug closest to you. Another one is on the raised platform to your left. Kill him and go towards the stairs on the far end. Two thugs will be coming that way. Kill them and go down, turn left and into the small corridor. Kill the only thug there and collect the painkillers near the next door at the end. Exit and kill the thug on the left (sometimes this thug comes into the previous room after you). Kill the thug on the right, going down the stairs. Take the stairs and go right down to the ground floor. Kill the only thug there. Turn back and two more thugs will come from the door on the first landing. Kill them and enter that door. Again enter the next door on the left and peek into the room using the door as cover. Three thugs are camping there. Bullet time and shotgun to kill them!!! Check the cabinet at the back for goodies and go through the door on the right, in the middle. A thug will be on the left. Kill him, check the table at the back and go hide behind the pillar near the stairs on the other side. Three thugs are waiting for you on the bottom floor. You can kill them from here using Ingram or Kalashnikov. Or go down and kill them with shotgun or any other weapon. Go to the door at the far end. Save. Enter and quickly kill the thug you see straight ahead. Turn left and kill the thug you see backing away. Hide behind the pillar on the left side near the counter. Eight more thugs will come from the above floor to kill you in a group of two at a time. They will move from the right side to the far end of the floor above and drop down on the crates on the other side. Back and through the two main door!!! Turn left to see Mona exiting through the door. Go to that door to find it stuck. Go to the left corridor (right from the locked door). Keep going to find a cleaner being killed by an old woman. Talk to her by pressing the 'use' key. She will offer a shotgun, accept by talking again. Back out and check the open window on the right side of the apartment (old woman). You need to use the parapet on the outside to move on. Save. Jump out onto the first parapet, then to the second one diagonally. A van with cleaners appears below. Throw a timed grenade near the back door when it opens. Or jump to the third parapet and enter the window on the right. Now, equip Desert Eagle and marvel at its power and accuracy. One shot to the head of the cleaners below is enough to send them to hell!!! Anyways, enter the door on the left. A snoring old batty man on the couch!!! Shoot the TV to wake him up and hear what he has to say. Go through the next window on the right, and enter the window on the right. Hide behind the boxes and save. Two cleaners walking across!!! Kill them and a third will come from the left corridor. Kill him with your favorite weapon and a cool death sequence will occur. Quick load and try it out with grenades, Molotov or any other weapon you like. Totally cool!!! Take the left corridor and walk to the old deaf woman at the end. She will offer you some painkillers. Accept it and collect it from the bathroom that she unlocks. Go to her drawing room and through the door on the right. You come across another window. Save and exit. Out onto the ledge, turn left, and climb the scaffolding to reach the top. Enter the window on the top. A cut-scene. Use the camera to see something funny. Pick up the new weapon on the ground. Press the 'use' key to zoom in with the sniper rifle. Go to the phone-tapping instrument on the table and hear something funny. Take the door, and then enter the bathroom on the left. Check the shelf for a painkiller. Exit and go near the second door on the left. You will hear two cleaners coming your way. You can wait for them to come to you or you can go out to finish the job instantly. Go to the end of the corridor on the right, and you will see a woman locking herself in her house near the staircase beyond the doorway. Go near that doorway and hide behind the left of it. A cleaner may or may not throw a grenade. After he does, go into bullet time and move in. There are five cleaners on the staircase leading to the above floors. Use Kalashnikov, Dual Ingrams or Pump-action Shotgun to kill them all. Try to aim for their head for one-shot kill. After killing them, go to the seventh floor. You're on the 4th floor right now. A locked door up ahead, you need to find the door code. Take the elevator on the left. Hide to the left of the left when it opens. Three cleaners will come for you. Send them to hell and exit the lift. You can take the stairs to the third floor to find a couple of ammo clips. Talk to the bum and he will tell you about Ed, the janitor. Go to the end of the middle corridor and enter the door on the right. Go down the stairs, and turn left, proceed to find Ed. A cut-scene. Go back up and peek around the door to find two cleaners patrolling the corridor. Kill them and take the lift back to the 7th floor. Exit the lift, and press the panel to unlock the door. Go through the door and take cover behind the wall. Three more cleaners coming from the room at the end!!! Use bullet time and Dual Ingrams/Shotgun to kill them, and enter the room they were coming from. Check the closet for a painkiller. Enter the bathroom on the left to find some more painkillers. Go to the room ahead and check the closet for goodies and come back. Save. And enter the door on the right. A cleaner is patrolling here. Kill him with your favorite weapon for a great death sequence. Quick load and try it out with other weapons if you feel like it. Enter the next room on the left, check the cupboards and go near the window. Save. Time to go out again!!! Exit the window and out on the ledge. Go left, right, right, turn left, and watch out for the gap in this ledge, jump over it, and jump onto the next ledge after the pipe. Turn right, go to the end, equip sniper rifle, save, and drop down to the ledge below. A cleaner starts to shoot at you from a window behind you. Turn around and snipe him. You see the gap in the ledge and a pistol beyond it. Collect the pistol and drop down the gap to the ledge below. Head to the right, and enter the window there. Collect the painkiller on the shelf, and go to the room on the left. Turn to your right to see a broken down (burned) doorway. Breaks my heart." This is simply a continuation of the previous level. Go down the corridor and through the door you see at the end. Three cleaners are there, one in front of you, one on the above stairs and the last one on the stairs leading to the below floors. Watch out for the grenades they throw. Use Kalashnikov to kill them all and go to the top floors. Check the top of the three assorted boxes to find Kalashnikov ammo and other goodies. Go back to the original floor. Now, go down to the stairs until you come across a door jammed by a stick. This is the 3rd floor. Open the door to find a bum. You can wait to hear his sorry story or continue down the corridor to find a doorway to a room on the left blocked by fire. Back to the staircase, and go down to the bottom-most floor. Go through the double-door that you see to find a girl named Violet. Now, you have two comrades with you to take care of the cleaners. I had rather you killed them since the game is already so easy. Anyways, back through the double-door and go to the end of this corridor. Half-way down, three cleaners will come out from the room at the far end. Kill them and enter the door they came from on the left. Go down the stairs, right and again right, enter the utility room and turn off the valve to stop the fire. Check the lockers for painkillers and exit the room and check another locker on the right. Go up the stairs, and into the corridor to find three more cleaners. Bullet time and Kalashnikov to kill them all!!! Go back to the 3rd floor, and into the room blocked by the fire a while back. Check the bathroom on the right to find a couple of painkillers. Enter the room and go near the window. Climb out of the window on the left, and onto the ledge. Walk to the left of the ledge, when three cleaners attack you from the bottom floor. Snipe them one-by-one and continue walking on the ledge until you reach scaffolding. Quickly jump onto the scaffolding as three more cleaners have arrived on the floor below. Now, snipe the three cleaners from the scaffolding. You may not be able to snipe at least one of them. Go to the top of the scaffolding and jump diagonally onto the ledge to your left. Snipe any of the remaining cleaner from here and go to the edge of this ledge. Save. Jump onto the next scaffolding, and watch out!!! It can't take your weight and the surface will fall down. Don't do anything and let it wall. You will be safely deposited to the ground below. A van with 5 cleaners will arrive to the right of the scaffolding in the middle. Throw a timed grenade near the opening back door of the van. Boom!!! A few of them are dead already!!! Kill the remaining cleaners with Kalashnikov or Sniper Rifle along with bullet time. Enter the room with the Flamingo board near the entrance. A cut- scene. Walk up to the 'Schizophrenic' counter to see something. Turn right and go through the doorway. Check the counter and enter the corridor on the left. At the end, turn left and go through the door. You can shoot the mirror on the right of the bathroom to see something. Take the other door and go to the end of the corridor. Enter the cage to go back up. A cut-scene. Turn right and through the double-door. Take a u-turn around the next open doorway and enter the mouth-like doorway on the left. The pillars are revolving and you will too if you step on the floor connected with the pillars. You will get it; you are supposed to go through the left door here. Go the right of this room and 'use' the phone booth there. It is pulled up revealing a new entrance. Enter and take the revolving star-like tunnel. At the end, turn right and go the only way you can. You will come across a double-door on the left without the doors. Enter and go left, you can check the room on the left if you feel like it. Anyways, go to the end and up the staircase. Turn around and check the door behind the staircase. It's locked!!! Go to the end of the long walkway, and enter the door on the right. Hop over the railing, onto the tin roof and through the open window. Go right and enter the second door here to find a dead guy in the tub and a few painkillers. Comeback to the main room and go to the terrace!!! Turn left to find that the railing dividing the adjoining roof has a big hole in it for you to pass. Crossover to the next roof and enter the house. If you didn't kill the first two cleaners on the corridor, then you will find two additional cleaners on the lower level of this house. After killing them, go to the second floor of the house, there are five cleaners up there. Shoot the nearest one and camp near the bottom of the stairs. All the other four cleaners will come to get it-give it to them. And proceed up the stairs; and enter the bedroom. A cut-scene. Take cover near the left of the bathroom door as three more thugs will come through the door. Kill them and collect there weapons. A new weapon-M4Carbine!!! Use whatever weapon you like since you will lose all the weapons after this level. Check the bathroom for painkillers. Exit through the door and turn right. Take cover on the left of the door and kill the two cleaners coming after you. Enter the room and check the closet on the right side of the room. Go down the stairs on the left. Two cleaners are busy with the piano on the left side here. Toss a Molotov at them; another will jump into the room through the window near the piano. Kill him too and onto the terrace. Look at the balcony below on the left; two cleaners are chatting there. Toss another Molotov at them. Jump onto that balcony. Go near the door and save. Enter the room, Kalashnikov equipped, and kill the three cleaners inside, two at the far end and another hiding behind the shelf in the middle. Go around the middle shelf to the right and kill the cleaner in the kitchen. Exit through the door and go near the middle wall of the floor. Three cleaners are laughing near the guy they have just killed. Go round the back and toss a Molotov at them and kill the survivor by any means necessary. Enter the door from where the poor guy come running out of. Check the bathroom beside the stairs for painkillers. Go down the stairs and exit through the door on the right. Go to your right and kill the only cleaner you see. Enter the door on the right, after the lone cleaner. Two cleaners are talking near the window. Kill the one see inside the window. Save and try various ways of killing on the cleaner outside the window. It's cool. Climb onto the window cleaner's lift and press the button. Hop out of the lift when it stops and keep jumping onto nearest ramp below you until you can go no further. Go to the right side and you will see a man thrown out of the window. A cleaner is standing in front of the window. Kill him and enter. Collect the painkillers on the counter and exit through the door. Save. Peek around the corner to your left to find three more cleaners. One on this side and two more on the other side of the glass!!! Kill the cleaner on this side and take cover behind the pillar in the middle. Kill the remaining two cleaners by any means necessary and hide behind box in the passage between the two sides of the floor. Peek to the other side to find two more cleaners. Throw a grenade over the box, hitting the roof and falling near them, killing them all. A cut-scene and a new character!!! Quickly move back to this side of the floor since three more cleaners will come out of the room you came from. Hide behind the pillar and kill all three of them quickly since another cleaner will come from behind. Kill him and resume your position behind the box. Look around the corner and kill them off one-by-one. After killing all three of them, the lift will open with one more cleaner occupying it. Kill him and enter and use the lift. Another officer talks to you about Winterson's whereabouts and her life. He directs you to the 'Interrogation Lineup' Room straight from your desk. Go through the door to find a witness identifying the shooters at the Inner Circle Members' Place. Wait till they finish, Detective Winterson will say something to you on her way out. Go and talk to the witness. After that, come out of the room. A cut-scene. Go to bravura's office, from there go to the 'Rec Room' to find a couple of officer's watching TV. Exit that room and through the double door. Go down the stairs and through another double-door. You will see a hot woman talking to the officer behind the 'Reception' desk. Hear them out for a hilarious crime report!!! You can talk to both of them after they are done. Go to the 'Dispatch' room beside the counter for a few words. Exit and go to where the woman is sitting. To your right is a 'Briefing' room you can check. Press the projector to change the picture over there. And to your right is the toilet. Enter the toilet beside the phone for a comment from another officer. Now, go near the double door opposite the 'Dispatch' room. From there, go left and through the green door in the behind. Down the stairs and through another door to find a couple of officers talking to each other!!! Back and through the double door you came from. Near the bottom of the stairs, there another door marked 'Lockup'. Go down the stairs; turn right, into the corridor and through the metal door there. Through another metal door here, and down the corridor to your left!!! A cut-scene. Back near the desk, before going through the metal door; check the other door near it for a hilarious story. Then go back through the first metal door and use the phone there. A cut-scene. Boom!!! Take all the weapons from the locker and hide behind it. Three thugs will come through the door. Bullet time and headshots will get them alright. Now, go through that door, and towards Mona Sax's cell. Quickly take cover using the wall that is sticking out on the left side. Two thugs will come in after you. Equip desert Eagle and go for their head. The second one may through a grenade, so watch out for that. Kill the third one too with a couple of body shots if not headshot. Exit through that door. No matter what you do, don't go to the right of the door. First collect all the weapons and check the van for a couple of grenades. Now, equip Pump-action Shotgun and head right. Another van will come. Go to the back door of that van before it opens up completely and shoot whoever you can. Don't forget to use bullet time. And then kill the two who exited the van via side door. A cleaner will run up the stairs, equip Desert Eagle and shoot him when gets on top of you. Then, shoot the one behind the fence. Turn back and head for the stairs. Equip Shotgun and Bullet time and go up the stairs. Turn around at the first landing and shoot one of the cleaners and enter the doorway there. Quickly comeback out and shoot the other one. Check that room on the right for a few painkillers. Then look through the fence-window and shoot the two cleaners there with Desert Eagle. Come back out and go up the stairs. Collect the Molotovs near the door and go through it. Look down the ramp to find two more cleaners near the mouth-like doorway. Toss a grenade at them. Then go right, near the corner, and look down to find another cleaner. Shoot to kill with Desert Eagle. Proceed to your right and then left. Enter the door there. And quickly press the lever to kill the two cleaners in the cage below. If anyone escapes, then simply shoot them with Desert Eagle. Save. Go forward and enter the door on the left. Quickly, go into bullet time, turn right and cross the ramp (bridge). And shoot the 4 cleaners there with Kalashnikov and headshots for all. Move around a lot while in Bullet time. Another one will be coming up the wooden stairs, shoot to kill and back off into the wall. Two more cleaners will be coming from your right side. You can go down to finish them off or wait upstairs for them to come up. After killing them, check the room on the left side of the stairs, the cage room for the cleaners' Kalashnikov. Go into room on the right side of the cage and collect the three cleaners' Kalashnikov there. Come back to the stairs and go to the right side of the stairs. At the end, you will find another door on the right side of the wall. Enter it. A cut-scene. No need to kill any of them, someone else will take care of them. Go forward and collect their weapon. A door on the far side on the left opens up and two cleaners come for you. Kill them and enter that room with cardboard cars. Go up the stairs and peek around the doorway to your left, to find another cleaner behind the next doorway on the left. Kill him and enter that room with cardboard people. Go through the doorway on the right. A cut-scene. Back off into the previous room and let someone else take care of them. Then go down the stairs, collect all the goodies, and enter the garage, the one with the 'Cocktail' sign on top. Go right through the door on the left. Peek around the corner on the left to find a cleaner camping on top of a tunnel-like metal thingy and many more in the backdrop. There are a total of seven of them there. If you stand back, then your friend will take care of six of them. You will have to kill the one at the far end. Kill him and go near the door behind the last one. Another one will come through that door. Shootdodge backwards and kill that one. Collect all the weapons and go through that door. A cut-scene. Quickly collect goodies from the van and hide behind the wall on the left of the small set of stairs. Two cleaners will come to look for their friend. Kill them and into the next room. Turn left, through the gate and go up the stairs there. Go through the door to find the 'dangerous red boxes' in there. Shoot it from far, if you feel like it. Boom!!! Go straight and through the double door on the left. Hide next to the pillar near the escalator. Two cleaners will down the escalator, kill them and proceed up the escalator. This double door is locked. Go to the other side and through that other double door. Notice the small boxes in the middle??? They are explosive canisters too!!! Shoot it from far to see how beautiful they look!!! All the doors are locked and you are stuck. How about blowing up those 'dangerous red boxes'??? Stand back and shoot it. Boom!!! Now, the lift door is open for you to continue in your vendetta against the cleaners!!! Drop down into the lift and exit through the bottom doors. Take the door on the right and again go near the door on the right. Save. Equip MP5, enter the next area and look up on the right side. A cleaner on the roof of a small cabin, zoom in and shoot to kill. Go round the left side and kill the two cleaners behind the green car. Look at the far end of the right side. Two more cleaners coming through there; zoom in and kill them. Or go close to them and kill them with Kalashnikov or any other weapon you feel like using. Check the cabin and its roof for goodies. Take the second door you saw on the right side. There are two doors here you can take. Let's just take the open doorway on the right first. Enter and go near the open doorway on the far left corner. Remember this place??? Go down the first set of stairs and take cover behind the wall in the middle. Peek around the corner to see three cleaners coming up the stairs. Kill them and collect there weapons. Now, go back to the place with two doors. Take the second and straighter door now. Go through the double door on the left side and peek around the corner on the left. Two cleaners coming your way; kill them and go left. Look into the long corridor using the wall as cover and you will see another cleaner coming your way. Let him come a bit close and then charge into that corridor killing him. Now, use that corridor wall to look into the previous corridor. Two cleaners coming from behind!!! Kill them and proceed through that long corridor. Enter the first door on the right for some painkillers and other goodies. Back out, and enter the first door on the left side for some more painkillers and a TV news update. Back out and enter the open door on the opposite side. Go towards the other open door of this room and take cover behind that door. Three cleaners will come to get it, give it to them. Go to the end of this long corridor and through the double door at the end. Look to your left to find a small door next to the double door. Enter and up the stairs to the floor above. Enter the room to find a locked double door and a big hole on the ground. Go through the other small door and up the stairs again. Peek in to the room on the right side before entering. A cleaner is standing near the double doorway. Kill him and enter that place. Again watch out for the holes. Two more cleaners will be coming from the left side. Kill them and head to the long corridor on the left. Watch out for another cleaner firing at you from the far end. Use the table standing against the left side wall to get near him. Want to get more up close and personal with him, go and take cover behind the long table just in front of that cleaner. Save. And now use all kinds of weapons against him for a cool death sequence. Now, take the doorway on the right and go to its other door. Exit and quickly hide behind the long table. There's a cleaner on the other side of the table. Use shotgun and bullet time. Kill him and go forward to kill another one near by and two after turning left. Go to the middle door to find it locked. Go to the left side and enter the small door there. Go through the hole in the wall on the right side. And open the door on the right side in here and retreat. Five of them will come for your blood. Equip shotgun, wait for them to come near you, go into bullet time and charge at them. Kill them with one shot each. See the red boxes in the middle on the left side??? There's a door beyond it. Enter it and then go through the door on the left yet again. A cut-scene. Collect all the goodies from the crates here. Go around to the other side and go near the pillar between the crates to find some more ammo. Take the double door to find that the path is broken. Take the small door near the crates and go up the stairs in to the room above. Go through the double door on the left side ahead. This walkway, too, is broken in the middle. But, you can jump to the other side, so go and jump. Three cleaners will fire at you from the ground floor. Snipe them with MP5 if you want to. Enter the room and collect the sniper ammo here. Then enter the lift doorway and jump onto the crates to reach the next floor. Collect the goodies and go through the double door on the right side. Go to the other side of the walkway and near the double door. Don't shoot the red boxes in the middle. Three guys in black suit will come out from that door. Kill them and enter the room. Who are those guys??? We will call them black-suit. Take the small door on the right and up the stairs into the room above. Go around the pillar in the middle, through the small door and up the stairs. A black-suit is inside the room. Kill him and enter. Take the double- door on the left and walk up to the next double-door. Four black-suits are waiting for you inside. Equip Shotgun and Bullet time and enter the room, blasting them all. Remember, they now seem to take more damage, so watch out for it. Collect everything here and go through the small door on the other side. And enter the room on the left to find something horrific. Jump over the counter on the left, turn right, collect the painkillers from the red box on the left near the door, and then exit through the double-door. Head to your right and then enter the long corridor on the left. Halfway through the corridor and the floor will collapse. Enter the door on the right side and see a cleaner being blown away to hell!!! Proceed through the hole on the left-side wall and look at the cracked wall at the far end on the left. Shoot at the explosive canister on the table to create a hole in the wall. Boom!!! Jump through the hole onto the beams and follow it to another doorway at the far left corner. Enter and head through corridor on the right. Go down to the level below and turn around. Go to the end of this corridor to find another broken floor. Two cleaners are waiting for you on the right side in the level below. Drop down and kill them while staying to the right side, as the ceiling will collapse on the left side. After killing them, go through the only door, and head to the right side. A cleaner is waiting in the middle of the passage. Kill him and keep going forward. Turn right, near the end and you will come across a double door. Three cleaners are inside the room. Enter, and take cover behind the counter on the left after killing the cleaner on the other side of the counter. Shoot the explosives on the right side of the room. Boom!!! Kill the remaining two cleaners and collect the painkillers from the red box on the counter. Equip MP5 and go near the hole on the right, created by the explosion. There are four cleaners in the room below. Kill at least three of them from here. Use all the corners of the hole to locate the cleaners and then kill them with MP5 and scope. Drop down and kill the remaining cleaner/cleaners. Then, again drop down through the hole on the ground to the floor below. Go through the double door and check the long corridor on the left side for something really gross. The only time I felt sorry for a cleaner!!! Now, take the long corridor on the right side. Halfway through, you will come across a big hole on the left side wall. Go through it, and continue forward through another hole in the wall on the upper side of the room. Keep on running straight. Look up and shoot the cleaner on the second floor to the left side. Go to the middle and head to the left to find a doorway. Enter and climb up to the top of the staircase. A cleaner is waiting at the top, kill him with shotgun and go one floor down. Equip Dragunov and go through the doorway, and kiss the wall on the other side of the door. Look up on the balcony on the other side of the walkway to find a cleaner. Snipe him and go to the other side of the room to find a doorway. Go up one level and enter the door. Quickly hide behind the boxes and snipe the cleaner on the opposite side balcony. Come back to the door and save. Go up the stairs and come back down when you hear gunshots and hide behind the boxes again, look towards the doorway. Three cleaners will come for your blood. Kill them all with shotgun. Now head to the top of the stairway, equip Dragunov and go through the doorway. A cleaner with Ingram is waiting on the left side of the room. Kiss the wall opposite the door and let him go to the elevator on the right. Now, peek around the wall on the right and snipe him. Now, take the elevator to the floor below. Check this floor for painkillers and enemy weapons and go through the door on the right marked with a 'DANGER' SIGN. Quickly take cover behind the wall on the right side, and two cleaners will come for you. Kill them with shotgun. Then, snipe the cleaner at the far end of the corridor with Dragunov. Go forward and enter the first room on the right to find another cleaner outside the room's second doorway on the opposite side. Kill him with Dual Ingrams and collect all the enemy's weapons, and painkillers too, to get a MP5. Now head to right side from the end of the corridor to come a staircase and a narrow walkway. Save. Go up the plank and into the narrow walkway, and quickly retreat back. Hide behind the large box to the left and wait for five cleaners to come after you. Use shotguns and bullet time to kill them all. Collect all their weapons for MP5 ammo. Again, go into the walkway and up the stairs on the left side. Hide behind the box to the left and kill the cleaner at the far end of the corridor. Go forward and down the next staircase to the floor below for some Desert Eagle ammo. Back up and go forward and up another set of stairs to the top floor. Enter the room on the right side of the walkway. Save. Go into the first room on the opposite side and kill the cleaner outside the second door of the room. Peek around the first door to find a cleaner on the left side hiding behind boxes. Kill him with MP5. Shootdodge through the second door in to the opposite room and then kill the cleaner on the left of that room's doorway. Take cover behind the left side of the room's doorway and wait for three black-suits to come after you. Kill them when they do. Collect all the Kalashnikov's. Take cover into the same room. Equip Dragunov and snipe the three black-suits at the far end of the corridor. Go near them and through the door at the end of the corridor. Go to the right of the room and around the glass-wall divider. Go left and then right. Through the door and hide behind the boxes on the left side. Three more cleaners!!! Kill the first one with a head shot and then kill the two coming for your blood. Two more cleaners arrive at the far end of the room. Snipe them with MP5. Go to the end of the room, peek into the room on the right side to find a cleaner camping outside the room's second door. Kill him and go through that room. New York City. Last Night. Castling Insurance Companies Construction Site---- Building & Balcony (Mona Sax). "Throw the rules out of the window, odds are you'll go that way too." Exit the room and look back into the room. A cleaner jump into the room from the top, kill him and collect all the ammo from that room. Exit the room again and go right. Past the first room on the right (it is closed), and stop near the second one (a broken room with a broken doorway and a plank hanging out from the doorway). Go to the extreme of the plank and jump onto the metal platform leading to the room on the other side. Check the room for some painkillers and come back to the metal platform. Jump from the extreme of the platform onto the plank (if it has not fallen down). If it has, then jump onto the broken wall to your right, left from the plank. Go right again, and through the wooden double-doorway (without the doors), and you will come across a room with a balcony. Equip MP5 and go into the room and onto the balcony. Look to your left side and you will see a cleaner on a roof of a building slightly to your left. Try to snipe him with MP5. If you miss him, then we will get him later. Exit the balcony and the room, equip Kalashnikov or MP5, and head to the right of the room. Peek around the broken wall on the left to see a black-suit coming through a door on the left. Kill him and collect his weapon and painkiller. Again, collect the painkillers from the red box and stand against that door. Save. Equip Kalashnikov and MP5, and go through the door. Keep running ahead and kill the black-suit in front of you. Stand under the ramp near the black-suit's (the one you killed) position. Bullet time and slowly move backwards while looking up. Shoot as soon as you see their head. Kill them all one-by-one. Save. Go up the ramp and collect all the Kalashnikov and painkillers that they have dropped. Come back down and go to the other side of this room. Through the door, left and forward, and through another door!!! A cut-scene. Save. Go into bullet time kill the guy in front of the doorway. Quickly equip Dragunov, and look down to the extreme right of the open yard below. Three black-suits will be running towards Max. Snipe them before they get half-way near Max. Now, Max will also join the fight. And you will have to protect him and must not let him get killed. If he gets killed, then it's 'GAME OVER' for you too. Go through the new door (where you just killed a black-suit after the cut-scene), and then another and kill the black-suit thug here (if you didn't snipe the thug on the roof of another building to your left earlier). Proceed to the end of the roof and onto the ramp at the extreme end and look down. Notice the small cabins to the left of the yard. Three black- suits/cleaners will come out onto the walkway from the cabins on the first floor. And two will appear on the yard to the right of the cabins. One will come from the right side of the yard (straight at the end of the yard) and two more will come out from behind the cabin and in front of the cabin. Snipe them all with Dragunov. A cut-scene. Two more thugs will appear, one from behind the cabin and one on top of the cabins. Snipe them again. Another cut-scene. Two more thugs will appear. You can kill one of them but the other will be hidden behind the cabins. Max will tell you to find another way. Turn around and go to the beginning of the roof (after two rooms). Collect the ammos from the floor. Take the door on the left. Go to the beginning of the room and through the door. This is the room with the steel ramps where you killed three black-suits on top of them. Go to the other side of the room and through the door. Head to left and peek around the wall to find two thugs behind that wall. Kill them and go to the balcony of the room on the left side. This is the first balcony of the level. From here, snipe the thug hiding to the right side of the cabin. Two more thugs will appear from the top floor of the cabin. Snipe them and turn around. Exit this room and go straight and then left. Kill the black-suit near you. Equip a scope-weapon and snipe the goon at the far end of the corridor. Go forward and into the room where you started the level. Boom!!! If you didn't blow the explosive barrel at the end of the corridor earlier, then two thugs will be blown to bits. If you did, then kill the two thugs yourself and exit the room. Go through the door on the left. Go forward, collect painkillers and hide behind the big box on the left. Wait and two black-suits will come for you. Kill them. Another one may or may not come for you. Kill him anyways. Collect everything and go through the door at the end. Head left and then right. Take cover behind the wall on the left and kill the two thugs here. Head to the balcony at the end, and kill the thug at the top of the stairs to your right. Now look down to the yard below, close to the balcony and snipe the thug. A cut-scene. Go up the stairs now and into the room above. Exit this room and head to the right. Snipe the only thug you see on the scaffolding up ahead and watch a cool death sequence. Walk up to the scaffolding and look down to the yard below on the left side. Two cleaners on the cabin walkway!!! Snipe the one near the corner (turn) and keep aiming there. Two more thugs will try to take that turn. Snipe them too. If you miss them, don't worry, Max will get them. A cut-scene. Now, snipe the gas cylinders on the second floor. Boom Boom!!! Two more thugs will come out on the first floor's walkway. Kill them too. Turn around and exit the two rooms. Equip Kalashnikov, turn right and go to the end of this walkway. Kiss the wall on the far side and peek around the big box to the right to find a couple of black-suits coming after you followed by two more. Let them come to you. Kill them with bullet time and head shots using the big box as cover. Collect their weapons and the four painkillers that they have dropped. Go through the door on the right>left marked 'Danger--Hard Hat Area'. Turn right and go through the second door of the room. Go straight and turn right to find explosive barrels and ramps leading to a scaffolding/balcony. Go to the balcony after collecting Molotovs near the ramp on the right side. Look down the scaffolding to the yard below on the right side to find a cabin with a thug occupying the first floor walkway. Go to the metal platform of the scaffolding that sticks out the most (on the left side) and snipe him. On this side of the cabin near the boxes, four more thugs will appear. Snipe them before they kill Max Payne. Max will help you too here. Look up to the metal walkway above you. Two more thugs will come from there once you finish talking to Max. Quickly run back halfway to the middle of this platform and look at the walkway above. Start shooting them as soon as you see them. Kill them and climb up the metal ramp. Go into the room on the right side of the top level. Exit this room, go right and then left. You will be outside a room leading to another scaffolding. If you go there, then you will have to kill two more thugs. We will go in. You can try yourself without going in. When you reach the scaffolding, look to your right to find a black- suit running from the left to the right of the bridge at the far end. You can snipe him and watch a cool death sequence. Turn around and take cover near the right side of the doorway of this room. Two more thugs are coming from where you came a few moments ago. Kill them using Bullet time and your favourite weapon. Exit this room and head to your left. Go towards the door at the far end. A black-suit will come out from that room (if he hasn't already, if you take too long to kill the previous two thugs, then he may have already entered this area) when you near it. Kill him and enter. Kill the black-suit who is climbing up. If you didn't kill the thug on the bridge, then there will be another thug camping on the platform below. Kill him and go down. Take the only doorway here. Head to the left side until you reach a bridge. If you didn't go near the scaffolding earlier, then there will be two thugs on the other side. If you did then go forward to the other side!!! As soon as you enter the bridge, a thug will appear on the other side. Shootdodge backwards/forwards and kill him. Go forward to the other side and peek around the corner to your left to find a few thugs. Show yourself and they will run up the staircase. And two more will come after you. Either use cover and wait for them, or use bullet time and a rapid-fire weapon to kill them. Collect the five painkillers and head to the left side and peek around to the top of the staircase to find two thugs. Kill them and head to right side of this room. Go down the stairs and ramps. You will walk into two black-suits while going down. Kill them and enter the big hall one floor below. There are three thugs here. You can take cover behind the box on the right and kill them. Or charge at them using bullet time and shoot them and the cylinders. After killing them, go down the stairs on the other side. There are two thugs on the right side and two on the top of the stairs on the left side. Use m4 Carbine and bullet time, and start shooting the thugs on the right side first. After quickly killing them, shoot the cylinder on top of the left staircase platform. The two thugs will run down the ramp. Kill them. Head down the staircase and kill the two thugs that you will meet while going down. At the bottom level, take cover behind the left of the doorway and wait for two thugs to come for you. Kill them when they near the doorway. Exit and run up to the big crate that you see up ahead. Look up at the scaffolding to find two more thugs. Snipe them. Walk forward and head to the big yellow crane on the left. Turn left; go forward and up the ramp. Head to the single cabin on the left!!! Go to the left side of it, collect painkillers and hide behind the big crate/box. Two thugs will come that way after finishing their talk. Kill them. Go to the back of this room and hide behind the cubicles. Two thugs will come in. Keep hiding, and wait. A guard will come in and the thugs will shoot him. The guard has dropped his weapon on the ground. Wait for the thugs to come after you and go round the right side and pick up his weapon. Now what??? Kill them both using bullet time. Collect their weapon, check the cubicles and cabinets for painkillers, and go through the other door (from where the guard came in). Turn right, go forward and enter the door on the left side. Collect the weapons and painkillers from the panels on the left and head towards the other door on the right side. As you near it, the door will open. Quickly take cover using the right side of the doorway. Three thugs will come towards it. Equip MP5 and headshot-kill them when they come near the doorway. Check the cabinets beside that door, and go through to the other room. Check the steel cabinets at the far end and go through the other door of this room. Watch the TV and then head left.
