Dr. Brain
The genius scientist who has mistakingly switched his brain with his lab
rat's. He possesses the body of Rathbone in the game. It's your job to
recover all the parts of his brain so he can return to his normal self.

Dr. Elaine
Dr. Brain's niece, she has hurried here upon hearing the news and guides you
through the puzzles. She helps out a great deal throughout the game and has
 some great tips.

Rathbone
Dr. Brain's rat who has had its brain swithed with the doctor's and inhabits
Dr. Brain's body for the majority of the game. The only thing that the real
Rathbone does is repeat random phrases that the Doctor says.

/-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=\
 2. Playing the Game [200]
\-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=/

Dr Brain and his neice Dr. Elaina are deep inside his castle where they need to
solve the dilemna of returning his mind to his body. The screen behind them is
where you'll be playing the game. There are ten puzzles altogethor and you can
switch back and forth between them as much as you like before getting 100%.
However you can't access the final level until you've obtained 100% on the
other nine puzzles.

Around the lab, you'll notice to the left of the puzzle screen is a control
board that lets you watch the beginning and ending clips (if you've unlocked
it) and on the other side is the quit switch which takes you out of the game.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
 i. The Tool Bar [210]
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Each of the ten puzzles has its own objective but each shares the same tool
bar. There's a video screen panel in the top right where you can ask for help
from Dr. Elaina. Keep in mind this can result in the percentage points
lowering. If you want an explanation of the puzzle, there's an instruction
button right below her where she can tell you how to go about the puzzles.

Right below that there is a panel that if you move your mouse over, it'll open
to reveal a wire frame of Dr. Brain's brain. You can click this to leave the
current puzzle you are on.

To the left of that is your percentage completion, once it reaches the top you
are done with that specific area. And just below the wire frame is your total
score.

Across the bottom is the difficulty panel. Green is the easiest whereas red is
the hardest. The higher the difficulty the harder it is but the reward is much
greater.

 ii. The Brain Puzzles [22X]
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

There are ten different puzzles to choose from. For every puzzle I will list
the differences between the difficulties, hints and general strategy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   1. Music Region [221]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For this puzzle, Dr. Brain has become "Herr Rathbone Von Brain" with an ear for
a great tune. He'll play a melody and you'll then have to arange the notes to
match it. If you ever need him to repeat it, just click on him again.

Novice
Click the staff on the screen to show the notes and then press play to hear it.
You can use switch to move them around and you can highlight seperate pieces to
see what they sound like togethor. When you think you're done, play it
altogethor and Dr Brain will acknowledge it if it is. If you need a hint, ask
Eleina for a hint but remember this decreases the points you'll get.

Expert
When you move it to expert it gets a little tricky. You'll notice that a
Horizontal Flip command has been added. Some measure might be backwards so
you'll have to determine which ones need to be flipped to get it right.
Rathbone won't accept it if there's a backwards measure in the correct place so
you'll need to highlight it and then press Horizontal Flip.

Genius
This level is insane, not only will you have to deal with all the previous
stuff, but measures can also be upside-down! And they even might be both
upside-down and backwards! You can blaze through the section if you can master
this.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-There is always more than one way to solve a puzzle
-Play one measure at a time
-Start with the beginning and ending measures of the tune
-Click on the harpischord and have Rathbone repeat the selection

General Tips
-Try flipping it horizontally, then vertically and vice versa
-Keep in mind, some pieces of music might sound better backwards. They were
 composed that way on purpose
-Work for one piece at a time, listen to the opening that Rathbone plays and
 try to match that

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   2. File Sorting [222]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In File Sorting, you are given a few objects that you must place in differnt
drawers and then he mixes them up. He'll then display an object on the
television that you must recover.

Novice
You don't have to remember that many objects, this is a battle of memorizing
where things are. If you get an answer wrong then you have to start over.

Expert
Here, it changes a little bit and you won't be able to breeze right through. He
may stop halfway through and the change them and give you some more objects.
There are usually around five that he gives you.

Genius
This gets insane, Rathbone is giving you all sorts of items you have to hide
and retrieve while at the same time he's giving you more, asking you to
retrieve them AND mixing the files up. You'll really need to memorize where
everything is.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-Say the object names out loud to help remember them
-The longer you hesitate the more difficult it gets
-Close your eyes and recreate the color and shapes you're trying to remember
-Try to feel the temperature and texture inside the file cabinet
-Attach a smell to the storage location

General Tips
-Try to put the object in the same colored file as it is
-If you want to "cheat" write down where things are put and switched

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   3. Motor Programming [223]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rathbone needs you to program the electronic Dr. Brain to get all the brains on
the grid. There's brains all over the maze and you have to give all the
commands to get him there safely.

Novice
There are seven lines of commands at your disposal. The bugs aren't as
threatening as they get later on so you shouldn't have much problem with them.
You can select "Move" which moves the Doctor in the direction he's facing.
"Wait" which causes the Doctor to stand while something passes by. There are
"Turn Left/Right" commands which only change the way he's looking, they DON'T
move to a new square. "Pickup" which has him pick up a brain that he is over.
If you need to reset the command list, press "reset" to wipe it clean. When you
think you've got the right code, press "start" to begin.

Expert
When you change difficulties you're given a few changes. Firstly, you'll notice
that you now have another list to use AND a repeat command which goes back
through the list. Plus there's much more bugs that can elminate you.

Genius
Another list of commands is available for use and even more brains and bugs
have been added. You're really gonna have to think about these to accomplish
them.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-If you can't move around a bug - wait until it moves out of your way
-Make sure you pick up all the brains
-Use your subroutines carefully and efficiently for best results
-Use subroutines to expand your ability to move
-Keep trying different codes if it doesn't work the first time. There is no
"one" right answer to solve this puzzle. There are many possible solutions
and it's up to you to come up with one.

General Tips
-Don't get discouraged when you see a hard puzzle, it's much easier than it
 looks

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   4. Neural Maze [224]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're going underground here, there's mazes to go through and you have to get
to the end. My holding down your mouse you can move the object towards your
mouse.

Novice
There are around three levels that you must manuever. You can jump down a tubes
that transport you to different areas and there are blue and red arrows that
move you up and down levels.

Expert
There are now seven levels that you have move through. Not much else is
different except for it being longer.

Genius
Tweleve levels are now added to the challenge. There isn't a straightforward
route as you may think, you'll have to go up a few levels to a new path and
then go back down.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-She will let you know if you should move up or down a level
-There are many solutions and multiple paths
-If you path reaches a dead end, try another

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   5. Train of Thought [225]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Numerous colored balls are released onto the track and it's your job to guide
them to the exit in the order they show you, if any of them crash into each
other or one goes into the wrong color you have to start over.

Novice
Flip the START switch to get the puzzle going, different colored balls will be
released and you have to move the right colored ball to the color displayed at
the other end. Nothing to hard here.

Expert
A few different changes to novice, the balls will move faster and there are a
few more. There are also tunnels and color-coded tracks that only certain
colored balls can move on.

Genius
It gets pretty crazy as things are even faster and more abundant than before.
There are more tracks to flip and more color-coded tracks. It'll be a very
intense period of time.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-Create a stable system by catching the thoughts in a loop
-Catch the thoughts in loops before trying to dock any of them
-Once you have the thoughts contained, you can selectively pick out the ones
 you need.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   6. Pentode [226]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're now going to have to do some matching. Your choices include Sign
Language, Greek, Elements, and Roman Numerals. Random symbols will appear and
you must click where you want them to go on the screen. You get more points for
matching things togethor but lose if you fill the entire board.

Novice
When the game starts, random pieces will start appearing. Rathbone tells you
what they are but doesn't show what it looks like. You have to use your skills
to place it next to another similar one to delete both of them for points. You
can match up to five at the same time (A Pentode) which gives you bonus points.
When you reach 12:00, the game is over and you'll gain the points you worked
for.

Expert
A few changes are added such as pieces moving faster, some tiles are blocked
off and a larger variety of symbols are added.

Genius
The pieces move faster, there's more variety and this time when you match up a
Pentode, the last one won't dissaper while the other(s) will.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-Plan your moves quickly but place tiles carefully
-Keep your eye on the queue, you need not place each character on the grid
 immediately
-Leaving a space between pairs allows for groupings of threes and fours.

General Tips
-Focus on collecting four different symbols in each of the four corners and
place the rest in the center. You can keep track of them much easier this
way and you'll get a lot more match-ups.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   7. Synaptic Cleft [227]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You need to roundup all the cows to the corral. Get to it comboy!

Novice
Cows will be released and you have to guide them through the dangerous field
and into the small exit. If they hit anything else they'll be destroyed and you
have to get another. By clicking with your mouse, you have a force field like
power that moves them. The faster you click the faster they go.

Expert
There are a few more obstacles here and the cows go a little faster. It's not
that much harder than novice though.

Genius
The cows now go even faster and there are more obstacles in the way as well a
an attracter that brings them to doom.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-Don't hold your mouse button down the entire game
-Be careful and selective with your force application
-Focus on getting just one neurotransmitter to the receptor cell at a time
-Notice that the neurotransmitters respond differently to the various objects
-You can "BANK" neurotransmitters off of selective force objects
-If you're a good "SHOT" you don't need to guide neurotransmitters all the
 way to the receptor cell.

General Tips
-Take it slow, and focus on one at a time

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   8. Word Surge [228]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unlike a word search, where you can find the word and you're done. You have to
create all the words listed by moving the puzzle around.

Novice
Letters are scrambled on a 3x3 grid. You can use the arrows to rotate the
letters through the row or column. There are two words you must complete at the
same time and they can be forward, backward, diagonally, horizontally, and/or
vertically.

Expert
A 4x4 grid has emerged and a few more words have been added. It's basically the
same as before.

Genius
The grid opens up to 5x5 where you have to match up six words to advance.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-There are many solutions and multiple paths
-If your path reaches a dead end, perhaps try another
-You might get a running start by free-associating lists of words
-Figure out how all the words in the list will fit togethor in the grid
-Consider shifting the words into new orientations if the current solution
 dead ends.

General Tips
-As stupid as it may sound, if you can get a couple of the words listed, you
can randomly change the orders and a lot of the time you'll get the rest.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   9. 3-D Construction [229]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're given a model already constructed for you and you most rotate it around
to find out where things are placed. Then you must try and build it!

Novice
You're given a few things to use though; a model, left/right arrows to rotate,
a floating two-level, 2-D grid design, and two squares to place a cube in with
ease.

Expert
The floating model of what you've already made has dissapeared and the grid has
grown to 4x4 with three levels instead of the previous 3x3 two level object.

Genius
The object is now 5x5 and there are four levels in all that are all the same
color. You'll truly be challenged here.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-Be patient and go slowly
-Rotate the model to the correct orientation so the model and your
 construction line up
-Some blocks are hidden from the side from which you are viewing
-Dr Elaina will let you know which level is incomplete, if one has too many
pieces or if it needs some adjustments.

General Tips
-Even though it may look like you have it down, you may have it off an entire
level without even noticing the difference.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   10. Dreamland [220]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After you've completed the other nine areas with 100% completion you gain
access to Dreamland. Rathbone isn't here to help you and must safely guide his
marbles through the puzzles.

Novice
You have to use your mouse to move the marble and there are plenty of repellers
and retractors that will send the marble to floating mines which will destroy
the marble.

Expert
The main changes are that there's more of everything as well as teleporters and
the terrain changes significantly.

Genius
Everything is increased from the Expert difficulty and now there are even more
teleporters so you'll have trouble figuring out where the marble will go.

Hints from Dr. Elaina
-The force you apply is like a rubberband, the further from the marble you
 click, the greater the response
-Be patient and explore the properties of the world
-Sometimes the obvious is not so obvious
-Planning and finesse may prove more useful than brute force
-Direct solutions are not always successful in Dreamland

General Tips
-Don't go straight to for the finish, it's never the right way if you can go
straight there. Look for a way around the obstacles.

\-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=/

Q. This is the third one, how different is it from the rest?
A. This one focuses more on the Puzzles and not so much on the adventure.

Q. Are there other Dr. Brain games?
A. Yep, there's a total of six.

Q. What difficulty do you recommend?
A. Expert, although you should really practice on Novice and then move up.
Only do Genius if you are super good or you'll just be wasting your time.

Went back and added some personal tips that make the puzzles easier or have
some sort of strategy to them. I also added more to the character info.
