The Achievements ------------------- There are currently 48 achievements worth 1000 gamerscore. There are no difficulty settings until you beat the game, then you can start playthrough 2 that makes the zombies equal to your level. All achievement stats carry over to multiple playthroughs and multiple character playthroughs. For example, you kill 230 zombies with sharp weapons on one character, then start another character and kill 20 more. You still get the achievement for killing 250 zombies with sharp weapons. You can gain 42 of the achievements worth a total of 910 gamerscore offline. The last 6 achievements you need Xbox Live or System Link to obtain. There are no missable achievements because you can always replay the game or join a friend's game to get achievements you missed. Joining a lower level friend's game is essential to getting some of the harder killing achievements like killing 5 zombies with a single blow. II. The Achievements -------------------- A. Rootin' Tootin' Lootin' - Loot 5 Exceptional Weapons. 30G - These are weapons that are randomly found around the game that are in Orange text. They are not always great weapons but are considered rare. Once you have picked up the weapon, you can sell it or whatever you feel like doing with it. B. Tis but a flesh wound! - Sever 100 limbs. 10G - This can only be done with sharp weapons. Machetes and scythes work really well. Aim for the arms, legs and heads. C. There and back again - Explore the entire island. 30G - There are a total of 72 places to travel to on the island. You will get the majority of them while doing quests and side quests. *Note* as of right now, this achievement is glitched because you can only discover 71 places on the map. Some people are saying that the 72nd place is future DLC but we will see. I will keep this updated. D. Catch! - Kill an Infected with a grenade blast. 10G - You must first find a grenade, they are rare to find. Now you must use it on an infected which are the zombies that run at you. E. Road Trip - Drive a total distance of 10 kilometers. 10G - You will gain access to trucks you can drive early on in the game. You end up driving quite a bit through the game so this is really easy to get. F. Cardio - Travel a distance of 20 kilometers on foot. 10G - You will do a lot of walking/running while making your way through the game. You will have no problem getting this one. G. Swing them sticks - Kill 150 enemies using Analog Fighting controls. 25G - First you must turn on Analog in the options menu. Go to the controls menu and turn it on. Once on, you will have to hold the left trigger and then flick the right control stick around to aim and such. Takes minute to get use to. Easier to do early on in the game when the zombies are weaker. Another trick is to kill zombies while driving. All hit and run kills count towards this if you have Analog activated on the options menu. H. Gesundheit! - Heal yourself with a medkit 100 times. 10G - Medkits are rare to find around the game. I find most off of dead zombies or you can buy them from time to time. One trick you can do is start a new game and grab the medkit out of the bathroom in the Prologue level. Use it and then reload checkpoint. Rinse and Repeat. I. Light my fire - Set 10 zombies on fire simultaneously. 20G - Best to use a molotov to do this. While on Act 2, you can exit the church and you will see an ambulance on the bridge to the right. Round of the zombies to follow you and then jump on the top of the ambulance. Once you see about 10 of them below you, throw you molotov onto them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5w3CNvzjtI J. 10 heads are better than 1 - Kill 10 zombies in a row with headshots. 15G - This one isn't as annoying as it sounds. You can kick the zombies on the ground and then shoot them in the head to get a better shot. For an easier method, take a high level character into a friends game that is at the start of the game and all shots will be 1 hit kills. Aim for the head. You can miss the heads but don't hit the zombies anywhere else but the head or you'll have to start over. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nsowQyVLQ8 K. A taste of everything - Kill a zombie with 10 different melee weapons. 25G - There is a wide variety of melee weapons in the game. Hard not to get this one if you are picking up different weapons. Pipes, knives, paddles, scythes, wrenches, coat hangers, cleavers, etc. L. One is all I need - Kill 5 Infected in a row with a single blow. 20G - You must kill 5 zombies in a row with 1 hit. Very easy to do if you take a high level character into a low level characters game. M. Can't touch this - Use a hammer to kill a series of 15 zombies without taking damage. 20G - Best to take a hammer into a lower level friends game and do this. You can be grappled while doing this as long as you can knock the zombie off before it damages you. Find zombies feeding or laying down to kill is the best method. If a zombie is coming at you, kick it down and then attack it with your hammer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0uDasqqzbE N. Humanitarian - Kill 50 human enemies. 15G - If you are completing all the quests, you will come across quite a bit of humans. You will have no problems getting this one. O. Tae Kwon Leap - Kill 25 zombies with your bare fists. 25G - Best to do this early on or by joining a low level friend's game. Just attack zombies with your fists. P. I want one of those - Customize 25 weapons. 30G - This does not count upgrades, just mods used with blueprints. You can make 25 of the same blueprint and get this which is nice. Deo-Bombs use the least resources to make. They only require Deodorant x2 and Duct Tape x1. You get this blueprint from Mick Fler in the Lighthouse after finishing the side quest, Tell Me Where It Hurts. Q. Karma-geddon - Kill 50 zombies using a vehicle. 15G - You will get this fairly early on just by completing missions. Just keep your eye out for steering wheel icons on the mini map. Once in the car, just hit every zombie you see. R. To put it bluntly - Kill 250 zombies using blunt melee weapons. 25G - Blunt weapons include paddles, wrenches, pipes, coat hangers, batons, maces and baseball bats. Best done with Sam B since he specializes blunt objects. Throw kills also count. S. Hack & slash - Kill 250 zombies using edged melee weapons. 25G - Edged melee weapons include knives, scythes, cleavers, machetes. Best done with Xian Mei since she specializes with sharp weapons. Throw kills also count. T. Guns don't kill but they help - Kill 250 zombies using firearms. 25G - Guns include pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles and even mounted guns. You can use the mounted machine gun at city hall and keep reloading your checkpoint to get this one. U. Need a hand? - Join another player's game. 10G - This can be a friend or just a random person. This can be obtained through Xbox Live Gold or System Link. V. Warranty Void if Used - Create a customized weapon. 10G - This can be obtained as soon as you get your first blueprint. Go to a workbench and combine with a weapon for this. W. Gotta find'em all - Find 60 collectibles. 20G - See Nearly There. X. Nearly there - Find 120 collectibles. 25G - There are 140 total collectables in the game. Id badges, folders, recorders and blueprints all count. You can get this really cheap by creating a new game and picking up the first collectable you see because it doesn't reset once you create a new game. Y. Steam Punk - Create weapons to rival the gods of fire or thunder. 30G - Any weapon you create using the Shock Mod or the Torch Mod will unlock this. You get the Torch Mod for completing the quest Counsel of Despair. You get the Shock Mod for completing the Black Hawk Down quest. Z. Originality - Play in a co-op team of 4 different playable characters. 10G - You must be a full 4 player game and everyone needs to be using all different characters. Kind of hard to find unless you organize a group. AA. Together in the light - Complete 5 quests in a single co-op game with the same partners. 10G - This must be done in one session. Not too hard to do since everyone can work on different side quests in the same game. Just complete 5 to get this. AB. Going steady - Complete 25 quests while playing with at least one co-op partner. 25G - This is one of those over time achievements. It does not have to be done in the same game just as long as you are completing quests with at least one co-op partner, you will get this eventually. AC. Rageman - Kill 100 enemies with Fury attacks. 25G - After you level up once, you gain access to a skill point and can unlock your fury mode. It is on the left on the skill points menu. Once you have it unlocked, kill some zombies to get your fury meter up. The circle meter in the upper left corner of the screen beside your health. Hold B to go into fury mode. You will get this over time. AD. People Person - Play with 10 different co-op partners for at least 15 minutes each. 10G - This will take a bit of time. If you have Xbox Live Gold, just join up with other people or leave your room open and hopefully people will join off of you. AE. M�nage � trois - Complete 5 quests with 3 co-op partners. 25G - This can be done over different lobbies. You just have to complete 5 quests with a full game of 4. AF. Right 4 Life - Complete act I with 4 different characters. 30G - AG. A very special day - Kill 250 zombies with modified weapons. 30G - Just a simple weapon upgrade counts for this so you can get this really easy. Weapon mods also count. Just upgrade your weapon at a work bench and start killing. AH. Knock, knock - Breach a locked door with the first blow. 15G - When you come to a door you have to ram into, you will get a little game to try and knock it down by using the Right Control stick. You have to hold the Right stick down and push up on it to hit the door. You are trying to get the bouncing line dead center to open it in one shot. There is a door in the prologue you can keep trying on by reloading the checkpoint if you don't get it the first time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq-ZkX_X37c&feature=player_embedded AI. Busy, busy, busy - Finish 75 quests cumulatively. 60G - You will get this over time if you are completing side quests and playing the game over and over. AJ. Learning the ropes - Reach level 10. 10G - See School of Hard Knocks. AK. Dedicated student - Reach level 25. 25G - See School of Hard Knocks. AL. School of hard knocks - Reach level 50. 30G - You will be around your mid 30's once you complete the game once and that is doing everything you can. You can join other people's games and build on your experience. Certain skills allow bonus XP so if you want this faster, be sure to grab those skills. Either way this is gonna be a little grind. Secret Achievements ------------------- AM. Everybody lies - Use a large medkit to heal an injury of 5% or less. 20G - Large medkits are very rare to find, pity you have to waste it on this. You will get one at the start of chapter 18. Once you have one, dunk your head under water for a second or just tap fire and then heal youself with it. AN. Ah! Spoiled meat! - Kill a Butcher using an axe. 10G - Butchers are the zombies with there hands replaces with bones. Just take it out with an axe. http://deadisland.wikia.com/wiki/Butcher AO. Oh, no you don't - Kill a Ram using tackle skill. 10G - Sam B uses the tackle attack. What you want to do is dodge the Ram when he charges you and then kick/hit him in the back to get him low on health and then activate Sam B's tackle skill. http://deadisland.wikia.com/wiki/Ram AP. Savior - Save 5 people besieged by zombies. 20G - This is really random. You will see people getting attacked by zombies and have to save them. They randomly appear around the map while doing side quests. Most are rescue missions. AQ. How many days exactly? - Play Dead Island at least 28 days after starting it for the first time. 10G - You can either play every day for 28 days after first playing it or if you want to go through the hassle. You can play offline and change your systems clock 28 times and load up the game. AR. First! - Kill a Suicider with a grenade. 15G - Suiciders are the zombies that explode when you get close to them.
