1.0 INTRODUCTION
________________
After looking for some of this information for myself and not being able to
find it, I thought I would pull together a guide of the locations of all the
Archvillains that are available to fight in City of Heroes. You won't have
to fight all of these Archvillains if you don't want to, but since I think
it's a bit of a comic book tradition to fight all the big bads, it's nice
to know how to track them down. I'm also focusing on only the Archvillains,
since Giant Monsters are more than covered in other guides because they give
badges. Since most Archvillains don't give badges, players have generally
been less inclined to fight them (unless they have to in order to complete
a mission).

This guide is based off TheSpeedingSkull's AV Guide V1.0 that can be found
at the following address:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Number=2445277&fpart=1#2445277

It was a large source of info for a number of Archvillains (or AVs), but
I've looked to clean up and standardise the format as well as include more
data as I move forward. Two other sources I used were the relevant villains
pages on:

http://coh.warcry.com
http://cityofheroes.gameamp.com/

which provided me with more information.

*UPDATE: After the release of v0.5 of this guide, I was pointed to Red
Tomax's Guide to CoH at the following location:

http://www.nofuture.org.uk/coh/

which has a lot of mission info on AVs that I've used for this guide.

1.1 FAIR USE AND EMAIL POLICY
_____________________________
As collator and creator of this guide, I have no problems with its use and
distribution provided that 1) it is distributed in an unaltered state and 2)
that access to it is free (ie you do not need to pay an access fee of any type
to purchase use of this guide). If you wish to alter this guide and / or
charge for it's use, permission must first be sought from the creator
(ie me ;-).

If you wish to email me, PLEASE put something in the subject line about City
of Heroes. I tend to delete emails with no subject line on the grounds that
it is spam. Also, all submissions will be credited to their contributors, so
if you send me info that gets included in this guide you will have your name
credited in the guide, along with some general recognition of the type of
information you provided. Please include a name (any name or nic) for me to
use as I dislike putting contributor email addresses in guides.

1.2 WHO WROTE THIS GUIDE?
_________________________
I received a query about copyright and which permissions I have received
regarding the collation of this guide, so I thought I'd address a few
points. This guide was compiled purely because I couldn't see another
single source of AV information in existance, despite lots of general AV
information floating about.

1) This guide is a compliation of existing materials regarding AVs in CoH.
I collated all the information together into this one guide and will
update it until such point as I quit CoH or CoH is cancelled. I did not
write 100% of this guide and don't want to appear to be taking credit for
all the information in it, since it is based off the work of other people.
The links seen in Section 1.0: Introduction show the sources of the
information I used in this guide.

2) I have received TheSpeedingSkull's approval for this guide. His original
guide was the basis for this version, so I felt it best to seek his
permission. However, I have changed the layout and content of AV
information in order to improve the utility of this guide.

3) The information I collated from Red Tomax's Guide to COH, CoH Warcry,
and CoH Gameamp is all factual in nature. Where an AV is in a story arc
is factual. An in-game text description of an AV is factual. AV
resistances and vulnerabilities are factual. Factual information can not
be copyrighted.Using factual informatino in a guide does not violate
copyright.

I don't want to appear taking credit where it's not due - Red Tomax's site,
which lists the various story arc missions, task forces and the location of
AVs within them did the hard work and should receive all the kudos. I just
pulled together the facts from that site (and the others listed) about AVs
and included them in this guide.

If anyone notices something I've included in this guide that does violate
copyright, please let me know - taking credit for other's work is not my
intent.

1.3 A NOTE ON ARCHVILLAINS IN MISSIONS
______________________________________
I'm taking this directly from Statesman's* post on the forums:

"If the team size and mission difficulty are ABOVE a certain level, an
Archvillain spawns. Below that, players will face only an Elite Boss. If the
mission is set on the first two levels of difficulty, it takes 4 heroes or
more to spawn an Arch Villain. On the third level, 3 heroes or more. On the
fourth level, 2 heroes. On the highest (Invincible), a solo hero will spawn
an AV. Note this works in BOTH City of Heroes and Villains."

An addendum from Positron*:

"Just to calrify: The Archvillain thing is ONLY for Mission AV's,
Archvillains in Task Forces/Strike Forces and World Spawns will not be
changed.

In City of Villains, Archvillain-class enemies are called "Heroes" and this
change applies to them as well. (With the exception of Strike Forces and
World Spawns of course)."

As such, if you want to be able to fight an AV in a story arc mission, be
sure to take along enough heroes to 'activate' them in the mission. The best
bet is to have a team of at least four and fight them on the Heroic (ie
default) difficulty level, but that choice is up to you.

*For those who don't know, Statesman is CoH/V's lead designer while Positron
is ... well, somebody important at Cryptic Studios.

2.0 THE ARCHVILLAINS BY FACTION
-------------------------------
I've arranged the guide by faction, with all AVs (whether in the game or
not) listed, together with info on them and how to defeat them. If you have
a tip for fighting an AV, please send it in!

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

2.1 THE HELLIONS

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

2.2 THE SKULLS
--------------

Archvillain(s) -

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

2.3 CLOCKWORK
-------------

Archvillain(s) -
Clockwork King

++
AV: Clockwork King

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
The mad Clockwork King imagaines himself the center of a mechanical court.
His powerful mind continually creates more subjects to his insane rule. The
true horror is that his massive steel chassis holds a human brain.

LOCATED: "The Fall of the Clockwork King" Task Force

CONTACT: Synapse in Skyway City - you'll need at least four heroes to start
the TF

HERO LEVEL: 15 - 21

MISSION THAT AV IS IN: Last mission in the TF
"We know those parts you found were delivered to only three locations. I
think we need to check out each of the three warehouses. If we are lucky, this
trail will lead to the big man himself: the Clockwork King!

I'm calling the first warehouse to make sure they know you're coming. Wait!
They say they're under attack right now, and there are innocents in danger.
Get moving!"

DO YOU HAVE TO DEFEAT THE AV TO COMPLETE THE MISSION? Yes

REWARD: Complete the TF; get the TF badge.

TIPS FOR DEFEATING THIS AV:
He's vulnerable to smashing damage, so exploit this weakness if you can.
Watch out for his psychic attacks - most heroes have very low resistance
to psychic damage, so he can really put the hurt on an unwary team.

Also, his physical attacks aren't to be sneezed at, so keep your melee
fighters healed and your squishie team mates protected.

OTHER INFO ON THIS AV:
 - Blue Steel beat the man believed to now be the Clockwork King so badly he
had to be turned into a brain in a jar. Ouch!
++

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

2.4 VAHZILOK
------------

Archvillain(s) -
Dr Vahzilok

++
AV: Dr Vahzilok

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
The insane leader of the Vahzilok comes across more like a religious zealot
than and arch-fiend. Dr. Vahzilok continually proclaims his intention of
overcoming death itself. In his twisted mind, the horrid reanimated corpses
he creates are only stepping stones toward greater medical miracles.

LOCATED: "The Vahzilok Plague" Story Arc

CONTACT: Ann-Marie Engles (Skyway City), Juliana Nehring (Skyway City),
Olivia Chung (Steel Canyon) or Pavel Garnier (Skyway City)

HERO LEVEL: 15 - 20

FIRST STORY ARC MISSION TEXT:
"Look, the city council wants to keep this quiet. There's been a rash of
mysterious illnesses in the past few days, and a few cases have already
proved fatal. We're not sure that this disease is, but it's quite virulent.
If something isn't done soon, we'll be living in a ghost town. We do have
good evidence that the illness is connected to the Vahzilok zombies. I need
you to take this scanning device and use it on any Vahzilok you see. We need
all the data we can get."

MISSION THAT AV IS IN: The one after the "Defeat Patient Zero" mission,
which is also the last mission of the TF:
"Now that Dr. Vahzilok has a sample of the antidote, it's only a matter of
time before he can modify his virus and undo our work. However, I've
analysed all the data, and I think I have a very viable candidate for the
ground zero of this entire outbreak. I'd like you to go down to the sewers
and incinerate very body you find. If you can manage this, [Hero Name],
you'll put and end to Vahzilok's evil plague forever!

You must be careful, [Hero Name]. Dr. Vahzilok himself knows about your
involvement, and may try to stop you. You'll have to judge for yourself
if you'll be strong enough to fight him, or if destroying the bodies is
the better answer. Maybe we can put an end to this whole thing here and
now, before the rest of the city gets infected."

DO YOU HAVE TO DEFEAT THE AV TO COMPLETE THE MISSION? No... although if you
can't get to access to a glowie because of him, you will need to draw him
off at the very least.

REWARD: Only the standard XP and influence.

TIPS FOR DEFEATING THIS AV:
Dr Vahzilok has some decent ranged attacks, so don't think you can avoid
damage simply by staying at a distance.

OTHER INFO ON THIS AV:
 - That body of his is actually a battlesuit made of sewn-together body
parts; Dr Vahzilok is actually a smallish man.

2.5 OUTCASTS
------------

Archvillain(s) -
None

*SPECIAL NOTE: Frostfire is the founder of the Outcasts and can be beaten
as part of the Hollows missions, but isn't ranked as an AV in CoH.

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+

2.6 CIRCLE OF THORNS
--------------------

Archvillain(s) -
Baphomet
Envoy of Shadows

++
AV: Baphomet

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
The Baphomet is the oldest and most feared of the Behemoth Lords. The ground
beneath it's cloven feat burns with its own infernal fire.

LOCATED: "Stop the Rikti transdimensional expedition" mission / "The Saga of
Lanaru" Story Arc

CONTACT: Angus McQueen (Peregrine Island) / Faathim the Kind (The Chantry)

HERO LEVEL: 45 - 50

MISSION THAT AV IS IN:

1) For the "Stop the Rikti transdimensional expedition" mission:
"Portal Corporation scientists have traced a Rikti Portal transition to a
nearby alternate Earth. This particular case could be extrremely dangerous.
The world has been classified as a prohibited dimension. Our probe teams
discovered that the Circle of Thorns ananlog of that dimension successfuly
annihilated all human life on the world except a slave sub-class in the year
1968 AD. I have been authorized to ask for your assistance to stop the Rikti
transdimensional expedition before the alternate Circle discovers our Earth.

I will warn you, this world has been classified as extremely hazardous. If you
accept, I recommend that that you take appropraite precautions.

It is unlikley that the Rikti knew about conditions on this world when they
opened a portal to it. This does not change the imperative that the world must
be sealed off from ours at this time. Your main objective will be to disrupt the
portal generation apparatus the Rikti have utilized to access thie world. That
will cut off Rikti access to that dimension, or at least disrupt any possible
corridors from there to the Rikti home Earth. If those devices have been
hidden too well, you can also concentrate on hunting down all Rikti operatives
present at their transfer site on that world, as well as any hostile local
residents they have come in contact with."

2) For the "The Saga of Lanaru" Story Arc:
"Two of the Keys to the Storm Palace are now on your world. They must be found
and recovered before they can be used. The Malta group has already extracted
the key, though I do not know how they would accomplish this thing.

The Key of Madness is still hidden from me. I have sent messages to mystics of
your world through dreams. Seek out Azuria once you have recovered the Key of
Destruction. She may have learned the location of the last key by then.

The danger is great. The Minds of the Malta Group are clouded with their
desire for power and control. I fear that something is using them to it's
own advantage, and could wreck havoc upon us all."

NB: You'll have to do a number of sub-missions before you'll be given the
objective to defeat Baphomet

DO YOU HAVE TO DEFEAT THE AV TO COMPLETE THE MISSION? No / Yes

REWARD: "Demon Slayer" badge if you beat Baphomet

AV: Envoy of Shadows

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
Unbound and unamed, it has crossed the gulf of worlds on a bridge of greed
and pain. The Envoy of Shadow is a ambassador of the Prince of Demons, here
to offer the Circle of Thorns great power and dark alliances. Its consuming
flames and cloak of darkness are manifestations of it's endless evil.

LOCATED: "The Envoy of Shadows" Story Arc

CONTACT: Cadao Kestrel (Founders' Falls)

HERO LEVEL: 35-40

FIRST STORY ARC MISSION TEXT:
"There have been rumors that the Warrior leader King Thunder stole a book
of magic rituals from the Circle of Thorns. According to the rumor, the
Circle had only just acquired the book themselves, and were looking to get
it back. That rumor just might match with a recent disturbance in Kings Row.
The Warriors have been planning on some big rite to get, and there's word of
Circle mystics watching those preparations closely. If this book is as powerful
as rumors say it is, the Warriors are in way over their heads. I suspect this
may all be part of a Circle plot of some kind. Could you investigate the Ritual
and try to recover the book? Stay alert on this mission. I have a feeling
that this is the start of something much larger."

MISSION THAT AV IS IN: Envoy of Shadows appears in three missions within this
story arc

1) "I've had a chance to talk to Akarist about the Demon the Circle of Thorns
have summoned. He calls it the Envoy of Shadow, and says that it's an emissary
of the Demon Prince the Oranbegans dealt with before. He thinks that the thing
will demand a human sacrificce as part of whatever bargain it's making, and
probably a large one. Will you help stop the sacrifice to the Envoy of Shadow?

Akarist says that there's a chance the Envoy itself may be there to accept the
sacrifices, so it would probably be a good diea to gather allies for this
mission.

Akarist has pointed us towards where the ceremony will most likely take place,
and it coincides with something else. I've just gotten word that 13 police
officers haven't shown up for work today, but that one of them got a call out
on his radio that she was taken underground by Circle Sorcerers. Your main goal
will be to find and rescue all of the kidnapped police and disrupt any
sacrificial ceremony. Also, look for any evidence of what sort of deal the
Envoy may be here to make. If the Envoy itself is there, Akarist warned that
defeating it won't be enough to destroy it, but might give you an idea of how to
fight it. Use your own discretion on that.

Akarist also sent this for you. It's something he's written about Demons and
the sacrifices they demand. It might provide you with an insight to the Envoy of
Shadow and what it's after."

2) "All of your work to stop the Envoy of Shadow and the Circle from makinga
deal is paying off, but there has been a repercussion. The Envoy is preparing
to accelerate the deal and is going to make a ceremonial gift of new Thorn
Blades to the Circle of Thorns. I'd like you to disrupt this exchange, and
take those Thorn Blades.

The Envoy itself is likely to be there, and defeatinghim will be necessary to
break his ability to sense and retrieve the Thorn Blades. It might be a good
dea to have allies with you for that reason, if you haven't already gathered
some.

You'll have three things to do in this. First, you must get the Thorn Blades.
Second, you need to defeat the Envoy of Shadow. You won't be able to stop him
permanently, but the time it takes him to re-form himself will give us enough
time to secure the Thorn Blades so they're invisible to him. Third, Akarist
says that its very likely that the Circle will be trying to find some
leverage on the Envoy. So, keep an eye out for what the Circle is up to.

Akarist has another message for you, this one about the Thorn Blades themselves
and their importance in a deal with the Demon Prince."

3) "The research is complete. We have the Envoy of Shadow's True Name. If
you're ready, it's time to end the Circle's negotiations. It won't be easy,
you'll be facing the Envoy of Shadow again as well as the representatives from
the Circle of Thorns. If you're ready, I have all that you'll need to send
the Envoy of Shadow back to Hell. I'll call for an emergency force field to
give you time to get there. I'm counting on you to end this, once and for all.

You'll need to defeat the Envoy of Shadow and all of the Circle who are
consorting with him to bring this to an end. I know you can do it. You've
beaten him before. You can do it again.

I have these to give you from Akarist and the MAGI mystics. The True Name of
the Envoy of Shadow, and the knowledge of how to use it. Good luck."

DO YOU HAVE TO DEFEAT THE AV TO COMPLETE THE MISSION? No / Yes / Yes

REWARD:

TIPS FOR DEFEATING THIS AV:
Tanking Envoy isn't too difficult as most of the damage is done in well
resisted damage types. Try to get him turned away from your teammates to
ensure his cone attack hits only the tanker. His use of Healing Flames can
be a bit obnoxious so bring enough fire power to overcome his increased
regeneration rate. The auto-hit aura can be problematic for those that
need to be close and have little resistance. We had a Fire controller
along who's fire imps couldn't touch the Envoy because the aura would
dispatch them so quickly. (written by Cleat)

LOCATED: "The Eternal Nemesis" Story Arc / "The Nictus Insurrection" Story
Arc (Kheldians only)

CONTACT: Maxwell Christopher (Founders' Falls) / Sunstorm

HERO LEVEL: 40 - 45 / 40 - 45

FIRST STORY ARC MISSION TEXT:

- "The Eternal Nemesis" Story Arc

"I keep finding interesting new things in the files you found detailing
Nemesis' hidden business dealings and front companies. We can't move on
all of it right away or else Nemesis will figure out where we got the
information, but it can help to start an investigation. This time, it's
helped on a big one. I don't know if you're familiar with Tyrone Lockhart
and his company, Lockhart Aerotech, but he's been under investigation for a
while for aiding the Sky Raiders, so he's a pretty bad guy. Here's where it
gets good: it turns out that Lockhart Aerotech has connections with more
than just the Sky Raiders. According to the records you recovered, Lockhart
has had a long-running relationship with Nemesis. They've done manufacturing
and prototyping for Nemesis for years, even before the business with the Sky
Raiders. If we can find solid evidence of the connection between Lockhart and
Nemesis, that'll take the case against Tyrone and the battle against Nemesis
off in a whole new direction. I'll warn you though. This is going to be
difficult, and it's probably only the start of something much larger."

 - "The Nictus Insurrection" Story Arc

"Our people watching the Council tell us that there has been a frenzy of
activity, and even open conflict. Now that the Center has learned of their
treachery, Arakhn and Requiem have stepped up their plans. I fear that they
may have begin their bid for control of the Council. If they win, humanity
will lose. We have to know if the Nictus have started their insurrection,
or if we still have some time. The only way to know for sure will be to
infiltrate a Council communications base, and see what they're saying
internally.

If Arakhn has begun to make her play for power, we have to know. We can't let
her win, even if that means helping the Center to keep control. The Center
is a threat to freedom here on Earth, but Nictus are a threat to all
life in the galaxy."

MISSION THAT AV IS IN:

- "The Eternal Nemesis" Story Arc

"At the conclusion of his battle against the 5th Column, Nemesis managed
to capture Nosferatu, the mad doctor responsible for the 5th Column's
Ubermen and vampyri. He used us, he used the 5th Column, and now he plans
to use Nosferatu. What Nemesis wants him for is still a mystery, but I
think it may have something to do with Nemesis' early kidnapping of the
immortal Bentley Berkeley and all of the weapons testing and data
gathering the Nemesis Army has been doing.

However, one thing I know is that I have no intention of letting Nemesis
get away with any of this. Thanks to the documents you found a while back
and Lockhart's files, I have a pretty good idea of where Nemesis might
be holding his latest prisoner. I want you to go in there and capture
Nosferatu.

Hunting down one wanted criminal and fighting another at the same time
feels good again. No helping one bad guy to offset another, just doing
the right thing from the start.

I'm betting that Nemesis is using Nosferatu to work on something
related to biology, probably involving artificial life extension.
Any information Nemesis might get on that could cause a lot of trouble,
so you'll need to catch Nosferatu and anyone he may be directly working
with."

 - "The Nictus Insurrection" Story Arc

"We found out why Nosferatu didn't change sides after you planted the evidence
of the plot against him. He already knew about the plot. We received this:

[Hero Name]

I thank you for your concern, but to tell the truth, I am somewhat interested
in becoming a Nictus. Unlike Vandal, I do not see that as a kind of death,
but as an interesting new state of being.

However, I am not locked into the idea. I would like to see just how good you
Kheldians really are. Also, I could use a fight to test the limits of the work
I've done on my own body. So, let us arrange a simple test: If you can
defeat me and allow me to remain free, I will change sides in this struggle
and assist the Center. Until you do, I shall support Requiem, and by
extension Arakhn and the Nictus. I have enclosed a location I can be found at.

Bring allies.

You will need them.

-Nosferatu

If we want to stop the Nictus insurrection, you're going to have to defeat
an Arch-villain. Can you handle it?

Nosferatu is the first of the Vampyri, and is still the strongest. He's used
all of his experimental techniques on himself first. On top of that, he has
over half a century of experience and cunning on his side. Bring all the
allies you can, he won't give any quarter."

DO YOU HAVE TO DEFEAT THE AV TO COMPLETE THE MISSION? Yes / Yes

REWARD:

TIPS FOR DEFEATING THIS AV:
Nosferatu can heal himself very quickly, so you'll need to bring some
heroes who can do a lot of damage. He's also got an auto-hit aura power,
so try to minimize the number of heroes who get close to him (or be
prepared to heal them).

HERO LEVEL: 20 - 25

MISSION THAT AV IS IN: In Long Jack's last mission:
"Thanks to Dr. Goldsmith, we now have the location of one of the Council's
big wigs, Maestro. I don't think I need to tell you what happens next. Go
to Maestro's lair, find him, and defeat him.

I also heard that he has some of the Center's special guard, the Ascendants,
guarding his lair. That'll make him one tough nut to crack. I'd recommend
bringing a crackerjack team.

I hear Maestro's a deaf man who'll stop at nothing to regain what he's lost.
Unethical experimentation, dark magic, you name it. He's one twisted human
being."

DO YOU HAVE TO DEFEAT THE AV TO COMPLETE THE MISSION? Yes

REWARD: Only experience points and influence

TIPS FOR DEFEATING THIS AV:
Maestro uses sonic attacks which can drop your hero's damage resistance,
increasing the damage he does to you. Try to drop him quickly to avoid
a tough fight.

AV: Archon Burkholder

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
Archon Burkholder is a relic from another villainous group that was recently
subsumed by the Council. Nevertheless, he seems to have made a place for
himself in the new regime. His obsession with robotics led him to carve off
his own arm and replace it with one of steel; it also led him to create this

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
The fiend known as Vandal was once a humble tinkerer named Othman Doul.
In the late 1930's, the villain Requiem recognized Doul's usefulness and
recruited him to the nascent 5th Column. Othman was happy to oblige, since
it meant he could indulge his scientific curiosity without restraint. Over

Now, he seeks to advance his own position within the Council and perhaps
even challenge Requiem for supremacy.

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
Ridolfo Uzzano has come a long way from his humble beginning as one of
Mussolini's lapdogs. The primary cause of his success was his fusion
with a Nictus, a being of utter darkness. The Nictus gave Ridolfo the
ability to scorch his foes with an infernal fire. Though he is now over
100 years old, Requiem remains a fearsome foe in battle. Before the Center
arrived to spoil his fun, Requiem ruled over the massive military
organization that was subsumed by the Council. His closest attendents
suspect that Requiem is still smarting from his loss of power, and
plotting his revenge.

FIRST STORY ARC MISSION TEXT:
"Lillina Issan will be the new Shadowstar one day, if she can keep herself
from being killed. In the aftermath of the Nictus insurrection within the
Council, Arakhn and Requiem have gone into hiding, and Lilian has taken it
upon herself to find them. Not the wisest course at any time, but
absolutely foolish right now. She's dropped out of contact after she said
she was going to investigate an old base that had been cleaned out weeks ago.
I fear that Lillian has gotten herself into more trouble than she
anticipated, and needs to be found.

Since Lillian will assume the role of Shadowstar one day, she takes it upon
herself to go beyond her job as a reported and dig into the plans of our
enemies. it probably makes her feel like she's doing her part, I just wish
she'd use more caution. you must find Lillian and bring her back safely.
Also, look for any clues that might help her investigation. She puts herself
in too much danger, but we do need to know what the Nictus are up to.

MISSION THAT AV IS IN:
"We've found where the Nictus are setting up a major Shadow Cyst, based on
the inforation you found last time. 4 seeds, deep under the city. It gets
worse, though. We think that Requiem himself is there, protecting them. In
order to stop the Nictus, you will have to destroy those seeds and then
battle Requiem himself.

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
Very little is known about the mysterious figure known as Arakhn.
She is a deadly assassin and is the last thing seen by many enemies of
the Council. what most of the council is unaware of is that Arakhn's
powers resulted from the fusion of her human body with a Nictus life form.
She is on the front lines of a war with the Kheldians, ancient enemy of the
Nictus.

LOCATED: "The Kheldian War" Task Force

CONTACT: Moonfire (Striga Isle)

HERO LEVEL: 23 - 28

MISSION THAT AV IS IN: The 10th and final mission
"I want to bring the Kheldian War to a close once and for all, and to do
that, I must end the Nictus threat. I intend to use Arakhn's plan against
her, and lay a trap for her Nictus brethren. I want you to seek out Arakhn's
stronghold. Then you must defeat her, while I gather the forces of the
Kheldian Peacebrigners. My bodiless brothers will go to her intended victims,
and ask premission to protect them from the Nictus. And then they will wait.

When you defeat Arakhn, I have no doubt her loyal minions will put her plan
into effect, sending the Nictus into their intended hosts. But each Nictus
will be surprised by a Kheldian lying in wait, within the very body they had
planned to assume. There we will defeat them , once and for all.

I know this sounds dangerous, but it is the only way. If we do not stop the
Nictus once and for all, Arakhn may develop an even more twisted plot. And
that plot might succeed."

Nemesis' hidden business dealings and front companies. We can't move on

information, but it can help to start an investigation.

MISSION THAT AV IS IN:
"I was able to put it together, [Hero Name]. I know where Nemesis had the
artificial brain sent. I think Nemesis himself is probably still there. This

ruined nations, and held the whole world in terror for 180 years. He should
be there for a while, probably recuperating from whatever strange thing
he's done to himself, so you have a little time. When you have the people

The goal is simple. Defeat Nemesis and all the men and machines

"All right, [Hero Name], I have an operation that I'm going to need your help with,

it, I need your help to investigate what exactly the Malta Group and the
Nemesis Army have to talk about.

I don't know if you're aware of the current state of the Nemesis Army, but
they've taken a pretty bad blow. It looks like Nemesis is finally dead and
gone, and most people expected them to just break up and go back to whatever
life they led before. That hasn't been the case. They still perform
operations and do missions and get orders, but no one really knows if
those orders are coming from the Nemesis Army leadsership and they've
assumed command, or if they're coming from a usurper who's taken over
as a new Nemesis, or from Nemesis himself.

Whatever the case is, despite those orders, some Nemesis Army troops are
getting worried by these turns of events, and have been talking with

DESCRIPTION TEXT:
The mammoth Kronos class Titans are the pinnacle of the Titan project.
Fortunately they are prohibitively expensive to manufacture. If the Malta
Group can find a cost effective way of manufacturing these monsters, their
terror will be felt around the globe.

LOCATED: "Project: World Wide Red" Story Arc (45 - 50)

HERO LEVEL: 45 - 50

FIRST STORY ARC MISSION TEXT:
"I've become aware of a complex situation, [Hero Name], one that bears further
investigation from our combined resources. I'll tell you up front that I'll
give you more detail on this one, because I got a feeling this is going to
be part of something very large and very dangerous. So, if you think you can
handle it, then I'd like to get your assistance to find out why a Chinese
ambassador would have a Malta Group gungslinger as his bodyguard.

Okay, [Hero Name], let me set up the situation for you: The Chinese ambassador
to the U.S., a businessman and politician by the name Zheng Xiaoxuan, is
visiting our fair city during some political talks with the American
ambassador, anti-terrorism stuff. Naturally, this being Paragon City, the
Freakshow decided to take the opportunity to try and grab both ambassadors
and their entourages as part of some half-baked plan. Normally I wouldn't
bother with someone like this, but when a group of heroes went in to rescue
the Ambassadors, they encountered something that caught heroes arrived.
From the description those heroes sent back, it sounded like the Freaks
had encountered a Malta gungslinger who was protecting the Chinese
ambassador. The Freaks overcame him by numbers, and they managed to hold
off those heroes and get away with the Chinese ambassador and one American,
a CIA spook who was there to brief the U.S. ambassador. What I want you to
do is get the ambassador and any other captives the Freaks have out, and
try to find out what Malta's interest in them is."

MISSION THAT AV IS IN:
[Hero Name], it's time to deal with Jack Firenze, aka Director 17 of the
Malta Group. This won't be easy, and we know that he has another Kronos
class Titan under his command. If he activates it, there might not be
much time before it can cause a lot of damage. Gather your resources and
block out some time. When you give me the go-ahead, it's on.

Okay, [Hero Name], here's how this is gonna go down:

I just had Indigo send all of the evidence she and I have gathered about
Jack Firenze's true associations to the right people. A whole lot of the
right people. A catch in an emergency debriefing, trying to figure out
who was responsible for letting Langley get away. He'll know in a few
minutes that not only has his cover been exposed, so has the entire
World Wide Red operation and the existence of the Malta Group. Firenze's
going to lock himself down and await extraction. Too bad for him,
extraction ain't coming. Or rather, it will, but Indigo's re-routed
them to the wrong building.

I tell you [Hero Name], I love that girl like a daughter.

That's where you come in. Firenze's going to sit tight waiting for an
extraction that won't be coming. I want you to hit him while he's
waiting.

Firenze's going to be well protected by some of the baddest things that
Malta can muster. I don't care. I want him caught. I want all of his
bodyguards caught. I want the other directors of the Malta Group to
know not only that they are not untouchable, but that they can be
caught and brought up for their crimes.

I know you understand me. I leave it up to you to make sure they
understand even better."

"Guess what, [Hero Name]! Anti-Matter and Neuron come from the same world!
It seemed like they knew each other, so I had the technicians take another

We're sending you to a remote corner of Upsilon Beta 9-6 to plant a

By the way, the techs have come up with a new name for Upsilon Beta 9-6.
We're calling it 'Praetorian Earth'.

they're all dead! We've stopped receiving any signals from the scanners

the Praetorians eliminated the scanners because they're about to begin
work on something they don't want us to observe. Plans for an invasion,
perhaps? I wouldn't be surprised. I need you to go back to

"I'm sure you're aware of the great threat that Praetorian Earth poses
to our dimension [Hero Name]. Portal Corporation has been doing everything
it can to combat that threat. Through the efforts of our hero liasons,
several of the Pratorians were incarcerated; however an extradimensional
event at the Zip recently freed the lot of them. That fact makes me all

The scanners' primary purpose was to keep us appraised of the Pratorians'

valuable information on troop movements, technological advances, and shifts
of power within the Praetorian world itself. One of the scanners stopped
transmitting just this morning. I need you to get to Pratorian Earth and

You remember how the Praetorians weren't able to use their own tech to

physically so similar to Tyrant that his presence in the Praetorian

4.0 FINAL NOTES
---------------
If you've got any suggestions about how to take out the AVs, please send
them in.

4.1 THANKS
----------
To TheSpeedingSkull for getting his AV Guide together - I'm only doing this
guide because it seemed the best way to bring the info together.

Also thanks to CoH Warcry and CoH Gameamp for their villain sections.

Thanks to Red Tomax for the huge amount of info he's got on his site:

Thanks to my wife, now pregnant with Boy #2 and feeling sick all the time!

4.2 CONTRIBUTORS
----------------
v0.6 - Lots of AV mission info taken from Red Tomax's CoH site.

v0.5 - Info taken from a number of sources (TheSpeedingSkull's guide, CoH
Warcry, CoH Gameamp) and rearranged into something easier to read.

4.3 VERSION NOTES
-----------------
v0.7 - Added in the ARCHVILLAINS BY SECURITY LEVEL section and WHO WROTE
THIS GUIDE? secion.

v0.6 - Increased the amount of available information about the location of
AVs based off Red Tomax's CoH site.
