Requires the editing of a game file, backup before changing in case of problems..

Navigate to .VesselDataSave Games

Open the latest saved game file in notepad or notepad++, (ex.1_1.sav)

Find

ListItem Index="0">

Param Name="Blueprint" Type="Ammo Chamber Blueprint Reference" ReferenceTarget="Ammo Chamber - Water" />

Param Name="Ammo Count" Type="Int" Value="1667" />

Param Name="Decal Drops" Type="Chamber Contained Decal Drop List" Count="0" />

Param Name="Max Ammo Count" Type="Int" Value="6000" />

Change the ammo count and max ammo count to desiredOnumbers (do not exceed 6000 or the water bar will extend beyond the screen) (there will also bee an Ammo Chamber - Protoplasm under the water one, depending on how far you are in the game (if you got the Protoplasm chamber)

If the stretched water tank gui element is too ugly, you can edit it by opening .VesselDataTexturesVesselGUIGUIFluidTank Tex.dds in paint.net or photoshop (whichever you use) (backup the file incase you want to restore it later)

I personally just have mine as full transparent so my water tank gui element is just the blue bar that gets longer when you have more water.
