Why are the leopards so unhappy?

Why are the leopards so unhappy?

Everytime I play my game and I put leopards in, they are unhappy! Why is this? Their exhibit suitability is above 85 in ALL cases, and they have everything they need (shelter, foilage, terrain, mates, etc.) I am on a scenario right now where it's all cats and my guests stopped coming to the zoo because my leopards are all so mad. What do I do?? Is this a glitch in the game?

Suitability isn't always the same as happiness. Click on them. Then select the zoo experts button. If it says this exhibit is well suited, there is no problem. Also when you place something in their exhibit smilie or frownie faces appear. Get rid of everything that gives frowns to the cats.

Okay I had the same problem with my snow leopards ...i gave them everything and they just were not happy....then I started funding conservation and research stuff so I could get more animal shelters and tada! I unlocked the snow cave and put it in my snow leapords exhibit and they are as happy as two peas in a pod! To do research and conservations funding click the button above the save button...the button that looks like a chemistry beaker thingie and then press fund whatever amount of $ you can a day

Thank you!

You need the Cat Climbing Tree. Go to reasearch and developement, un-check all but Animal Enrichment. Start funding, you should get the Tree after a few minutes.

The snowy rock cave totally worked for me, thank you!!!! This was for my Snow Leopards by the way.
Guest answered:

The same thing happened to me. So what I did was give them everything they wanted. Then if they were unhappy I'd sell them and get new ones in the same exhibit as the old one. So they were happy in the beging. This seems like a lot of work but it attracts a lot of people.Smile You also get a lot of donations to the exhibit!

If your still having troubles the snow leopards and leopards like privacy so if you can section of a part of their exhibt where no-one can see them prefferably use the High concrete one all around then they should be very happy, same for the leopards your guests are ging to complain that much, the most problem I have with the snow leopards is my Suitabilty it is stuck on 83

Guest answered:

If the exhibit for your snow leopards is under 85, you may have the wrong type of rock. Highland rocks are the ones you need. Snow leopards do not need a Cat Climbing Tree.

If it's for any other leopards, make sure all the terrain, trees and rocks are correct. Then, add a Cat Climbing Tree. Their shelter is Rock cave but Snow leopards require a Snowy Rock Cave.

Guest answered:

Also the big cats don't like being crowded restrict the guest viewing area and put hides in aswell

Guest answered:

This all happend to me as well but all I did was I made the area of it's exhibit bigger. Also I added some other highland animals from the same area to make feel happier to hunt.(No one is allowed to see them)

Guest answered:

OK I FOUND SOMETHING THAT TRULY HELPS!!!! So you know how all animals want some kinda rock and it goes quicker with the huge ones? Delete some of the big rocks (which will momentarily give you frowny face) and replace them with a bunch of those little rocks near the bottom of the rock list. I think it's more accurate in rock amount which makes them happier. The idea works with plants too. It really boosted my suitibility!! I had a giant old tree and delted it and only replaced it with two small ones before my lions gave me a frown face. It's more accurate in rock amount. For a lot of them the small increase in suitibility made their grumpyness go away. They are so touchy :P I hope this helps! Granted that your still playing the game in 2013 XD

I have noticed a lot people having difficulty with Leopards - I have some good tips to make a comfortable exhibit for them. Below are some information I've learned over my years of playing the game to make them happy:

1.) Only do certain number of leopards. For example - If you build one exhibit and add sixteen Leopards they will become unhappy because it is considered very crowded. Start with just a pair consisting of one male and one female (This rids the "Black/Clouded Leopard 1 would like to have a mate" requests)

2.) Give them formations, caves & dense forestation. This may sound odd, but it truly does help. Jungle formation rocks (And waterfalls), rock caves (Which are funded by research/conservation) and a lot of trees. For trees I've learned to stick with the animal's preference; Such as putting a lot of ferns and foxtail palm trees for Black Leopards (Their favorite tree) in their exhibit. This raises suitability & happiness ratings.

3.) Research the 'Climbing Tree' in Research/Conservation; these guys love this toy and it brings up their happiness/suitability for exhibits quickly. Just put in two for a pair - Too many toys will make them as unhappy as none at all (Despite the fact they smile when you do it, they actually drop happiness/ratings for their exhibits).

4.) Toy with their exhibit; This may sound confusing but it does help. Use one box (After adding the main terrain needs) and just slowly add things. Little grass here, little water there, etc. And see what happens. Watch the Leopard's reaction, anytime they are happy continue to use it in certain areas. There are may too much of something that the Zookeeper is not telling you. I like to call this technique 'Touching up' since you're basically doing just this. Just 'touch up' the exhibit until the Leopards become unhappy or find their exhibits more comfortable. Even these little changes can make a big boost in their mood.

5.) Continue 'touching up' the exhibit but now with rocks and foliage. Add as many plants (Preferably their preference) to the exhibit as they are showing the green smiley face. When they show the sad/mad red face, take away the last object you added to make them happy. This IS very time consuming and very pricey, but it does greatly help their mood.

I hope this helps you. I have built Leopard exhibits many times and once I learned this I now get 100% suitability and happiness ratings for them, along with winning scenarios with them because they're happy.

By the way, I'm actually playing as I write this, for the leopard, having its exhibit mostly consist of Baobab trees is really helpful for suitability. I got rid of the umbrella thorn trees (all of them), and replaced them with Baobab trees, and my leopard is now happy (I've never been able to get a leopard happy before.) Thanks for your advice on "touching up".

No problem, I'm glad my advice was helpful. This tip can be used with ANY animal. It makes them very happy and you get high suitability ratings. Happy gaming! Smile
Guest answered:

Snow leopards are the biggest babies oh my gosh. I recommend screwing around with the terrain a bunch (slopes and cliffs), and add both types of highland rock and then a bunch of small snow rocks. Also the snowy rock cave helps a lot.

Guest answered:

The baobab tree is the leopard's favourite foliage. You have to unlock it in the research tab. Once unlocked, fill the habitat with the trees until the leopards make a sad face. Basically, put as many baobab trees in as possible.

Guest answered:

I had to add an extra shelter for them to finally be happy. Only had 2 snow leopards, but nothing made them happy until they had two snowy rock caves.
