If it's a battle it depends on your level, his level, how good your spells are, your stradigy, how muck mana and health you and he has, and you mood because when you frustrated or mad it gets harder.

I don't know how to beat Vognir yet. But the bird in Mirkholm Keep is near the teleport stone in the caves with all the gremling-looking things running around. I think when you activate the stone it's color is red and the bird is like behind the stone.
