After you water the field, it will cause flowers to grow which you WILL need later in the game to complete other tasks (it's where you drop the golden child a couple of times)... Just set a few villagers to do the job, and they'll get it done eventually.

It’s been a really long time and the field Doesn’t have flowers yet
Jolly12 answered:

Really any villager can do it, The only real problem is the villagers like to roam wander away after doing it once, so you need to keep an eye on them. It will take two or three days at most. ;)

Guest answered:

I have had the same problem, and no, it doesn't have to be a master builder watering the field. However, builder is better to use (any level) because they keep coming back to watering the field instead of wandering off. You have to water it with water from the lagoon. But just keep them watering it and eventually it will finish

I played this game a couple years ago and found myself really bored one day and downloaded it to play again. It's a nice game to just have in the background

I only came here for an answer... But here’s one for you! It takes forever. Mines still being watered even but as long as your using water from the lagoon it will flower. That probably wasn’t helpful...

You do not need level 3 harvesting to water the field. Drag a builder onto the field and set them down and they’ll start watering it,
Guest answered:

I can't water the field. I have solved the lagoon but I don't have level 3 harvesting. I keep dropping them when they see the dead flowers but still can't. Help me...

That is not correct.

Actually, I figured out you need:
Builder of any level- make the others KEEP watering the field
MASTER scientist- "discovers" the ability to water the field (without him, the villagers won't understand how to do so)

What does that mean

It means you need a master scientist. 🙄
Guest answered:

You have to water the field for around 3 hours. And it is okay if your people stop farming. Just drag them back so they can start again
