If you have the sims deluxe you can use a genie lamp which you have to clean when there are the two options.
Love or money you must pick love when you pick it mabye the person you are a friend to may appear.
If it is at 1.00 in the morning dont bother proposing if it is like 7.00am or some thing thats fine.
Then propose if that doesnt work delete them both and try again.

If you have the sims makin' magic you could make The Big Question spell to get married no questions asked, or cast Get Happy on the person you want to marry, and then propose.
