That sounds like a configuration problem outside of Sims 3. Check your network settings and make sure your network discover is on. If it is not and wont stay on go into services and turn on DNS Client and PNRP Machine Name Publication, and now network discovery will stay on. Last, go into your firewall and add an exception for EA...
