Question for The Sims 2 University

I started installing, and once at 62% of the way through the download, it said "A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file TSData\RES\UI\ui.package from the media. Do you want to try retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation?" I pressed retry, it went to 64% and said the same thing, I retried over and over, and I eventually had to cancel installation because it kept saying that.

Thank you, whoever answers this!

My mate has the same problem. Have a look see on the back of your box and make sure your computer or laptop has the required things on it for the game.

Ok, first, The Sims doesn't like CD Emulation programs (Such as VirtualDrive, CloneCD, and Alcohol 120%) so if you are running ANY of these programs, or similar programs, take 'em off. It's an anti-piracy thing. I had a similar problem, and taking CloneCD off fixed it when I was installing Sims 2 (original, no EP's).

Secondly, check your PC's specs. The Sims 2 is a really demanding game on your CPU and GFX card, so i'd check those. I'd recommend an ATI Radeon 9800 series, or a NVidia GeForce 4 GFX card. If you get one with CrossFire or SLi, that would be even better.

Thirdly, check if the CD or DVD is scratched. Sometimes files go missing, due to scratches. Use a CD repair kit if there is MINOR scratches. If it's got deep scratches in the disc, and you DID NOT damage it, take it to your game shop or wherever you bought the game from with the receipt. Fourth - ly (i'm not sure that's a word), check your system files. I know this sounds a little off, but install files sometimes depend on other files to work. If you've been hacked lately, or have had viruses, try reinstalling windows. ONLY DO THIS AS A LAST RESORT AS WINDOWS XP FORMATS YOUR HARD DRIVE WHEN INSTALLING!!!

Fifthly, take off the sims and reinstall it form scratch. This would be what I would do.
