Hi, I just got a laptop for Christmas. On my family computer, I have Sims 2 Holiday Edition, Sims 2 Nightlife, and Sims 2 Open For Business installed on it. I got Sims 2 Pets for Christmas also. However, I do not have the original Sims 2 Holiday Edition disc. I lent it to someone who apparently lost it. Is there anyway to transfer the Sims 2 files from the family computer to the laptop without using the disc or using crack codes (tried, did not work)
Thanks!

No, there's no way for the average user to do that. An advanced computer user would copy all the game files from Program FilesEA GAMES (The entire EA games folder)AND the Game registry for that game. The registries are what let the computer know that a program is there and where it's located. If you find an advanced user with the time and patience to explain the complicated process (not really complicated just hard to explain to a user of an average or below average computer knowledge level), then you may be able to pull it off. After you get the original installed you'll need the disk to run it UNLESS you install those expansion packs as well and then you'd be fine, the game always uses the last released expansion disk to start the game. It CAN be done, I just hope that you wrote down the serial number for that lost game or you're in bad shape.
