Opening the cheat code box

Hi guys can someone please help me I have just installed all my sims2 games on my new vista laptop, but I now can't open the box to enter in cheat codes it works on my pc but not on my laptop.....HELP??? I am desperate for an answer ASAP

Try pressing control and shift at the same time then press the c button while still holding the two buttons.
