Question for The Sims 2

I just recently built a HUGE house on Sims 2. I put the family (a married couple) in the house. All they do is stand around now. They get this bubble over their head that looks a little like footprints. There are 4 of them; all that dark blue/black. The bubble is a normal bubble. When I try to get them to do things they just "show" me that bubble and refuse to do it. Whats wrong?
