There are two ways:

1. Hit him with enough meteors as they come down
2. Wait until he throws his sword at you and shoot it straight back at him. That kills him instantly. I have had the luck of killing him within 20 seconds of our first head to head that way.

Other than the main way, there is the classic way of just shooting him till he eventually dies.

However, doing this is NOT recommended. It took me about 3 and a half hours using this method, but that time also includes the time when you're not in demon mode.
