How do I get safe open. Tried iron on journal...did not work.

Ok.. You have the journal, and the iron, two other things you need to do, in the room that had the big flag hanging there is a magnifying glass on the shelf that may have been missed(I don't know if the FAQ I have up here has that in it or not,I will check, because I didn't know about it until after I had uploaded it) Also the Iron has to be heated, you need to fill the burner in the lab with fuel, and light it, and put the iron on it. If you don't have the key yet, put the string on the magnet you found in that room, and check the grate by the elevator. Then go put the key in the safe, use the glass on the book in the item list and he should say something about it, then use the heated iron on it while in the journal. If the last line doesn't work then you may have to put the iron on like the glass was used.. In the item list instead. I don't recall which way it goes at the moment..

pease help! i have the code for the safe in the secret room, i have tried all ways, turning right then left then right and it just is Not working. HELP!
