sv_cheats 1 does not work!

sv_cheats 1 does not work!

I'm trying to find a decent cheat for Left For Dead 2 and every site I go on including this one says 'open the developer console and type in sv_cheats 1' but when I do that I just keep getting a message saying:-

Can't use cheats now; please exit to main menu and start your own listen server with "map mapname" so that you could enable cheats.
Server cvar 'sv_cheats' changed to 0 (I copied and pasted)

I am playing single player offline mode on easy on Vista.......does anyone know why this is happening?

When I type in sv_cheats 1 try a cheat any cheat when you try it says sv_cheat 1 munt be enabled

Ok guys what you need to do is type map and if you want to play rooftop type R and roof top should pop up with C6C7 something like that click that and thats how you get cheats

i had the same problem with my game .here's what u do.go to the main menu and open the console and type map mapname. for eg. map c1m2_streets then it will automatically load that level.open your console again type sv_cheats 1 and voila ur cheat codes start working. I tried this and it says "Can't use cheats now; please exit to main menu and start your own listen server with "map mapname" so that you could enable cheats" EVEN ON LISTEN SERVER
