Question for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

When I start-up Chamber on Secrets on my PC get as far as the menu to select "New Game", etc. For some reason I cannot return to an game that has not bee finished. Harry will be standing on a roof top and cannot go anywhere.

Therefore I cannot return to an ongoing game.

Can any tell what has happen and how to possibly fix it.

I am using Windows XP on my Mac, system 10.4.6
