The Orchid is NOT, NOT given for griff feathers, but HARPY feathers. Those are received from the Half giant on the wall of Kalrathia, in exchange for the Ancient Artifact, which you get from prospector in the dessert, in exchange for some elvin water, yatta, yatta. Sub-quest from act two, I think.
