I'm on chapter 6 and I can't find the rope for the well. I have the key but I can't clean it off because I can't find the rope for the well. I need to clean the key to move forward in the game.

Use the abandoned shears lying on the ground (probably near or in front of the well) and use them to take apart the rope ladder to Lyra's tree
House. Now use the rope and bucket to wash off the key and then unlock the back door to the house...
