How do you create socketed armour and boots etc... or can you only buy..

You can only buy them.

You can't get socketed boots and gloves but you can make sockets by taking your armour to act 5 and doing the first quest and getting the guy that sells and repairs stuff and he will socket things for you.

You can make them but I forget how but you have got to use the cube and when you do siege you can get the blacksmith to add one socket

The guy in Act 5 will only socket one thing for you, and it doesnt just add one socketing spot though. It adds however many the item can hold maximum.

Like a sword can hold 6 so he'll put in 6.

You can also give him anything to socket, even set items.

Make sure you socket before you finish the game in that difficulty level because if you save up that socket for a really good item, and if you beat the game, you can't socket anymore.

You can socket an item in act 5 or you can use a special rune and other things to socket a item.

But when can you socket an item you should wait until you find a very very good item.

There is a way to socket items with the cube.

Adding a single socket to a rare item:
3 Perfect Skulls + 1 Stone of Jordan + 1 Rare.

Adding random sockets to normal body armor:
1 Tal Rune + 1 Thul Rune + 1 Perfect Topaz + Normal Body Armor.

Adding random sockets to normal weapon:
1 Ral Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon.

Adding random sockets to normal Helm:
1 Ral Rune + 1 Thul Rune + 1 Perfect Sapphire + Normal Helm.

Adding random sockets to normal shield:
1 Tal Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Ruby + Normal Shield.

Adding 1-2 sockets to magic weapon (Level 25):
3 Chipped Gems + 1 Magic Weapon.
(note: will change the magic on the weapon)

Adding 1-2 sockets to magic weapon (Level 30):
3 Flawless Gems + 1 Magic Weapon.
(note: will change the magic on the weapon)

To remove socket from item:
1 Hel Rune + Scroll of Town Portal.
(only works if the item sockets are all full)
