This only happens to me when a popup appears and puts game on standby and when I go back it turns off sound as a precaution
If it just doesnt work even without the game going into standby mode than don't have a answer for you sorry

Guest answered:

Like he said. It only happens when the game minimizes by itself for some reason. Either a message on I'm or some other pop up. But try restarting your pc and run the game again. The sound should be back. It works for me

Guest answered:

Same thing is going on with mine but I recently had to reinstall all of my drivers

Guest answered:

Yup, I know the problem, but you don't have to restart the PC, nor the game.
Just go to Options, and change the sound volume.
I haven't played the game since a long time, and I don't remember if first you have to mute all (slide to 0 music, voice and effects), apply, return to game, and then re-enter options and restore sound, or if simply moving one of the cursors is enough, but I remember Alt-Tab-ing out of game, returning to game and going to sound options to restore game souns.
