The Javelin Anti-Tank rocket requires two things prior to launch -
The first(and most annoying one) is that the area BEHIND you MUST be clear. If you are standing too close to a wall, car, another person - it will NOT fire. In RL, using a Javelin is a two man operation - one to use the weapon and a second to insure clearance and help with reloads. In CoD4 you do not have that second man, but the sensors are still figured into the weapon's use, and cause problems when too close to things.
Second is you need to have the tank detected completely inside the target box on the Javelin's targeting screen, and you need to HOLD it there even if the tank is moving. This means you may need to move the javelin as the tank moves so you can keep it inside the targeting box.
