Type the codes (without the quotes) at the 'Main' menu to activate the corresponding effect. Click Lex when you are playing in Adventure or Arena mode and the enemies in the Tome of Knowledge to fill up the 'Secrets' section.

Type 'ELITE' at the 'Main' menu or in-game.
When you complete the indicated book in Adventure mode the corresponding feature will become available.
