Open your proto.xml file in your Age of Empires Folder with notepad. Ctrl-F to search, type Straight or Straight Wall. These are the walls that go around your city when you build them, alter these to be indestructible by adding two lines of text. The Firstline anywhere you see the appear just press enter to make a space, and make sure that you tab over enough to line up with the other lines of text. Type invulnerable and on the next line type DoNotDieAtZeroHitpoints. Do the same thing on the search for all of the walls, the number should have Straight Wall 1- till you have them all, just don't close the searhc bar and keep hitting enter when you finish one, so it takes you to the next wall. When done look for the Wall Connector in the search bar, and change that the same way. When you done your walls wont take any dmg, and you can start real fun. Now quickly gather resources, and have your settlers build walls way away from your town centor or city, so you can't be fired at by canons at far distances. Build the wall around your city completely. Now once you do this you can't delete the walls you place. Second you can't use the gate entrance that the wall lets you add, unless you make it indestructible. And canon fire seems to go through the gates so best not to use them at all. If you need to expand out with the wall make one gate on one section of wall, since the gate isnt destructible you can delete it and remake the middle section of your wall. Now expand your wall out as far as possible, around your area tighting the space on your enemies. I like to build double walls at the trade post routes, so no one can cross into them, or get a trade post. This is fun on screens where the trade route cuts you off from your opponent, because now you control if he can come and attack you, and you control how much room he has to send armies to attack you. I like to channel them along the trade route road or in tiny gaps between two walls, so they hve to file in 2x2 or 4x4, this makes it interesting to watch them struggle to even send troops to you. Lastly, if you play the ocmputer, try building a wall around there city before they advanced tot he second or third age, this will limite the space they can build in, and make it impossible for them to reach supreme dominace over you. The exception is the Spanish, and the French, they seem to have towncenters that are always to close to other obsticles that block you from traping them in completely.

First,you must make a factory,when you complete it enter the code "Speed Always Wins",then,use the settlers given to you at the start of the game to build houses untill you reach the maximum population of two-hundred,next,switch your factory from gold to artillary,and when you reach the maximum amount of artillary,enter the code"X marks the spot",last,take your artillary and attack your enemy. p.s.this will only work in Deathmatch.

For this to work, you need to have used the wood, coin, and food cheat. Then build from the range of 10 -15 manors. Then buld some unit making buildings. Then just keep on selecting the type of unit you want and soon you will have a force that will conquer any foe.

Use a text editor to edit the "proto.xml" file in the "data" directory in the game folder.

Note: You may first need to uncheck the "Read Only" attribute of that file's properties in Windows Explorer. Search for the text "CrateOf".

You will find CrateofFood, CrateofCoin, CrateofWood, CrateofFoodLarge, CrafteofCoinLarge, and CrateofWoodLarge. For all these entries, find the tag "InitialResourceCount" and change the count to whatever desired.

For example, the normal crates each have "100.000" of the resources. You can change the "100" to "99999.000", etc.
