characters and such.

==============================================================================
Hello fellow GameFAQ'ers or reader. I am InfinitySlayer and this is my first
guide I've submitted to GameFAQs. I have been a member here for nearly a year,
but never submitted any contributions yet, so I figured this would be a good
time to get started.

The purpose of this guide is to provide you (the reader) with various pieces
of information about the Plume Skill Tactics in this game. What you may and
may NOT do with my guide is listed below:

You may:
- Use this guide as a reference tool.
- Link people to it using various forums, as long as you do not claim it as
  your own.
- Print this out from the computer and keep it as a reference copy.
- Show this guide to other people as long as you claim not credit or try to
  make profit out of it.

You may NOT:
- Copy bits of this guide and say it is your own. This one should be obvious.
- Sell this guide for money.
- Claim credit for this guide.

Only the following sites listed below have permission from me to host this
guide:

If you want to contact me, you can do so by sending and e-mail to my e-mail
address, [email protected]. If you decide to do this, please put, on
the subject, something like "VP: CotP Plume Skills Guide". If you do not do

tell me using e-mail, but be sure to include your "Internet" name so I can

Plume Skills Introduction [/PSI]
==============================================================================
Plume Skills. I'm sure most of you who've played this game a bit will know
what these are. But if you are a new player and don't know, do not fear!
I will post a quick summary in this section of what these "Plume Skills" are.

To "Plume" someone (in this game's term) is to select the "Invoke Ally's
Potential" option with Wylfred, and choosing an appropriate ally that is not a
quest. This will multiply their stats by 10, as well as giving them resistance
to all elements.

What does this have to do with anything? Well, pluming someone will also
activate a powerful skill called a "Plume Tactic/Skill". Most of these skills
are very overpowered, but some aren't as overpowered as others. The duration
of these skills depend on the skill itself. After the battle (when you have
Plumed someone) has ended, the skill will appear in your "Use Tactics" menu in
battle permanently and forever (even during New Game+). Most of these skills
cost 80 AP, but there are some exceptions to this. Also, some Plume Skills are
"weakened" when used by Wylfred.

==============================================================================
Plume Skill Tactics Layout [/PTL]
==============================================================================
K, now this is the section where I show you how I formatted my guide. Each
Plume tactic will be "analyzed" and evaluated with the formatting below:

-------------------------
Tactic Name and [code](arranged by the order you can get them in)
-------------------------
"Mystical text" will be here. They are the text that pops up before you plume
a character. Credits to pokeeiyuu for providing me with the "mystical text"
list.

Sacrifice Required: The character you need to Plume to get this skill will be
listed here.
Effect: The effect will be posted here.
AP Cost: Self-explanatory.
Advice: Advice on how to use the skill "effectively" will be here.
Opinion: How important, and useful, the Plume tactic is will be listed here.
Additional Info: If there are some other important points you should know, it
will be listed here.

Now that that's out of the way, we can finally start the exciting part of the
guide. Let's go onto the ACTUAL part of the guide! :D

==============================================================================
Plume Skill Tactics Guide [/PSG]
==============================================================================
-----------------------------------
Vali's Awakening [/VAW]
-----------------------------------
"Birthed to venge his brother's bane,
But one night old he lay him slain."

Sacrifice Required: Ancel (forced during the story)
Effect: Doubles all of the user's stats, and makes all enemies target the user
for 2 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: This skill can best be used during a boss battle. This will make your
boss battles INSANELY easier. Also, if you are struggling on a battle, this
skill is one of the best ones to use.
Opinion: This skill is just pure awesomeness. Seriously, your stats are
doubled, and all enemies are "provked" towards Wylfred. This can help you slay
bosses and protect your weaker characters from danger. Also, you're forced to
get this skill, so what's not to love?

-----------------------------------
Gleipnir's Bonds [/GLP]
-----------------------------------
"Thin as ribbon, yet stronger than steel,
Fenrir's fate these shackles seal."

Sacrifice Required: Cheripha (recruited during chapter 1)
Effect: Paralyzes all enemies for 3 turns, except the leader.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Again, there isn't much advice on when to use this skill. Best time
is during those annoying "Save <insert character>" missions where time is the
main issue.
Opinion: Only one word can best describe this skill. Broken. This is
considered the BEST Plume skill of all (although some people might say this is
a bit over-rated). Seriously, if you ever need a sacrifice, Cheripha will be
your best choice.

-----------------------------------
Vidar's Hush [/VIH]
-----------------------------------
"No song did he sing, no word did he speak,
All to be heard was the sire-slayer's shriek."

Sacrifice Required: Lockswell (recruited during chapter 1)
Effect: Silences all enemies for 5 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Best used when there's a whole swarm of enemy Sorcerers. This will
completely destroy them and make the battle easier.
Opinion: This skill is so-so at the best, although it does destroy Sorcerers.
This skill can be awesome with battles that have a lot of them, but nearly
useless in battles without.

-----------------------------------
Baldr's Pact [/BLP]
-----------------------------------
"To harm him never all creation had sworn,
The oathbreaker to suffer a goddess's scorn."

Sacrifice Required: Darius (chapter 2, path A)
Effect: Negates all physical damage towards the user and deals that damage x2
to the enemy for 2 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: I have not yet used this skill as of now. If you would like to give
advice for this, e-mail me. I will give you credit for it.
Opinion: This skill can either be very good, or very bad depending on how
you use it. If you use it too early when enemies cannot reach you, it's
useless, and vice-versa.

-----------------------------------
Veigr's Warcry [/VGW]
-----------------------------------
"Down the mountains and o'er the rampart,
Rang a call to bestill any still-beating heart."

Sacrifice Required: Gwendal (chapter 2, path A)
Effect: Adds a random change for all ally's attacks to cause instant-death
to the enemy for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Be careful to NOT attack with 1 character only because if you do end
up causing insta-death and you ran out of attacks, you have just lost out on
a lot of Sin.
Opinion: Some people like this, some people don't. I am one of those that love
this skill. Causing insta-death with attacks can easily help you achieve your
Sin quota. Just remember to attack with multiple characters for the best
effect.

-----------------------------------
Biflindi's Shield [/BFS]
-----------------------------------
"No weapon destroys like a stalwart defense,
It breaks a foe's spirit and shatters his sense."

Sacrifice Required: Heugou (chapter 2, path B)
Effect: Cuts all enemies's ATK in half for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: There isn't really much advice on how to use this skill. Use it when
you're facing a lot of enemy Lancers or Warriors or if you're super-paranoid
about your characters dying.
Opinion: Halving your enemies's ATK for 3 turns might sound good, but to be
honest, it really isn't. There are many ways to stop enemies's ATK, so this
skill is pretty useless, especially if you have the Defiance technique
equipped (which you should most likely have).

-----------------------------------
Ratatosk's Scandal [/RTS]
-----------------------------------
"About the great ash scurries the squirrel,
His rumors reducing warrior to wee girl."

Sacrifice Required: Mirreille (chapter 2, path B)
Effect: Reduces ALL characters' (allies and enemies) HP by 50%. Does not affect
the user and the enemies' leader.
AP Cost: 100
Advice: A good way to use this is when your enemies are very far away. You can
easily cut their HP in half, then just stall around to recover your AP and HP.
Opinion: An average-ish skill in terms of usefulness. It can make collecting
Sin easier, but other than that, this skill is quite useless other than the use
described above (in the "advice").

-----------------------------------
Avalanche of the Jotun [/AOJ]
-----------------------------------
"Atop alpine heights where men dare not fare,
The bellows of giants crack the frosted air."

Sacrifice Required: Mischka (chapter 2, path B)
Effect: Freezes all non-human enemies, except the leader, for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Obviously don't use it if the battle is full of humans. Other than
that, it won't be any harm if you use it right away.
Opinion: This skill can be very useful in battles with a lot of monsters, but
completely useless in battles consisted of fully enemy humans. Most battles
are enemy humans anyways, so if you don't have this skill, don't panic; you
won't get much opportunities to use this anyways.

-----------------------------------
Hoard of the Dvegar [/HOD]
-----------------------------------
"Nothing can set the eyes so agleam,
As the glimmer of gemstones ripe to redeem."

Sacrifice Required: Earnest (chapter 2, path C)
Effect: Increases the amount of gems you get during battle for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: If you are able to setup a lot of sieges, this skill is a must. An
increase of damage is ALWAYS a good thing.
Opinion: An awesome skill if you can setup a lot of sieges. With a Grand Cross
siege, you're pretty much guaranteeed to kill the enemy. More gems will lead
to more damage, and more damage will lead to more Sin. Oh and also, it can
help you obtain your Soul Crush easier. What's not to love?

-----------------------------------
Hervor's Blessing [/HRB]
-----------------------------------
"Neither soldier nor suitor traverses the gate,
Of she wed fast to the shieldmaiden's fate."

Sacrifice Required: Natalia (chapter 2, path C)
Effect: Cuts all enemies's RDM (physical defense) by 50% for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Obviously don't use it if the enemy is very far away and you cannot
reach them within 3 turns. Other than that, you should just use it when you
can make an attack.
Opinion: This skill is completely outclassed by others. Mostly, halving RDM
does nothing besides making counter-attacks stronger because when you initiate
an attack during your phase, you'll most likely attack with 2+ people, so half
defense won't make much a difference. Also, Hod's Smiting can grant criticles,
which IGNORE RDM. Why would you want to halve RDM when you can just ignore it?

-----------------------------------
Hod's Smiting [/HDM]
-----------------------------------
"Sightless he aimed and spiteless he drew,
Innocent of the murder his arrow would do."

Sacrifice Required: Ushio (chapter 3, path A)
Effect: Adds a 100% critical rate to all allies's attacks for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Be careful when you use this. Since all your attacks will be criticals
you might accidently kill an enemy and not get enough Sin. This shouldn't be a
problem if you attack with 2-4 characters at once though.
Opinion: This is a pretty useful Plume skill to have, although you have to be
a bit careful when you use it (as I've said earlier). It isn't a neccessary
skill, but useful nontheless.

-----------------------------------
Kvasir's Mead [/KVM]
-----------------------------------
"They who sip the gods' own spit,
Are seldom wont to want of wit."

Sacrifice Required: Lieselotte (chapter 3, path B)
Effect: Negates all magical damage against all allies's for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Use it when there are a lot of Sorcerers around you, or if the battle
is full of them.
Opinion: This is a pretty bad skill. There are multiple ways of getting rid of
magical damage (Defiance, Magic Mail), so this skill is completely outclassed
by both of them. It's pretty much a waste of 80 AP if you already have those
skills, but I guess if you have a lot of AP to spare, you might as well use
this (although you might want to save it to Dash or something instead).

-----------------------------------
Inspiration of the Alfar [/IAF]
-----------------------------------
"Oft will men forget themselves,
Once they inhale the breath of elves."

Sacrifice Required: Duwain (chapter 3, path C)
Effect: Removes the AP cost of all allies's Tactics for 2 turns.
AP Cost: 100
Advice: Need to Heal or Normalize, but you don't have AP? Need to Dash, but
your AP is low? Then this will solve all your problems. Use it in little
situations like that.
Opinion: Personally, I like this skill but at the same time, I hate it. I like
it because Sorcerers can go on a frenzy now, and you can Dash like crazy. But
I hate it because it only lasts 2 turns, and the fact that it costs 100 AP. Is
it worth it? It's your call.

-----------------------------------
Eir's Blessing [/ERB]
-----------------------------------
"E'er in the keeping of the handmaiden's eyes,
Thrice he was felled and thrice did he rise."

Sacrifice Required: Rosea (chapter 3, path C)
Effect: Recovers 80% of all allies's HP and the start of each Ally Phase for 3
turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Use it when you're hurt and don't have AP for items and/or Sorcerer
spells. It can be godly in some dire situations.
Opinion: This skill is very useful. It easily heals you for most of your HP
for 3 turns and only costs 80 AP. Of course, if you're minorly injured, you
obviously don't use this.

-----------------------------------
Advari's Bequest [/ADB]
-----------------------------------
"The wish-taker's luck shall turn for the worse,
When the welsher wills his wish to a curse."

Sacrifice Required: Fauxnel (chapter 3, path A)
Effect: Curses all enemies. (I am not sure if the leader gets cursed or not.
If you know, then send me an e-mail.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Best time to use this skill (in my opinion) is right at the start of
the battle, but only if you have AP to spare. Cursing an enemy early on is
game-breaking.
Opinion: This skill is broken. It's like a Gleipnir's Bonds, but only that
they are allowed to move. This is actually a good thing because the AI will
still make nearby enemies move towards you. This allows your party to prepare
and also conserve AP while the enemies get closer to you.

-----------------------------------
Hoenir's Arc [/HAC]
-----------------------------------
"A keen-sighted eye and a marksman's hand,
leave no refuge for prey on land."

Sacrifice Required: Valmur (chapter 3, path B)
Effect: Increases all ally's physical attack range by 2 squares for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: You can't really go wrong deciding when to use this skill. Use it
whenever you have spare AP or when enemies are very far away.
Opinion: Another broken and game-breaking skill. It is undoubtedly one of the
best Plume tactics in the game. With this skill, you can basically terrorize
opponents with long-range attacks and not fear of any retaliation (unless if
they are Archers). Warriors and Sorcerers become even more powerful with this
skill activated. This skill is a must-have!

-----------------------------------
Fafnir's Heart [/FAH]
-----------------------------------
"Death itself fears those who feast,
Upon what beats in the bosom of the beast."

Sacrifice Required: Phiona (chapter 3, path B)
Effect: Revives all fallen allies for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: Like Hoenir's Arc, you can't really go wrong with using this skill.
Use it when you have spare AP and watch your characters devastate through
everything.
Opinion: Wow, these chapter 3 tactics are pretty overpowered huh? This skill
is pretty nice because it lets you go reckless on the enemies and not worry
about wasting a character's move reviving a fallen one. Also, it saves
money because you don't have to buy Union Plumes.

-----------------------------------
Angboda's Allure [/ANA]
-----------------------------------
"Many lovers she has, but only one love true,
The writhing of mortals who suffer their due."

Sacrifice Required: Reinhilde (chapter 3, path C)
Effect: Poisons all enemies. (again, I need confirmation whether or not it
works on leaders or not)
AP Cost: 50
Advice: *sighs* Like the rest of the chapter 3 Plume tactics, you can't go
wrong when using this skill. My suggestion is that you use it as early as
possible, if you have AP to spare, of course.
Opinion: Once again, another powerful tactic. Use this as early as possible.
By the time you reach the enemy, their HP would've already been half or less,
depending on the starting distance. Also, the AI will cause enemy Sorcerers to
cast Heal on their poisoned allies if they're HP is low. Use this to your
strategical advantage.

-----------------------------------
Fury of the Aesir [/FOA]
-----------------------------------
"Slaughter and maim without consequence,
In the name of the All-father's providence."

Sacrifice Required: Auguste (chapter 3, path C)
Effect: Negates all physical damage towards your allies for 3 turns.
AP Cost: 80
Advice: This is getting annoying. >_> Anyways... use this skill whenever you
have spare AP. It's a very powerful skill, although some people might say it's
overrated. I am not one of those people.
Opinion: This skill, like the above, is awesomely broken. It will save you
tons of times since negating physical damage is so much win. It will also
give you time to use Heal spells if you have the AP to spare.
