Having spent all my free time (other than playing video games) mastering Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and recently Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks, I have a burning passion for graphic/web design. With this talent I make quick cash around my school and family by designing things such as brochures for teacher conferences and designing website for my uncle's indoor sports center. I am currently preparing for Melbourne University , one of the best Universities in Australia and hoping to have a degree in either Dentistry or Pharmacy, and if all fails I'll be a graphic/web designer instead but hey, I'm confident in my abilities! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <> ASSISTANT PROFILE <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Zack Tuttle is this Ultimate guide's assistant winner. The keyphrase this time is "contribute 3 times in 3 days"! Now, let's get to know him. Let's see... well, he is a gamer as you have probably figured out. He likes going outside and ride his bike around town. He's on a soccer team and he finds it to be pretty fun, apart from the drills of course. He is also an awesome short distance track runner. So far his best on the 100 yard dash is 14.1 sec and the 200 yard is 30.2 sec. (Cool, a sporty type person! I remember struggling in sport lessons when I was in Junior High!) He's also a French Horn player who doen't practice much but still manages to be the best he can be. (Wow, I'm a clarinet player, we're woodwind buddies!... if French Horn's classified as a woodwind instrument, that is.) At school, he's your average student receiving marks like a few 73%s acouple 82%'s and a couple 85%s and like three 90%s and about one 100%. (What was that about! I guess sporty type people aren't good in their studies.) Now, his favourite music... He likes alternative, rock, hard rock, and metal. (o_O I'm more into videogame's original soundtrack T_T am I nerdy or WHAT!) He also enjoys reading. (He enjoys reading! That's cool. University life requires lots of reading...) He has a Wii, DS, and PSP. (Yay, they're my favourite consoles right now, and I do own them. His favourite games for Wii would be brawl (as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl), I LOVE that game! Guitar Hero III and Mario Strikers Charged. For DS his favourite games are Zelda Phantom Hourglass (yeah, if he doesn't like this game then he wouldn't be an assistant here would he.) and Metroid Prime Hunter (HOT!!!). For the PSP he loves Tekken: Dark Ressurection (Nice!), cause he likes beating the *$%^ out of people (O_O). Wait, he has a few subjects he's good at in school! He's good in Science and Maths (Great, that's my subjects!) That's his career aims and he wants to be an engineer. (HUGE ambition! Engineering's hot in Australia right now!) Zack belives that he is worthy of the place of the assistant because he stick to the task and don't give up, unless it's impossible to do. That's cool. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ () 1. Adventure Mode (CH02) ()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()() ~ I - INTRODUCTION ~ (0001) Phantom Hourglass is the sequel to Wind Waker. Link, Tetra the pirate princess and her handsome pirates are at the sea looking for the Phantom Ship that's rumored to be taking ships around. To give you an idea of the characters in this game, here's an description for all the important characters: | | The protagonist. He's on an adventure to find the mysterious Ghost | | Ship and save Tetra, the pirate princess, who was captured by the |__ink | Ghost Ship. ___ | | | The head of a band of pirates. She's actually Princess Zelda! | etra | ___ | | | A mysterious (mmn...mysterious!) old man that helps Link and Ciela |___|shus | on their journey. | ___ | | | The fairy who found Link laying unconscious. She lost all her |___iela | memories and is helping Link on his quest. | | | | Captain of your ship. He's only looking for the Ghost Ship because |__inebeck| he thinks it holds a great treasure. Anyway, Tetra believes the Phantom Ship is nothing but some lame pirates playing tricks so when the ship appears Tetra hops aboard and is sucked into a giant purple wirlpool. Link leaped for her but instead of having her in his arms he fell into the water instead. Who would've thought the mighty Link's hand would slip on him at a time like this? Never Mind, onto the walkthrough. ~ II - BEGINING ~ (0002) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + NEW ITEMS | Oshus's Sword | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Link is washed up a beach. A fluff ball called Ciela wakes you and tells you to go see her grandpa. She turns out to be a fairy, and if you played any other Zeldas you should instantly recognise the figure. Run cross the bridge in front of you and take the path to the right. Turn left at the first turn to find a small house. Once inside run over and tap the only old man you can see who is called Oshus. After talking with him exit the house and follow the path all the way to the right. Yay! That was easy. Zelda usually begins fairly hard... doh! The bridge is snapped in half! Damn! Damn! Damn!!! Talk to the lady next to the bridge and she'll tell you to wait. I waited for 5 minutes and nothing happened. Mmn... It can't be THAT easy :( head back, follow the path until you run into an afro guy and talk to him. He'll ask you to move the rocks for his chicken. Tap any rock and you will pick it up. Tap anywhere on the ground and you will throw it and KABOOM it's smashed into a million pieces. Do not hit the chickens! Animal cruities are not tolerated. Not even in a game. After you break all the rocks (you might find some RUPEES, the game currency, now REMENBER THIS WORD!), the man will tell you to roll into a tree that's at the top right corner of the map. Press down on the d-pad to bring down the Map Screen and circle the highlighted location with your stylus. Go back to Oshus's house and walk to the right. You should see a cave that's blocked up by a barrel. Smash the barrel to clear a path to the cave. Once in the cave keep walking north until you reach a large door. Ciela will tell you that grandpa uses this as a storage. In order to open it you need to write down the number of palm trees in the beach. The answer is 7. Now tap the sign next to the door and write the number 7 with your stylus. Ta Da! The door slowly opens... You will see a big and fancy treasure chest. From now on, whenever you see a big, fancy chest you will know that there's going to be a good treasure in it. Tap the chest and you will recieve Oshus's Sword. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <> BASICS OF SWORDSMANSHIP <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> There's a book right next to the chest that explains how to use the sword. Slash - Tap the object/enemy while near it. Thrust - Put your stylus on Link then quickly swipe it towards an object/enemy. Spin Slash - Draw a circle around Link. At this stage, spin four times in a row and you get dizzy which immobilizes you for 3 seconds! While exiting the cave Oshus will ambush you and take you to his house to give you basic swordsman training on dummies(or targets). After training leave Oshus' house and walk left, jump off the crag, then walk to the north. Hack any slime monsters (those things are called Chu-Chus) you see in this area, or use Spin attack which I found to be the easiest. But be warned, for now, if you spin four times in a row and you get immobilized which is NOT good because you leave yourself wide open for enemies to attack you. In the later stages of the game you will get the Swordsman's Scroll which cancels this effect and replaces it with an ultimate attack. Walk east, then enter the cave here. ~ III - MOUNTAIN PASSAGE ~ (0003) Break the boulders here and you should see a locked door. Obviously you need a key to open it, but where can you find the key? Head right and tap the treasure chest. You will obtain a key. It will show on the top screen. These small golden keys only opens SMALL doors, and can only be used ONCE. Go back to the door, tap it and you will use the key and open the door. In this next area, walk around to find the weird Eyegore Statues, slash them and They will wobble (wobble wobble wobble) and give you clues. Bring down your map and jot what they say down. You SHOULD jot every single clue down, because they show that you have been playing the game properly, not using some game guides! Before you pull the switches to the north walk east, tap the box and select an arrow to push it out of the way to find a chest with a Red Rupee. <><><><><><><><><><><> <> ABOUT DIRECTIONS <> <><><><><><><><><><><> ________________ | North | Since I use North South, East and West a lot in this | NW | NE | guide, you reeely should know your directions. If you | W \|/ E | have truoble with directions PLEASE memorise the table | e----------a | to your right. | s /|\ s | | t SW | SE t | | South | ------------------ Now back to the start and walk North you should see a line of switches. To pull tap it then select the down arrow. Pull it in the following order: | | | | | | | | ___ ___ ___ ___ 2nd 1st 4th 3rd Pull them in the wrong order and Cobras will drop from the ceiling. Ouch. In the right order? A key will drop from the ceiling. Awesome. In this next room is a reeeally annoying puzzle. It took me AGES and AGES to figure it out (probably because I'm not smart ;_;). You see, the key that's needed is taken by a rat and the idea is to kill it to get it, but the rat is 3 times faster than you and it hides in one of the holes. Chasing blindly will not work. Cleverness is the key. Head all the way west and push the box so it blocks the hole to your north then hide in front of the locked door. The rat will come out and you should only come out of hiding when it TOUCHES THE OTHER END. It will reverse it's path THEN you should come out of hiding and Spin Slash it to death then obtain the final key. Use the key on the locked door. Follow the path and you should reach outside. Finally free from that place! Link needs some fresh air ~ You will reach Port Mercay. ~ IV - PORT MERCAY ~ (0004) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + NEW ITEMS | Wooden Shield | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ You have arrived at your first town. Talk to anyone you like, then go in a tent looking building down south which happens to be an Item Shop. You SHOULD have at least 80 Rupees. If not go slash around the grass and kill some enemies to make some quick Rupees, then talk to the shop lady and tap the Shield to purchase it. The Wooden Shield WILL protect you from MANY enemy attacks. One of the coolest thing about having a shield is that now you can just run into most enemies without getting hurt. Now can you see how COOL it is? After your first purchase exit the tent and walk east to the Harbor, then talk to the guy in front of the ship. After the conversation walk west and go in the big building on top of the Item Shop. Speak with the man behind the counter. He will tell you that the ship's captain (Linebeck) went to a place called the Temple of the Ocean King, that's the HUGE temple looking thing on your map, circle it, then exit the house. Keep walking to the north-east corner of the map and you will go into the next area. You can head straight into the temple but remember the place that afro guy told you to circle? You know, the most northern part of the map. Make your way north to that circled place and roll into the tree at the top corner. A BIG Green Rupee will fall out, that's A HUNDRED Rupees pocketed. Follow the path all the way west and you will reach the huge and glamorous Temple of the Ocean King, the MOST IMPORTANT place in this game. Ever. ~ V - TEMPLE OF THE OCEAN KING ~ (0005) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + NEW ITEMS | South-Western Sea Chart | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Enter the temple and you will be presented with heaps of skeletons. If you walk close to them you can actually see spectral lights surrounding it. They are the fallen ones who foolishly takled the temple and met their end. And NOW IT'S YOUR TURN! He he, just kidding, but the temple is EXTREMELY hard and annoying so you WILL die at least once in the game. From now on, whenever you see a skeleton, tap it and his spirit will give you helpful advises. After talking to them go north and enter the door. Ciela will tell you that she can hear something. Keep walking north and you'll see a wreched man surrounded by spikes. That man, is Linebeck. He'll ask for your help, accept. What's so special about this temple is that if you walk in any area that's not purple shaded (SAFE ZONE) you will slowly lose health, or as the game says, SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF YOU. You will lose approximately half a heart every three seconds, so be quick and break pots for hearts if you need to. Go around Linebeck to your north then run to the right and step in the Save Zone, then run to the north-east Safe Zone. You will find a chest but HEY!!! There's nothing in it! NO. WAY. I can't really remember, but I don't think there's empty chests in the previous Zelda games - Empty chests are more of a Final Fantasy thing. Anyway, go to the Safe Zone to your west, slash the black orb to lower the spikes that surrounded Linebeck. After he's free he'll run away. Go all the way south to the entrance and talk to Linebeck. Linebeck will say how he broke his leg so YOU can do the exploring for him THAT WIMP HE'LL PAY FOR THIS He then gives you a key. Walk to the north-west corner of the map(near the black orb) and use the key on the locked door. Run for the Safe Zone to your north-west and slash the crystal orb. This'll make stop the spikes near you for a short period of time, run pass the spikes and slash another black orb. Now QUICKLY run to the Safe Zone that's at the north-east corner of the map and hit the black orb there. Don't take the path south of there or you'll fall into a trap floor, which looks different from the rest of the floor anyway so you could use some common sense. If BOTH black orbs are lit at the same time the blue door at the center will open. Go through the door and go up the stairs to find a large chest, it contains the South-Western Sea Chart. Go down the stairs and go south to the entrance...? Linebeck disappeared. Exit the temple. Follow the map back the Port Mercay (south-east, then south all the way). Linebeck's ship rests in the south-east corner of the town. Oshus will also be waiting for you. Walk up to them and Oshus will take the map from Linebeck and you will need to solve a simple puzzle. Use your stylus to scratch off the island on the bottom right corner to reveal a mark that's the Isle of Ember. ~ VI - INTO THE BRINY SEA ~ (0006) Speak to Linebeck and say your ready to sail. You will now enter a completely new gameplay so listen up! To sail to the Isle of Ember you need to draw a path for your ship. Draw a line from the ship to the little anchor to the south of Mercay Island and tap OK. Once you start sailing there's some important things you should know. 1.Tap either left ot right of your ship to adjust the ship's angle so that your ship is ALWAYS facing front. Many hazards can be avoided this way. 1.One the top right there's your ship's health. Colliding with most things will decrease your health and if all are depleted it's gameover. 2.To your right are the buttons Go and Stop. Tap either one to Start/Stop the ship. You may need to use this as emergency if you nearly run into a rock. 3.On the bottom is a small arrow button, tap it to jump. If Linebeck yells "Hazard ahead!" a line formed by two cactuses will appear. Wait until you are close enough and quickly tap the arrow button to avoid it. Your ship will move along the line you drew. Once it reaches the anchor you will arrive at... ~ VII - ISLE OF EMBER ~ (0007) Linebeck will stay behind to "polish his ship" while you do all the work. Run past a house to the fancy house up the north, enter. Go downstairs and you'll encounter a few Octoroks. Defeat them then walk near the stone in the corner of the room, where you will hear a voice from the other side. Yell into the mic and wreck your voice, or simply BLOW into the mic which I found to be much easier. The woman inside is the Fourntune Teller Astrid, who needs your help to escape! Apparently the only way to open the door is to figure out a little puzzle made by Astrid's assistant Kayo : Locate and mark the location of the three torches on your map. First Torch : Exit the house then enter the house that's to the southeast of Astrid's house. Read the journal on the table then mark the location of the torch on your map. Second Torch : Exit the house then cross the bridge to your right. Keep going east past the electric door and cross another bridge. Keep going east until you reach a skeleton who is Kayo. His ghost will appear and tell you to locate the torches. A torch is beside him, mark the location of the torch on your map. Third Torch : Forget about exploring! Since this is a guide I'll make my point simple. Look at your map and you should see a small island on the north end of the Isle of Ember. The torch is to the right of the small island. Mark the location of the torch on your map. After marking the torches, go back to Astrid's basement. Make sure your touch screen is calibrated and tap the sign on the right of the door. A screen will appear and you should touch the locations of the three torches on the map that's on the Touch screen. The map with your markings should be on top to help you. After marking them in the door will open and Astrid will ask you if you want your fortune told, agree and she will tell your fortune. She will open the electrified door we saw earlier for us. Our next destination : Temple of Fire! Exit the house and cross the bridge to your right. Tap and go through that electrified door (now it's no more electrified...). Go up the stairs, head west then climb up another set of stairs. The volcano will start to erupt - watch out for falling rocks! Go around the edge of the volcano and you will reach the Temple of Fire. Ignore the entrance for now. Keep going west and go up another set of stairs. Open the chest to your north for 20 Rupees then go back to the the temple. Stand in front of the candles then blow into the mic to blow them out. The door will open, now you can enter the temple. ~ VIII - TEMPLE OF FIRE ~ (0008) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + | Boomerang | x1 | + NEW ITEMS |---------------------------------------------------------------| + | Heart Container | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Welcome to the first dungeon of Phantom Hourglass that features a boss! - First Floor - There will be flames everywhere, obviously, give your best to avoid them all. Head north until you reach a room with a line of fireballs rotating around the center of the room. Wait until the line of fireballs are out of your way then quickly run east. Kill the Red Chu-Chu then jump across the platforms. Tap the sign on the wall and copy down the path it shows on your map. Head south, kill the Chu-Chus then keep going south. The door will close behind you and four Keese will apear, kill them and the flames protecting the treasure chest will disappear. Walk across and open it up. You will obtain a small key. Use it to open the locked door you just passed by the platforms and go through. In this special room there's tons of pits that you can fall down. Remember the path you copied down before? Just follow it and make sure you grab a Red Rupee from a chest along the way. Once you reach the end, stand in the middle of the four switches and do a Spin Attack to activate them all. Head all the way back to the center room with the rotating fireballs and up the newly opened stairs. - Second Floor - Avoid the electric Chu-Chu on the way and follow the path to an red orb switch. Hit it and the red blocks that's blocking your way will disappear and blue blocks will rise up instead. Run to the other side of the room and enter the room to the south. The door will close behind you and four Gels will apear. Kill them and a chest will appear. Open it for a Boomerang. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <> HOW TO USE A BOOMERANG <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Equip it by tapping the Items icon then tap the Boomerang icon. To use it, you can tap the icon in the upper right corner of the screen, but pressing L or R shoulder buttons is recommended. If you are right handed, hold the stylus in your right hand and grip the L button with your left hand. If you are left handed do the reverse. After holding down the button you then draw the path you want your Boomerang to take. It will return back to you if it reaches the end of its path or hits a wall. Releasing the button will cancel the boomerang attack immediately. Use the Boomerang to hit the orb switches on the platform to your east to make the fire on the left of the chest to disappear. Follow the path west and you will reach a new room. In this room there's two torches that shoot fireballs at you and a staircase with flames in front of it. Avoid the fire balls from the torches and walk west. Draw a Boomerang path that goes through both orb switches (the switches should flash) on to make the fire in front of the stairs to disappear. Go down the stairs. - First Floor - Back to First Floor, you will encounter a yellow Chu-Chu right away. There's an easy way to kill it now that you have the Boomerang. Throw the Boomerang at it and it will go dizzy. Slash it twice and it dies. You can use this technique on almost any monster in the game. That wobbly statue is back in the corner of the room. From now on they will either tell you how to continue forward or tell you how many treasure chests are left on the current floor for 20 Rupees. I recommend spending the cash and mark down everything, so you can point to your friend and say ... I did NOT use any walkthrough to help me whatsoever!!!!!!!!! Anyways, stand infront of the red blocks to your west and use the boomerang to hit the orb switches on the other side of the wall to make the blue blocks go down. Go through the newly opened path and go down the steps then head south until you reach another room. The door will close behind you and two Flaming Skulls will appear, to kill them you need to hit them with your Boomerang then slash them with your sword. After killing them go up the stairs that appears. - Second Floor - Go south. two Flaming Keeses will attack you and the way to kill them is the same as with Flaming Skulls. Avoid the rotating lines of fireballs and make your way down to the south-east corner then pull the lever. Go back up to the closed door and walk to the east then jump across the platforms and head to the south west corner of the room and pull another lever. The door in front of the stairs you climbed up will open. Before going through it, kill the Flaming Keeses and a treasure chest will appear on the north-east corner of the screen. Open it to get a Red Rupee that nicely pays you back the money you gave to the wobbly statue! Now go through that door we just opened. There's another Key-keeper rat in this room, and once again he's way too fast for you to catch it. However, with the help of a Boomerang things are going to be easier. Kill it with a Boometang strike and pick up the key it drops. Run to the south-east corner of the map. Use your Boomerang to activate the red orb switches to make the red blocks on the north path go down. Kill the Octorok and stand between the red and blue blocks. Use the Boomerang to hit that switch again to lower the blue blocks so you can go through. Use the key on the locked door and go up the stairs. - Third Floor - There's two candles in the north part of the room so you can get involved in some awesome blowing actions. Blow them out then tap the map to the left and mark the four switches you need to hit on your map. Now head through the fireballs and cross the bridge to go into the room to your north. Stand in the center platform and hit all four switches with your Boomerang in the order marked by your map: ------- Grab the key that drops down. Now go south and back to the previous | 3 2 | room, then go through the locked door. You will pass an enormous door | o | which is the Boss Door, and you require a super heavy Boss Key to open| 1 4 | it. Head west and you will reach a room with that fireball shooting ------- torch again, but this time with twin Flaming Keeses and yellow Chu-Chus. Defeat them all and the door to your north will open. Go through it and defeat the two Flaming Skulls to clear the fires. Head through the north one and step on the switch to light the western torch, then use the Boomerang to carry the fire from that torch to the other two unlit torches to clear more fire. Head south to where the fire has been cleared until you come to a hole in the floor. Use the Boomerang to hit the orb switch in the next room to make the floor safe to walk on. Go all the way north, avoiding the spinning line of fireballs until you reach an enormous chest, which contains the Boss Key I talked about earlier. If you played the previous Zelda games you will notice that instead of putting the key in your pocket you now have to carry it with you... very slowly. Head back to the Boss Door and throw it in the keyhole. Go up the stairs to reach a pre-boss room. - Boss Floor - Read the stone slab on the left to create a portal to the dungeon's entrance. This will ensure that you won't have to go through everything if you fail the boss, so it's sort of like a save point. Break the jars for hearts then head up the stairs to the the boss... <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <> Blaaz, Master of Fire <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Difficulty: 1/10 DESCRIPTION Blaaz is basically a robe-wearing skeleton. At the start he will split into three smaller forms. HOW TO DEFEAT IT Let me give you a little tip before you fight any bosses... If you've played the previous Zeldas, you'll probably already noticed that THE BATTLE ITEM YOU RECEIVE IN EACH DUNGEON IS IN FACT THE KEY TO DEFEATING THIS DUNGEON'S BOSS! In this dungeon we received the boomerang, so obviously we should use the boomerang on the boss. Look at the top screen for the three sprites. Noticed anything different? Yes, the number of horns on each skull is different. Get out your boomerang and swing it to the skull with one horn, then the one with two horns and finally the one with three horns. One, two, three!!! They will combine to form the real boss. Walk up and slash him as many times as you can, repeat the process 3-4 times and you should defeat the boss. STRATEGY There's no need to panic because they fire SLOW moving fireballs. If some rocks start falling, you will easily dodge them by moving straight ahead. There's also a few pots in the room you can break to heal Link. After defeating the boss, Leaf, the Spirit of Power will join your group. Open the huge chest in the center of the room for a Heart Container which increases your HP by one, the easiest way to get those is by defeating bosses, but there's also many secret Heart Containers. They are outlined in the Side quest section. You can exit the dungeon by treading into the blue flower. - NEXT DESTINATION - For a bit of infos on where you should head next, go back to Astrid's house. Head to Linebeck's boat and venture into the briny sea again. Draw a line to Mercay Island, I'm pretty sure you know where it is, it's to your north! Once your are there, it's time to visit the Temple of the Ocean King again. Stop and take a breather in the town, shop around for potions (DO NOT buy the so called treasures such as corals, the point is to FIND it somewhere then sell it later!) Once you are done shopping head into the Temple. ~ IX - TEMPLE OF THE OCEAN KING 2 ~ (0009) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + | Phantom Hourglass | x1 | + NEW ITEMS |---------------------------------------------------------------| + | North-Western Sea Chart | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ After the conversation with Oshus and Linebeck, walk up to the altar on top of the stairs. The legendary Phantom Hourglass the basis of this game, is now yours!!! The Hourglass will prevent the Temple from draining your life as long as there are still sands in it. If the sand runs out you while you're exploring the temple... YOU'RE DOOMED!!! The only way is to exit the temple to restore its power. So, Are you ready to try it out? Enter the real Temple from the door beneath you. - First Floor - You have 10 minutes to complete this task, so listen up! Run to the door to your north, open it and descend. - First Basement - Phantoms will appear at the north-east and north-west corners of the map. Run to the north-east side of the map and locate a crystal orb, hit it to light the right torch to your south. Now run to the torch and throw your boomerang through the lit torch to the unlit torch and light both of them. The fire wall to the east of the torches will fade away. Go through them and follow that path all the way up, and yes, avoid the Phantoms at all costs. Keep going north and you should see a blue door. You will now see Red Pots, and what they do is simply amazing. Break one and the purple contents spills out, stand on it and, yes, it's a mini Safe Zone!!! Use these to hide yourself from the Phantoms anywhere on the map. You should use it in spaces that lacks Safe Zones, but in this map, there's plenty. You don't need them. Walk east and tread on the green switch to unlock that blue door. Now, go through the door and open the treasure chest for a key. Use the key to unlock the door to the east of that crystal orb (the one that lights the torches). Descend the stairs. - Second Basement - Head south until you see a crystal orb that's closely guarded by a Phantom... When it's not looking, quickly hit it (and the Phantom will chase you but you are fast so it should be no problem) Do a loop, and when you had enough fun run over to where the Phantom was standing and pull the lever that was behind him to vanquish the flames to your north-west. Run to the west and hit yet another crystal orb to make a key appear. Go south to where the flames were snuffed out and you should see three red blocks and another set of flames to the west. Stand infront of the flames and hit the crystal orb to your west with the boomerang, follow the path that's opened east until you reach three blue blocks and a red crystal orb. Hack it and the red blocks will go down and the blue ones vice versa. Now head north and go back to the Safe Zone on the south-west side of the map, wait for the Phantom to walk away and keep going until you reach the other side, use the Red Pot here (remember, use it wisely...). Step in the Safe Zone to your right. Wait for the Phantom to pass and step on the switch. Stay on it and throw your boomerang over the spikes (that went down) to bring the key to you. Run to the locked door at the center of the map and descend. - Third Basement - This basement is extremely, extremely annoying. One of the Phantoms has the key we need! Run to the Safe Zone at the south-east corner and open the chest for a Force Gem, if you played Battle Mode you should know what to do now. But his time you need to fit the Gems into a Tri-Force symbol. Take the Gem to the huge space at the top fit it in any of the three Tri-Force triangles. Note, you walk extreeemely slooowly while carrying the triangle. For the second triangle, run back to the entrance of the room and run over to the pit at the south-western corner of the room and pull the lever to make flames disappear. Go through where the flames were. Now you can either throw a Boomerang at the Phantom's back to stun it, then quickly pick up the key OR keep going, and stand on the switch. Get off it, and for the Phantom with the key to stand on the trap door and step on the switch so the it falls in. No, the key won't disappear with him. Take the key and run back to the room entrance. Now, run to the Safe Zone at the north-western corner of the map and open the chest. Take the second Force Gem to the huge space at the top and pop it into a traingle. For the third piece, go down then all the way right. Use the Boomerang to hit the black crystal orb to your right. Now go back to the huge space again and go left. We now see a new type of pot : Yellow Pots. Then add 15 or 30 seconds to your Phantom Hourglass time. Break them at all costs!!! Run to the south western corner of the map. Unlock the door to the right and open the chest for your final piece. Take your priced Force Gem to the huge space again and pop it into the final triangle. The door slowly opens... Enter. - Chamber - Run to the safe zone at the north-west corner of the map and open the chest for the North-Western Sea Chart. Exit the temple by treading into the blue flower to your east. - NEXT DESTINATION - Head back to Port Mercay and talk to Linebeck. When he wants you to reveal the secret of the map, blow into your Mic to vanquish all the dusts. Now we're back to the briny sea agaaain ~ So, draw a line to the island to the south of Mercay but to the north of Isle of Ember. We need to buy a cannon, and there's no place like CANNON ISLAND that offers better cannons! ~ X - CANNON ISLAND ~ (0010) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + | Cannon | x1 | + |---------------------------------------------------------------| + NEW ITEMS | Power Gem | x1 | + |---------------------------------------------------------------| + | Treasure Map | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Once you reach Cannon Island, go down the stairs and a post office dude (with wings!) will fly over to you and and tells you not to pelt him with rocks (...) then flies off. After the little conversation follow the path to the east and enter the only structure here, Eddo's Garage. Eddo's apprentice will great you and tell you that the cannon isn't complete. We'll have to take the back door to reach Eddo. Head outside and the apprentice will be waiting to unlock the door to the Bomb Garden for you. Go through the door, follow the path, climb up the stairs and when you reach a fork take the east path and open the chest for a Treasure Map. The location of the treasure will be marked on your map. We need the item Salvage Arm to scoop up the treasure, but we don't have it. Keep going south and enter the cave at the south-west corner of the map. Once inside, take a Bomb Plant and chuck it at one of the blocks to the right to blow it up. Take another Bomb Plant and run to the south-east corner of the map, where you should spot a crack on the wall. Chuck the Bomb Plant at it to reveal an opening. Go through and open the chest near you for a Power Gem. You might wonder just WHAT are Power Gems anyway? You need them to power up Leaf, the Power Spirit, but you need at least ten Power Gems to power it up and another ten to fully unleash its power. Take one of the many Bomb Plants blossoming in the fields and throw it over the fence to blow up the block behind the blue block. Run to the top of this area and pull that blue block down all the way to bottom left corner of the stone walls. Now pull the other blue block at the top to reveal a new path. Kill the Rats then take a Bomb Plant to blow up the cracked block that blocks your way. Go up the stairs and take another Bomb Plant and blow more blocks out of your way. Follow the path and take the west fork. Open the chest at the end for 20 Rupees. Head back for another Bomb Plant and clear the remaining paths. Jump off the cliff here (not to your death of course!) and clear a path to the right. Climb back up and take a Bomb Plant and run as fast as you can to the north-east until you reach the fence and follow the fence east and blow up the large blocks over the fence. Remember, you need to be reeelly quick with your reflexes (...) and you may need to retry a few times. Now go around the fence, follow the path and you will reach the other half of Eddo's garage. Enter, and talk to Eddo. Eddo will ask you to pay for his cannon. He pauses for dramatic effects before announcing it's price:50 Rupees! Don't tell me you don't have 50 Rupees, but if you don't you can always slash up grasses outside until you do. Once you have the Cannon head back to the ship. - NEXT DESTINATION - Draw a line through the opening in the line of rocks to your west and to the only island on the left of it. However, once your ship is near it you may notice that there isn't an opening... Well, what are you still waiting for? Blow up an opening! After a while you will arrive at... ~ XI - MOLIDA ISLAND ~ (0011) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + | Shovel | x1 | + |---------------------------------------------------------------| + NEW ITEMS | Random Treasures | x2 | + |---------------------------------------------------------------| + | Treasure Map | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Remember, what you should do while visiting a town/village in a RPG game is to talk to everyone, and everything that's talkable! You will see some stone tablets, mark their locations on your map. I will tell you why later. After you've done that pay a visit to the second house from the left and open the chest for a random treasure. Now talk to EVERYONE on the island. Have you done that? Yes, so go into the right most house on the map. The owner of the house, Romano, will tell you that he can't help you. However, he changes his mind when you are exiting his house and tells you to explore the cave behind his house. Exit the house and enter the cave. Keep following the path and climb up some stairs. Kill the Keese here then jump cross the platforms to your east until you reach the other side. Be very careful as Keeses might attack you while crossing. Once on the other side, walk north to the bridge and a new type of monster, Sahagin, will appear. You must defeat it to proceed. It will either strike you with his sword or plummet you with fireballs. Dodge the attacks and aim your Boomerang at his back to stun him, then run to his back and slash until it dies. Take the 20 Rupees he drops and cross the bridge to the next area. Keep going follow the path, killing the Octoroks along the way until you reach the exit. Take a Bomb Plant and use it to blow up the crack on the wall to reveal a passage, go inside and open the chest for the mighty Shovel, another important item! With the Shovel, you can hit some enemies to stun them or dig around for Rupees and treasures. Read the book on the table to find out about his other secret hideout. Go back outside and mark the location of the stone tablet here on your map. Follow the path west and open the chest for a random treasure. Exit the tunnel. You should spot the last stone tablet, mark it's location on the map. It's time to find the second secret hideout! To reveal the location of the secret hideout, you need to connect the locations of the stone tablets so it forms a giant "X" symbol, kind of like this : O \ O \ / ------------------ \ / | LEGEND | \ / ------------------ \ / |x=Secret Hideout| x |O=Stone Tablets | / \ ------------------ / \ / \ / O O Go to the center of the cross and dig in front of the palm tree using your Shovel to reveal a hole in the ground. Jump in! Open the chest at the top right corner for a Treasure Map then check the map next to the chest for the ultra important route around the rocks so you can reach the Isle of Gust. Copy it down on your map then read the diary beside it. Follow the path west and you will reach the door with the Sun Door, and you need a Sun Key to open it, but sadly, we don't have the key yet. Oh well, mark the location of the door and keep proceed heading east and jump off the ledge. Head back to town and get back on the boat. - NEXT DESTINATION - Draw a route to the north-eastern sea. Once you are there draw the route around the rocks like what you drew on the map so you can get past the fog. If you didn't follow this guide well and didn't get the route down there is no need to panic, a rough guide have been sketched for you. _____ / \ / O \ O | ____ \_________ END | / \ \ | O ) \|____/ ____ ---------- | O / \ | LEGEND | \____/ O / ---------- _____/ |O=Rocks | O / ---------- | O | START A while after getting through the fog, you will finally, finally reach... ~ XII - ISLE OF GUST ~ (0012) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + | Power Gem | x1 | + |---------------------------------------------------------------| + | Wisdom Gem | x1 | + NEW ITEMS |---------------------------------------------------------------| + | Courage Gem | x1 | + |---------------------------------------------------------------| + | Treasure Map | x1 | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Walk up a bit and you'll see the postman doing his usual deliveries. If you want to know when you'll receive more letters, head to Chapter 13! Go up the stairs to your north. Here, you might get frustrated by the frequent gusts of winds. Kill the Moblins and down the stairs to the east. Kill the Chu-Chus and go up another set of stairs. You will have to jump across the gaps here, so just walk across it to jump. However, refrain from jumping if the wind is blowing. Once on the other side, follow the path and go down the steps west of the sign and kill more Moblins. Pick up a Bomb Plant and use it to blow up the cracked wall to your north. Enter the opening. Go north and open the chest for a Courage Gem. Tap the map to the west and mark the location of the windmills and the temple on your map. Read the book beside the map if you want, then exit the room. Run east and jump across the platform. Jump across again (becareful about the wind though) then go down the stairs to the west. Kill the Moblins then get out your shovel and dig on the button shaped things on the ground for some Rupees. Go north-west and go in the cave. Follow the path and jump off the ledge. Kill all the Moblins and open the two reward chests for a Treasure Map and a Wisdom Gem. Exit the cave by going south east. Kill the Chu-Chus then follow the path and step into the hole that shoots out wind, it will blow you the top. Go east, then south and dig the button shaped thing on the ground for some cash. Head back to the wind hole that lifted you and use the wind to jump to the ledge to the western platform. Go north and you should reach our next testination, the Temple of Wind, but you can't enter yet due to the gusts of wind. Check out the sign on the wall and copy the marked location onto your map. Go south and ride the wind up again, ignore the blue door and head south-west. More buttons, so dig them for wind holes. The one on the far left for a chest that contains a Power Gem. Jump down and ride the middle wind hole up for the next area. More buttons! Dig up the left one and ride it up. However, cover up the next wind hole you see so you can walk across. Ride the next one up and you'll see four gusts of wind. Ride up and you'll see another sign on the wall, examine it and it will show you three marks for your map. Once you copied them down go back down and cover up the lower two of the four air holes to remove the boulder. The next area is kind of tricky, and very, very scary, as there's a huge worm called Sand Worm under the dirt that eats you if you walk on their territory. You can walk slowly to avoid waking them, but the best way to avoid them is to run away as fast as you can. You can also throw Bomb Plants so they eat it instead and KABOOM, you defeat it, but it will come back and it's difficult so just run away as fast as you can! If it eats you, and they will, rub the stylus and it will eventually spit you back out again. Remember those three marks you just drew on your map not so long ago? They are the locations of the Windmills we need to switch on. Just look at your map, run to the three locations and when you are in front of the windmills, blow into the Mic. for a few seconds to activate them. After all three windmills are activated the blue door will open and the winds blocking you will die down. Once on the other side, grab the Bomb Plant right into the group of bombs to your north and blow them all up, which sets off both black crystal orbs to create two wooden bridges. Cross either bridge and kill the Red Chu-Chus. Push the block in the way to the east to block the wind so you can pass. Hit the crystal orb to stop the winds, run across and open the lower door here and step on the floor switch, it creates a bridge that allows you access to this area later. Go up the stairs to the right. Wait for the stream of air to stop, then run across. Dodge the next two, then leap across the pits and run down the stair- way to enter the north room. The door will close and all you have to fight are a few purple snakes. Keep moving to the left until you reach a block. Push it to the left and enter the sandy room. Ignore the airspouts for now and move on to the left. Grab the air statue and pull it downward and to the left so that it lines up with the ledge in the next room. Run with the wind and leap over the pit. Step on the floor switch to open the light blue door and head down the north stairs. - First Basement - When you go into the next room the door behind you will close and the map will zoom in to give you a clearer view. Three of the rocks in this room are actually Chu-Chus in disguide. You can't simply attack it with your sword so walk around the rocks and wait for a rock ro shake. When the Chu-Chu finally emerge use a Bomb Plant to blow up its helmet then finish it off with an attack from your sword. After slaying all three of them the door to the right will open. Follow the path to the right and you will reach a large room. In the room head south and kill all the Moblins that's in your way. Keep going until you reach the wall and follow the path north. You'll see a switch, and a stone tablet. Step on the swtich to open up the the blue door then read what's on the tablet. Go through the door that just opened and jump down the ledge. Ride the northmost wind up to the ledge above and open the chest for a Courage Gem. Jump off the platform to the north and go back through the blue door. Go down the steps to the right instead of going into the ditch with the wind holes. Keep going east and break the blue pots around the chest. Open the chest and take the Random Treasure. Go back into the ditch with the wind holes and pull the blue block forward to plug up the third hole from the bottom then ride the wind from the bottom, travel north along the wind and eventually land on the blue block, walk east and fall off the brown block then keep going east. Head down the stairs. - Second Basement - Set one of the Bomb Plants infront of the crack on the wall to open the path up north. In this new room we see those annoying Sand Worms again. Grab a Bomb Plant and blow one up then run as fast as you can to altar in middle of the room. You will find instructions on which wind holes to dig up! Copy down the locations and dig the windholes at these locations. At the western end of the room there's a chest, open it to get a Power Gem. After Lighting all of the torches by digging windholes both doors in this room will open. Go to the northwestern corner of the room and climb up the stairs. - First Basement - Go up the stairs to the east and go across the bridge. Move the statue (that's blowing wind out) on top of the tile with the sun on it so the windmill on the other platform starts to spin. Head back downstairs. - Second Basement - The windmill should open up a door to the north. Go into the cave and use the Bomb Plants to blow up the blocks that's blocking up the stairs going down to the First Basement. - First Basement - Back in the First Basement, go across the bridge to the south and push the Wind Statue like the one you saw before on top of the second sun tile to make the second windmill move. After activating both windmills jump down the ledge and take the key that falls down. Now, head back down to the Second Basement again by passing through the blue and brown block that you put in the wind hole. - Second Basement - Use the key you just obtained to unlock the door to the north. Climb up the steps and take the Bomb bag (with capacity of 10 Bombs). Run to the eastern end of the room to the opened treasure chest and walk north. Throw your newly acquired Bombs at the crack in the wall and go in. Drop a bomb on the wind hole so it floats up and blows the cracked block that's blocking your way. Ride the wind up and go up the stairs. - First Basement - Drop a bomb onto the wind hole to your right and run all the way east. The bomb you put on the wind hole should cause the entire row of Bomb Plants to explode and hit the crystal orb, opening the door to the south. Go through the door and follow the path to the east, read what's on the tablet, then walk east and place a bomb on the black and white tiles against the wall to open up a path. Go through the opening and head east until you reach another door. Tap it to open it and go through. Head up the stairs to your right. - First Floor - More Armored Chu-Chus. Kill them like you killed before then place a bomb in front of the wall that's alighed with the black and white tiles. Go through the path you just opened head up the steps. If you need bombs you can break the blue pots. Head to the left of the steps and drop a bomb on each sun tile to hit both crystal orbs at once, opening the door infront of you. Go through the door and open the chest to obtain the Boss Key. Take the boss key (you'll walk veeery slooowly) and Jump off the ledge to the west with it. Throw down the key on the ground first then chuck a bomb into one of the wind holes that's guarding the Boss Door. The cracked blocks are blasted apart and the way forward is open. Ride the wind up with the boss key and unlock the boss door. Head north, ride up more wind holes and go through the door. Read the tablet to reveal a flower that links the entrance to the boss room - in case you fail, you won't have to repeat the dungeon again. THE BATTLE ITEM YOU RECEIVE IN EACH DUNGEON IS IN FACT THE KEY TO DEFEATING THIS DUNGEON'S BOSS! In this dungeon we received the bombs, so obviously we should use the bombs on the boss, but since the boss is WAY up there in the skies we need to figure out a way to send the bombs up. The boss will cast a few whirlwinds at you. Run around until you can see the boss on top of the whirlwind (or, the boss's SHADOW over the whirl wind) throw a bomb in the whirlwind and it will fly to the boss, knocking it unconcious into the touch screen so you can slash it as many times as you can with your sword. repeat the process 4-5 times and you should defeat the boss. STRATEGY If the boss comes down to the touch screen and charge at you roll away as fast as you can because you can't simply throw a bomb at him right now. Also, don't rely on bomb plants, ONLY use them if you absolutely have no bombs left in your inventory. There's one red base and one blue base, you will be shown which color's yours. Triangle shaped gems are scattered through out the course. You and your opponent take turns playing Link or the Phantoms with 2 minutes to try and win. ~ If you are Link ~ Your objective is to pick up the triangle shaped gems and take them back to your colored base. Instead if plugging the gem into slots like in the Adventure Mode, all you have to do in Battle Mode is to chuck the gem into your base and it will turn into your color. The bigger the gem, the more points you get! Tiny gems are worth 1 point, medium ones 5, while large ones gives you a whopping 15 points! If you played the Adventure Mode then you probably already experienced how slow you are while carrying a gem... Well, the same principle applies here, which is reeely annoying because it gives you huge disadvantages. Another thing you should know is that the only time you can see your opponents (Phantoms) on the map is when you're carrying a gem. ~ If you are the Phantoms ~ Your objective is to control the three Phantoms to hack Link. Phantoms are quite different from Link because instead of actually controlling them you have to draw their paths on a map, like how you control the ship in Adventure Mode. Phantoms are much slower than Link but hey, you've got THREE of them! You can corner Link if you do it the right way. Another thing you should know is that you can only see Link on the map when he's not in a Safe Zone. battle, you might think it's a good idea to just turn off your DS and cry BUT in return you will lose 30 Battle Points and if you do that too many times you actually get a Angry Link next to your name to err, broadcast your cowardness, so, em, don't do that. ~ Use the map that's on the top screen for Link or bottom screen for the Phantoms. You'll easily pin-point your opponent's location with it. ~ I probably don't have to mention this, but once an item of your color appears on the map GRAB IT as fast as you can! You don't even need to stop and take a good look at it, since all the items does something that benefits you. ~ Since bigger gems worth more points, obviously you should get them first. Get them as far away from your opponent as you can! On the other hand, if you have any big gems in your base you should guard them before everything else. Strategies for Link... ~ Remember from the Adventure Mode walkthough? When the Phantoms are chasing you ROLL to increase your speed. Even if you don't roll you can still escape their clutches since the Phantoms are, like, SO slow. Strategies for the Phantoms... ~ As soon as the countdown starts you can actually get a head start by drawing their routes as fast as possible. ~ While it seems to be a good idea to penetrate your opponent's base, it's actually better if you GUARD your own base while attacking your opponent's base at the same time, since the Phantoms are, like, SO slow! ~ On some courses, there's staircases which acts as a shortcut so you can get to the other side of the screen. Just make sure you don't send all three Phantoms over or you'll sure lose. <><><><><><><><> <> TRADING <> <><><><><><><><> You can trade treasures and ship parts with your opponent while playing Wi-Fi Battles! But first, you need to do a little side quest in the Adventure mode. Make sure you have Bow and Arrows and Bombs for this sidequest. Sail to Mercay Island, go to a wall with cracks just before Temple of the Ocean King and bomb it open. Hop across the gaps and shoot an arrow at the eye. Exit south. Go up the stairs and shoot an arrow at another eye, this will make a statue appear. Hit the statue with your sword and a beam of blue light will appear. Tap the statue then rotate it so it's facing north-west on the right of the temple. Hop off the cliff to your north and follow the light. Place a bomb at the part of the wall where the light shines. KABOOM! Secret Cave. Enter the cave and follow the path to the exit. There's a box with Wisdom Gem and a switch to create a bridge to the south so make sure you do that. After that talk to a woman called Freedle up north. She'll explain the boxes behind her with every beat of guitar. Put any treasure of ship part you wish to trade inside the boxes. If your opponent do the same before a Wifi battle your items will be traded. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ () 4. Ship parts appear at random, so save before you open a treasure chest that might contain a ship part! If you don't get the part you want you can always reset the game and try again. 2. After you retrieve the petrified Tetra from the Ghost Ship and after your visit to the Blacksmith Zauz, you can tackle the Temple of the Ocean King. This time, when you get to B6 you will encounter a midway save point. It allows you to return to the Temple entrance, then back again later, as many times as you want. After you have the Grappling Hook you'll easily breeze through to B9. Defeat the Swift Phantom there by opening a trap door (see walkthrough!) and you'll get a random ship part. Repeat process for unlimited ship parts! 3. After you obtain the Swordman's Scroll (see sidequest section for this long winded sidequest!) Go back to NE Sea Chart and visit the Man of Smiles in the Traveler's ship there. He'll give you the Postcard. Mail it off and you will receive random ship parts in the mail! 4. Minigames at Molida Island and Bannan Island offer you random ship parts if you score a decent point. 5. When you encounter Pirates at sea, sink them with your mighty cannon and you can salvage up where they sank for ship parts! Make sure you salvage straight after they sink or the treasure's going to disappear. 6. The Masked Beedle's ship sells more valuable products than Beedle's ship. He will appear between 10:00PM and Midnight on a weekday or between 10:00AM and Noon on weekends. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ () 7. Fishing Guide (CH07) ()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()() Here I will explain the Fishing Rod sidequest again. First off, when you arrive at Bannan Island go straight to the Old wayfarer's house. when you talk to him he's going to to say things about how he wants to find a mermaid. If you talk to him again he will say that the mermaid will hide from any one who tries to get near her. This is were you go outside. when you are outside scale the outside perimeter of the island. But before you do you have to slay all the enemies so that the mermaid can show herself. When you do find her you must not get to close but enough to were you can take your boomerang and strike her. After a wack in the head with your boomerang she will demand an apology. After your little talk with her go back to the Old Wayfarer's house and talk to him again. He say that your story must be impossible and he panicks and thinks that the mermaid must be with another man. The only other old man on the island happens to be Lineback. Sure enough, when you talk with lineback he explains that he did talk with the mermaid. After this go back to the wayfarers house again. The "mermaid" is now in his small swimming pool. When you talk to him he thanks you by giving you the fishing rod, ain't that great. You can now start fishing! When you see a shadow that resembles your average fish, open the menu and choose Fish. You will encounter six kinds of fish: the Skippyjack, Toona, Loovar, Rusty Swordfish and the legendary ones like Neptoona and Stowfish. The Skippyjack and Toona are a walk in the park. The Loovar's kinda average but the legendary ones are just freaking annoying!!! Here's a list of all the fish! _______________________________________________________________________________ - BASIC - _______________________________________________________________________________ Skippyjack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Common, average fish. They're really small and don't look very tasty. _______________________________________________________________________________ Toona ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another common fish. Sounds like Tuna! _______________________________________________________________________________ Loovar ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rarest of the set. The Loovar is quite hard to find, don't give up and eventually you'll find it! _______________________________________________________________________________ - ADVANCED - _______________________________________________________________________________ You need to get the Big Catch Lure from the Old Wayfarer in order for these fish to appear. _______________________________________________________________________________ Rusty Swordfish ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just like the swordfish we see in real life, it has a pointy nose! _______________________________________________________________________________ Neptoona ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like a whale... _______________________________________________________________________________ Stowfish ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Stowfish can hook onto other fish, so it looks a bit larger than it really is. _______________________________________________________________________________ So how do you fish? When you encounter a fish you're going to start with you and your fishing pole at the bottom, the fish you are going to reel in is at the top and the gauge is at top left. Look at the top screen to see the fish coming at your line. when it does it will say "Pull!" at the bottom screen, this is where you stroke down until you the sign goes away then make circling motions on the touch screen and pull at the same time. when the fish jumps up in the air the screen will say "Let go!" That's where you ... you know .... let go. There's a gauge at the left of the touch screen. when you're not pulling enough your gauge will go down to the red zone. If it goes down too much it will say "Danger!" and you might even lose your catch, so frequently pull and reel in to make sure you're in the green zone and get your catch. Look at the fish shadows! When you're out fishing you're not always going to see the same old fish. After you catch all three of the main fish and go to the wayfarer he will give you the Big Catch Lure. This allows you to catch the Rusty Swordfish, the Neptoona and the Stowfish. The Rusty Swordfish and Neptoona a shadows actually looks different from the normal ones. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ () E1. Bosses Roundup (EX03) ()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()() If you are looking for how to defeat a specific boss, this section is for you. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <> Cyclok, Stirrer of Wind <> <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Difficulty: 3/10 DESCRIPTION Cyclok is basically an Octorok wrapped in a cyclone. He will be on the top screen chucking whirlwinds at you, and will occationally visit you at the bottom screen. HOW TO DEFEAT IT Let me repeat the little tip again... There's also a few pots in the room you can break to heal Link, or to replenish your bomb supplies. - MORE COMING SOON - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ () A1. FAQ (AC01) ()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()() FAQ stands for "Frequently Asked Questions" and I didn't plan to create this section at all. However, people emailed me the same question over and over and I thought it IS a good idea to have this section after all... Q:How long will it take you to finish the walkthrough? I read your Nintendogs guide and I can't wait to see the same quality guides again. A:Since I'm extremely busy but I also want my guide to be perfect, it may take up to 1-2 years! Q:How do you know the names for the mosters? A:From past experiences on Zelda (Especially the figurines from Zelda : Minish Cap) and for some of the newly introduced monsters, I just named them after their look-alikes from a game series called Final Fantasy! Q:Can you reveal a bit of information on the next guide you are working on? A:The next guide in the Ultimate DS series will feature Kingdom Hearts - 358/2 Days. Who doesn't like Kingdom Hearts? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ () A2.
