3. Introduction to this FAQ [HMRF-Intro]
Hello everyone, and welcome to my FAQ. I will admit that this is my
first time writing an FAQ. I hope that this guide will help all of you with
any questions you may have about the tools. Anyone who has played a Harvest
Moon game before will know how important the tools are in this game. That is
the main reason I decided to write this guide.
If anyone has any comments, corrections or questions please email me
at speedemon410 (@) hotmail (dot) com. However, please title these emails as
Harvest Moon FAQ or Tool Guide or something to that effect. Otherwise, I will
most likely delete them. Also, any junk email or spam received will be
deleted immediately and the sender will be blocked. Thank you for your
cooperation.
I also have included special phrases beside the sections listed in the
Table of Contents. Just press the CTRL and F buttons on your keyboard and type
in these special phrases. Since they only appear twice (table of contents and
specific section) it should take you right to the section you want to go to.
Anyway, you are probably wanting to move on so

4. The Basics [HMRF-Basics]
Now, the first step in this tool guide, is showing you how to get the
tools. Below is a list of who to get the tools from and how.

Axe- Talk to Bianca at her house.

Rod- Walk to the end of the dock on the beach. Sabrina will come and give you
the Rod.

Sickle- Till 50 squares of land on your farm. (Note- you do not have to plant
crops in the tilled soil to get the sickle.) After that is completed, go and
talk to Rosetta in Jeans Shop.

Hoe- You get this from Mist at the start of the game.

Hammer- Till 50 squares of land in Carmite Cave. (Note- you do not have to
plant crops in the tilled soil to get the hammer.) Then go and talk to Leo
the Blacksmith.

Watering Pot- You get this from mist at the start of the game.

Once you have upgraded these tools, to use them to their upgraded
ability just hold down the 'B' button. The tool should charge. You should be
able to tell what level the tool is charged to by watching a little glowing
sphere. As you charge the tool, the sphere grows. Below is a list of what the
sphere looks like at different levels.

Level 1- nothing special happens
Level 2- small glowing white orb
Level 3- large glowing orb
Level 4- large glowing orb with a circle orbiting it
Level 5- large glowing orb with two rings orbiting it

5. How to Upgrade the Tools [HMRF-Upgrade]
There are two ways to upgrade your tools. The first, and easiest, way
is to have Leo the Blacksmith do it for you. He charges a small fee and will
ask you to get him some ore to upgrade your tools. However, Leo takes several
days to upgrade your tool, this takes valuable time away from farming. Also,
he can only upgrade each tool twice. This leaves your tools at level 3, out
of a possible 5 levels. So, if you want your tools upgraded fully, you will
have to do the last two upgrades yourself.

Below is a table for upgrading your tools with Leo the Blacksmith.

Tool Name Days Ore Cost

6. Uses of the Upgraded Tools [HMRF-Upgtool]
As you know, all the tools are used to accomplish different tasks.
However, the different levels of tools can do these tasks quickly and more
efficiently. Each level of tool is better than the one before it. Here is a
list of what each tool does at which levels.

Cheap Sickle- Cuts one space in front of you. Can cut grass, weeds and crops.
Iron Sickle- Cuts a strip 3 squares long in front of you.(Note-not like hoe,
the sickle cuts horizontally not vertically.)
Quality Sickle- Cuts a 3x3 area in front of you.
Super Sickle- Cuts a 5x5 area in front of you.
Legend Sickle- Cuts a 9x9 area in front of you.

Cheap Waterpot- Waters one square directly in front of you. Holds 12 squares.
Tinplate Waterpot- Waters 3 squares across, directly in front of you. Holds
24 squares.
Lion Waterpot- Waters a 3x3 area directly in front of you. Holds 54 squares.
Rainbow Waterpot- Waters a 5x5 area in front of you. Holds 100 squares.
Joy Waterpot- Waters a 9x9 area in front of you. Holds 162 squares.

Cheap Hoe- Tills on square of soil in front of you.
Sturdy Hoe- Tills a strip 3 squares long directly in front of you.
Seasoned Hoe- Tills a 3x3 area in front of you.
Shiny Hoe- Tills a 3x6 area in front of you.
Blessed Hoe- Tills a 3x9 area in front of you.

The different levels of Rods can catch different fish. However, Im not too
sure on what fish each level can catch. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheap Hammer- Smashes small stones. Cant smash the medium stones or
boulders.
Iron Hammer- Smashes small and medium stones in one hit. Cant break
boulders.
Silver Hammer- Smashes small and medium stones in one hit. Takes 3 hits to
break boulders.
Golden Hammer- Smashes small and medium stones in one hit. Takes 2 hits to
smash boulders.
Platinum Hammer- Smashes small and medium stones in on hit. Takes 1 hit to
smash boulders.

Cheap Axe- Cuts branches in one hit. Cant chop stumps.
Chopping Axe- Cuts branches in one hit. Takes 6 hits to chop stumps.
Lumber Axe- Cuts branches in one hit. Takes 3 hits to chop stumps.
Mountain Axe- Cuts branches in one hit. Takes 2 hits to chop stumps.
Miracle Axe- Cuts branches in one hit. Takes 1 hit to chop stumps.
