Well, kind of, that is. Their souls live on in the form of something called Biometal, that a select few humans can Megamerge with to become one with the legendary Maverick Hunters. Having said that, I wish you welcome to my full walkthrough for Mega Man ZX, the first sidescrolling DS-game in the series. If you've played one of the Mega Man X or Mega Man Zero games on SNES or GBA, you know what to expect here, as the core gameplay remains the same as in those games, and in addition, there's quite a few new features for you to sink your teeth into. Being a longtime follower of the series, my goal with this walkthrough is to cover the whole game -- sidequests and optional items included. A pretty unique thing about the walkthrough is that by following it from beginning til end, you will get to know the locations of all the hidden datadisks in the game. Getting them is optional, but at least, you can collect them if you want to. The disks, are however, also listed in their own section, with locations and more info. That's all. Enjoy the walkthrough. =============================================================================== Game Basics & Hints [be02] =============================================================================== - Biometal Models: Mega Man ZX is all about collection various models of something called Biometal. Biometals are gained by defeating the pseudoroid bosses in the game, and lets your character Megamerge (transform) into different forms. Each form, or Biometal Model, has special abilities. Some models let you jump higher, while others provide weapons that are better suited for many situations than the ones you've got from before are. In addition, some Biometal Models have an elemental alignment tied to them. You can browse through your Biometal Models by pressing the X button. - Attacks: As mentioned above, the various Biometal Models have different abilities, but one thing most of them have in common, is that they provide you with a charge attack, and a standard quick attack. Charge attacks are pulled off by holding one of the two attack buttons, then releasing it after your character has started flashing. Quick attacks are pulled off by simply tapping one of the attack buttons. Some Models have two different weapons, or two ways to attack with the same weapon - that's why the developers gave you two attack buttons instead of one. - Elements & Overdrive Mode: As mentioned above, some Biometal Models have an elemental alignment tied to them. Using the correct element to attack your enemies will make it much easier, and faster to defeat them. By default, your Biometals do not have their elements activated. To activate them, you need to enter Overdrive mode by pressing the A button. While in overdrive mode, your Overdrive gauge will be drained of energy. To fill it again, you must collect Biometal Energy, which is often dropped by enemies. Some charge attacks will also activate the Biometal's elemental alignment at the moment they are used, but standard attacks like buster shots and normal saber slashes do not have an elemental alignment, as long as Overdrive is not activated. The elemental system works like this: Fire -> Ice Ice -> Electric Electric -> Fire - Biometal Boss System: The bosses that keep the Biometal Models with them before you defeat them have a weak point on their bodies. Attacking this weak point will deal lots of damage to the boss, but at the same time, it will damage the Biometal Model they are keeping. If you damage their Biometal a lot, you will have to pay lots of E-crystals to repair it after battle. You can repair Biometal Models by talking to the scientist Fleuve in the Guardian HQ, area X-1. Damaged Biometal Models will have shorter Overdrive gauges than fully repaired ones. You'll see how much you damaged a boss' Biometal once you've defeated it, by looking at your level ranking. Level 4 Victory means that the Biometal did not get damaged at all, while Level 1 victory means that it got damaged a lot. Naturally, you should try not damaging the Biometal a boss is keeping while fighting it. If you get a level 4 victory, a plush doll similar to the boss you killed will appear in Prairie's room in the Guardian HQ. - Transervers: Transervers are terminals who let you save your progress and accept new mission. Transervers colored yellow also let you transport to other yellow Transervers. Once you've completed a mission, you need to find a transerver and select 'Mission Report' to tell the Command Center that you've completed a mission, and are ready to start a new one. Once you've reported about completing a mission, you will receive a reward. If you take a look at the map on your pause menu, areas that contain Transervers will have a small arrow flashing over them. - Subtanks: The Subtank system has been found in various Mega Man since, well, they've been here a long time. Once you've found a Subtank, the subtank will appear on your pause menu, and get filled with energy when you collect energy packs. If you run low on energy while fighting, you can access the pause menu and fill your energy bar with energy that has been stored in your Subtanks earlier. Note that the Subtanks will only start storing energy after your energy gauge has been filled. This way, collecting energy is smart, even if your energy gauge is completely full. Subtanks are especially useful during tough boss battles, so make sure to fill them before fighting a boss! You won't regret it -- that's for sure. - Enemy Drops: When killing normal enemies, not bosses, you will notice that they often drop various items. The items dropped by normal items are: [1UP]: Restores one life, like green mushrooms in Super Mario [Energy]: Restores your energy gauge [E-crystals]: Used to repair your Biometal Models at the Guardian HQ [Biometal Energy]: Restores the overdrive gauge - Other Items: In addition to the items that are frequently dropped by normal enemies, there are some more important ones as well. Getting them is usually harder, and requires you to search at a certain location, or defeat a certain boss, before you can claim the items: [Life Up]: Extends your energy gauge [Biometal Models]: Gives you new abilities and elemental alignments [Extension Chips]: Gives you new abilities - Stack Up: Before starting a new mission, it's smart to stack up on both energy and 1UPs. Because, if you fail the mission, you will have to start all over again. It's very frustrating to die while fighting a boss, because you didn't remember to fill your Subtanks with energy. So, always remember to stack up on both energy and 1UPs. - Invincibility: After taking a hit from an enemy, or taking damage in any other way, you will be invincible for a short period of time. During these few seconds, you can even walk in lava without taking damage. Just make sure to get back to safety before you stop flashing, as that is when your invincibility period ends. Use this feature to quickly run through enemies, or pick up items in lava pits. =============================================================================== Storyline [be03] =============================================================================== While the Mega Man series - well, many of them - might seem like a series that only focuses on guns, techniques and catchy phrases, there is a pretty good storyline behind it all, stretching over countless games. As a sequel to the Mega Man Z games on GameBoy Advance, you can expect the same from Mega Man ZX: --------------------------------- [THE WORLD] --------------------------------- In the future humans and robotic android Reploids lived in peace. Peace didn't last long however, as a group of Reploids suddenly started to rebel against the humans that once created them. The war lasted for many, many years, but finally humans and Reploids came together, seeking once more to live in peace with each other. This time, peace lasted for hundreds of years. During this period, several large nations were created. This close to perfect world was not everlasting though, as areas between the powerful nations eventually became breeding grounds for Mavericks, Reploids gone rogue. These Maverick-controlled areas were now known as the Outlands, and in the end, they cut off the powerful nations from one another. In contrast to the Outlands, the nations became known as Innerpeace. A giant corporation known as Slither Inc. succeeded in excavating ancient technology that had lied hidden in the ruins in the Outlands, and were able to bring amazing new changes to the human cities and nations. Thanks to Slither Inc, humans were able to live safely in their protected cities, far out of reach of the wild, murderous and out-of-control Mavericks. ------------------------------- [SLITHER INC.] -------------------------------- Slither Inc. is a huge corporation that supplies over half of the energy supply being used by the human nations and cities, and is heavily relied upon by all humans. The corporation's leader Serpent is the one responsible for turning Slither Inc. into a huge company, and commands a personal army of soldiers. He has protected the humans against the Mavericks countless times. A real hero. Serpent is very proud of Slither Inc. Headquarters, a giant building that supplies cities with energy, and can bee seen from extreme distances. ------------------------------- [THE GUARDIANS] ------------------------------- A secret government organization bent on defending humans and reploids against Mavericks, and investigating the various Maverick outbreaks that often occur. The Guardians have a flying airship as headquarters, and consists of highly trained soldiers, computer geniuses and squad leaders. The current leader of The Guardians is named Prairie. Prairie became the leader after her previous boss went missing during a mission in the Outlands. Prairie likes her stuffed pet a lot, and wears a hat that looks pretty stupid. -------------------------------- [VENT & AILE] -------------------------------- The main characters of Mega Man ZX. Vent is a boy, and Aile is a girl. Both kids' mothers were killed by Mavericks during an outbreak ten years ago, so both of them get a little depressed at times. Vent is the headstrong one of them, while Aile seems to be a little more reasonable in her ways. Both of them are good kids, but they hate Mavericks a lot. Thinking gameplay, the difference between Aile and Vent is that Aile has the upper hand when dashing, while Vent doesn't get as much recoil when he fires his weapons. Not a huge difference. -------------------------------- [GYRO EXPRESS] ------------------------------- A company that specializes in bringing letters and packages from one person or organization to the other - in no time! Speedy deliveries are the right words to describe Gyro Express. The company is lead by Girouette, who took Vent and Aile in when they were small kids, since their mothers were dead. Model HX can also dash in any | | direction after having jumped. This makes HX one of the most useful models. | | Model HX can also hover through the air, and has a three-hit combo that can | | be pulled off by using Saber I, Saber II, then Saber I again. | | | o-----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o-----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | Biometal Model LX | | ----------------- | | | | Obtained: After beating Lurerre, Leganchor | | Main Weapon: Halberd | | Elemental Alignment: Ice | | Special Feature: Item Locator, Swim | | Charge Attack I: Ice Platform (charge normally) | | Charge Attack II: Ice Dragon (charge + UP) | | | | By double jumping while in water, Model LX can swim, and compared to other | | models, it moves faster while in water. The touch screen changes into an | | item locator that displays hidden disks, energy and other items nearby. | | The ice platforms that LX can generate by charging, you can step on, and | | use them to grab secret disks and items on the surface. This model is | | however, pretty useless when not being in water. | | | o-----------------------------------------------------------------------------o o-----------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | Biometal Model PX | | ----------------- | | | | Obtained: After beating Purprill, Protectos | | Main Weapon: Throwing daggers | | Elemental Alignment: None | | Special Feature: Radar, hang in ceiling and on walls, shadow dash | | Charge Attack I: Shuriken (charge normally) | | Charge Attack II: Energy Shield (charge + UP) | | | | Model PX has the fastest rate of fire of all the models, throwing daggers | | lightning fast. The radar on the lower screen displays hidden doors, and | | is also nice for spotting enemies in the dark. You can also hang from | | the ceiling and on walls using model PX. [wa01] =============================================================================== Welcome to the adventure. To start it all, choose NEW GAME from the title menu, and go with the Normal difficulty setting, since Mega Man is not a game for sissies, even if it might look like it while playing on the Easy difficulty setting. Well, here we go! Normal! Now you get to choose between two wild main characters. Skinny, Japanese action heroes Vent and Aile. The difference is that Vent is male, and Aile is female. Apart from the gender thing, there is another difference as well: Vent's dash ability is a little shorter than Aile, while Aile gets more recoil when shooting than Vent gets. To be completely honest, it does not really matter a great deal who you choose to play as. Some dialog will change slightly in addition to the two differences already mentioned, but apart from that, everything, including the storyline, will be the same. Both of them seem to be pretty insane from what I've heard, so pick the one that looks best! For your information, I went with Aile this time around. Now, the game starts. A person named Giro is talking to his client. Giro works in an express delivery company, and so does the main character, Aile. The two of them are to deliver a package to someone referred to as the guardians, but before they manage to do so, they are attacked by mad Mavericks! If you have no idea what Mavericks are, read up on some Mega Man history, or play further. Not that it really matters a great deal though. Well, Aile, along with the mysterious package fell down from a cliff after being attacked. When she finally manages to pull herself together, she sees something weird floating in the air. Something blue, talking and metallish-looking. It's not Ali Baba or one of the forty robbers - it's Biometal! A squad from the guardians is here as well, so everything seems to be fine. Their squad leader, Prairie has a dumb hat on her head though. It really looks dumb, that hat. Hell breaks loose again, and suddenly, a mechanic snake attacks the guardians, taking out the two soldiers that were escorting Prairie. Well, happily for both Aile and Prairie, the Biometal, which calls itself Biometal Model X, decides to merge with Aile, turning her into a true Mega Girl. Ok, Mega Man. This process is called Megamerging in the English language version of the game. The point is that now, when merged with the Biometal, you'll have some pretty cool abilities that you don't have access to as a normal human. You can dash and charge your X buster (The buster is your gun). Throughout the game you will get several kinds of Biometal - Biometal X is just one of them. Now, once in control of yourself again, practice charging the X buster by holding the Y button. Once you release the button, the buster will fire a shot. Try holding the button until Aile starts to flash yellow and some spark-like balls start floating around her body. Once this happens, you can release the button to fire a very powerful blue shot, then press the Y button again to release another blue and red shot. Remember this in the upcoming boss battle, ok? =============================================================================== Stop The Giant Snake [wa02] =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area A-1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk O09...............[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o The giant snake that took down Prairie's two guards escaped to the right. Before hunting it down, go left instead. Can you see that item that is placed in the middle of the narrow passage below a hill? To get it, you must turn into human again, since Biometal Model X cannot crouch (yes, pretty dumb, I know). To turn back to human, press the X button on your Nintendo DS and choose 'HU'. Now, approach the narrow passage and press DOWN to crouch. The item is a Datadisk named [Datadisk O09]. Now, there's isn't a lot to do further left, so go back right and hunt down that big snake. Run right, blasting through all of the enemies. When you get to a set of platforms with purple enemy Mavericks walking on it, don't bother jumping to the top, and go right into the gate. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area A-2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk B03...............[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o You will be greeted by some red, flying helicopter type enemies. You can only | | damage it by shooting at it's head. Make sure you remember how to | | charge your X buster (hold the Y button), then attack Aspis once it | | has pulled off one of its moves, or before it pulls one off. | | | | - Tail Rocks: Aspis will move out of the screen, then use it's tail to | | throw rocks at you. Shoot at the rocks using the X buster to avoid | | taking any damage. Make sure to stay in the opposite end of the screen, | | as you won't want to get hit by the tail or Aspis itself, when it | | returns after using its tail. | | | | - Poison Breath: The snake's body will start flashing, then it will | | spit poison at you. Stay close to the snake's body to avoid being hit. | | | | - Dive: Aspis will move its head upwards, then dive towards the other | | end of the screen. Dash or run towards the middle of the screen | | to avoid this attack. Make sure to time it, so you don't run too | | early or too late. Model X backed up Aile's bravery! Now run right to find the rendezvous point. Before opening the door, pick up the [Datadisk B03] that can be found on the ground, close to the rendezvous point door. Well, head inside now. In here, Aile tells the guardians she meets about Prairie and her guards. She also meets an old man named Fleuve. Fleuve hasn't seen Giro, but when he calls some other guardians, he gets to hear that there's smoke coming from one of the nearby areas, and that Giro might be there! Aile says that she needs to keep the Biometal for a while longer, so that she can go and save Giro. Wow, that's nice of her, isn't it? Fleuve decides to support her, and says that she now has permission to use all of the Transervers scattered throughout the country. Transervers, like the one Fleuve is standing in, can be used to save your game, and to check mission requests. Go close to the transerver and press UP. Save your game, and access the Mission Request menu. There's two missions here right now. The one you should take is named "Locate Giro". Outside again, you will see a dragon - like enemy on your left side. Destroy its head and pick up [Datadisk E29], since it's lying on the ground behind the dragon. At the top of the hill right on the dragon you just took out, there is a door, and a Datadisk is lying on the ground above the door. You will find a [Computer Chip] on the ground now. Take it with you, since Prairie says she can help you analyze it back at The Guardians' headquarters later on. Prairie thinks that the chip must have fallen off a Maverick that passed some time ago. Continue running right, and enter the back door below a platform. There's a life energy pack here, so take it, then head back outside again. If you jump ontop of the barrels outside, then go to the highest platform above, you'll see another door. There is no point in going inside there right now though, as there is a gate that you can't unlock yet. Still outside, continue running right until you see some barrels and a purple/yellow door. The door is locked, but above it, there is another [Computer Chip] that you can get by first jumping onto the nearby barrels, then grabbing the chip itself. Continue right to find a huge gate. Climb up another ladder. Up here you will find some enemies carrying a shield. These guys can only be taken out by attacking from behind - remember that. Continue right past a ladder leading downwards to find a [Computer Chip]. But what? His SABER? Yeah, that's right, Giro has merged with Biometal Model Z, just like Aile merged with Model X. Giro explains that he is a member of The Guardians, and that both he and Aile are chosen ones. Giro was ordered to protect Aile from the people that are after what's inside her - that's part of the reason why he's been with her for so long. Giro asks Aile if she would like to join him and The Guardians, then he leaves, telling Aile to come to The Guardians' HQ once she's decided on what to do. Now you'll need to report about the fact that you've completed the mission. You can report in any transerver room. There is one very close to your current location - just walk a little back left and climb down the ladder you passed earlier just before the boss battle. At the bottom of the ladder you will find [Datadisk E28], and a transerver room. In the transerver room, press UP as usual to access the transerver, then choose Mission Report to get a reward consisting of 250 E-crystals, and a nice MISSION COMPLETE screen. Now, accept the mission named Pass the Test, since you need to complete it to gain access to The Guardians' Headquarters. Also, remember to save your game. =============================================================================== Pass The Test To Access Headquarters [wa04] =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area B-2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o----------------------------o Mission Name: Pass The Test | ITEM CHECKLIST | | | Description: There's a trial you need to pass | No Items..............[ ] | in order to obtain permissionion to enter the | | Guardian HQ. Find the Guardians in Area C. o----------------------------o --------------------------------------------- Accept mission, then exit the transerver room to the right to reach Area C-1. Time to start searching for the Guardians that are hiding among the citizens. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area C-1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prairie says that you should transform back to normal human form since you're now in the city where inhabitants, as well as guards from Slither INC are walking around. So, press the X button and choose human form. Jump down to the bottom of the ladder and talk to the guard there. He says that you need to find four other guardians like him to pass the test. Alright, head right past a person with geeky-looking glasses, and enter the door behind him to find the first guardian, named Oeillet. Go back outside again. This time, go a little right again to find another door. Head inside, and while in human form, crouch under the narrow passage by pressing DOWN on the directional pad. On the other side of the narrow passage, there is a guardian named Carrelet and a pack of E-crystals. Talk to Parelett, then head outside once more. Now we only have to find two guards more! Outside again, you will find a green door that is locked just right of the one you went into last time. Ignore this green locked door, and continue running right until you see a girl standing above a car. Talk to her to find out that her name is Karen. Karen is standing close to a door, but there is nothing inside. Still outside, run right from Karen's position until you've passed a yellow, locked door. You will find an unlocked door just before you reach the gate that leads to Area C-2. Inside, the guardian Congre is hiding, behind two small guards, that won't attack you since you're in human form. Head outside again. Now you only need to find one guardian more! Ok, now head right and crouch under the narrow passage to find the gate that leads to Area C-2. Go there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area C-2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Stuffed Animal.............[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o Run right until you see a girl. Now, transform into X and wall-jump over the truck that is blocking the way. Run past all of the guards in the background and jump over another truck. Now transform into human form again and crouch into the building right of the truck you just passed. There's a small hole in the wall, see? In here, you will meet the final guardian, Thon. Continue right past the GAME arcade, since you can't do anything there right now, then talk to the guardian named Dorado that is standing close to a sign saying 'Data'. He gives you a [Stuffed Animal] and says that you should head into the room with the Data sign on, since it's a transerver room. Before heading into the transerver room, go a little right and head into the door close to the fountain. In here, transform into X and shoot at the red button to open a gate. At the other side of the gate you will find a pack of energy and E- crystals. Now, run back to the transerver room and make a mission report to earn 200 E - crystals. Good job! Unfortunately, the transerver you are in right now is colored red, as you can see. Red Transervers can only be used to save your game and to handle missions. This means, that you can not transport to the Guardian HQ from here. So, head back to the proper transerver at the beginning of Area C-1 and use the Transport option to go to Area X-1 - The Guardian HQ. =============================================================================== Guardian Headquarters [wa05] =============================================================================== The Guardian HQ is a huge, red airship. Aile didn't expect something like that. Prairie and Giro are both waiting for Aile when she arrives. Aile gives Prairie the computer chips she found during the mission to find Giro, and hands over the stuffed animal she got in the city as well. Giro and Prairie now leave. Head left out of the transerver room. Before going to the Command Center to meet with Prairie again, we will do some Datadisk hunting! Getting Datadisks is completely optional, but you do want to have a look at all the places in the Guardian headquarters, right? Talk to him, then grab [Datadisk O02] from the ground behind him. On your right side, the old man Silure is standing. Talk to him and take the [Datadisk O08] from the ground in front of him. If you look carefully, you'll see signs behind Silure that shows you what kind of places can be found in the right direction, and what kinds of places can be found by going left. Between the two signs, there is an elevator, and a number displaying what floor you are on right now. As you can see, you are currently on Floor 3. You can move the elevator by standing on it and pressing UP and DOWN. Before doing anything else, go to the right end of Floor 3 to find [Datadisk O10], close to the guardian named Scombresoce. Ouch, hard name to remember, isn't it? Now take the elevator up to Floor 4 and talk to the man named Truite. Close to him you will find [Datadisk O13]. Behind Truite, there are two rooms. In the first one, [Datadisk O06] can be found, and in the second one [Datadisk O19] can be found. Also, outside of the second room, you will find a lady named Rose. Close to Rose, take the item that is lying on the floor - [Datadisk O20]. Now go up to Floor 5, which is the highest floor of the Guardian HQ. Once you've reached floor 5, you'll see that there is only one passage, leading left. Go there, open the small gate and talk to Thon outside. Close to him you will find [Datadisk O14]. After grabbing the disk, head down to Floor 2. There's three rooms at the second floor. Head into the westmost room to find [Datadisk O05] behind the guardian named Carrelet, then go into the next room to find [Datadisk O04]. The third room has a disk as well - [Datadisk O01]. Now go to the bottom floor - floor 1. A kid named Sardine is running around with a toy buster down here. Close to him you will find [Datadisk O07]. Take the disk, then run right to the end of the corridor. Open the small gate, run through the door with the purple light in the background, and grab [Datadisk O11] in the rightmost room, where a girl named Cédre is sitting around with a rocket launcher on her back. Now you've got lots of datadisks, haven't you? Head back up to the third floor and go into the lab, just left of the transerver room. Fleuve is waiting for you in his lab, and behind him there is a [Datadisk O15]. Talk to Fleuve. By using the Check Database option, you will get to view all of the Datadisks you've found. There's datadisks with character information, boss information and so on. Collect as many disks as you can! If you try and read a Datadisk that you haven't read earlier, Fleuve will analyze it for you. Exit the lab and go directly left to find the command center. Prairie introduces herself properly, and you get to see some nice artwork. Turns out that Prairie is the leader of all the guardians. Prairie starts telling about a time when the guardians found an old research lab that once belonged to a certain scientist. This was when Prairie's sister vanished. Prairie goes on to explain that Biometal contains the consciousness of legendary heroes - you've already guessed what heroes she's talking about if you're familiar with Mega Man. Once you're back in control, Gyro leaves the command center. Grab the [Datadisk O03] from the floor near Prairie, then open the door close to her to find Prairie's private room. It's filled with toys and a [Datadisk O16]. There is also a doll hanging in the roof, that you can ignore for now. Go back to Fleuve's lab, right of the command center. Fleuve borrows the Biometal Model X and analyzes it, then hands it back to Aile. Afterwards, the alarm starts making noise, and a guard shouts that Mavericks have appeared in Area D! In the command center, Prairie has found out that someone is controlling all of the Mavericks using chips like the ones you found when you were looking for Gyro, trying to make the Maverick outbreaks look random. She thinks the person behind all this is trying to steal Biometal Model X! Aile and Giro both go to Area D now, to try and stop the Mavericks there. =============================================================================== Mavericks Rushing Towards The Human City [wa06] =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area D-1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk E12...............[ ] Datadisk E19.................[ ] | | Life Up....................[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o Make your way right after Gyro has left you. Take out the mounted guns on the moving platforms, and drop down into the gap where there is a red button and a locked gate to find [Datadisk E12]. There is also a [Life Up] down here. Shoot at the red button to open the gate. Behind it is a 1UP and a pack of energy. Jump up from the gap again, take out a mounted gun on the next moving platform and grab [Datadisk E19] from the pillar just below the moving platform. A guardian that has been saved by Gyro is sitting on the ground a little further ahead. Head into the gate near him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area D-2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk E40.................[ ] Datadisk O12.................[ ] | | Datadisk M04.................[ ] Biometal Model ZX............[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o Some rolling enemies can be found in this area, so always be on guard, looking out for them coming towards you. Take out the one attacking at the beginning of the area, then jump over a gap. From here, continue right past three red helicopter type enemies. You will now meet a giant bug type enemy. Charge your X buster and blast it to death to make the bridge you're standing on collapse. It's not dangerous, the collapsing bridge. Wall jump to the top right side of the bridge to find [Datadisk E40], and drop down from where you found this disk to get [Datadisk M04] and some energy. Repeat the process with another bug and collapsing bridge, then continue right to a section where there's several gaps and lots of rolling enemies. Blast the enemies with your buster, and make sure not to fall down when stepping on the scrawny parts of the bridge, close to each and every gap, since these parts will collapse when you step on them. Run further right, fighting off helicopter enemies, rolling enemies and a couple of purple Mavericks. You will find [Datadisk O12] at the other side of the very last gap. Grab the disk and continue right for a scene. Gyro is lying on the ground, surrounded by some mysterious characters. One of them makes Gyro's eyes go crazy. Time to fight him off. The leader of the mysterious gang you saw before the battle appear, and introduces himself as Serpent, president of Slither Inc! This looks bad - such a powerful man! Serpent and his servant Prometheus steal a password code from Aile and Gyro's Biometal models, then they leave. Gyro is badly wounded, but asks his Biometal Model Z to lend its strength to Aile, even if it means that Gyro might die when the Biometal leaves him, since he is so badly wounded. Poor Gyro, lucky Aile. Biometal X and Biometal Z now combine their powers into [Biometal Model ZX], and Megamerge with the lifeless Aile that now wakes up again as Mega Girl - sorry, Mega Man ZX! Now that you are Mega Man ZX, you will have two weapons. One main weapon and one sub weapon. The main weapon is fired with the Y button, and the sub weapon with the R button. You can change main/sub weapon in the main menu. I prefer to have the buster set as main and the saber set to sub myself, but it's up to you. Now, go a little right to see Slither's airship escape. This was what happened with Gyro when he tried to kill Aile. Prairie says that Serpent only has the Model W fragment, and that he does not have the core, which is lying dormant somewhere, waiting to be awakened by the ones that find it. Prairie has also found out that there's six passwords coded into each Biometal fragment, and that these passwords are the key to awaken the Model W core. Of course you won't be careful! You are a Mega Man after all! Mega Men aren't careful at all. Prairie should've known better then this. Well, let's start then. Remember that this time you don't only have the buster to shoot with, but also the saber to slash enemies in two pieces with. Run right, take down the spider that comes from behind of the fence, but make sure to be quick, since the spiders can shoot energy balls towards you. Continue right, take out two purple Mavericks and kill another spider. In the gap below this spider you will find [Datadisk E04]. Make sure to take it with you, then go right. Access the gate just ahead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area E-2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can you see the small gap just in front of the entrance? Don't jump down in places like that, since there is a yellow spark that will damage you if you touch it in there. Jump right, take out a razor blade enemy, then climb down the ladder. Walk carefully to avoid the spinning fan down in the next room, then climb down another ladder. Repeat the process in another fan room, then take down the purple Maverick at the very bottom. Step on the button on the floor to make the fan just left of here move the correct way, so that you won't get damaged when you try and pass it. Climb down a ladder, grab the E-crystals at the bottom, then blow up the razor blades down here. Do not step on the switch on the floor this time, since the fan just ahead is already moving in the correct direction. Walk past the fan, enter the gate to reach Area E-4. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area E-4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk E08...............[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o The enemy just ahead - the short one with the purple top - can only be damaged at the moment it opens the purple cover to shoot at you. Avoid it, or kill it quickly with your saber. Climb to the top of the two ladders ahead, make your way right at the top. There's lots of spinning gears here. Dash-Jump from gear to gear until you reach the other side. Walk right through the hidden passage behind the wall there to find a pack of energy. Above the energy pack, you can also walk into another hidden passage behind the wall to find [Datadisk E08] at the end of a corridor. Close to the disk, there is a door. Go in there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area E-3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area E-3 is a place that does not have to be accessed, and there are no hidden Datadisks here either. There's several spinning conveyor belts here that move at different speeds. Walking on them is not dangerous, just don't fall down into one of the many gaps here. Anyway, at the far right end of the area, at the bottom of the ladder there, you will find a power generator. If you destroy it, all of the traps that have been set out (conveyor belts too) will be disabled. Destroy the generator, and back to the spinning gears in Area E-4. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area E-4 Continued ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Subtank....................[ ] Datadisk E21.................[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o Drop down from the moving gears to reach the bottom. Head right, and drop down to the very bottom again. Here, just right of you, there a enemy shooting green sparks at you from a ledge above you. You can reach the ledge by doing a good Dash Jump, so do that, and grab the [Subtank] behind the enemy. Since this is your very first subtank, I'll tell you what they are good for: if you have a Subtank with empty space in, energy will be stored there. It will only get stored in Subtanks if your energy bar is already filled. So, grabbing energy even if you already have a full energy bar, is actually very smart. You can use Subtanks from the pause menu, when you need to use the energy stored there. Drop down from the ledge where you got the Subtank, and make your way right to find a ladder. At the bottom of the ladder, grab [Datadisk E21] before climbing to the top. The disk is hidden behind some scrap metal that is covering the actual floor you're standing on. You've seen them before if you're familiar with the Mega Man Z series on GameBoy Advance. Prairie thinks that the Mavericks are using the elves to generate power for the facilities. That's why there's so many of them. Make your way right, take down the flying enemy, and drop down into the gap after making sure you won't fall onto the green energy ball-shooting enemy down there, close to the right-most wall. Ignore the cannon at the very bottom, and go right. Climb to the very top of the ladders ahead, and eventually grab the pack of energy that is being guarded by two cannons on your way up to the top. Once you've reached the top of all the ladders, head right to find a section with lots of platforms. Some blue at the bottom, and some red higher up in the air. The red ones will collapse if you step on them, so be quick and Dash Jump from red platform to red platform, until you reach the middle of the room, where [Datadisk M05] can be found on a solid platform. Just right of the disk, behind a green ball-shooting enemy, there is an energy pack, and just right of the energy pack, there are some boxes breakable once you have Model FX in your possession. By breaking the boxes using Model FX you will find [Datadisk E37], but you will have to do that later. Now, drop down to the lower right end of the area, right of the blue platforms mentioned above. Ignore the spiked passage to your right (you can't get in there right now) and jump upwards. Smash the blocks on your right, take out another enemy-releasing foe, then continue running through the corridor until you reach the surface, where a gate is. Once you have gotten Model LX at the end of this level, you can return here, to the surface and smash the ice block on the left wall to get a [Life Up], but right now, you must continue into the gate in the right wall instead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area F-3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o | | | I T E M C H E C K L I S T | | | | Datadisk E48...............[ ] Data Disk 1..................[ ] | | Datadisk E02...............[ ] | | | o--------------------------------------------------------------------------o Aile detects some kind of signal when she enters this area. Watch out for the huge enemies throwing snowballs, and don't go close to any other enemies if you get slowed down by the dust coming from the small flying enemies. There is a energy pack ontop of a ledge in the right end of the room. Now, when you reach the upper part of the area, you will find a door behind some blocks. Jump to the top of the ice blocks near the door to find [Datadisk E48]. Open the door mentioned above, and fight off the bulldozer in here. It fights the same way as the one you fought in the power-plant earlier, but the floor is made of a conveyor belt this time. After you've won over the bulldozer, open the door in the right end of the room. Aile finds a computer in the next room. This is where the distress signal was sent from. There's still a disk in the computer, with a video recording showing some reploids who have found some kind of strange metal - Biometal Model W. The Reploids researched it for a long time, and just when they were about to give up, one of their own members went mad and killed off the whole unit. He then erased the research data, and vanished along with the Biometal. The one that did all this was named Serpent. You know who that is, don't you? Turns out Serpent was a member of The Guardians before. Prairie didn't know about she says, when Aile asks her about it. There is some data missing from the report on the computer though - Aile thinks Slither INC might have the rest of the information. Aile takes the report [Data Disk 1] with her. Head back outside to the main F-3 area. Can you see the blocks on the floor in the upper right end of the area? You can melt those using Model FX's overdrive mode later on. Below them, you will find a door with [Datadisk E02] inside. Now, go all the way back to the area from before the bulldozer battle. Now, after going back to get Datadisk B15 like described in the Area F-4 section, exit right out of the boss room to find a transerver. It comes to live when a smaller Mettaur touches its head. Continue right past two other cranes and climb up the ladder to find the [Datadisk E10]. At the bottom of this ladder, there is a block you can break with Model HX's charge attack as well, so return here and do that later to get [Datadisk M08]. At the top of the ladder again, go right, taking out the pop- shooting enemies on the floor. Climb down the ladder when you reach the right end. Now you'll find yourself outside, with lots of small airships flying around. Now, head left out of the transerver room, climb up the ladder and go right until you reach Area D-1. Now head right until you reach Area D-2, then continue right, past the place where you fought Gyro at the beginning of the game. You will find [Datadisk B04] on the ground, close to a door. Open the door and head inside to find a transerver. Activate it, so that you can transport here to Area D-2 later on. Exit the transerver room by going right to reach Area D-3. Keep going right, jumping over gaps and taking out enemies when they open their shells to shoot. Open the gate in the right end to find another room, still in Area D-3. Below the second gap in this room you will find [Datadisk E06], so make sure to take that one with you. Go right, jump over a gap, then dash jump upwards to find [Datadisk E38] ontop of a roof. Make your way right. Watch out for the bees coming up of the upcoming gap, then continue right to a second gap where bees appear. From here, jump to the top of the skyscraper on the other side of the gap, and make your way right until you meet Maguereau, a guardian. He says that some other Guardians went further ahead. The female escapes. As you can see, this area is built up of several floors. Drop down to the very bottom where a person is standing you can get to him by dropping down from the stairs above him, since there are some flames blocking the passage down on the ground. Talk to the person while in human from to make him escape. Good job. Now head up to floor 5 and talk to the guardian there, to make her escape as well. Note that you are supposed to make them escape -- this is the same as saving them, and they are not escaping from you or anything like that. Pretty weird, but this is how it works. Now, you have saved all the people in this area, so time to enter each separate floor - there is a door on each floor that you can walk into. Before doing that however, head to the upper left corner of the room and take the [Datadisk E16] from the ledge there. Now, Start by going down to Floor 1 and open the door there.
