Introduction [GS01]
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Hey there everybody! This is my first walkthrough for the latest instalment
in my favourite RPG Series Golden Sun. This walkthrough is written for the
latest game, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and I hope it can be of some use to you
all.

This game takes place 30 years after the events of the first 2 Golden Sun
games. You get to control a character called Matthew who is the son of the
protagonist for the first game Isaac. You are originally sent on a quest to
gather a feather from a rare bird but before you know it you are catapulted
into a quest to save Weyard from forces previously unknown to the cast. You
will encounter mysterious Psynergy Vortexes all throughout your journey
alongside your friends Karis and Tyrell who are also children of Ivan and
Garet.

I know this is nowhere near being finished at all but I hope you find what
I have done so far useful.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

-> Matthew [weapon types; Long Swords, Light Blades, Axes and Maces]
Matthew is the main playable character of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and is the
son of both Isaac and Jenna. Just like his father Isaac, Matthew is a Venus
Adept and is also silent for most of the game. He is the character looked
up to as the leader just like his father. People seem to take an instant
liking to Matthew when they meet him.

-> Tyrell [weapon types; Long Swords, Light Blades, Axes and Maces]
Tyrell is a main character of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and is the son of Garet.
Just like his Father Garet, Tyrell is a Mars Adept. He tends to let his
emotions get the better of him as seen throughout the game.

-> Karis [weapon types; Light Blades, limited use of Staffs and Bows]
Karis is a main character of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and is the daughter of
Ivan. Just like her Father Ivan, she is a Jupiter Adept. She is the first

in check and is often called bossy.

-> Rief [weapon types; Staffs and Maces]
Rief is a main character of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and is the son of Mia.
Just like his mother Mia, he is a Mercury Adept. Before joining the party
on their quest, he was travelling with Kraden who is a scholar of Alchemy
and his sister Nowell. He is a quiet person in the group but is also very
knowledgeable due to his travels with Kraden. He helps guide the group when
trapped in the southern region of Angara.

-> Amiti [weapon types; Light Swords, limited use of Staffs and Bows]
Amiti is a playable character in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. He comes from a
city called Ayuthay which is aligned with the element Mercury. Not much is

Adept who unlike all other Jupiter Adepts, she is a physical fighter. Sveta
is a beastman making her the first playable demi-human character in the
Golden Sun Series. Due to her being a beastman, her senses are heightened
which helps the party get through some ruins that they couldnt progress
through.

-> Eoleo [weapon types; Light Blades, Axes and Maces]
Eoleo is a playable character in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. Eoleo is a Mars
Adept who was previously in Golden Sun: The Lost Age as a minor NPC. He is
the son of Briggs, a boss in Golden Sun: The Lost Age. He got his Adept
powers from a Psynergy stone that fell from Mt. Aleph during its eruption.
Both of his parents are not Adepts.

-> Himi [weapon types; Light Blades and Staffs]
Himi is a playable character in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. She is a Venus Adept

Prologue [GS05]
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Long ago, the ancients of Weyard
                    discovered the secrets of Alchemy.

They found that all life in Weyard
was based on the four elements:
                        earth, wind, fire and water.

                       They used their knowledge of
                        Alchemy to forge a dazzling
                      civilization from the elements.

                        And the ancients made their
                         wildest dreams come true.

                            And then began the
                           nightmare of Alchemy.

                      Abuses of Alchemy threatened to
                   tear apart their entire civilization.
So the ancients did the unthinkable:
They sealed away the power of
Alchemy so no one could use it.

                        Civilization was saved, but
                         the physical world itself
began to die a slow death.

                          For the ancients didn't
                          realize that Alchemy was
                         what held Weyard together.

                       Without the force of Alchemy,
lands went barren, seas went dry,
and the planet began to crumble.

                     And civilization itself fell into
the darkest of ages that came
                    before its final, fatal extinction...

                        The ancients had sealed away
                        Alchemy to save civilization.
                         But they had doomed Weyard.

But while the oceans churned and
life on the continent slid slowly
                      toward oblivion over the eons...

A legend was kept alive that held
                       the key to Weyard's survival.

If four Elemental Lighthouses could be
                     ignited, their energy would trigger
the Golden Sun event over Weyard.

The Golden Sun would unleash the
force of Alchemy - saving the world!

Thirty years ago, a group of heroes did
save the world with the Golden Sun.
But now a shadowy threat is spreading...

It has been 30 years since the
	                  Golden Sun event of Weyard,
			The world was saved-and Changed.

Eight heroes took part in the quest
			to light the Elemental Lighthouses.

			   Four of these brave warriors
were from the town of Vale.

The warriors of Vale, as they are
			 known throughout Weyard, are
		       praised-and blamed-for their efforts.

They had long lived at the foot of
Mount Aleph, home to the people charged
with a sacred duty from the ancients.

That was to protect Sol Sanctum,
where the forbidden keys to the
			 Elemental Lighthouses were hidden.

It was also home to the godlike
			 Wise One who protected Weyard.

			Vale kept the sanctums secrets
			 for generations, ever vigilant
			  against the return of Alchemy.

But the Warriors of Vale were
			   among those who pursued the
			  forbidden return of its power.

			   Because of their courage,
			   the world of Weyard was
			   saved 30 years ago...

			But while Weyard was saved,
		         the new dawn of Alchemy
		      has been anything but bright.
		     For while Alchemy brings life,
	             it has also unleashed chaos.

			When the Golden Sun event
		      happened, raw power exploded
from the sky above Mount Aleph.

			Mount Aleph was largely
		       destroyed by the explosion.
And not a trace remains of
		     the peaceful village of Vale.

The planet itself is still caught
in the violent throes of rebirth.
		  Natural disasters continues to
		    torment the people of Weyard.

		      But the survivors live on,
		      driven to new desperation.

And the good people of Vale,
		      though forced to resettle,
                      continue their sacred vigil.

They Persist in their duty to
                        Sol Sanctum at Mount Aleph.
Or at least what remains of it.

		       Two survivors live near the
                        crater where Vale once was.

The area rocks with eruptions, but
still they watch Mount Aleph from
	             the newly upheaved Goma Plateau.

		      Theyre Isaac and Garet, two
		       of the Warriors of Vale.

		   These men, praised and blamed
for the dawn of this new day,
	             study the aftereffects of
	            the new Golden Sun carefully.

	             And from their lookout cabin,
Isaac and Garet also train their
		    children to be powerful warriors.

For this world will soon need
a new generation to face the
	              darkness of this new dawn...

Damn that was one lengthy prologue wasnt it, Shall we begin with the
game?

Walkthrough [GS06]
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This walkthrough will contain slight spoilers but I will try to avoid them
whenever possible. I recommend you play the game yourself first if possible
to avoid possible spoiling. Of course if this is your first time then the
main spoilers will be boss names and locations. You have been warned of
spoilers.

Lookout Cabin [DD01]
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

As soon as the Prologue is finished you are shown a scene circling a house
showing Matthew and Isaac carrying bags back from their presumably long
journey. It is not long before you get a piece of text underlined and
written in red saying the word Matthew or what would be the name if you
had renamed the character. Tap on the word or just press L or R to bring it
up. This will give you a little tutorial on what it does then the sentence
Isaac said will reappear. Once again tap or press L or R to bring up the
encyclopaedia on the top screen. This will give details on the world
highlighted whether it is an item, character, location or anything else. I
recommend that every time you see a new word like this, to read what it
says. It can help you understand functions of a Psynergy or learn about a
new place. Soon enough you will see a new character, Garet as he joins in
the conversation making fun of Isaac in a sense. Just carrying on listening
to the conversation which making sure you look at every new word.

Its not long before the scene shifts to the roof of the house showing 2
other characters, Karis and Tyrell. Karis seems to be scolding Tyrell as he
has taken a device called a soarwing. A little further into the
conversation 4 boxes with different facial expressions appear and you get a
little tutorial on how it works. Choose a face on how you feel, it doesnt
matter which you pick. All that happens is the text gets changed around a
little depending on your response. Isaac and Garet decide to rush to get
the soarwing from Tyrell leaving you alone. Now you get the opportunity to
control your character. I suggest you run around a little to get used to
the controls. To progress with the story all you need to do is run to the
ladders and climb them. Immediately it is decided that you shall be the one
to convince the blockhead to give back the soarwing. Tyrell is ignorant
and doesnt listen to any of you deciding that to fly a soaring all you
need to do is just jump into the wind and act like a bird. Oh yeah sure
because that is going to work just fine. It turns out the soaring requires
psynergy manipulation to control it; even wind adepts need special training
to properly fly it. I wonder what makes Tyrell he thinks he can naturally
do it. Tyrell just jumps of and of course, the second he starts flying he
realises that he will gradually fall like everybody warned him. Isaac
instructs Tyrell to fly to a cave past the forest and to wait for him there.
So with the promise that we are all on our way he flies off and we all
prepare to go brave the forest to rescue him, oh joy.

Once you are inside the house getting your gear ready, Karis will come and
pass you a LEATHER CAP. You get shown a little tutorial on how to equip
weapons and armour and then she will show you how to save you game, like it
is hard in the first place. Now you need to gather two more pieces of
equipment before she lets you leave. In the chest is a SHORT SWORD so equip
that then climb the ladder to the next floor. In one of the book cases in
this house is SUN SAGA 1 so make sure you collect it. Now head up the
stairs for a chest that contains PADDED GLOVES, equip this to. Once youve
done all this go talk to Karis and she will join your party. To make this
happen you dont actually need to collect the SUN SAGA 1, I just suggest
you collect it anyway. Once you leave the house you will notice in the pots
to the left is a HERB, grab it and be on your way to the right for a scene.

Make your way all the way to the right till you reach a cave entrance,
Isaac will appear and tell you to enter the cave so do as he says and walk
inside. Walk a little inside and Isaac and Garet will come inside and warn
you about monsters and then you will be flung into your first battle. Its
nothing you cant handle so dispatch the enemies and be done with it. Now
follow the only path available to you getting by any obstacles until you
reach a pillar blocking your path. Anybody who has played a Golden Sun game
before will know what to do here but if you dont use the Move Psynergy.
Doing this will prompt a scene with Isaac and Garet giving you an
explanation of Psynergy. Now use Move on it once more to push it over.
Jump over all gaps until you reach a Psynergy stone. Touching this will
restore all lost PP which is handy. Head outside the cave and follow the
path around, move the pillar and then make your way towards another scene.
After the scene make your way up into Tanglewood.

Straight away you will be given a Djinn tutorial on how to use them in
battle and such. After this Isaac and Garet will join your group as NPCs,
if you have ever played Final Fantasy XII then think of them as Guest
Characters. They give you 6 Djinn to use, 3 Mars and 3 Venus. Immediately
head north then right at the first crossroad you reach. You will see a pond,
ignore the first path then head to the second. Make your way across the
pond for a HERB. After opening the chest head directly north into a new
area. Make your way to the northeast in the area for another chest with a
BRAMBLE SEED inside it. When you move around this spot a scene will start
where Garet gains a magical sixth sense and thinks something is wrong here,
whatever gave him that idea do you think? Go north as far as you can then
make your way back around to the path trying to make your way north. It
seems that one root blocks both paths. Start walking back to where you see
a red flower and another scene starts. Turns out its the flowers causing
the roots that stopping your way and the Fireball psynergy destroys them.
You can always just go burn them yourself by having 1 Mars Djinn on Matthew
then using fireball on them before the scene. Now go north and use
Fireball on the red flower to remove more roots clearing you path into
the next area.

In the next area start making your way south east then head to the south
west side of the map heading over the green walls as needed. You will soon
reach a red flower, you know the drill. Use fireball on it to remove some
roots, you may as well just set fireball to L or R. Now make your way
northeast until you see a wiggling plant, cast Growth on it to make it
transform into vines you can climb up. Once up there destroy the red flower
allowing you access to the next area.

In the next area make sure you push both of the pillars into the water then
head to the chest on the right for an ELIXIR. Head north through the puzzle
in the water and use move on the Pillar to allow you to get access to the
plant there. Pull the pillar into the water then use Growth on the plant
next to the wall. Once you get up there you see a scene about the broken
soarwing then you head inside the cave.

As soon as you enter make your way into the next area. Once there, head
right to find a vine and cast Growth on it. Climb the vine then make your
way around the path into a new area involving a scene with a Psynergy votex.
Garet destroys all of the red flowers in this area apart from one as the
third one is behind the vortex which absorbs all Psynergy. Make your way
around the path until you see a vine blocked by some roots, cast Growth
and then head on above the vine so you can climb down. Get as close to the
red flower as you can but wait, doesnt this one seem a little different?
Heal up and then save before casting Fireball at this plant. You are then
thrown into a boss battle.

This is not a hard battle at all, in fact its very straight forward. As
long as your characters HP levels are above 40 at the very least then you
have this in the bag. Just do a full on assault with either physical
attacks or djinns. If you are to use Djinns then use Mars Djinn, Garet is
likely to use one of his so on the first turn if you have both Karis and
Matthew use a Mars Djinn each then youll have 3 ready to summon Tiamat
the next turn. Tiamat is essentially a one hit kill on this boss so you
shouldnt lose.
\-------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Once the battle is done make your way to Tyrell who is still unconscious to
have a scene occur. After the scene has finished head left to go outside
for to collect the soaring which results in another long scene. You are now
sent on an official journey since Tyrell broke the soarwing we need it
replaced. You are to go collect a mountain roc feather to replace the one
in the soarwing that Tyrell broke, sounds easy enough. Head outside to the
Goma Plateau and use the path south which we couldnt use before.

Once on the world map you will see a Venus Djinn head down to accompany you,
oh what do you know its Flint. After a little scene he joins you and you
acquire your first Djinn, VENUS DJINN FLINT. Head to your west and you
will see a little settlement on the map, this is Patchers Place so head
inside.

Immediately go to the west to find some coins in a barrel. After doing that
head into the store for a scene focused around Patcher and Tyrell, it seems
Tyrell practically burnt down this store once before and since then Patcher
hasnt forgiven him. Ah well we get to stay in and buy supplies so it
doesnt matter. There is a chest behind the counter which you can reach
which has POWER BREAD inside of it, use it on whoever you wish. If you talk
to Patcher from across the counter he will tell you what each sign means.
There is the Item shop, Inn, Armor shop and the weapon shop. Now what I
recommend is to sell the Psy Crystal you got from Tangle Bloom. It should
easily fund your equipment for each character, a stay at the inn and 30
herbs for each character. If you dont wish to do that then feel free to go
outside and grind for money although it is not needed with the Psy Crystal.
Now go west and enter the lowest door to find a barrel with a HERB inside
of it. Head back to the main room and go up the stairs and head right to go
outside. Outside is a barrel with an ELIXIR inside of it and in the door to
the right there is a pot with an ANTIDOTE inside of it; they sure love
hiding items dont they. Now to go the north-west side of town and enter
the house there, inside check the bookcases for SUN SAGA 2. South from the
house should be a barrel with a SMOKE BOMB inside of it, once again with
the hiding. In the house underneath Patchers main building, there are some
coins in the right dresser. You may wish to use Growth on the nearby
plant to make yourself a shortcut. If you talk around town you can find
some new entries for your encyclopaedia which you may want to pick up,
Lord McCoy and Konpa Ruins. Lets head to the Psynergy training grounds
at the top of town shall we, you will need to climb up the rock wall.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Psynergy Training Grounds [DD06]
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Now you may see plenty of kids playing around trying to practice their
psynergy here but that is not what we are here for. You may have seen a
Mars Djinn while exploring town, that is what we are after and we are going
to get it. First things first move the far right pillar to the left using
Move. Now move the pillar to the right of the tree to be aligned with the
Tree and other Pillar and you will also want to move the pillar on the left
side of the tree round to the right side to fit in the middle. Now you have
one big path to use to get to the Mars Djinn so climb the tree and jump
across. Now youre on the ledge, run all the way to the right and then jump
onto the tree and climb down. Head south and you will see a vine hanging
there, cast Growth and climb down it. You are not situated right next to
the Djinn so go ahead and feel free to just grab it, MARS DJINN FORGE.
That Djinn looks so cool as it has its own little cape, wouldnt you agree.
Now climb back up and talk to the man at the gate to the north of the
training grounds. You can choose Tips? if you want to see the course a
little early but you may as well just get it over and done with. You are
given 10 minutes per area and there are 4 areas. 10 minutes is more than
enough time so lets go.

=====================
Mercury Lighthouse
=====================

First things first, if its not already set Fireball to L or R as you will
be using that a lot. Dont worry about running out of Psynergy as it
recovers a lot faster in here than outside so just run around a little and
you will be good as new. If at any time you wish to leave the training
grounds then step on a red circle and it gives you the option to leave,
simple enough for you? Good now lets go.

Run straight up and cast Fireball at the picture of what appears to be a
slime, this will make the bridge fall. Now run across the bridge and push
the log to the right so it gets stuff on the Pillar. Now run up close and
use Move on the pillar to push it to the right. Push the log again to the
right and now push the log above you into the water up top to get past.
Climb up the tree and use Fireball on the picture of Trent to lower the
next bridge. Run across the bridge and push both pillars of the holes next
to them to make the middle fountain go higher. Wait for the water to
disappear then stand on the fountain ready to be fired up. Once on top get
as close as you can then use Fireball on the picture of Saturos. Thats
the first trial completed, well done only 3 more left.

=====================
Venus Lighthouse
=====================

You may wish to read the signs to get some more entries into your
encyclopedia; Venus Lighthouse, Gondowan and Mercury Lighthouse. With
your new 10 minutes on the clock shall we get going?

You want to use Whirlwind on the First, Second and last wind-vane to
change the track to allow you to get through. After that jump into the cart
and it will take you to the end of the tracks. After that read the sign for
more words, Kraken and Karagol Sea. What you want to do is use
Fireball on both of the tentacles and then the Krakens head. People who
have played the first 2 Goldens Suns will notice that you are doing what
you did on the first 2 games essentially, going from lighthouse to
lighthouse and the fireball targets are bosses. Defeating the Kraken
results in the platform you could see underwater to raise allowing you to
carry on. Jump over all gaps until you reach the lighthouse. You need to
cast Growth on the vine to allow you to actually climb the lighthouse, if
only it was this simple in the previous games. You want to climb the vine
and then cast Fireball on both Saturos and Menardi and that will be that
stage complete. Time for the Golden Sun: The Lost Age Areas.

=====================
Jupiter Lighthouse
=====================

Talk to the signs once more for some more words; Jupiter Lighthouse,
Indra, Osenia, Piers, Lemuria, Poseidon and Gabomba Statue.
Sheesh we are getting a lot arent we. Now that is done run up the stairs
and cast Whirlwind on the wind-vane to open the Gabomba Statues mouth
which will send out its tongue allowing us to pass. Now head right and
what you will notice is gusts of air being blown out and pillars that you
can move. It should be obvious what you need to do, use Move on the
pillars to block the gusts of air allowing safe passage. Now head right for
some Platforming action which is all good fun and all but we have a time
limit here. What you want to do is reach the 3 different pillars and move
them allowing the buttons underneath them to rise. This works allows you to
activate all 3 prongs of the Trident which was needed to lower Poseidons
shield in Golden Sun: The Lost age. This lowers the Shield which is in
the form of water fountains allowing you to defeat Poseidon and his pesky
hands causing the platform to your right to arise allowing passage to the
Jupiter Lighthouse. Stand at the base of the lighthouse and use Whirlwind
on the windmill to send a gust of air from under you carrying you to the
lighthouse summit. Now all that is left to do is cast Fireball on Karst and
Agatio. 3 down 1 to go.

=====================
Mars Lighthouse
=====================

Final Lighthouse time and some more signs giving you some more history
along with more words, Mars Lighthouse and Anemos. Not nearly as much
as last time but well take what we can get. Melt the Ice pillar in front
of you then proceed to melt the two ice pillars in the dragons head you
can reach. Now head left and push the wooden log allowing passage up to the
stairs where you can melt the 3rd and final ice pillar aligning all the
blocks in the Dragons head. Now go push the wooden log to the right in the
water allowing you to pass by over the water onto where some stairs are.
You need to use Whirlwind in front of the Turbine otherwise it doesnt
work. Doing this brings out the stairs which allow you to pass over the
dragons head onto where some flames are being fired at you. You need to use
the Pillar to defend yourself against the flames just like a puzzle from
the Actual Lighthouse. Now you want to melt all 3 ice pillars here just
like in the first section of this area then cast Growth on the vine and
climb up before the fire hits you. Now proceed to burning the faces off of
Karst and Agatio once more but wait whats this? There is a moving 3 headed
wooden dragon behind them; I wonder what on earth this could resemble.

Now this boss personally made me laugh like hell when I first saw it as
it is a wooden replica of the final boss from Golden Sun: The Lost Age.
Luckily its not as hard and doesnt have the same moves; just thinking
of this having Cruel Ruin scares me. This boss has some multi target
attacks such as Sizzle Breath or Pebble Breath which may scare you at
first but do not worry, they do seriously low damage so your fine. He
can curse you which damages you when you take a turn. Just attack him
with Djinns and physical attacks and heal when needed and this shall be
done in no time.
\-------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Both boxes have the same reward so pick either and get the GATE CARD. This
is actually essential to carry on with the story so its a good job youve
got it now instead of later. Now if you wish you can take on this place
again but it is slightly harder, the time limits are shorter and Dim Dragon
has more hp and a new paint job and from my experience does slightly more
damage to but you also get a new item.
