The jacks are arranged in alphabetical order left to right, starting with the upper left jack as "A". Rotate the wheel clockwise to increase the numbers (Right on D-pad+), counterclockwise to decrease the numbers (Left on D-pad+). Tap the center button labeled "PUSH" to input a number (A button). Tap the jack panel on the left side of the screen to delete a number (B button). Search System- Tap the swirly icon (X button) below the briefcase icon to activate the search system. A yellow >>>> will flash across the screen and a yellow square will appear if there is a puzzle in the area. The number of times you can search is indicated by the number on the swirly icon. It decreases by 1 each time you use the search. It recharges by 1 for every 100 steps you take. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ======================= III. Walkthrough [WK00] ======================= This section of the guide will contain spoilers. The walkthrough will tell you where to go and what to do step by step. Following the walkthrough will give you the solution to every puzzle in the game. If you want the solution to a certain puzzle without plot spoilers scroll down to the Hints or Solutions section. The game calls each day on the island a "Request", so I will do the same. You can replay a Request from the main menu. After you complete the Request, you will be sent back to the title screen. Any steps you take and puzzles you solve can be saved to your game file, even if you don't complete the entire Request. Don't revisit a previous Request until you finish the one you're currently doing, or you will lose your progress for that Request. Once you see Edo save your game at the end of the Request, you know it's safe to revisit a previous Request. ====================== Solving Puzzles [WK01] ====================== There are two kinds of puzzles in the game. The Story Puzzles are required to complete the game, and the Lost & Found Puzzles are optional. If you input the correct solution to a puzzle, the word HIT will appear on-screen. If you input the wrong solution to a puzzle, the word BLANK will appear on-screen. ==================== Story Puzzles [WK02] ==================== The Story Puzzles typically involve jacking into one of the hotel's residents to solve their problems. The clues to Story Puzzles are found in the guidebook or by asking the hotel's residents. Keep in mind that green text in the guidebook is often used for hints. The complete list of Story Puzzles can be found inside Catherine under the Goods button, under the color turquoise. =========================== Lost & Found Puzzles [WK03] =========================== The Lost & Found Puzzles involve the missing items hidden throughout the game. You can find Lost & Found Puzzles by using the search system (press X). When you complete a Lost & Found Puzzle, you will receive a ticket for a missing item. Bring these tickets to Edo at the front desk (to the left of the bell), and you will be able to view that item inside Catherine in the Goods screen, under the color purple. The clues to Lost & Found Puzzles are found in the Lost & Found list located in your bedroom near the TV. The words next to each clue number on the in-game list refer to the missing item you receive for that ticket. Each Lost & Found Puzzle will only be available on a specific Request. The numbers "1, 2, 3" found on the jars on the jack-in screen match the numbered clues found in the Lost & Found list. NOTE: For clarity's sake, when I refer to a puzzle for the first time I will include the number assigned to it on the Goods screen inside parentheses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 00 [RQ00] ================= After your introduction to the main character Sumio Mondo, you end up in a parking lot. Near your car is a Lost & Found list. This list explains how the Lost & Found system works and also gives the first Lost & Found clues. Check the Lost & Found list for the clues. The closest Lost & Found Puzzle (# 03) is by the passenger door of your car (the blue car). The jar with a "3" on the jack-in screen lets you know that this puzzle uses the third clue from the Lost & Found list. This clue refers to the number of cars parked in the parking lot. Take a quick run around the parking lot and you find that there are 7 cars in the parking lot. By your car door, tap the ! icon to start the jack-in sequence. Drag the Type-H (green) jack into the socket. Every Lost & Found Puzzle uses the Type-H (green) jack. Input the correct solution and the word "HIT" appears on-screen. The next Lost & Found Puzzle (#01) in this area is near the closed gate at the opposite end of the parking lot from where you entered. The closed gate has a pillar on each side, with upside down babies on top of each pillar. You really can't miss it. This Lost & Found Puzzle is on the tail end of the grey truck parked nearby the closed gate. The first clue asks you how many tires a truck has. Conveniently enough, there is a grey truck parked right in front of you! Count the number of tires on each side of the truck to get the solution 6. Talk to the man, named Peter, standing near the front of the grey truck. Peter asks you to jack-in to him, which is your first Story Puzzle (#01). Peter wants you to input your birthday in DD/MM format. Sumio tells you look on page 13 of the manual for his birthday, but it's actually left blank. You need to make up a birthday, or you can use your actual birthday. It really doesn't matter. Use the Type-C (dark green) jack. Completing this puzzle brings up another problem: Peter forgot the code to open up the gate. Before you solve that puzzle, solve the final Lost & Found Puzzle. The final Lost & Found Puzzle (#02) in this area is on the pillar to the right of the closed gate (the pillar without a grey panel). The second clue mentions twins who have finally reached adulthood. You need to combine the age of the twins when they reached adulthood. This Japanese game naturally uses the Japanese age of adulthood, which is 20. Combining the ages gives you the solution 40. Go to the left pillar for the second Story Puzzle (#02). Sumio says the upside down babies symbolize reversed birthdays. To reverse the birthday you read the number from right to left rather than left to right. If that doesn't make sense to, you could hold your DS up to a mirror to see the reverse image. Use the Type-D (blue) jack. After a lengthy drive, you finally arrive at the Hotel Flower, Sun, and Rain. Follow the path until you reach the hotel and do not take the side path. Once you enter the hotel, go to the reception desk on the right side of the room. Edo, the hotel manager, takes you to your room. He informs you that your purpose on the island is to stop a terrorist. A cutscene then plays. A screen with Edo appears after the cutscene. He comments on your arrival and saves the game for you, which marks the end of Request 00. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 01 [RQ01] ================= You start the day with a wake up call from Edo. Once you finish your morning coffee, check the Lost & Found list for Lost & Found Puzzle clues. The Lost & Found list is in your bedroom, on a desk near the TV. The closest Lost & Found Puzzle (#04) is in your hotel room. Go to the painting to the left side of the TV in your bedroom. The first clue displays a word on one side of an = sign, with a series of numbers on the other side. The key in this clue is the special font used. Each letter in this font is made of solely straight lines. By analyzing each letter, you can see the series of numbers matches the number of right angles in each letter. The letter "L" has no right angles, the letter "O" has 4 right angles, and so on. Applying this method to the second word gives us: L = 0 right angles U = 2 right angles N = 2 right angles A = 6 right angles T = 4 right angles I = 0 right angles C = 2 right angles S = 4 right angles This gives the solution 02264024. Leave the bedroom and go into the entryway of your room. The next Lost & Found Puzzle (#06) is in the washroom to your left. Walk up to the left mirror. The third clue requires you to do what Sumio just did, except in real life this time. Hold your DS up to a mirror and you see the solution is 2354. Go back to the entryway and try to open the front door. You're locked inside! Return to your bedroom and you find that the room is now entirely different. The final Lost & Found Puzzle (#05) is in this room. Check the desk near the door. The second clue refers to the cards in a poker deck, A for Ace, J for Jack, Q for Queen, K for King. The A has a value of 1, the lowest. The K has a value of 13, the highest. Adding the letters in the third equation of this clue gives the solution 37. Now, it's time to solve the mystery of this room. Walk to the corner of the room and a painting falls off the wall. A peephole was behind the painting. Look through the peephole to meet Sue and Sister Phantom. They inform you of the curse your room has. Examine the chair and camera found on opposite sides of the room. Go back to the peephole and Sue offers to help you. Reexamine the chair and camera, then return to the peephole. After Sue's little nap, she tells you to check the guidebook for a picture of a chair and camera. Turn to page 37 in your guidebook. Page 37 features a picture of a woman sitting in the same chair the camera is facing right now. Could this woman be the spirit mentioned earlier? The description of this picture has details on the camera settings used when this picture was taken. Entering these settings into the proper format gives the solution 400567501. Examine the camera again to solve this Story Puzzle (#03). Use the Type-H (green) jack. Your bedroom is now back to normal. Exit your hotel room to find Sue waiting for you. Once Sister Phantom leaves, you end up back in your hotel room. Answer your phone, then talk to Sue again. You gain control of Toriko on her search for Christina (the pink crocodile). Exit your hotel room and watch the cutscene to close out Request 01. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 02 [RQ02] ================= You start the day with a wake up call from Edo. Once you finish your morning coffee, check the Lost & Found list for Lost & Found Puzzle clues. The Lost & Found list is in your bedroom, on a desk near the TV. Answer the phone for your introduction to Stephan. He asks you to find his suitcase. Leave your hotel room. The closest Lost & Found Puzzle (#08) is at the farthest end of the hallway from your hotel room. Look in the left corner. The second clue asks how fast Mati and Sue could clean a hallway together. To solve this puzzle you need to set up a formula. Sue cleans at a rate of 1/30 (1/30 of the hallway each minute), and Mati cleans at a rate of 1/20 (1/20 of the hallway each minute). Combine the two and you get the equation 1/30 + 1/20 = 1/X. You need to solve for X now. Multiply each side of the equation by X to get X/30 + X/20 = 1. Multiply X/30 by 2 to get 2X/60. Multiply X/20 by 3 to get 3X/60. Now you can add the two fractions to get 5X/60 = 1. Multiply each side of the equation by 60 to get 5X = 60. Divide by 5 and you get X = 12. The solution is 12 minutes. Go through the double doors near the "4F" sign to enter the 4F stairwell. Talk to the maid, Mati. Mati will take care of Stephan's bag, so head to the roof. Answer the phone for more of Stephan's blathering. Talk to the woman on the sun beds near the pool, Yayoi. Check the bed to the left of Yayoi for Lost & Found Puzzle (#09). Lost & Found 44 gives the hotel sign model, which you need to examine for this puzzle. Once you have the sign model, look at it in the Goods screen (L & R rotate, X & Y zoom). The third clue says that the roof sign was just given energy saving light bulbs. These new bulbs save "two Lebanese pounds per light bulb per night." You need to find exactly how much the hotel will be saving in a single night with these new light bulbs. There are 124 light bulbs on the sign. I don't know why Lebanese pounds are used here. Regardless, you will be saving two pounds per light bulb, so 124 * 2 = 248. Speak to Edo in the mini-bar. Guidebook pages 42 and 43 contain information on soccer systems. Talk to Yayoi, and then Edo again for more details on soccer systems. Exit the mini-bar out the back door (the door farthest away from the pool). Turn to the left and run until you are at the corner of the roof. The next Lost & Found Puzzle (#07) is in this corner. The first clue asks how many 1x2x4 cubes can fit into a 10x10x10 container. Multiply 1 x 2 x 4 to get the volume 8 cubic cm. Multiply 10 x 10 x 10 for the volume 1000 cubic cm. You need to find how many of the 8 cubic cm cubes fit into the 1000 cubic cm container, so do 1000 / 8 = 125. However, the actual number of cubes you can fit into the container is less than the theoretical number. With this knowledge in mind, the solution is 124. Go to Room 404 to solve the next Story Puzzle (#04). The soccer ball case is on a table in Stephan's bedroom. Edo and the guidebook mention the Italian soccer team Viemonte will use a 3-4-1-2 formation. Considering Stephan's love of the Italian language, it's no surprise that he is a fan of the Italian soccer team Viemonte. This means the solution is 3412. Use the Type-I (purple) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 03 [RQ03] ================= You start the day with a wake up call from Edo. Once you finish your morning coffee, check the Lost & Found list for Lost & Found Puzzle clues. The Lost & Found list is in your bedroom, on a desk near the TV. Attempt to head down to the lobby and you meet Mr. Crasher. Talk to Edo again, and then go to the 3F hallway. Turn left and you find Lost & Found Puzzle (#11) on a table between two plants. The second clue has two words, with a set of matching numbers for each. The numbers represent the letters' place in the alphabet. So to find what EL is, you count out that E is the 5th letter of the alphabet, and L is the 12th. This gives you the answer 512. Head to Room 304 and check the closet (double doors in the entryway) for Lost & Found Puzzle (#12). The third clue requires you to make a code, instead of break a code. The name of the hero of Lospass is found on page 38 of the guidebook. The hero's name is Lumberjack, so you need to arrange the letters in the key into his name. This gives you the answer 25743610. Go into the bedroom. Examine the TV and magazine sitting on the table. Since the legendary wrestler isn't here after all, report back to Edo on the roof. On your way to the mini-bar, stop by the table on the right hand side closest to the doorway for Lost & Found Puzzle (#10). The first clue asks you to put a 1 for true or a 0 for false. Edo is actually your client, so the first number is 0. Sister Phantom was supposedly able to talk with ghosts, so the second number is 1. Stephan always talks about soccer, not baseball, so the third number is 0. I'm honestly not sure how you find the answer for the last number, but it's 0. Edo tells you to visit Mr. Pirate in Room 302, so head back down there. Once you find the room is locked, you can go to Room 304 and call Room 302. Or, if you really want to, you can go back to Edo and have him tell you to go to Room 304 and call Room 302. And then do that. Anyway, this brings you to the next Story Puzzle (#05). Page 23 in the guidebook tells you to dial the room number, so the solution is 302. Use the Type-B (orange) jack. Return to the roof and you find Mr. Pirate by the pool. He tells you to remind Crasher of a death match. Page 39 of the guidebook says the last time Crasher had a death match was 210. Find Crasher in the stairwell to complete Story Puzzle (#06). Go back to the roof and talk to the wrestlers. Use the Type-A (dark purple) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 04 [RQ04] ================= You start the day with a wake up call from Edo. Once you finish your morning coffee, check the Lost & Found list for Lost & Found Puzzle clues. The Lost & Found list is in your bedroom, on a desk near the TV. Make your way down to the lobby and this time you'll get stopped in the 2F stairwell. After meeting the drunk, named Maria, go into the 2F hallway. Run right until you reach Lost & Found Puzzle (#14) in a plant near a table. The second clue mentions that there is a wide selection of cocktails available. Count how many cocktails are shown on page 31 of the guidebook and you get the answer 6. Go through the open doorway and down to the "Power Dinner" restaurant. The corner of the table farthest from the door has Lost & Found Puzzle (#13). The first clue suggests you count the chairs in the restaurant. There are 3 tables with 4 chairs each, so the solution is 12. Talk with Stephan at the table. Talk with Locke 3 times to move on to the first part of Story Puzzle (#07). Page 31 of the guidebook shows the ingredients for a Silver Bullet cocktail are 401010. Use the Type-H (green) jack for both parts of Maria's puzzle. Talk to Maria, then return to the bar. Talk to Locke, then Stephan for some fourth wall breaking madness. Talk to Locke twice to complete the second part of Story Puzzle (#07). Since she wants to "taste August" make her a Summer Feeling cocktail. The ingredients for the Summer Feeling cocktail as listed on page 31 are 45201010. Talk to Maria, then talk to Stephan by the bar again. Head up to Room 407. Check the table next to her bed for Lost & Found Puzzle (#15). The third clue says a woman tried each of the cocktails and got drunk. Add the temperatures found under each cocktail (page 31) to get the answer 133. Check Maria's PC for Story Puzzle (#08). Look at page 31 again to find the Earthquake cocktail. The temperature, which is 37, is the answer. Use the Type- F (red) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 05 [RQ05] ================= You start the day with a wake up call from Edo. Once you finish your morning coffee, check the Lost & Found list for Lost & Found Puzzle clues. The Lost & Found list is in your bedroom, on a desk near the TV. The nearest Lost & Found Puzzle (#16) can be found in your hotel room. Exit your bedroom and turn left into the washroom. Open the double doors into the bathroom. The puzzle is on the corner of the bathtub closest to the toilet. The first clue asks you to alter the Grasshopper cocktail's ingredients. Find the recipe for the Grasshopper cocktail on page 31. Reducing the Peppermint Green by 10ml and increasing the fresh cream by 10ml makes the recipe 15ml, 20ml, 25ml. This gives you the solution 152025. Head down to the lobby for real this time. Talk to Edo, then to the men on the couch. After talking to Sonny Balboa, go to the bar near the couches for Lost & Found Puzzle (#18). The third clue asks you for the running time of he Balboa Brothers' debut movie. Find the description of their movie on page 33. The running time is listed near the top of the article after the Balboa Brothers' names. It is 1 hour and 32 minutes. Converting the running time from hours and minutes into just minutes gives you 92 minutes. Find Edo again, at his reception desk on the opposite side of the room. Check the pad to the left of the bell to get your items from the Lost & Found. Ring the bell itself twice. Edo tells you to visit Yayoi on the roof for more information on the brothers. Go to the first set of sun beds on the left side of the roof for Lost & Found Puzzle (#17). The second clue requires you to count the sun beds on the roof. There 4 sets of 2 beds, so the solution is 8. Yayoi tells you that Tabs is known for talking very fast. Return to the brothers downstairs. Sonny tells you Tabs needs his afro wig to talk fast. Ring the bell for Edo, and he advises you to ask Sue for her mop. Sue is in the 2F stairwell. Sue says that Mati can tell you more about the mop. Mati is in the 4F hallway. Talk to Sue again for Story Puzzle (#09). Page 41 says the counter will only come off at 10000 steps. Since the counter is currently at 0221 (ignore the picture in the guidebook), you need 9779 more steps to remove the counter. Use the Type-E (yellow) jack. Sonny needs you to shrink the speakers next. Talk to Edo, then go to the right speaker for Story Puzzle (#10). Page 35 shows you how the speakers work. The first digit is for the mode, and the second digit is for the size. Use 5 for the first digit, since you want to keep the speakers in their current shape. Use 1 for the second digit, since you want to shrink the speakers' size. Use the Type-I (purple) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 06 [RQ06] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Head down to the lobby and go to the jukebox? (too ugly to tell) by the bar for Lost & Found Puzzle (#19). The first clue asks you for the opus number of Dvorak's symphony "From The New World", which is 95. Talk to Edo, then exit out the front doors. After hearing Stephan's insanity, go check Yayoi on the roof. Lost & Found Puzzle (#21) is in the corner of the roof's hangout/bar opposite from the actual mini-bar itself. The third clue asks you for the name of the Lospass Mob's Goalkeeper, which is found at the bottom of page 43. The goalkeeper is Kinsky, and the clue says Kinsky = 3. Return to Edo at the front desk. Go to Room 404 to search for the antidote. When you enter Stephan's bedroom, check the pot to your left for Lost & Found Puzzle (#20). The second clue refers to each hotel guest's room number. Your room number is 402, and Stephan's is 404. You're supposed to add a number to 402 to get 404, so the solution is 2. Check Yayoi on the bed, then answer the phone. Walk across the room to Stephan's PDA, so you can answer the phone again. Go to the PDA for Story Puzzle (#11). The guidebook page Stephan refers to is page 47. Here you find directions which go with the picture in the background (tap CHANGE). Since your lucky number is 7, start at the black square with 7 on it. Head east to 8 and 9. Head south to 6 and 3. Restart from 1 and head northeast to 5 and 9. Head west to 8 and finally 7 again. Put all these numbers together and you get the solution 7896315987. Use the Type-F (red) jack. Check Yayoi, then return to the PDA. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 07 [RQ07] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Drop by Room 304 and check the table near the TV in the bedroom for Lost & Found Puzzle (#23). The second clue features the name ???PASS ISLAND upside down. Writing in the letters "LOS" is easy enough, but you need a number. Since the clue is upside down, look at your handwritten "LOS" upside down to get the solution 507. Head for the outdoor bridge again, and stop by Edo's desk on the way. After the fun cutscene, talk to the brat, Shoutaro. Talk to Edo again. He tells you to check with Sue in the 2F stairwell. Sue tells you to check with Crasher on 3F. Talk to Pirate near where you awoke. Yayoi is staying in room 204 (Edo would say this if you visited him again, but you aren't missing much by skipping straight to Yayoi.) She mentions a place you always return to, which is your hotel room. Stop by Yayoi's washroom before you leave for Lost & Found Puzzle (#22). The first clue says to turn a faucet "two full turns." Turning it once would be 360 degrees, so twice gives the solution 720. Go back to your hotel room and check the closet. Shoutaro will pop out and run into your bedroom. Check the emptied closet for Lost & Found Puzzle (#24). The third clue notes that Sumio hasn't changed his clothes since coming to the island. People usually change their clothes every day. Since you haven't changed your clothes here for eight days now, the solution is 8. Go to your bedroom and talk to Shoutaro again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 08 [RQ08] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Go to the roof door for Lost & Found Puzzle (#25). The first clue mentions the ratio between circumference and diameter, which is Pi. The solution is only 10 digits, so truncate Pi down to 10 digits for the solution 3141592653. Talk to Edo, then head out the front gate. Turn right to go to the church. Check the first palm tree on the right side of the church for Lost & Found Puzzle (#27). The second clue asks how many rooms are in the hotel, written from a maid's point of view. You need to list the number of rooms on each floor, from the first floor to the roof. Since the maid only cleans the guest rooms daily, those will be the only rooms that count. With that in mind, check pages 22 and 23 for a listing of every room in the hotel. The first floor has 0 guest rooms, 2F has 4, 3F has 8, 4F has 7, 5F has 0, roof has 0. Put them together for the solution 048700. Talk to the woman, Yuuri, who is sitting on a bench. Yuuri wants you to talk with Seiji who is in the church. Seiji wants you to tune the organ, but before you do that check the candles to the right of the altar for Lost & Found Puzzle (#26). The second clue mentions changing each candle in the Canadelcazett Church. There are 6 candles on each side of the altar, so the solution is 12. After talking with Seiji, check the organ for Story Puzzle (#12). Page 11 has the traditional organ setting 004432000. Use the Type-I (purple) jack. Exit the church and talk to Yuuri. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 09 [RQ09] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Talk to Edo. Head toward the road, but stop by the church gate for Lost & Found Puzzle (#28). The first clue asks what year Canadelcazett Church was remodeled. Page 10 tells you that the year was 1954. Turn left onto the road and keep going until you meet Ken the bike messenger. Ken needs you to fix his bike's gears, so that means it's time for Story Puzzle (#13). Page 40 tells you to divide the front gear by the rear gear to get the gear ratio. 48 / 15 = 3.2 so the solution is 32. Use the Type-H (green) jack Make your way past the diner and follow the road all the way to the end to find Lost & Found Puzzle (#29). The second clue asks when the two highways on Lospass were completed. Page 18 says they were completed 15 years ago. Go back to the diner and talk to Ken. He wants you to check up on Mati at the hotel. Talk to Mati and she tells you to take the jetty on Power Beach. Hug the left rail of the road until you see a pier on the beach. Go to the end of the pier and a jetty will take you to Eleki Island. Go ahead until you reach a big two-story building with a dish on top. Check the corner of the building closest to the electrical pylons for Lost & Found Puzzle (#30). The third clue requires you to crack the diagrams. The middle number is found by adding the outer numbers together. Add 1 + 4 + 9 + 18 = 32. Walk to the electrical pylons to start the six part Story Puzzle (#14). Sumio mentions "psychological warfare", so check pages 45 and 46 to see what he means. Every pylon uses the Type-E (yellow) jack. Let's get down to business, starting with number 1. Question 1 includes three numbers in its answer section: 257. Onto the next pylon, Question 2 also includes three numbers in its answer section: 721. Question 3 is a little more involving, since you need to find how many messages Ken has left. He starts with 8, drops off 2 so he's down to 6. He pick up 4 more so up to 10 now. He collects 7 more for 17 total. He drops off 5 messages at the hotel and gives one to you. The final count is 11 messages. Question 4 asks how many shells you have after taking 50 steps. You pick up 2 shells for every 3 steps. You lose 1 shell for every 5 steps. 50 / 3 = 16 times you pick up shells (ignore the remainder). 16 * 2 = 32 shells picked up. 50 / 5 = 10 times you dropped shells. You drop only 1 each time so you lose 10 shells overall. 32 - 10 = 22. Question 5 needs a cheesecake to be cut into six identical pieces. You need to find the correct angle to cut the pieces. A circle has 360 degrees total, so dividing the circle into sixths gives the angle of 60 degrees. Question 6 asks you to set an alarm clock which is currently set to 7:50. You push the hour button three times, so the clock is now 10:50. You push the 10 minute button four times, so the clock is now 10:30. You push the minute button two times, so the clock is finally set to 10:32. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 10 [RQ10] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Talk to Edo. Head out to the accident scene. Talk to Mati, then head toward the diner. You can find all three Lost & Found puzzles on the way to the diner. Turn left when you get to the beach. Lost & Found Puzzle (#33) is near the start of the pier along Power Beach. The third clue requires you to crack the diagrams. The middle number is found by multiplying the outer numbers together. Multiply 1 * 2 * 2 * 9 for the solution 36. Head down the road to the diner. Go a short way beyond the diner and look along the left side of the road for a small signpost. Check the front to find Lost & Found Puzzle (#31). The first clue says the hotel needs a dozen of each cocktail. Page 31 shows that there are 6 kinds of cocktails. 12 of each gives the solution 72. Finally, go back to the diner itself now. There is a pillar at the end of the guardrail, almost directly in front of Ken. Check the pillar for Lost & Found Puzzle (#32). The second clue refers to the fortunetelling page of the guidebook. The page number, 47, is the solution. Talk to Ken, then enter the diner. Mati is waiting for you in the diner's kitchen. Mati wants you to talk with the depressed man in the diner, or else you won't get your marlin saute. Mr. Kai turns out to be just as annoying as his son. Talk to Mati again. She tells you to check the accident scene. Exit the diner and talk to Ken again. Go meet Step at the beach. Return to the accident scene and talk to Shoutaro. Go back to the hotel to find his soccer ball. On the pathway to the hotel, take the branching pathway which leads to the dumpsters. Turn right when you get there to find his soccer ball in the corner. Check the dumpster for Story Puzzle (#15). Page 44 in the guidebook tells you when trash is picked up. The green box in the middle of the page lists the 6th, 16th, and 26th as pickup days. Trash is picked up the morning after those dates (the trash company also happens to be called "Plus One"). Adding 1 to each of those dates gives the solution 71727. Use the Type-D (blue) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 11 [RQ11] ================= You start the night with a wake up call from Edo. The Lost & Found list is in the usual spot. Check under your bed to start a lengthy conversation. Check the guidebook then talk to Sue again. Talk to Edo (talk to him a few more times for extra angry messages). Go to the dumpsters for Lost & Found Puzzle (#36). The awful camera prevents you from actually seeing where the puzzle is, but it's on the back of a dumpster. The third clue asks how many lights are on in the hotel garden at night. Walk along the hotel pathway and you see 7 lights. Take the road past where the accident was and eventually you will see the lighthouse. Follow the road until it ends at a raised drawbridge. Go to the left until you see a ramp. Go down the ramp on your right. Lost & Found Puzzle (#35) is in the corner of the hut. The second clue asks what year the "Frontline in Louisiana" movie was made. Page 33 lists the release date as 1998. Go back to the lighthouse and talk to Sue. Climb up the lighthouse and look at the moon for Lost & Found Puzzle (#34). The first clue has a code where each letter matches a number. Ignoring the "Mr." part: M = 33 O = 35 N = 34 D = 14 O = 35 You need to count the letters of the alphabet out on your fingers. You start at A with 1 finger extended on each hand. You extend another finger on your right hand for each letter. When you have five fingers extended on your right hand, you extend another finger on your left hand, then restart counting on your right hand with one only finger extended. You keep repeating this until you get to the letter you need. The tens place is the number of fingers extended on your left hand, and the ones place is the number of fingers extended on your left hand. Counting the letters for SUE out gives the solution 445115. Return to Room 402 and talk to Sue. Check the watch on the table for Story Puzzle (#16). Page 16 says a crescent moon is in phase 4.3, so the solution is 43. Use the Type-H (green) jack. Answer the phone. Go to the roof. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 12 [RQ12] ================= Talk to Edo. Walk up the central staircase in front of you. Go through the back door of the hotel and out the front. Take the road right past the lighthouse. Go across the drawbridge to the "Spice Shop" shopping mall. Walk (hold B, center circle for stylus) to the back corner of the store. Step hides behind the drink racks, so you can't actually see him until you run into him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 13 [RQ13] ================= Exit the hotel through the front doors. Talk to Mati on the bridge. Take the road to the beach and hop on the Eleki Island jetty. Go inside the two-story building with the dish on top. Follow the left wall and go up the stairs. Go to the opposite corner of the room and hit the switch. Go back downstairs and hop into the pit. Check the valve on the pillar straight ahead of you. Go around the pillar and through the door. This puzzle is formatted a little weird. A better way of showing it would be [__ - __ + __ + __ + __] = 100. You need to use the numbers shown in brackets in the same order as they're shown to make the equation equal 100. [98 - 76 + 54 + 3 + 21] = 100 so now you need to shoot those numbers on the big panel/screen thing. You can shoot them in any order you like. Once the puzzle is done, walk ahead. Hug the left wall until you see the red/green pulse. Check it out, then get ready to check out a lot more pulses in this hallway. Keep hugging the left wall until you find another pulse. Then hug the right wall back toward the entrance for another pulse. Hug the right wall even further back toward the entrance for another pulse. Hug the right wall toward the exit for another pulse. Hug the left wall toward the exit for another pulse. You should have just met someone who looks very similar to Remy, so now run down the hallway to the exit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 14 [RQ14] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Talk to Edo. Talk to Remy outside. Take the road to the "Spice Shop" shopping mall to talk with Koshimizu. Go straight ahead until you meet the middle-aged man, Gunzi. Go past him to find Catherine. Follow the path all the way to the end for Lost & Found Puzzle (# 39). The third clue requires you to crack the diagrams. The third number is found by subtracting the second number from the first number. 82 - 37 = 45. Go back and talk to Gunzi. Go to the hotel and talk to Edo. Go to Room 408 and take the right door to talk with Ms. Akai. Go back to Edo. Check the bookcase in the corner closest to the camera for Lost & Found Puzzle (#38). The second clue says that Edo kept a diary every single day for 4 years. 365 * 4 = 1460. Add 1 for the leap year and you get the solution 1461. Check the radio for part one of Story Puzzle (#17). All three parts of this puzzle use Type-I (purple) jack. Page 41 lists the radio stations. The disco radio station "FEVER" has a frequency of 77.7MHZ, so the solution is 777. Go to the road and talk to Ken. Ride his bike to Gunzi and talk with him. Ride the bike back and then go to Room 408 again. After talking with Ms. Akai, go talk to Edo for the next radio puzzle. The shower radio station plays music from all genres, including jazz. The frequency is 84.9MHZ, so the solution is 849. Go to the road and talk to Ken. Ride his bike to Gunzi and talk with him. Ride the bike back and then go to Room 408 again. After talking with Ms. Akai, go talk to Edo for the next radio puzzle (in case you were wondering, yes, I just copied & pasted that from the previous paragraph). The "Radio 4 U" station player's callers' requests, which are probably songs that people have memories of. The frequency is 88.4MHZ, so the solution is 884. Go to the road and talk to Ken. Ride his bike to Gunzi and talk with him. Ride the bike back and then talk to Edo. Go the the 5F cinema and check the locked door for Story Puzzle (#18). Page 35 says the film "Tonight, Tonight" is about a love triangle, so the solution is 3. Use the Type-G (dark blue) jack. Go inside and turn left into the projector room. Check the back bookcase for Lost & Found Puzzle (#37). The first clue asks for the running time of the "Frontline in Louisiana" movie. Page 33 lists the running time as 1 hour and 32 minutes, so the solution is 132. Talk to the couple sitting in the front row. Go back to the projector for Story Puzzle (#19). The couple said that for those 8 seconds, they remembered every frame of the film. Page 32 says the projector runs at 30 frames per second. That means they remember 240 frames of the film. Use the Type-I (purple) jack. Talk to the couple again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 15 [RQ15] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Talk to Edo. Check the jukebox by the bar for Lost & Found Puzzle (#40). The first clue shows a record with a bunch of scratches on it. Counting the scratches gives the solution 15. Go to where Gunzi was during last Request (at the end of the road past the shopping mall). Talk with the couple. Go to the ruins and check the navigator scarecrow for part one of Story Puzzle (#20). Use the Type-E (yellow) jack for all the scarecrows. Check page 13 and read the first section. You need an Attack powerful enough to reduce the HP to 0. The HP is 20 and Defense is 8, so it takes 28 to reduce the HP to 0. Take the left passage of the maze. Keep following this passage until you get to a clearing near the back corner. Take the left passage and check the dead end for Lost & Found Puzzle (#41). The second clue assigns each room number a new two digit number, and asks for Miss Akai's new two digit number. The two digit numbers are found by subtracting the third digit of the room number from the first two digits. So Room 40 - 0 = 40, 40 - 1 = 39, 40 - 2 = 38. Miss Akai is staying in 408, so the two digit number is 32. Go back to the clearing and follow the right passage until you reach the second scarecrow. You need a critical hit, which ignores defense, to reduce the HP to 0. The HP is 5, so the solution is 5. Turn around from where you start and take the side passage. The third scarecrow needs you to calculate the total HP. The starting value is 32000 but that gets doubled to 64000. Then you need to multiply 64000 by 1.5, which equates to adding another 32000 on. This gives the solution 96000. Talk to Step. If you just follow his directions 6 times, you will finally end up outside of the maze. Note that the first direction is worded wrong. It isn't really his left, but your left. Other than that his directions are correct. If you take a wrong turn, you get a message telling you that you were sent back. Check the tower behind the woman for Lost & Found Puzzle (#42). The third clue requires you to crack the diagrams. The third number is found by subtracting the second number from the first number. 16 - 1 = 15. Talk to the nurse, Hana. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 16 [RQ16] ================= You start the day with a wake up call from ???. Before you get your morning coffee, a guest arrives. Check the die on the table for Story Puzzle (#21). Page 15 tells the story of an ancient civilization. The end of the story says that "the man took everything away." He also left an "ideal of nothingness" to the civilization. These clues mean the solution is 0. Use the Type-H (green) jack. Talk to the Hana, then to Rits. Back in your room, read the Lost & found list. Go to the flower pot near your bed for Lost & Found Puzzle (#43). The first clue gives a series of equations and asks what number you started with. X / 7 = remainder 3. X / 11 = remainder 7. X / 13 = remainder 1. I don't really know how to solve this other than trial and error, but the solution is 612. Talk to Sue at the front desk. Go out the back of the hotel and go down the staircases. Go up the left staircase with railings for Lost & Found Puzzle (# 44). The second clue mentions an article in the guidebook, found on page 24, called the "Star-Shaped Hotel". The bottom of the article lists the three features that represent Lospass Island, so the solution is 3. This puzzle gives the hotel sign model you need to solve Lost & Found 09. Take the left path to the gate. Check the door of the cottage on the right for Lost & Found Puzzle (#45). The third clue requires you to crack the diagrams. The middle number is found by adding the outer numbers together. 1 + 3 + 17 + 29 = 50. Go inside the left cottage and talk to Hana. Go outside to the pool between the cottages. Run around the pillar clockwise (to the left) until a slate appears on the back of the pillar. Check the slate for Story Puzzle (#22). Page 15 features a diagram related to the story. If you look at the figures in the diagram closely, you will see that they form an equation: 8 + 6. This means the solution is 14. Use the Type-G (dark blue) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 17 [RQ17] ================= You start the day with a wake up visit from Sue. Once you finish getting bugged by Sue, check the Lost & Found- well, you know the rest. Go to Room 301. Check the recorder on the table for Story Puzzle (#23). Page 37 features a picture of a turtle, which is said to be 128cm. Use the Type-I (purple) jack. Go to the 1F lobby and go through the back to the Power Lunch restaurant. Check the back right corner of the table sticking out from under the balcony for Lost & Found Puzzle (#47). The second clue asks for the volume of a 12-sided object (called a dodecagon) with a diagonal length of 10cm and a height of 3cm. First, you need to find the area of the base of this object. A diagonal of dodecagon would also be the diameter of a circle inscribed in the dodecagon. The radius of this circle would be 5. Now you can use a formula to find the area of the base: 12 (2 - square root of 3) r^2 12 (2 - square root of 3) = 3.21539031 but you need to round it down to 3. 5^2 = 25 Multiply the two numbers from above 3 x 25 = 75 square cm for the base. You still need to multiply by 3 to get the volume 75 x 3 = 225 cubic cm. Go out back to the cottage and talk to Rits. Head to the beach and take the jetty to Eleki Island. Enter the hole in the wall to the right of the destroyed building. I included this map to help you through the cave. You start at "S" and exit at "F". The * is for Lost & Found Puzzle (#48). Check the dead end for Lost & Found Puzzle (#48). The third clue asks you to find the sides of a right triangle. The sum of the sides is 30. Keeping the Pythagorean theorem in mind, you can't have all 3 sides the same length. Through trial and error, you find the sides need to be 5, 12, and 13. This makes the solution 51213. F - * - - - - S You should now be on a boat. Check to the right of them for Lost & Found Puzzle (#46). The first clue asks you to find the number of shortest routes from a dog (S) to its master (F). A shortest route means you only move down and to the right. The numbers at the junctions show the number of shortest routes to that point. That number is equal to the number of shortest routes that can come from the point directly above it, plus the number of shortest routes that can come to it from directly to its left. However, there is a missing line on the right side of the diagram, so you can't add the number directly to its left. The solution is the number found at F, which is 106. S----+---1---1---1---1 | | | | | 1---2---3---4---5 | | | | | 1---3---6---10--15 | | | | | 1---4---10--20 15 | | | | | 1---5---15--35--50 | | | | | 1---6---21--56--106--F Talk to the man, Tokio. Talk to him again for Story Puzzle (#24). Page 47 has an article written by Tokio. Tokio says he started his diary on 1999/12/31. The event which prompted him to start the diary happened the day before. This means the solution is 19991230. Use the Type-C (dark green) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================= Request 18 [RQ18] ================= You start the day with the usual routine. Talk to Edo. Take the roadway out to the diner. Check the table in the back corner for Lost & Found Puzzle (#49). The first clue asks which saute Sumio never got to eat. In Request 10, Mati tells you to help Mr. Kai or you won't get a marlin saute. The marlin saute is listed second in the clue, so the solution is 2. Talk to Mati. Go to the gate and talk to Ken. Check the android. Story Puzzle (#25) requires you to solve the math problems found on all these androids. The problems are random, so just use a calculator if you need to. Use the Type-C (dark green) jack for all the rest. Once you stop the 7 on 2F, go up to 3F for another 8 to defuse. Go down to 1F and check the 2nd row of benches on your right for Lost & Found Puzzle (#51). The third clue requires you to crack the diagrams. The middle number is found by multiplying the outer numbers together. 6 * 7 * 10 * 10 = 4200. Don't forget to defuse the 8 on 1F. You'll get a message when they're all defused. Go through the Gate 2 entrance, which is on the right. Walk through the metal detector, then keep going until you find the bathroom Sandance is in. Take the bend past that and go to Gate 2. Talk to the two flight staff in front of it. Head back to the bathroom (with the "G" over it). Check the middle urinal for Lost & Found Puzzle (#50). The second clue has a list of 4 digit numbers. You need to multiply the first digit by the second digit. The result is equal to the last two digits. However, one of these 4 digit numbers is incorrect. Multiplying 9 * 8 does not equal 40. This means the solution is 9840. Enter the only stall you're allowed to. Go all the way back to Gate 2 and talk to them again. You need to go to Gate 2 as Toriko now. You need to go to Gate 2 as Sumio again. After all this weirdness, you get to Story Puzzle (#26). The solution is the birthday you entered at the start of the game (check Goods screen). Use the Type-C (dark green) jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================ IV. Hints [HI00] ================ This section will tell you the relevant guidebook pages or any other advice to help you solve the puzzles on your own. The solutions themselves are NOT included in this section to keep this section as spoiler free as possible. ==================== Story Puzzles [HI01] ==================== These puzzles are the only puzzles you need to solve to finish the game. The Goods screen offers brief hints on each Story Puzzle, but I will go more into more detail. Keep in mind that green text in the guidebook is often some kind of hint. ========== Request 00 ========== 01- Sumio helpfully states that his birthday can be found on page 13 of the manual, which is actually left blank. You need to make up a birthday, or you can use your actual birthday. Also, you need to input your birthday in DD/MM format, DD standing for the day and MM standing for the month. 02- Sumio says the upside down babies symbolize reversed birthdays. How do you reverse a birthday? One way is to look at a reverse image of the birthday numbers you previously entered. For example, hold the DS in front of a mirror. Another way is to reverse the way you read the birthday numbers. Instead of reading from left to right like you usually do, read from right to left. ========== Request 01 ========== 03- Sue tells you that the guidebook advertises the same camera model that's in the room. Page 37 is the only page with a camera on it. This page also features a picture of a woman sitting in the same chair the camera is facing right now. The description of this picture has details on the camera settings used (written in green) when this picture was taken. ========== Request 02 ========== 04- Edo mentions the guidebook has more information on soccer formations. Guidebook pages 42 and 43 have many numbered soccer formations i.e. 3-4-3. Considering Stephan's love of the Italian language, you can guess which soccer team and formation he supports. ========== Request 03 ========== 05- Check page 23 in the guidebook for instructions on using the phone. Call Room 302 once you know how. 06- Check page 39 of the guidebook for information on Crasher's last death match. Use this date to fire him up. ========== Request 04 ========== 07- (part 1) Check page 31 of the guidebook for information on the Silver Bullet cocktail. Use the listed ingredients to mix the cocktail. (part 2) Check page 31 of the guidebook for information on the Spring Feeling cocktail. Since Maria wants a taste of August, you should check the special recipe listed under the Spring Feeling cocktail. Use this new cocktail to help Maria out. 08- Check page 31 of the guidebook for information on the Earthquake cocktail. ========== Request 05 ========== 09- Page 41 says the counter will only come off at 10000 steps. The counter is currently at 0221 (ignore the picture in the guidebook, it's wrong). You need to find how many more steps are needed to remove the counter. 10- Page 35 shows you how the speakers work. The first digit is for the mode, and the second digit is for the size. ========== Request 06 ========== 11- The guidebook page Stephan refers to is page 47. Here you find directions which go with the picture in the background (tap the Change icon). ========== Request 08 ========== 12- Seiji wants the organ tuned to the traditional setting. Page 11 has information on the traditional organ setting. ========== Request 09 ========== 13- Read Stephan's scintillating article on page 40 to find the gear ratio. 14- Sumio mentions "psychological warfare", so check pages 45 and 46 to see what he means. Question 1 includes three numbers in its answer section. Question 2 also includes three numbers in its answer section. Question 3 is a little more involving, since you need to find how many messages Ken has left. He starts with 8, then drops off 2, then he picks up 4 more, then collects 7 more, then drops off 5 more, and finally gives 1 to you. Question 4 asks how many shells you have after taking 50 steps. You pick up 2 shells for every 3 steps. You lose 1 shell for every 5 steps. You need to find how many total shells you picked up, then subtract the total number of shells you lost. Question 5 needs a circular cheesecake to be cut into six identical pieces. You need to find the correct angle to cut the pieces. A circle has 360 degrees total. Question 6 asks you to set an alarm clock which is currently set to 7:50. You push the hour button three times. You push the 10 minute button four times (note that pushing the minute button will not affect the hour shown on the clock). You push the minute button two times. ========== Request 10 ========== 15- Page 44 in the guidebook tells you the dates when trash is picked up. Remember that the color green in the guidebook is often used for hints. Trash is actually picked up the morning after the listed dates. If that's not enough, check the name of the trash company shown in the picture. ========== Request 11 ========== 16- Page 16 provides information on the crescent moon. ========== Request 13 ========== Remy- This puzzle is formatted a little weird. A better way of showing it would be [__ - __ + __ + __ + __] = 100. You need to use the numbers shown in brackets in the same order as they're shown to make the equation equal 100. To input the numbers, you need to shoot those numbers on the big panel/screen thing. You can shoot them in any order you like. ========== Request 14 ========== 17- Page 41 lists the radio stations. You need to find a disco station, and there is only radio station that plays disco. You need to find a jazz station. There is no dedicated jazz station, so the station that plays jazz must play a lot of different genres of music. You need to find a station which brings back old memories. If someone has memories of a song they haven't heard in a long time, they will probably request that song. 18- The film currently playing is "Tonight, Tonight". Page 35 says this film is about a love triangle. 19- The couple said that for those 8 seconds, they remembered every frame of the film. Page 32 says the projector runs at 30 frames per second. ========== Request 15 ========== 20- Check page 13 for information on the scarecrows. For the first scarecrow, you need an Attack powerful enough to reduce the HP to 0. The HP is 20 and the Defense is 8. For the second scarecrow, you need a critical hit, which ignores defense, to reduce the HP to 0. The HP is 5. The third scarecrow needs you to calculate the total HP. The starting value is 32000 but that gets doubled. Then you need to multiply that by 1.5, which equates to adding another 32000 on. ========== Request 16 ========== 21- Page 15 tells the story of an ancient civilization. The end of the story is the key to this puzzle. 22- Page 15 features a diagram related to the ancient story. If you look at the figures in the diagram closely, you will see that they form an equation. ========== Request 17 ========== 23- Page 37 features a picture of a turtle. 24- Page 47 has an article written by Tokio. Tokio says he started his diary on a specific date. The event which prompted him to start the diary happened the day before. ========== Request 18 ========== 25- These puzzles are pretty straightforward. The only advice I have is: use a calculator. 26- Think back to the very first Story Puzzle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =========================== Lost & Found Puzzles [HI02] =========================== These puzzles are completely optional. Unsurprisingly, they involve the Lost and Found items. ========== Request 00 ========== 01- The clue asks you how many tires are on a truck, so count the tires on the grey truck near the closed gate. 02- The solution to this puzzle is not explicitly told in the game itself. The clue mentions twins who have finally reached adulthood. Although adulthood can be defined in different ways, the definition which the game uses is the age of majority. The age of majority is the age at which you are legally considered an adult, or in other words, no longer considered a minor. Wikipedia lists the age of majority for various countries. Given what country this game's developers are from, you can decide which country's age of majority is the correct one. Once you have the age of adulthood, you just need to combine the age of each twin into one number. 03- The clue says the parking lot looks really empty considering the number of vehicles parked there. Perhaps you should find out how many vehicles there are in the parking lot. ========== Request 01 ========== 04- This cryptic clue displays a word on one side of an = sign, with a series of numbers on the other side. Counting the amount of letters in the first word "Lospass" and the amount of numbers in the series provides one hint. Each letter in "Lospass" matches with a number on the right side. The key in this clue is the special font used. Each letter in this font is made entirely of angles and lines i.e. there are no curves in the letter "O". Keeping in mind the angular nature of the font, you can examine the letters to discover how each number is connected to each letter. 05- This clue refers to the cards in a poker deck, A for Ace, J for Jack, Q for Queen, K for King. Each card in a poker deck has a numerical value. The A has the lowest value. The K has the highest value. By looking at the numbered cards in between the A and the K, you can find their values. 06- Think about where Sumio is standing. The method for solving this puzzle is rather ironic. ========== Request 02 ========== 07- Since the clue is asking how many cubes can fit into a container, you need to find the volumes. Also, the actual number of cubes you can fit into the container is less than the theoretical number. 08- To solve this puzzle you need to set up a formula. Use 1/X to represent the maid's cleaning rate. X represents the total number of minutes the maid needs to clean the hallway. Sue cleans the hallway in 30 minutes, so she has a cleaning rate of 1/30. Mati cleans the hallway at a rate of 1/20. You need to find their combined cleaning rate, so you get the equation 1/30 + 1/20 = 1/X. Now you need to solve for X. 09- L&F 44 gives the hotel sign model which you need for this puzzle. The clue says that the roof sign was given new energy saving light bulbs. These new bulbs save "two Lebanese pounds per light bulb per night." You need to find exactly how much the hotel will be saving in a single night with these new light bulbs. I don't know why Lebanese pounds are used here. ========== Request 03 ========== 10- You need to put a 1 for true or a 0 for false. For the first number, Peter tells you who your client is during your truck ride to the hotel. For the second number, Sister Phantom's name should give you a pretty big hint. Of course, you could also check her profile on the Goods screen. For the third number, Stephan spent all of Request 02 talking about one sport. I don't know how you find the answer for the last number. If anyone does, feel free to email me how you find it. 11- This clue has two words, with a set of matching numbers for each. The key to solving this puzzle is to look for letters that the words have in common. Since MONDO and EDO both end in DO, you should start there. 12- Here you have to make a code, instead of break a code. The name of the hero of Lospass is found on page 38 of the guidebook. The key at the bottom of the screen gives you all the letters to spell his name. ========== Request 04 ========== 13- Count the chairs in the "Power Dinner" restaurant. That's it. 14- There is a wide selection of cocktails available. Check page 31 of the guidebook to see exactly how many kinds are available. 15- This clue says a woman tried each of the cocktails. Each cocktail has a certain number by it, so you need to add them all together to get the solution. I wish I could explain more, but I don't fully understand this clue myself. ========== Request 05 ========== 16- Since this clue asks you to alter the Grasshopper cocktail's ingredients, check page 31 for the ingredients and alter them accordingly. 17- Count the sun beds on the roof for the solution. 18- Find the running time of the Balboa Brothers' debut movie. The description of their movie is on page 33. The running time is listed near the top of the article after the Balboa Brothers' names. Also, you need to convert the running time into minutes. ========== Request 06 ========== 19- This clue asks you for the opus number of the symphony "From The New World". The opus number (abbreviated "Op.") can be found in the opening title of Request 03. 20- This clue assigns each hotel guest a number. Check the sign above your hotel door to find out what the numbers mean. 21- The name of the Lospass Mob's Goalkeeper is on the bottom of page 43. ========== Request 07 ========== 22- This clue says to turn a faucet "two full turns." Picture turning a circular faucet handle for two complete revolutions. 23- This clue features the name ???PASS ISLAND upside down. Write down the missing letters in the Memo screen. Don't forget that the clue has LOSPASS written upside down. 24- Sumio hasn't changed his clothes since coming to the island. People usually change their clothes every day. How many days have you been here now? ========== Request 08 ========== 25- This clue mentions the ratio between circumference and diameter. The ratio is a well known number commonly used in geometry. 26- This clue mentions changing each candle in a church. Lucky for you, there's only one church on this island. The hideously rendered candles are near the church's altar. 27- This clue asks how many rooms are in the hotel. The writer asks this to make you realize how much work they have to do daily. The only person who would clean the hotel daily would be a maid. Remember that maids don't clean the entire hotel daily, only certain rooms. ========== Request 09 ========== 28- Page 10 tells you which year Canadelcazett Church was remodeled. 29- Check page 18 for the details of when the two highways on Lospass were completed. 30- Crack the featured diagrams. There is a connection between the outer numbers and the inner number. Check the examples they give you to figure out what the inner number is. ========== Request 10 ========== 31- The hotel needs a dozen of each kind of cocktail. Page 31 shows how many kinds of cocktails are needed. 32- This clue refers to the fortunetelling page of the guidebook. Check the page. 33- Crack the featured diagrams. There is a connection between the outer numbers and the inner number (it's different than the previous diagram puzzle). Check the examples they give you to figure out what the inner number is. ========== Request 11 ========== 34- In this code, each letter matches a number. Ignoring the "Mr." part: M = 33 O = 35 N = 34 D = 14 O = 35 You need to count the letters of the alphabet out on your fingers. Start at A with 1 finger extended on each hand. Extend another finger on your right hand for each letter. When you have five fingers extended on your right hand, extend another finger on your left hand, then restart counting on your right hand with one only finger extended. Keep repeating this until you get to the letter you need. The tens place is the number of fingers extended on your left hand, and the ones place is the number of fingers extended on your left hand. Use this method to count the numbers in SUE. Another way of doing this puzzle is to look at this diagram (left numbers are tens place, top numbers are ones place): 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 --+---+---+---+---+---- 1 | A | B | C | D | E --+---+---+---+---+---- 2 | F | G | H | I | J --+---+---+---+---+---- 3 | K | L | M | N | O --+---+---+---+---+---- 4 | P | Q | R | S | T --+---+---+---+---+---- 5 | U | V | W | X | Y --+---+---+---+---+---- 6 | Z | 35- Check page 33 for the year the "Frontline in Louisiana" movie was made. 36- This clue asks how many lights are on in the hotel garden at night. Walk along the pathway outside the hotel. ========== Request 14 ========== 37- Page 33 lists the running time of the "Frontline in Louisiana" movie. 38- Edo kept a diary every single day for 4 years. How many total days did he keep it? Don't forget what happens to the days in a year every 4 years. 39- Crack the featured diagrams. The third number is connected to the first two numbers. ========== Request 15 ========== 40- The pictured record has a number of scratches on it. 41- This clue assigns each room number a new two digit number, and asks for Miss Akai's new two digit number. The two digit numbers are found by subtracting the third digit of the room number from the first two digits. So Room 40 - 0 = 40, 40 - 1 = 39, 40 - 2 = 38. 42- Crack the featured diagrams. The third number is connected to the first two numbers. ========== Request 16 ========== 43- This clue gives a series of equations and asks what number you started with. X / 7 = remainder 3. X / 11 = remainder 7. X / 13 = remainder 1. I wish I knew a way to solve this other than trial and error. 44- This clue mentions an article in the guidebook about a "Star-Shaped Hotel". Check the features at the bottom of page 24. 45- Crack the featured diagrams. There is a connection between the outer numbers and the inner number. Check the examples they give you to figure out what the inner number is. ========== Request 17 ========== 46- This clue asks you to find the number of shortest routes from a dog (S) to its master (F). A shortest route means you only move down and to the right. The numbers at the junctions show the number of shortest routes to that point. That number is equal to the number of shortest routes that can come from the point directly above it, plus the number of shortest routes that can come from directly to its left. However, there is a missing line on the right side of the diagram, so in that spot you can't add the number directly to its left. S----+---1---1---1---1 | | | | | 1---2---3---4---5 | | | | | 1---3---?---?---? | | | | | 1---4---?---? ? | | | | | 1---5---?---?---? | | | | | 1---6---?---?---?---F 47- Calculate the volume of a 12-sided object (called a dodecagon) with a diagonal length of 10cm and a height of 3cm. To find the volume, you need to multiply the area of the base by the height. First, you need to find the area of the base. A diagonal of dodecagon would also be the diameter of a circle inscribed in the dodecagon. The radius of this circle would be 5. Now you can use a formula to find the area of the base: 12 * (2 - square root of 3) * r^2 12 * (2 - square root of 3) = 3.21539031 but you need to round it down to 3. Multiply 3 by r^2 to get the area of the base. Multiply the area by the height to get the volume. 48- This clue asks you to find the sides of a right triangle. The sum of the sides is 30. Keeping the Pythagorean theorem in mind, you can't have all 3 sides the same length. Keep trying different values for the sides until you find values that work with the Pythagorean theorem. ========== Request 18 ========== 49- This clue asks which saute was the one Sumio never got to eat. In Request 10, Mati tells you to help Mr. Kai or you won't get her saute. 50- This clue has a list of 4 digit numbers. You need to multiply the first digit by the second digit. The result is equal to the last two digits. However, one of these 4 digit numbers is incorrect, meaning that multiplying the first digit by the second digit does not give you the last two digits. 51- Crack the featured diagrams. There is a connection between the outer numbers and the inner number. Check the examples they give you to figure out what the inner number is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- =================== V. Unlockables [UN00] ====================== Unlockables are earned by the number of steps you have taken. You can unlock everything by putting a stack of coins on the corner of the touchscreen and leaving your DS on for two days. Yes, two days uninterrupted. If you leave the game on in an area where Sumio can run, it will take approximately 51 hours total. Suda51, 51 hours, get it? You'll already have all the step upgrades well before that time, so it really just unlocks all the extra costumes (and the ability to change costumes at your closet). You could leave the DS on in Request 00 and then be able to run around for the rest of the game with all of the different costumes. Kinda pointless in a game this ugly but... you could. Also, the movement speed upgrade doesn't make the step counter increase any faster, so don't bother trying to keep L or R pushed down. The speed upgrade makes Sumio just go forward further with each step, instead of actually taking steps faster. ______________________________________________________________________________ Name of Unlockable | Description | Requirements ---------------------+--------------------------------+----------------------- Search System Open | S.
