The default Wordpad font (Courier New) is most suited for viewing this FAQ.
However, I used Notepad, with the same font, while writing this FAQ. There's
really no significant difference between the two programs when viewing this
FAQ. I find the Courier New font to be much easier to read than Courier. Not

A good friend of mine, Arctic (best known for his sweet FF7 FAQ), used the
Keyword System in Version 1.1 of his FAQ and has used it ever since. Its sole
purpose is to allow you (the user) to search for anything in this FAQ with the
greatest of ease.
Utilizing the Find function (Ctrl+F) that can be used in both Notepad and
Wordpad, the keyword system is used at the start of each chapter and section.
When reading the Table of Contents, you'll see the following by a certain
section:

Press Ctrl+F and type in the following:

And you'll immediately be brought to the corresponding section after you press

Every single monster in the game has four "Drop" slots. They'll give out items
based on a certain percentage, as follows:
20% - Item 1
12% - Item 2
5% - Item 3
0.4% - Item 4
All throughout this FAQ, you can pretty much disregard the first three slots
because you'll rarely see anything otherwise (and if you do, I'll let you know
about it).
The Treasure Hunter Augment doubles all those percentages. So you'll have a 40,
24, 10 and 0.8% chance of seeing X item drop. To get the Treasure Hunter
Augment, simply get 100% on all maps with a percentage on them.
There's one exception to this. The Flan Princess (#145) will have a 1% drop
slot instead of a 5% drop slot (and this 1% increases to 2% with Treasure
Hunter).
With a few items (just Onion items), you'll see formulas (yes, they are from
the BradyGames strategy guide since nobody else knows the formulas) for stats.
The "LV" stands for "Level". So you'll take your character's level, plug it
into the formula and round it down to the nearest whole number. That'll give
you the number you can work with.

If you've played FINAL FANTASY III for the DS, you probably already know all
about the Onion equipment. It's only usable by the Onion Knight and the Onion
Knight isn't that great until it reaches Lv. 99.
In FINAL FANTASY IV, it works slightly different. The Onion equipment has its
stats based on your team level. Another something to note is that ONLY FIVE
CHARACTERS CAN EQUIP ONION GEAR. The final five members are the ONLY ones who
can use it, so that's Cecil (Paladin, not Dark Knight), Kain, Edge, Rydia
(adult, not child) and Rosa. Even then, you can only use it with certain
characters (Rosa can't use an Onion Sword).
Also, keep in mind that you don't get the Onion equipment right away. You will
recieve a colored Tail that you take to the Tail Collector located at the
Adamant Isle Grotto (by Mythril). By giving a colored tail to the Collector,
he'll give you an item depending on the color of tail you have given him.
One last thing to note is that Onion gear is always carried over to the next
game. So if you get two Onion Swords on your first playthrough, they'll be
there for the next two games.
