--Legal Info

Lets just start this walkthrough by saying that this FAQ was made by Shnish.
It can ONLY be posted on Gamespot.com and IGN.com. You may not upload this
guide to other sites without my permission. You may not use parts of this
guide
on any other site without my permission, and you certainly may not claim this
guide as yours. If youre caught with my guide on another site, Ill make sure
to have it taken down immediately. Ive put a lot of hard work into this
guide,
and Id like to get credit for it. If you have any problems with this, or
would
like to contact me about reposting this guide, email me at
[email protected]. This is also my first guide, so dont expect it to be
perfect. This guide will first cover the main storyline, but it will ONLY
cover
as much as I have played. The way I am writing this FAQ is by playing each
part
of the game multiple times as I go along, so I havent yet beaten it as of the
start of this article. The game has just come out, so its very hard for me to
have already beaten it without devoting my life to it. That means that I will
not be able to give information about bosses and enemies (in this current
version), however I can provide strategies and what you will need before you
go
into the fight.

--FAQ

Q: May I contact you with questions about the game?
A: Certainly. I cannot promise to answer all your questions, but I will help
out whenever I can.

Q: May I illegally repost this guide on other sites and claim it as mine?
A: Read above

Q: Ive fought and fought again, and I cant seem to beat [part of game here]!
I followed your guide, yet I cant figure it out, and the enemies are just too
strong! How do I beat this?
A: It looks like youre new to RPGs. In an RPG, you level up your character so
that it can be strong enough to pass an environment. Its a very simple
process, cant beat the enemy? Well go find the highest leveled area (that you
can fight against) and kill monsters until youre able to level up and surpass
that part of the game.

Q: Hey, I got Blue Dragon too! You want to connect online and play with me?
A: Probably not, but youre welcome to email me at [email protected] if
youd like to play together, and Ill say yes if Im in a good mood.

Q: What will this guide cover?
A: This guide will cover the storyline of the game (Spoilers wont be given
unless its hard to continue writing without giving them), gameplay, level
statistics, best configuration, MY configuration, Level-to-get-a-skill, and
much more. You can check all of this in the table of contents.

Q: You keep telling me to go left, but thats not the right way!
A: Im referring to left on the mini map above. Because you can move around
the
camera in the game, left for one person might be right for the person with the
opposite camera, so all directions will be referred to on the mini map.

--Update Guide

Version 1.0 (5/29/10)Guide started-Legal rights added-FAQ added
Version 1.1(6/12/10)-Guide updated, Margins fixed, Added first quest

--Terms You Need to Know--

Shadow- A shadow is a special creature that all the people of Jibral had.
People can use these shadows to help them perform simple tasks, or to help
them
fight as well. When all the people of the town lost their shadows except for
you, your character finds out that he can share his shadows power with other
people to have them fight alongside him/her.

Skill- An attack or power that your shadows can use. EX: Flare or Heal.

Environmental Skill- A power given to your character throughout the game that
lets him perform actions such as breaking walls.

Jibral- The main town of the game that is named after King Jibral. After
people
of the town started losing their shadows you go off on a quest to investigate
and soon get dragged into the action!

Door Boss- After playing the game for about half an hour youll find out that
doors have started to appear around Neo Jibral. Each door has a boss in it
that lets you get great items if you defeat the boss, however, theyre tougher
than normal enemies. You can also fight these bosses with friends online,
which is your best bet considering the AI are pretty bad in this game.

Party- The players on your team, with a cap of 3 players (yourself and two AI)

--Introduction(AAx)

So you just got Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow? Good choice of a game. You start
out creating your character (male, female, hair, etc.) which is pretty in
depth, eyebrows, eye shape, mouth; you even select what your voice will be!
After you finish making your character and naming it, youll get a pretty
detailed cutscene showing a couple of mysterious purple men coming out of some
sort of chamber lock. These two men, Ganda and Jyun had been sleeping for a
long time. After finding out about their new power and their plans, you hear
them talking about it, which you two go to search for. The cut scene ends,
and the game starts with you playing as a rather powerful, level 30 Jyun.

--Element Ruins Depths(ABx)

Just as you start this game you might notice that youre free to attack, and
you arent just running around. Blue Dragon is different from RPGs like Final
Fantasy in the sense that you arent bound to walking around and random
battles, you run up to creatures to fight them, all in real time. Right now
youll be in the Chamber of Slumber, so travel down through the doors to get
to
the Central Passage. You can go left, but Ganda will only tell you that It
is
not stored in that area. If you continue traveling right youre encounter your
first enemy (Round Ideogram). At this point, you can just spam the A button
and
youll kill it quickly, but soon youll have to use a combination of skills,
rolling, blocking, and physical attacking to kill enemies. Keep going right
and
youll encounter another enemy (Protector) who will block most of your
attacks,
but wont be able to fight back in the process. One way to beat this enemy is
by casting Flara Sword on it, which will go through its physical defenses and
cast a powerful magic attack on it. After beating this enemy, continue heading
right and leave the Central Passage to go to the Eastern Passage. Another room
laid out exactly like the previous one will be here, so fight your way through
it exactly like you did with the previous room. Now youll notice a room laid
out differently, the Inner Passage. There arent any enemies in this area;
however you do need to pull a switch to open the door halfway through this
room. After clearing this section youll see Ganda and Jyun find It After a
strange experience when you go to get It, you see your character come out of
a chamber lock (like Jyun and Ganda did at the beginning of the game), and
youre now playing as your character! Therell be a tightly locked door to
your
south, but if you head up passed the chamber lock, youll find a teleportation
device. Head forward and make an immediate left, and youll find a save point.
Keep going forward and youll find an elevator out of this underground cave.
After seeing the short cutscene of this elevator rising, youll be on an
island

--Neo Jibral Castle Town-- (Introduction) (ACx)
After leaving the small beach area, youll encounter a rather large town. Neo
Jibral Castle Town, named after King Jibral, is the main area youll go to in
the game, coming back there after each quest. Continue walking up and youll
come to a load of dialogue pretty quickly. Youll hear about a bunch of people
that seem to have lost their shadows, and youll quickly realize how reliant
the town was on them. Now youll have a real cutscene showing your shadow rise
behind you, looking very realistic too. Youll get this same realistic cut
scene showing the people of the town all losing their shadows. At the end of
this dialogue, youll be free to roam the town. One of the many places in this
town is the Barbers, which lets you get a new haircut, and later youll even
be able to unlock new haircuts. Youll hear a scream in the direction of the
castle, so follow that. The garden is pretty straightforward, you and Shu
fight
against a monster; however, you dont have anything equipped, so its
recommended that you use magic. After Shu tells you about Neo Jibral, walk
through the garden and go into the castle. You could explore the town square a
bit first too, however, most areas are locked. Head north and youll be in the
castle.

--Neo Jibral Castle Town (The First Quest) (ADx)

[The Door to the Otherworld]

Youll unite with Lady Zola and Shu to go back to the underground area that
brought you to the town. Also go to equip the new weapons and armor that the
King gives you (Take the Adventurers Suit off of Shu and equip it to
yourself), and youll be off on your way back to the beach to take part in
your
first quest. First, however, let the guard show you to your room to save. To
be
honest, you wont be using this room very often, but the bed is good for
healing. You can also go there to change emblems, which later give you bonuses
such as 100% more chance of gold drops. When you finish going to your room,
leave the castle and travel back to the beach by going to the central and
taking the path to the south west. You should now be in the underground cave
with Shu and Zola. Youll then find out that you can share your shadow with
other people, allowing Shu and Zola to fight alongside you with their own
shadows. At this part of the game Id leave the shadows as the default ones,
but later on youll need to change them around based on the stats of your
party
members. Youll also notice that you can equip any skill of any type of
shadow.
This is because your one shadow is really all those different types of
shadows
meaning you can use a skill type of any shadow type. Dragon is the default
shadow, and also the neutral one. It has great stats, and its moves are
alright
as well. After killing two more Jibral Mice your entire team should level up.
You might have noticed that your character received nothing from leveling up,
but your shadow did. The entire premise of the game is that you get YOUR power
from your equipment, but all of your stats and skills are from your shadow.
The
stronger your shadow is, the stronger you will be. In West Side 2 youll find
two treasure chests and a few enemies. Rush through area 3 and hit the switch
at the end of it. Youll now be back at the warping device that first brought
you to the elevators area. Move on passed it, and make a right. Go up to
save,
and hit the switch so you can go to your first boss battle!

Boss Battle #1: Fanged Boar
Recommended Level: 3 (Entire Party)
Party Specifications: Main Character (Dragon), Shu (Phoenix), Zola (Minotaur)
Main Character- Jibral Sword, Adventurers Suit, Jibral Helmet
Shu- Jibral Sword, Adventurers Suit, Keraso White Hat,
Zola- Claymore, Casual Wear, Keraso White Hat

The Fanged Boar is a pretty simple boss, attack, roll, attack roll. The only
attack that youll have to avoid is his tail attack, where he can damage about
25% of your health of anybody thats near him. If he uses his rush attack,
youll have to dodge out of the way pretty quickly, but follow the attack and
dodge protocol and you should be okay. Also watch out for his forward attack
where he hits you with his fangs, its pretty strong and isnt too easy to
predict either. If youre still having trouble with this boss, ran go back and
level and by level 4 or 5 you should be able to dominate him pretty easily. If
he casts tail shot though and it connects, you might have trouble. Its also
good to cast flare or grand sword, which will both do about 120 damage to him.
Dont forgot to cast heal either, as you can quickly tend to any wounds from
the fight with it (you should be healing for about 40 hp at this level). Dont
rely on the AI ever in boss battles though, as they just stand in front and
spam attacks, never dodging, and blocking pretty infrequently. After defeating
the boar, head up to the Mega Switch and examine it

New Skills: Wind, Cure, Crash (Environmental Skill)

--The Mysterious Doors(AEx)

After taking the east exit and heading back to Neo Jibral Town, youll find a
bunch of doors appearing around the town. Some of the doors will be locked,
and some will have a barrier over them, but two or three of them you can
access immediately (such as the door in the direct middle). These bosses are
rather tough at first, but as you level up you will notice them getting very,
very easy to defeat. Right now your team is only going to be at level 3 or 4,
so you will have to embrace a long, tough battle to defeat even the weakest
door boss. The doors will be blocked by men for a small part of the game, but
youll quickly be able to go inside them. After Shu and Zola leave your party,
head east to the lab. Talk to the lab tech and hell teach you how to save
(What kind of fool does he think we are!?). He will, however, inform you that
you can return to this lab by using the blue cube, which will become useful
later in the game when you wont have to go all the way through areas to
return to the lab. You can also customize your party using the cube, but for
now youll only have two people to choose from for your party anyway (You will
get many, many more people to join you later on in the game). Talk to the man
on the right and hell tell you about the giant cube in the lab.
