________/Introduction\_________________________________________________[INTRO]

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is the 4th installment in the Advance Wars series.
If you've played the series before, the new gameplay and art/story style
will be a distinct change to the series' past cartoony take on war. If you're
new to the game, prepare to be addicted.

As you can tell by the title, this is a unit FAQ covering the differing
strengths and weaknesses of each unit. It also covers the differing strategies
used with differing units, made by me and YOU, the reader.

First off, how to contact me if you wanna contribute, or if you found a
spelling/grammatical error. My e-mail address is "[email protected]".
If you wish to use this guide on your website, ask me via e-mail.

This is also my first FAQ, so bear with me people.

         ______________
________/Infrantry Units\________________________________________________[INF]

Name: Infrantry

In-Game Description: The cheapest unit. They can capture bases. +3 vision when
on mountains.

My Description: What better way to start the infrantry section off than with
the infrantry unit! While these were invaluable in past Advance Wars, now
they've been overshadowed by BIKES, covered later. Use these units near the
start of a match 'till you get the money to produce BIKES.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: -/-
Mobility: 3
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 1500

Pros:
Affective against other infrantry
Cheap
Great to start out with

Cons:
Overshadowed by BIKES later in-game
Weak against ALL vehicles
Very weak against everything EXCEPT other infrantry

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers, War Tanks, Anti-Air, Rockets, Md Tanks, Artillery, Sea Planes

Vulnerable to:
Anti-Tank, Recon, Tanks, Battle Copter, Battleship, Flare
______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Mech

In-Game Description: High attack power. They can capture bases. +3 vision when
mountains.

My Description: Basically a more powerful, but slower, infrantry unit. Much
more effective when it gets the first strike on Tanks and Anti-Airs and
somewhat Md Tanks and powerless against War Tanks. When this unit is counter
attacking any of the above listed units, it's as good as dead. Most of the
time left with 1 or 2 HP left. Very useful in swarms. When out of bazooka
ammo, it switches to it's machine gun, making it a VERY SLOW infrantry unit.

Gas: 70
Ammunition: 3/3
Mobility: 2
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 2500

Pros:
Somewhat cheap
Can capture properties
Great at start of a match
Great in swarms
Kick the stuffing outta Infrantry

Cons:
Low ammo
Switches to machine gun when out of ammo
Low movement range
Very weak to most things when counter-attacking

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers, Anti-Airs, War Tanks, Rockets

Vulnerable to:
Artillery, Seaplane, MD Tank, Tank, Battleship, Flare

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Bike

In-Game Description: An infrantry unit with high moblity. Can capture bases.

My Description: The best unit in the infrantry class PERIOD. High mobility AND
it can capture things. Keep 'em well protected, though. They are quite frail.
After making a few of these, capturing what used to be a 4 turn walk for
Infrantry will be only 2 turns for this baby.

*Xekun's Opinion*
[About the bike, i personally like the bike, but a has a huge flaw. It is
Tire B (even worse than Tire A and Tire A is bad) which means it has terrible
mobility in forests (2 i think) and ruins (3). While other infantries move fine
in those terrains, forests and ruins can cut the Bike to only 1 movement space
(if you need to get by 2 ruins). Also a bummer that they cant cross rivers and
mountains compare to the other infantries ]

Gas: 70
Ammunition: -/-
Mobility: 5 (w00t)
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 2500

Pros:
High mobility
Can capture properties
Useful against pesky Mech and Infrantry units capturing buildings

Cons:
Very frail
Weaker than Mech
Weak to all vehicles

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers, Anti-Airs, War Tanks, Rockets

Vulnerable to:
Artillery, Seaplane, MD Tank, Tank, Flare, Battleship

         __________
________/Tank Units\_____________________________________________________[TNK]

Name: Tank

In-Game Description: High movement and a low production cost makes these units
quite powerul.

My Description: The in-game description is correct. These units ARE powerful
due to their relative cheapness and ease of use. Although they can be
destroyed easily by higher tanks, great for use from the start of a match
'till the end.

Gas: 70
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 3
Range: 1
Cost: 7000

Pros:
Cheap
Easy to use
Disposable
Useful as bait
Great from the start of the match 'till the very end

Cons:
Outclassed fast
Relatively weak defense
Powerless against air units

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers

Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Seaplanes, Anti-Tanks (duh), Md Tanks, Battle Copters, Rockets

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Md Tank

In-Game Description: A strong tank with better attack and defense than
standard tanks.

My Description: Game description nails it. Somewhat expensive and slower but
powerful. These tanks are all around great. Useful for attacking the units
your regular tanks baited in, if indirects don't kill it first.

Gas: 50
Ammunition: 5/5
Mobility: 5
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 12000

Pros:
Powerful
Killing machines when leveled up
You need only a few of 'em.

Cons:
Somewhat expensive
Slower than regular tanks
Less swarm capability

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers

Vulnerable to:
War Tanks

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: War Tank

In-Game Description: The strongest tank in terms of attack and defense.

My Description: ^^^^^ Not much to say here. Most powerful tank unit in the
game. I don't like it. Too expensive to do anything with it in smaller maps
with less properties to capture. In long, extended games are where these
things shine.

Gas: 50
Ammunition: 5/5
Mobility: 4
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 16000

Pros:
Powerful
Kills most things quick

Cons:
EXPENSIVE
SLOW
Quickly concentrated on and killed when against the computer AND smart Wi-Fi
players

Very Vulnerable to:
Nada, Zip, Nothing

Vulnerable to:
Bombers
         ______________
________/Indirect Units\_________________________________________________[IND]

Name: Artillery

In-Game Description: An indirect attacker. This unit can move or attack during
a turn, but not both.

My Description: The game nails it again. I like using these units for frontline
guarded by an entire company of tanks. Cheapest indirect unit and invaluable
to your war efforts. Great overall unit.

Gas: 50
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 5
Visibility: 3
Range: 2-3
Cost: 6000

Pros:
Cheap
Indirect Attacker
Safe from enemy counter-attacks
Feared among vehicles and infrantry
Effective in frontlines

Cons:
Weak defense
Can't defend itself when attacked
Smart oppenets will weave out of its attack range

Very Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Bombers (surprise)

Vulnerable to:
Md Tanks, Rockets, Artillery, Tanks, Mech, Seaplanes, Battleships

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Rockets

In-Game Description: A powerful indirect attacker with a wide range.

My Description: A souped up Artillery unit with more range and power. A tad
more expensive than regular Artillery and meant to support from afar, away
from any potential damage.

Gas: 50
Ammunition: 5/5
Mobility: 5
Visibility: 3
Range: 3-5
Cost: 15000

Pros:
Large range
Away from most damage
Easier to use than Artillery

Cons:
Expensive
Cannot attack Air units
Cannot counter-attack
Weak defense
Not effective in short range

Very Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Bombers, Md Tanks

Vulnerable to:
Mechs, Tanks, Rockets, Artillery, Seaplanes, Battlecopters, Battleships

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Missiles

In-Game Description: An indirect attacker that can only strike airborne
targets.

My Description: Rockets, but for air. Useful for covering your air units and
other indirect units from bombers, fighters, etc.

Gas: 50
Ammunition: 5/5
Mobility: 5
Visibility: 5
Range: 3-6
Cost: 12000

Pros:
Kills those pesky flies off quick

Cons:
Vulnerable to basically everything it it gets close enough
Weak defense
Air units can and will sneak in to attack very quickly

Very Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Bombers, Md Tanks

Vulnerable to:
Mechs, Tanks, Rockets, Artillery, Battleships, Seaplanes, Anti-Tanks

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Anti-Tanks

In-Game Description: An indirect attacker that can counter-attack when under
direct fire.

My Description: Hard to use, but oh so useful. Basically, the red squares
around it when you hold the "B" button while the cursor is over the unit is
its attack range. Weak to infranty type units.

*Xekun's Opinion*

[For Anti-tank, overall a very powerful weapon that slaughters tanks when
they are attacked by it and when they attack the antitanks. But i feel it
is pretty vulnerable to some of the weakest units, the infantries. Infantries
do a decent amount of damage to it. Infantry takes them down around 3 hp while
they lose 4, mechs do around 6 damage while they lose 2.]

Gas: 50
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 4
Visibility: 2
Range: 1-3
Cost: 11000

Pros:
Can counter-attack
Vehicles beware
Only very vulnerable to air units

Cons:
Hard to use
Less range than Rockets

Very Vulnerable to:
Nothing

Vulnerable to:
Bombers

         _______________________
________/High-Altitude Air Units\________________________________________[HAA]

Name: Fighter

In-Game Description: A mobile aircraft that can attack other airborne units.

My Description: Most powerful air unit, but only against other air units.
Can kill most other air units, minus fighter, in one or two turns.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 9
Visibility: 5
Range: 1
Cost: 20000

Pros:
Powerful against other air units
Great for defending those Bombers

Cons:
Expensive
Weak against other Fighters

Very Vulnerable to:
Cruisers, Misiles

Vulnerable to:
Anti-Air (DUH)

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Bomber

In-Game Description: A massively powerful plane that can attack omly ground
and units.

My Description: Continuing the game description, it cannot attack other air
units. Other than that, a BEAST against ground units. Make this thing a
Veteran unit and no ground unit can stand in its way.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 7
Visibility: 3
Range: 1
Cost: 20000

Pros:
A beast against ground units of all types
Great for supporting your ground force

Cons:
Expensive
Very vulnerable to Fighters, Dusters, and Seaplanes, as it cannot attack back

Very Vulnerable to:
Cruisers, Missiles (Why the game doesn't list other air units, I don't know)

Vulnerable to:
Anti-Air

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Seaplane

In-Game Description: A plane produced by Carriers. It can attack any unit.

My Description: A very versatile unit to add to your air force during naval
battles. Will prove useful many times. Very low fuel and ammunition, though,
so it can't stray too far from Rigs, airports, or the Carrier itself. Load
'em up for a turn to refuel.

Gas: 40
Ammunition: 3/3
Mobility: 7
Visibility: 4
Range: 1
Cost: 15000

Pros:
Cheap (For a HAA)
Easy to use
Disposable (somewhat)
Powerful against ALL types of units

Cons:
Low supplies
Can't stray to far from nest, or so to speak

Very Vulnerable to:
Cruisers, Missiles

Vulnerable to:
Anti-Air

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Duster

In-Game Description: A somewhat poerful plane that can attack both ground and
air units.

My Description: Disregard my last description. These things are much more
useful than previously stated. Campaign missions change opinions. Anyway,
great for annoying the hell out of enemy infranty and moving in to finish
damaged fighters/bombers.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: 9/9
Mobility: 8
Visibility: 4
Range: 1
Cost: 13000

Pros:
Cheap
Can scout
High movement
Annoying :)

Cons:
Low attack
Annoying :(

Very Vulnerable to:
Cruisers, Missiles

Vulnerable to:
Fighters, Anti-Air

         ______________________
________/Low Altitude Air Units\_________________________________________[LAA]

Name: Battle Copter

In-Game Description: An air unit that can attack ground and naval units, as
well as other helicopters.

My Description: Great all around unit. Absolutly DECIMATES Battleships without
risk of an attack. Use these often.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 9000

Pros:
Cheap
Good scouts
Decimates most naval units

Cons:
Can't attack any High-Altitude Air Units
Weak defense

Very Vulnerable to:
Missiles, Fighters, Cruisers, Anti-Airs

Vulnerable to:
Seaplanes, Dusters

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Transport Copter

In-Game Description: An air unit that can carry 1 Infrantry or Mech unit, but
has no attack capabilites.

My Description: Good at transporting infrantry/mechs over mountains and not
much else. All I can say more is keep it defended when it has a unit in it.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: -/-
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 1
Range: 0
Cost: 5000

Pros:
Transports Infrantry and Mechs over those pesky mountains

Cons:
Can't attack

Very Vulnerable to: Anti-Airs, Missiles, Fighters, Cruisers, Seaplanes,
Dusters

Vulnerable to:
Battle Copters
         ___________
________/Naval Units\_____________________________________________________[NU]

Name: Battleship

In-Game Description: An extremely strong naval unit that can launch indirect
attacks after moving.

My Description: "You sank my Battleship!" Most powerful naval unit, period.
This is what people often think when they hear the word "Naval" and it's not
surprising why. An indirect attacker that can attack all ground units,
decimates all naval units, AND can ATTACK AFTER MOVING. This mo-fo is a
BEAST. Be fearful of air units amd subs, though. Defend it well with a
company of Cruisers.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 5
Visibility: 3
Range: 3-5
Cost: 25000

Pros:
Can attack AFTER moving
Insanely powerful to anything that walks the Earth

Cons:
Expensive
Air units will swarm to this thing like flies

Very Vulnerable to:
Nothing

Vulnerable to:
Bombers, Subs

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Carrier

In-Game Description: A naval unit that can carry 2 air units and produce
seaplanes.

My Description: Cannot attack effieciently on its own, but supplies you with
incredibly useful seaplanes. Instead of ammo, it uses "Mtl", which is short
for materials. Uses it to produce seaplanes.

Gas: 99
Materials: 4/4
Mobility: 5
Visibility: 4
Range: 1
Cost: 28000

Pros:
Supplies seaplanes

Cons:
Weak to everything else
Only use after seaplane supplies are gone is to supply them

Very Vulnerable to:
Submarines

Vulnerable to:
Bombers

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Submarine

In-Game Description: After diving, they remain hidden unless found by adjacent
enemy units.

My Description: Have the useful ability to submerge, while it wastes more
fuel, it keeps the unit hidden from indirect attack and view. Sneaks up on
poorly defended Battleships and kills 'em. High visibility, too, due to that
periscope.

Gas: 70
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 5
Range: 1
Cost: 20000

Pros:
Can submerge
While submerges, cannot be attacked unless found
Can only be attacked by other Subs and Cruisers when submerged

Cons:
Waste fuel fast
More fuel wasted per turn while submerges
1 Cruiser hit renders this unit powerless

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers, Cruisers

Vulnerable to:
Nothing

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Cruiser

In-Game Description: Cruisers are strong against subs and air units and can
carry 2 copter units.

My Description: There's a reason the main weapon is called "Anti-Ship Missile"
Powerful against ships and air. A good naval unit all around

Gas: 99
Ammunition: 9/9
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 5
Range: 1
Cost: 16000

Pros:
Strong defense
Kills Gunboats quick
Kills Bombers quick
Supplies those dying Helicopters

Cons:
Weak to Battleships

Very Vulnerable to:
Nothing

Vulnerable to:
Nothing

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Gunboat

In-Game Description: A unit that can carry one foot soldier and attack other
naval units.

My Description: One shot, one incredibly damaged ship. Only one shot per
supply, then you must stock up by nearing a Rig or a Seaport. Cheap naval unit
that can reveal those pesky subs so you can go in with your cruisers.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: 1/1
Mobility: 7
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 6000

Pros:
Powerful
Cheap

Cons:
Only one shot
Weak defense

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers, Subs, Seaplanes, Rockets, Artillery, Battlehsips

Vulnerable to:
B Copters, Cruisers, Gunboats

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Lander

In-Game Description: Landers can carry two ground units. If the lander sinks,
the units vanish.

My Description: Great for transporting your ground troops to different islands
on maps. Defend thse well, although they have great defense. A full Battleship
salvo will bring it HP to around 5.

Gas: 99
Ammunition: -/-
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 1
Range: 0
Cost: 10000

Pros:
Transorts ANY ground unit
Strongest transport unit in the game, defensively speaking

Cons:
Cannot attack

Very Vulnerable to:
Bombers

Vulnerable to:
Seaplanes, Subs, Battleships, Rockets

         _____
________/Other\________________________________________________________[OTHER]

Name: Recon

In-Game Description: Good movement and vision. They are strong against
infrantry...

My Description: ....and nothing else. Weak in attack standards, but invaluable
during Fog of War. Hence the name of the unit, "Recon". Which is short for
"reconnaissance".

Gas: 80
Ammunition: -/-
Mobility: 8
Visibility: 5
Range: 1
Cost: 4000

Pros:
Great vision
Great movement

Cons:
Weak attack
Weak defense

Very Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Bombers, Md Tanks, Rockets

Vulnerable to:
Mechs, Tanks, Artillery, Seaplanes, B Copters, Anti-Tanks, Battleships

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Anti-Air

In-Game Description: A specialized anti-air unit that can also attack ground
forces.

My Description: You people know what this thing is made to take out. Use it
as such, and don't attack tanks with it.

Gas: 60
Ammunition: 6/6
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 3
Range: 1
Cost: 7000

Pros:
Great against air units
Great against infrantry

Cons:
Tanks will kill these things and take no damage
A Bomber with a first strike will leave these things with 3 HP left in the
worst conditions.

Very Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Md Tanks

Vulnerable to:
Bombers, Rockets, Tanks, Anti-Tanks

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Flare

In-Game Description: Flares fire bright rockets that reveal a 13-square area
in Fog of War.

My Description: I love these things. Useless without Fog of War, but
invaluable when in it. Makes the game feel so much more real. Keep a Rig near,
as these things run out of flares fast, and you WANT to shoot more.

Gas: 60
Ammunition: 3/3
Mobility: 5
Visibility: 2
Range: 1
Cost: 5000

Pros:
Reveals Fog of War
Useful against infrantry

Cons:
Weak attack
Weak defense

Very Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Bombers, Md Tanks

Vulnerable to:
Rockets, Tanks, Mechs, Seaplanes, Artillery, B Copters, Anti-Tanks

______________________________________________________________________________

Name: Rig

In-Game Description: Carries 1 Infrantry or Mech unit. Can also supply units
and build temporary airports/seaports.

My Description: INSANELY USEFUL. With the gameplay changes in Days of Ruin,
keeping your units stocked up makes these things as useful as ever. You NEED
efficent supply lines to succeed in this game. Building those temporary ports
and airports in the middle of a battle will make sure your air and naval units
can get healed up, no matter how far away the nearest "real" port is.

Gas: 99
Materials: 1/1
Mobility: 6
Visibility: 1
Range: 0
Cost: 5000

Pros:
Supplies you units
Can build Temp Airports and Temp Seaport in their respective areas

Cons:
Can't attack
Somewhat weak defense

Very Vulnerable to:
War Tanks, Bombers,Md Tanks

Vulnerable to:
Rockets, Tanks, Mechs, Seaplanes, Artillery, B Copters
