To get the fire oil, first get all the other items you need for the potion. Then, return to the lair and talk to Mr. Russo (the dad). He'll show you the fire oil that's in the magic cabinet. If you go too close, it closes. To get the fire oil, you go into magic mode, then click on the cabinet and "Undo Magic". Then walk up and get the potion.
