Question for Trauma Center: Under the Knife

I hope somebody can help me, I have been trying to delete saved games by doing it the way it says to do it in the instruction booklet that came with the game but it does not work. What am I doing wrong? Please help me!

One thing you could do is do a new game and save it on the game you want to delete if you want to start a new game in it's place......
