Help please I have just started playing the games and have managed to buy a place in the game but a robber stole my stuff in it and I do not know how to buy from the catolgue

You can't buy things from the catalog. You have to buy them in stores.
To keep from losing more stuff, go to the heater on the wall and buy some security. The highest (and most expensive) level will prevent all theft. Remember to do it again when you move to a new apartment.
