How long do the alien invasions last, and can I stop the aliens with my water gun or what?

They usually last about an hour in real time, and yes you can. You can also stop them with the Rat Suit, but the preferred weapon would probably be the water gun.

I got it same... New game/ no aliens because you're not that far in the game? Don't do any missions and wait for a while
