Actually I think it's in the store, I'm also looking for it, you need to get a specific mission to get it, then you go to the store and where the new stuff is (video games etc.) there should b a metal detector. Hope I helped!

You have to wait until you get a mission from Frankie Fusilli that tells you to look for gold bars in the desert . You buy the metal detector from the store and is about 800 simoleans But You can't get it until you get the mission from Frankie. Hope I helped

But, you can't buy it unless you don't get a quest that asks you to use a metal detector

To get the Metal Detector, all you have to do is go to the local shop where the alien boy works, and then go up to him, then press 'BUY'. It should be there, and it will cost 800 simoleans. If the Metal Detector isn't there, then that means you havent got that mission.

You have to make sure you bought all the rooms you could possibly make. The penthouse guy wanted me to make the vault then you talk to him again and he tells you to get the metal detector. THEN it's available to buy in the store
