To defeat the beetle boss you have to dodge it's ramming move, then you have to pull out your whirlwind and remove the gas behind the beetle. Now you are able to hit the beetle and repeat this until he goes into it's next phase.
The beetles next phase is being in the air, the beetles will send out blast worms, when the blast worms are in it's bomb stage use the whirlwind to move the bombs and hit the beetle. This should be able to give you the gist of the fight and you will be able to finally defeat the boss. Good Luck!
