Weird pattern for Ocean King Temple!?

I'm in the Temple of the Ocean King and there is a massive door shaped like a sun. When you tap it, it says something about pressing it to the sea chart. What do you do there? If you try to leave, the spirit stops you!

I too got stuck on this. Close your DS and it will then be copied.
