HELP!!!!!!!!

I am in the temple of the ocean king. I have passed the spirit of power and wisdom doors so I am at the room with the sun like the one on molida island in the secret hideaway.Where it says press the sea chart against the map on the sun so I open the sw sea chart. How does it work I close and opened my ds and it still does not work. Does it only work with the ds lite? I have an older ds please help

Just keep the DS closed for about 5 seconds and it will work.
