I'm confused

I got the boomerang in the Fire Temple but it went missing does anyone know what happened here?

I'm assuming you haven't used it yet. It should be up in the right top corner. Click on it to use it. Draw a line with your pen to aim it then let go to release. You should find it always in that top right corner to use forever in the rest of the game.
