Question for The Golden Compass

Im completely stuck on chapters 2-1 I'm stuck after the slides ubt I've gone passed it I'm at the part where theres 2 places you can go but one of them you can't take pan

I'm completely stuck at this part too, but I think what you have to do is take the path that heads towards the screen (you) and try and get to the top where those doors are, I think... That is how to get into the library, other players have said that you need to avoid 3 scholars, and/or the butler, then you can get the athliometer and the master will help you
