Please can some one help me I'm stuck on the Path to the Witch and can't see how you get past the thorns to move on to the next stage

Hi, if you go to Ign.com. You can get a walkthrough for this game which I found extremely helpful.
You can't get past until later in the game- when you rescue Mr Tumnus.
